I'm using mine on Straight Talk. I bought it unlocked tho so I'm not sure if it HAS to be unlock. The phone does not have to be rooted. The only thing you would need to do is change the APN settings for Internet and MMS to work.

It uses a regular sized SIM, does not need to be unlocked - just request the AT&T SIM from StraightTalk.

Yes, you need to use the StraightTalk APN settings - even though they can provision you on the AT&T network, they go through different APN's.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525371 has more information that you can search through.
APN configuration is done through Settings -> Wireless and networks -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names.

[Q] Flashing a samsung note 2 to straight talk verizon.

I am trying to get my samsung note 2 onto the straight talk network that uses the verizon towers. My phone is a global phone so I can use the at&t or t-mobile services through straight talk but I would prefer to run off verizon towers as I would have better service. I have recently contacted Straight talk and they do still use verizon towers but they will not allow a 4g phone onto this network. Just as Verizon Prepaid plans will not allow a 4g phone I assume. They do allow 4g phones for att and tmobile however. I know you can flash a 4g phone to work with verizon's prepaid however I am not sure if I can do the same for straight talk. Will I even need to flash? Please help!
Android Version: 4.1.2
I hope this is the right section for this post. Thanks!
Just look for a good ROM 4.2.2 and below. I have had many issues with no service at all running 4.3 ROMs. All you have to do is Google the best APN settings for straight talk. I'm on net10 so I cant help with that, but yeah. I'm running avatar rom if that helps you with a rom to use :3

Yes, that does help. Now I know where to start. I will find a good ROM and try to find the APN settings. If I do find the correct APN settings will I need a verizon straight talk sim card for my phone or will I just have to go on their site or call them to activate without the sim? Any information on how I can activate my Note 2 to the verizon straight talk network would be helpful. Or would I just have to get the Verizon straight talk sim and just enter the correct apn settings and just plug in and use the phone?
I would not be opposed to using net 10 however. I am just looking for a semi affordable pre paid service that runs off verizon's towers. Considering I pay $130 a month for my service with verizon, it wouldn't take much to beat what I am paying now.
There is no verizon straight talk sim cards. This will probably only be possible with a donor phone.

Is there a tutorial somewhere on using a donor phone to get on the Verizon side? That is what I did with my fascinate and want to do the same with a note 2
To the OP, how's the new service working?

[Q] Straight Talk Help

I have an unlocked i717 that I've been using on tmobile for the past 2 years but I just switched to Straight talk so that I can use At&t's network which is much better in my area. I'm running stock 4.1.2 and I've tried several At&t Modems. I have the correct att APN but I still don't get any service. Under select networks I can't select anything. Any tips for modems/rom combinations that work on straight talk?
So after some fiddling I did manage to get connected so now I can send texts but I still don't have any data access, not even edge. I do have the correct APN.
What type of "fiddeling" did you do? You seem sure of the APN, I have been using ST for a long while and use the latest APN from their support website.
Heres the funny thing, I think I've got it all working. What I did: nothing. I let is sit overnight, after the Straight talk website said my number transfer had completed, and magically data was working in the morning. So I guess I'm all good.
I'm using the UCMD3 modem with straight talk and get 4G coverage in most nearby areas.
Same situation here...although I have to travel to "reach" any 4G!

[Q] Sprint phone on Verizon Network through Straight Talk

I currently have a Sprint HTC 4g LTE. It is rooted, boot loader is unlocked, and it is S-Off. I'm currently using Sprint. However, I was thinking about switching to Straight Talk. They said they would have no problem putting my phone on their network. However, I pretty confident that when they put my phone on Straight Talk, I will still be using Sprints towers. Is there a way to request or flash my phone where I can use this Sprint phone on a the Verizon towers since they both use CDMA? Any help or guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

OR Verizon Pre-paid are other options. StraightTalk is Sprint only I believe.
I've flashed mine to Verizon Pre-paid and haven't looked back. Everything works perfectly. You will need to download a voicemail app (I use YouMail) and configure your MMS protocols (there's a tutorial in the General thread if you search Verizon MMS).

Thanks for the information, but Straight Talk actually uses all major phone providers, At&t, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon towers. In order to access those towers though, you have to have a phone from that company so that is my dilemma of trying to get a Sprint phone to work on a Verizon network. I looked at the tutorial that you are refereeing to. I'm not 100% sure this will work for me or not since I want to use straight talk.

[Q] Attempting to bring my VS985 to Straight Talk, But No Data/Bad Signal?

Hey guys, I'm trying to bring my VZW LG G3 to Straight Talk as I'm sick of Verizon's outrageous charges. I bought an activation kit at Walmart because their compatibility checker said it would work, and so did most other people when I did a Google search. I tried using the CDMA LTE SIM, but it said the SIM was incorrect. So I used the AT&T SIM and got voice working, but couldn't get data even with the proper APN setups. So I called ST and they said it's not compatible, but I know it is because VZW phones are unlocked by default, right? They also claim there is no service where I live but I have friends on ST very close to me who do have service, also ATT and TMO are both here as well as VZW. Am I doing something wrong?? I switched to the TMO SIM but now I can't make a call, they say my account is restricted.

Are you trying to port your number over from VZW or using whatever number Straight talk gives you? Are you rebooting after you entered and saved the APN? Also are you stock, or on a custom ROM?
Calling ST is like going to a phone a phonebook, picking a random person and calling them for help. Actually calling a random person might get you better support.
