If you didn't update to kit kat you can use RUU after you relock your bootloader.
Or you can figure out how to push a rom by ADB.

I'm not entirely sure about any of these suggestions but I'm 100% you have to send a rom through ADB. but I THINK I seen one at the AT&T side of the forum (just seen a thread titled 4.4.2 ruu)
I was in the same exact situation as you, I paid some guy $20 to send a rom through ABD because I was impatient for my otg usb cable to come in
You can order one of these "USB 2.0 A Female to Micro B Male Converter OTG" for just a few $ on ebay if you want, this is how I install all my roms now

Thank you for reply to me. I actually have OTG cable and I used it to try to instal ota 4.4 through stock recovery but it didn't work. TWRP recovery doesn't see new flash device.
P.S. I guess the only one big problem that Im supernoob

if it doesn't see it, it's normally set to the INTERNAL at the bottom.
So if your on 2.7 or 2.6.3.3 just clock on the bottom and choose OTG instead of internal, hope this helps.

Ok, here is my mistake: I was trying to do all this things with oldest version of twrp, then I installed twrp 2.6.3.3 recovery and I was able to flash any custom rom by OTG cable. In my case it was ViperOne 5.8.0 and works fine for me. :victory:
I appreciate your help and thanks for your time! :good:

can you adb into the phone from your PC ?
you can try to push a rom to /data/media
boot to recovery wait about 10 seconds and the open cmd on you pc and run adb
adb push Rom.zip /data/media
wait for it to copy (it takes a while)
reboot phone back to recovery
your rom.zip should be on the phone now
Flash
your home free
Does twrp run? You should still be able to install the Rom as long as your recovery program still works.

twrp is messed up he most likely formatted the system and the /sdcard (rom) it happens all the time
Yea I did the same thing the first time I rooted my one X lol I was scared my phone was ruined! To the OP relax your phone will be alright just follow instructions better in the future.

Here is the instructions i posted that got another guy up and running hope it helps you out
This worked in CWM anyway
Boot into recovery
from the pc (c:\fastboot) do the adb push filename.zip /data/media
wait for it to copy
then on the phone reboot recovery your rom should be in the root of the sdcard waiting for you to flash
I just tested it and it worked perfect ( of coarse I didn't format my sdcard so ymmv )

Ok first, thank you for taking the time to help me with this.
I am a little bit of a noob when it comes to this stuff. I know just enough to get into trouble apparently. lol
I have my phone plugged in and have adb up, and am in fastboot. It doesn't seem to recognize my phone. I type adb devices, it just says list of devices and doesn't list any.
It won't let me push anything to my phone. I'm probably doing something wrong.

I've tried all of this with no luck at all. Main version is 1.26.502.10...tried installing Nandroid backups that other posted and keep getting an error when extracting the zip. I've adb pushed ROMs to the sdcard multiple times. They load for installation, everthing seems to work, but once I reboot, it hangs on the HTC screen.
I too deleted the system files so I can't get back in the phone. Tried CWM and TWRP and tried over and over to get it to work with no luck.
Tried installing CleanROM, Stock, and one other...no dice.
Any ideas? I've been at this for two days now.

you have to lock your bootloader first is all.

ADB freezes my computer, can't flash ROM

So I made the terrible mistake of wiping my data / system partitions and internal SD without putting a ROM on the phone. I was trying to revert the phone to a stock build via the RUU utility (I need to flash the phone to another carrier and I can't do that without the stock phone app) but it failed so now I'm just stuck with a phone with nothing to boot into. I tried to run the RUU again but it freezes my whole computer after clicking "Upgrade" (there's some serious disk activity going on but nothing happens, unlike the first time when it proceeded after that.
I can't mount the internal SD on my computer as Windows 7 won't recognize it (a new disk shows up but I can't go into it). I've tried to use ADB sideload in TWRP but my computer hangs when I issue the command and I have to hard reset it. Trying to flash the zip via fastboot also requires a hard reset.
I am moonshine S-Offed and I'm using the latest TWRP recovery. I am pretty sure I have all the drivers installed (HTC Sync is installed and I also updated them with the drivers from PDaNet). Help?! I just want to get it back up and running, I'm just going to flash a non-RUU stock rooted ROM.

If you have a recovery you can just use a USB OTG cable, a thumbdrive with your rom images on it and install a rom from external SD.

You got lucky. The way it sounded in your original post was that even ADB was broken. By that point, if you have a working recovery, the only thing you CAN do is flash an image... and without an SDCard to pull out of the phone, you can only do it through USB OTG on the DNA.
So I'd still pick up a USB OTG cable in case you need it in the future.

I know. Way too lucky. ADB has always been a pain for me, even with my Rezound. I will definitely be buying an OTG cable or that OTG-like sd card plugin asap!
boot into recovery and push the file to the /sdcard
no need to mount anything just make sure it says adb device: **device_id##**
when you have twrp booted and plug it in to your pc it will act as if the system is already mounted if you type adb shell it will bring up the shell of the phones storage then exit and just adb push rom.zip /sdcard/rom.zip and its there...
You can use this tool kit to help you out. I have used it and its very simple. The creator did a wonderful job with it. Best of luck to you!

[Q] Buggerit!

