Hi to everybody, today I was bored and I decided to create a IRC channel for our community
Based on CyanogenMod Wiki
But, what is IRC?
IRC stands for "Internet Relay Chat". It is a way you can group-chat to dozens of other users and developers in online rooms, called "channels" in real-time.
There are several IRC networks on the Internet. My IRC channels are based off a server based at irc.freenode.net, also known simply as "Freenode".
You can connect to the IRC network using a free, dedicated IRC program such as Mirc, X-Chat, Smuxi, etc. There are many such IRC programs available for OS X, Windows, or Linux (even for Android).
Additionally, there is a web-interface to IRC that can be accessed using only a web browser via the Freenode Web Chat page.
Some channels (again, channels are like chat rooms) require to register an alias before you can enter. This security requirement is to make sure every participant has a unique name, and to avoid situations where someone can impersonate someone else. Other channels do not have this requirement.
Register a nickname on NickServ and join into the channel
This section is a brief how-to about registering a nick on NickServ-- the nickname (or "nick") server associated with Freenode. It is necessary to register your nickname to access the #xperianovathor or #xperianovathor-dev channel.
To register your nickname:
Click on the following link to connect to irc.freenode.net. Use a unique nick while joining.
Freenode Web Chat
Enter the following command in the message bar:
/msg NickServ register <password> <email-address>
You should now recieve an e-mail from NickServ at the email address you provided. Follow the instructions in that email.
For future logins you can enter the following command to authenticate your registered nick:
/msg NickServ identify <password>
To join a new channel:
/join #<channel name>
Some channels requires a password to join in, in this case the password is "xperia" (without the commas):
/join #<channel name> <password>
Example to join #xperianovathor use: /join #xperianovathor xperia
XperiaNovathor-related channel list:
Note that the name of every channel begins with a # character to help identify it.
#xperianovathor
This is the main support channel for our community. If you have any trouble installing a ROM or rooting your device this is the place to go. The channel requires you to access it via a Registered Username and his password is xperia. (Offtopic is allowed).
#xperianovathor-dev
This is the main developer channel for our community. This channel is for everyone who needs any help building Android. The channel requires you to access it via a Registered Username and his password is xperia. (Offtopic is not allowed).
And here ends my post, I hope you use these channels and if you have any doubt, here I am

I am running Agile messenger, there an XMPP option, it asks for login and password.
Is this suppose to allow you to connect to any jabber server ? Because if it is I don't see how I can enter my server and port for my jabber server ?
Any help apprecaited.
Jabber port is always default (5222) and cannot be changed in the current version(3b). The server is specified after the @ sign in the username.
BTW, you should better ask this kind of questions in the general forum, as it has nothing to do with TyTN upgrading...
Sorry agreed its the wrong forum, cannot see a way I can change the forum now.
OK here a harder one, out jabber server username is our email address, so there already an @ example
[email protected]
so login would look like
[email protected]@myjabber.server.com
obviously not working, anyway to make it understand the first @ is part of the username ?

I think you should use just [email protected] as username, at least this works for me, but myjabber.server.com == mycompany.com
Tried that no luck, also tried putting / before @ in username and \ but still no good. I think its limited, really need seprate box for server would save the grief.
Hey guys, I'm not sure who all uses IRC still, but I use it a ton. I am currently talking with the Freenode staff about gaining control over the ##windowsphone-dev channel, so I could get it set up. I'll update here once I finish my chat with them.
For all interested, it will be ##windowsphone-dev on the Freenode (http://webchat.freenode.net) IRC network. I am also looking into registering ##windowsphone as well, for non-devs. I cannot get the # namespace as it is registered to Microsoft (though never used)
EDIT: Ok guys, talked to Freenode. They said they're going to wait two weeks before they let me register the channel. Until then, they said we can use them freely. So join, talk, collaborate
The channels are located on the Freenode IRC network, and again the channels are ##windowsphone and ##windowsphone-dev
Once I register the channels, I will be looking for some people to help me run the channels. The best way to get that position is to join, talk, and be helpful. Once I get the channel registered, I will begin the process of finding out who will help me maintain the channel.
If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me or hit me up on Google+, as well as join our community on G+!
~Thanks!~
What specifically has to happen for an android device to pop-up the window that asks you to go to a sign-in or other landing page on a captive portal hotspot? I grab all dns requests and respond with the access-point's address, I grab /generate_204 and other device paths and have tried responding with 200 (blank OK), 200 with the landing page content, 200 with a redirect meta tag in the header, 302 with an http redirect. Nothing seems to do any more than cause android to complain about limited connectivity.

It seems that this channel doesn't exist. How can I find a server related to it?
If you're looking for different Discord channels, a good place to start is by checking out the Discord server directory. This is a great resource for finding different Discord servers organized by topic and interests. Another great way to find Discord servers is to search for them on this platform full of art discord servers. This can be a bit more hit or miss, but if you're looking for specific servers or topics, you can usually find what you're looking for this way. Finally, suppose you know someone already in a Discord server that you're interested in. In that case, you can always ask them for an invite. This is often the best way to find servers that you'll really enjoy, as you'll be able to get recommendations from people you trust. Hope this helps!

Thank you @Oswald Boelcke for moving the Thread in the correct forum! I actually misplaced the thread in the development section, but was too lazy to recreate a thread
