After updating my Samsung galaxy S3 to Android 4.3 (the second, 2013-12, rollout), I had to find out that the clipboard button that used to be on the multifunction key left from Space is gone now.
An S4 has it.
Did anyone notice this too...is there any explanation?
I can think of two:
- it's a bug
- it's a political issue, a matter of differentiating between the current and ex-flagship model (similar to the numeric row new to the S4). Only this features was there in 4.1.2 and is gone now, which sucks thick noodles to me!
Thank you!

hi,
i recently got my SGS II, and i really like the samsung keyboard, it is very responsive.
However i think there is a bug, im not sure, but it is very annoying
when prediction is enabled, the prediction bar keeps hiding everytime a word is selected and then re-appears when you start typing again. i didnt have the problem on any other keyboard on my nexus one.
so is this a bug, is there any way to keep the prediction bar always there as the stock android keyboard does?
The Nexus One comes with a stock Android keyboard, whilst Samsung provides SGS2 with a modified one. I've always switched to Gingerbread Keyboard from the Market when taking on a new Android phone. All issues, with prediction and haptic feedback, are non-existent.
yeah i tried smart keyboard, all is working well
i guess its a bug.
such a shame, the samsung keyboard is very nice!
Hi all:
I have compiled AOSP 4.1.2 for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wifi (GT-P7510) and have encountered an interesting issue with the soft keyboard. For some strange reason, when I touch a text entry field and the soft keyboard appears on the screen, it seems to paint incorrectly. rather than spanning the entire width of the display, it seems to be "squished" over to the left a bit and there is maybe a half-inch of empty gray space showing in the display to the right of the keyboard. However, the thing that makes it more interesting is that the actual digitizer mappings for the keyboard seem correct. As a result, I have to press somewhere between O and P for example to get an O to appear, trying to press L does a K or I, etc. The problem does seem to lie with how the UI is painting the keyboard onto the screen.
I've tried installing an alternate keyboard to see if it was specific to LatinIME but it doesn't seem to be...no matter what keyboard I use, the issue remains.
I've checked in my device and vendor trees used to build the ROM, and can't find anything that appears to be setting anything related. Can someone toss an idea at me about what to check next? Is it a bad lib maybe, or something else that needs to be tweaked in the source or kernel? I'm fairly new to this and haven't encountered anything like it. I've successfully built AOSP 4.0.4 and never saw this type of behavior.
Would greatly appreciate any leads anyone can provide in terms of what I can check out next. I'll keep grinding in the meantime Thanks so much in advance for any help!
use overlays for the package
The Tab S3 does not have a keyboard profile that matches the physical layout of this keyboard. English(US) comes close, but most of the punctuation keys do not match up.
Does anybody know is Samsung plans an update to support their own keyboard?
EDT1: Ok...selecting French(Canada) keys match, and I can just use in english; covers both. Leads to another question: some keys have 3 symbols on them, 2 upper/lower left; one lower right. How is the symbol on the lowwer right accessed? for instance, one key has : in the upper left ; in the lower left and (tilde) in the lower right. I can't access the (tilde).
This is a good question. Why does Samsung release a physical keyboard that does not match any android profile? Why did they not create one? The most frustrating part is trying to fill an email address that requires the AT symbol, which should be a shifted-2, yet appears as a "!! WTF!?!?!?!?! This should be a no brainer.. I am terribly disappointed about this... spending almost a grand on this tba s3 with a kb and it doesnˋt work...
It seems the s7 Edge which will be sold in my country is g9350, the one with s820 chips.
I have 2 questions before buying this phone, please help
1. Will changing the resolution to 1080x1920, or 720x1280, using terminal emulator & build.prop, cause samsung system apps to crush or cannot be used anymore? I mean in stock android 6.0 ROM.
LG G3 D855 is like that, if you change to lower res with lower dpi, contacts dialer calender calculator message will force close. So will s7 edge be like that?
2. Can I reverse the functionality of recent task button & back button? Whether by rooting or not, I get used to Left=back button and right=recent task button, and I don’t like Samsung’s design on this. Is it possible to edit system files or other way to change this?
3. Is it possible to set the phone with double tap to wake screen option?
Thanks in advance.
Dear People!
I'm using the Samsung Tab S3 (SM-T825) with the*SPen, and i mainly use it for taking notes with the application S note.
My problem is that from one day to another, the SPen's button changed. Before, when I*pushed the button and held it, it changed to Eraser mode and I could easily change between writing and erasing, and now if I push the button and hold it down it changes to Selection mode, so it is much less useful and practical than it used to be. I've tried updating S note, but there aren't any updates. I also deleted the memory of the S Pen application in the Settings, Apps, About S Pen.
Do You know any solution to change it back? I really need that function back in my life!
Thank You for Your help!
Interested about this as well, it seems as if it some random point or for some random reason it switches between eraser mode and the other one.,.. haven't been able to figure this out either (prefer eraser mode myself as well)