Good evening Ladies & Gents.
Firstly can I say, this site has been my bible, and I am so very very grateful for all the work that everyone has put in to making this site what it is.
Now down to business.
I have an HOX+ and have been flashing for about a year now but still consider myself to be a complete nub! first with hox then i broke it and now hox+. Im in a bit of a predicament.
I flashed a version of aosp 4.4 onto the phone, installed from the zip file, cleared the cache, user data and dalvik.
rebooted, and got stuck in a boot loop.
So i went to my backup and restored from there...
boot loop again.
So i went back into bootloader, then fastboot, and reflashed the viper+ 2.0.1 that I had on before.
But when I got stuck on sending boot
Now im stuck in a boot loop, none of my backups will restore properly.
I fear I am hardbricked as I cant get anything to work...
Any help before I have to be back at work tomorrow would be very helpful! and even more appreciated!
Yours
A very frustrated and stressed British nub
Sorry, also, I have checked through xda and I cant seem to find anything that would explain why I am stuck!

Well the bootlooping has something to do with not flashing the boot.img stated by yourself and lloir. About that bug of "Sending boot.img", it happens to me but I fix it by running CMD as administrator , If that doesnt work, try using a different usb port. Preferably one directly to pc/laptop rather than using a hub. Try a 3.0usb port first, if that doesnt work then 2.0usb port.
P.S Without S-Off you can't become hardbricked. Till now I didn't see a single person who bricked their HOX+ unless he received an S-Off developer phone..

I have the zip on the internal storage as i dont have "sd/ext" or what ever the extention is. When I bought the phone I never had the sd card. Never was able to save anything onto an sd card.
so should i try installing from the zip? even though the fastboot commands arent working?
or would a sideload skip the fastboot commands?
or am i just being completely retarded

HTC sync uninstalled ?
you have killed adb (if on windows just kick open taskman and kill adb)
or in cmd\terminal adb kill-server
then do adb devices
reboot pc?
try a different usb cable (maybe the one from your charger if you are not using that one)
*edit the above is assuming you are in recovery
IF NOT in recovery, but fastboot_usb mode
then fastboot devices (but you cannot do jack apart from flash boot image)
IF in recovery, you got a few choices
wait 5-10minutes (don't ask, it's a common issue with the X+ and CWM\TWRP)
put the device in adb sideload for a minute or so (^ see above reason)
i have adb issues in CWM\TWRP myself, especially when i have no rom and so on, so i know your frustration, patience young padwan

The experimental twrp doesn't work for me for adb. If that's what you're running, you can try rebooting to the bootloader and flashing the last official twrp to see if that works.

[Solved] No Operating System, Bootloop, ADP devices blank

I accidentally (and stupidly) wiped my OS on my DNA. I'm stuck in a bootloop and when I type adb devices it says:
List of devices attached:
(blank)
However, when I am in fastboot and type fastboot devices, it says the serial number of my phone.
Does anyone know of any way for me to get an operating system back installed? I have access to TWRP v2.6.3.0.
I scoured XDA for the past 4 hours looking for anything resembling my situation and found nothing. I tried different approaches that were listed that somewhat fit my situation, but to no avail.
Anyone? Please? I'm pretty literate when it comes to these phones, I just haven't ever come across stupidly wiping everything on my phone, including the OS.
It just freezes at the HTC screen and I don't know how to flash any ROM (or anything at this point) using fastboot.

Do you have adb access in recovery? If not, try to download a .IMG file for the latest twrp and flash that with fastboot and then try again to get adb in recovery.

I had the latest TWRP and it wasn't working. I then switched to CWM (via fastboot flash) and it still wouldn't recognize.
I previously had the ViperDNA rom installed and I think once everything was wiped (OS included), my computer no longer recognized my cellphone.
Is there any other way to recover my device / OS? Possibly only using fastboot?

Do you have a USB otg cable and a thumb drive? That's another easy way to get a ROM into recovery. If not, the next easiest thing (other than going and buying one or finding someone that you can borrow one from) would be to find a guide to ruu back to stock (make sure you do not screw up locking the bootloader!) and then start over with rooting / unlocking.

I do have a thumbdrive but not a USB otg cable (I can go buy one)
So if I'm accessing it through twrp, is there a particular folder which will allow me access to the thumb drive?
Also, would I be good simply flashing a Rom.zip and have everything re-installed?
Thanks so much for your replies, I really REALLY appreciate it!
Also, I don't think my phone is USB Debugging activated, if I need to activate it is there a way to do it if everything on my phone has been wiped and I have no immediate access to activating the option?

No problem.
I don't use twrp but I would imagine it is fairly obvious how to select the usb-otg drive. If not, try cwr. I know that used to work and was fairly obvious (but I forget the exact details).
There isn't any way to enable USB debugging in recovery but flashing a working ROM should get you back in business.

So I don't need USB debugging activated in order to flash a rom from a USB otg drive, correct?
Thanks again bud, you've talked me off the ledge.

The USB OTG is a GODSEND.
As are you, crpalmer, thank you so much for all the help!!
bhinderoid, did you fix it? Another option is ADB sideload. I've been in the same position as you and it is awful.
here is another thread that mentions the steps and issues.
