Can I flash an updated firmware jellybean 4.3 on my s3? Or is it advisable to just flash the 4.1.2 that was official release on my region which is from the philippines??. The reason why I'm looking for advice bec. I accidentally wiped my internal storage thru twrp, and with no back up flashing a stock firmware I think is my only choice??

You seem to be missing some basic knowledge, wiping internal storage makes no difference to rom -unless you formatted system, in which case you'll need to flash something.
If your local 4.1.2 rom is at least emg4 then you can update to latest euro 4.3 then flash your local modem for best results. If your local modem is earlier than emg4 then stay on 4.1, otherwise you'll get updated to efs v2 with no compatible modem.
Backup efs before you flash, factory reset before first boot.

Sori guys for making the same thread..I'm stressed so much at work, from 8-5pm, and from 6pm onwards I'm at my parents store, helping them and for them to get some rest, until 11pm..everyday routine in the past 3years...my mind is somewhat kinda afloat..that's why maybe I stupidly made the mistake on my phone...

if you can still enter the recovery, try downloading a flashable rom, place it in an external card, and flashing it from external card..TWRP and CWM can support flashing from external card
if that fails flash this, it's safe but you'll have to go back to zero..that's the latest firmware for i9300
here's a tutorial how to use Odin

Hi guys...
I have a galaxy s3 and up to this point I've been pretty satisfied with the original firmware...
However, I'd like to try out some of custom made ones, but since there's a big update on the way, I want to be safe doing so...
What I mean is basically this:
Can I somehow backup my stock firmware, try out some custom builds and then get the OTA update when it's available?
I don't really care about guarantee, but I'd really like the option to get OTA updates from samsung in the future (if I for some reason want to do so).
I remember an old post, where someone talk about this, but I can't find it
Please help me
Most definitely. You can find stock builds here in this forum and simply flash using ODIN to get back to stock firmware when you want to. Be advised this does wipe your data so have a good backup of it before hand.

And then it would be as my phone never were flashed and OTA and other samsung only stuff would work?
You will have to use triangle away or something like that to reset your flash counter if you want to send your phone to repair and make it appear as you have never flashed before but unless you break your phone, don't bother. And yes the other Samsung stuff should probably work.

If you flash your phone with a custom ROM for instance Resurrection Remix or Cyanogenmod you'd not directly be able to restore a stock ROM.
You will have to find one http://androidfirmwares.net that's for your region and flash it through Odin. Then you'll be able to update OTA and KIES.

Agree the advise given was plain wrong .
Nandroid restore a backed up stock rom yes yes yes .
The only but is that the backed up rom is of course rooted .

Okay... now I'm even more confused
Let me see if I get this right?
One way to do it would be to:
1) Download tools and rom (odin, CM and drivers etc)
2) Flash new cool rom
3) Donwload original samsung rom
4) Flash old boring rom back to phone
5) Use tool to reset counter (optional)
Now, my phone would like as if I had never ever rooted and flashed my rom
Is that more or less correct?

When you want to get back to stock firmware follow these steps
1.Download stock firmware for your region from

obviously I can't tell you yes or no , as far as I know you can flash anything above anything, the question is if 1) it boots up or 2) if it boots up anything works without FC when you come from another rom base, hence the advise to do a full wipe

Sorry for my English. I mean I wanna upgrade my Android 4.0 to 4.3 or 4.4. But I just can figure out how do I do it. Can u provide me some link the instructional videos to upgrade my android versions. Thanks.
If u have a custom recovery .
Thn go ahead and flash the rom zip of any Android version with full wipe.
If u get status 7 error then u need to have latest cwm
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Well maybe a little tutorial first
Rom=the firmware on your phone
StockRom=official (Samsung provided) firmware
CustomRom= unofficial firmware (rooted phones only)
Recovery= it's a surface in which u can install. Zip files and do other stuff like wiping dalvik cache etc. You have to differ between stock-/customRecovery
To install zip files you need a custom recovery like clockworkmod (cwm)
(to) flash something= that just means to install zip files via custom recovery
First thing you need to do is installing a custom recovery , depending of your phone model you can eventually use rom manager from playstore (gt-i9100).
If you have another model you may have to find another way to install cwm as I have no idea if it works on other models as well.
If you installed cwm successfully you now have to search for a rom which is fitting to your phone model, be careful, as flashing of a wrong rom can kill your phone forever.
To start the recovery you have to start your phone while holding the power, home and volume up button pressed. Once there it's a good idea to make a backup before flashing something.
If you have installed cwm through rom manager and have still stock rom, you only can start cwm by using rom manager.
Better wipe every data before flashing a new Rom otherwise you may experience a boot loop.
Alright guess that should be all for now, hope it'll help

Hi there!
I'm a proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 (bought in Israel) running 4.1.2 stock.
I've installed "Revolutionary S5 ROM V3" on it, but after a successful installation, the phone failed to recognize my SIM card, thinking there's no SIM card inside. I panicked and restored my NANDroid backup, and everything worked well, but how can I get Revolutionary S5 ROM (or any ROM for that matter) other than my stock ROM to recognize my SIM card?
By the way, I'm sorry I have to make a new thread about it rather than ask my question in the ROM's page, unfortunately it prevents me from doing so because of my low post count.
Thanks for your support!
Maybe an idea to search the threads before posting but since you asked nicely, http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=5942 here is the link to the updated modem, flash revolutionary s5 then flash this file in recovery and there shouldn't be any issues!

Thank you for your support! I swear I've been searching and haven't found an answer before though. Can you tell me about this file? What does it do? Is it reversible if I flash back to stock again?
OK what it does is it changes your EFS to V2 (anything before Android 4.3 used EFS v1 that's why you get no signal) http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=5557 download this app on to your phone (credits to Ricky) and then backup your current EFS.... And then flash the new one to use with all Roms that are Android 4.3 or higher but if you choose to revert to 4.1.2 for instance you will need your EFS V1 backup to get signal back, so basically backup, then flash rom (it's amazing) and then the file I posted earlier and stick with it!

If you don't have a ext Sd card don't try my suggestion! I would only ever advise a full wipe if you have a ext sd card just in case anything goes wrong plus like you said where would you put the rom. I would strongly suggest you getting a ext card no matter how small if you are flashing roms.

Now you have confused me even more! I thought you said in your previous post that you had connection on 4.3 stock rom if so why are you on 4.1.2 ?. Stock rom 4.3 is efs v2 and stock rom 4.1.2 is efs v1 if you have no connection on 4.3 then this is your problem you still have efs v1 which will not work on 4.3 or any of the newer roms please confirm that you have a signal on 4.3 stock rom.

Ok that's good it means you are on v2 efs which is good..I just needed to confirm that you had v2 efs I thought you might have been on 4.1.2 because of no signal.
I must admit this is a strange one because the asop roms, omni roms etc don't change your baseband which can effect your signal. There is one more option you could try use this patched modem >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ck-firmware-i9300xxemg4-t2377731/post43946365 << by JustArchi look at post 15. I used to install custom roms often. All of them worked perfectly fine
When I saw my flash counter it was 20+
So, I decided to use triangle away
Since then I am unable to flash any custom rom with working network successfully
