MMS issues. From ME7 all the way to MK2 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

So for the last maybe month its been getting worse where I can receive mms either with a picture or as a group conversation but sending was hit and miss. If I was on WiFi that was usually the issue, now even turning off WiFi first doesn't garuntee sending. I tried hangouts (briefly), I've deleted most of my threads, even removed safe strap ( I wasn't using it), ota to MI1, no wipe flashed MI1 ( to get MJ7 ota to take) then it's to mk2. Still the issue persists, I Ned WiFi off and maybe I can get a mms out.
This is all been on stock TW with stock messaging app (other than hangouts). The extent of my modding on this device was running wanam on xposed.
Your help is appreciated!!!
Also I do still somehow have a custom logo at start up though in about phone it shows boot type as Samsung.

idk if this will help you but i sat in mcdonalds on xmas eve for over an hour pinning in apns and rebooting retrying blablabla
idk why making anew apn didnt help in the end i decided to give up do a complete rom wipe mind you im on 4.2.2 me7 idk why inputting the exact same apn info once reset and after a battery pull somehow made the dumb thing start working i noticed that i can even send some pics that are slightly over 1000kb tmobile now..... i reset the entire thing again forgot if i had actully had somthing set diff and now once again i get service not activated on network with anything sent over 1000kb this to me isnt right cause i know for a fact at one point in the last few weeks i was able to send pictures slightly over 1000kb
im actully on here and found your post because im looking for answers to my own issue now
i can send and receive but only if whats sent is clearly under 1000kb im using a stock rom and i know it was doing it before becaus ei remember grabbing my friend and saying ohh sweet look no more cropping
im soo irritated with needing to crop and crop and resize and edit every pic i want to send the camera is set to lowest res and my oem mms txt app auto says its resizing the pic but every single pic 90% of the time is just slighty over 1000kb and wont send i see the h+ light up its trying it seems and then i get ....service not activated on network.... witch i guess is a false positive??? now my other idea is that it may have somthing to do with my apn
so idk im going to right now test epc.t-mobile.com epc.tmobile.com wap.voicestream.com and the internet2.tmobile.com or whatever it is cause i do remember i did have a proxy set im pretty sure idk ill have to try it with and without proxy for tmobile 216.155.165.050 and 216.155.165.50
and without it at all and with the proxy 8080 and with it clear idk if i should put default, mms, admin in the type box or leave it i also not sure if in apn type should be like mms internet admin dun or mms, internet, admin, dun or like mms, admin, dun ect i know most the time its not needed to even specify this area
im just going nutz cause im trying to send some snap shots of possible caldenders to someone and its just too much of a hassle to go to gallery edit crop recrop save go back delete org pic check new pic size half the time the new pic size is still too high over 1000kb
i dont want a 3rd party app i just want what i have to work
.....also wtf is up with google play store now trying to force me to put a cc or billing info or bill to my tmobile stuff to download a free app even
shakes head everytime i start playing with my phone it just ticks me off now feeling like getting a moto v600 again just because lol
temp work around ive found and idk if this is related to having some type of setting set like backup my data with google account or somthing either since i dont member the play store doing this before
and my wifes phone same model but diff bb 4.2.2 doesnt do this at all to her when downloading a free app ?
i have installed 0 3rd party apps too and have rooted with su installed and i have had to alter hosts file with a # just to gain access to google login and i did put adaway on it but ive removed it since it didnt help block cut the rope and angry birds starwars 2 ads i just gave up and uninstalled them both
well i will continue to read the 13 posts i found related to mms in i545 sections before posting a new thread i also have turned off group conversations and have delivery reports disabled and have gsm/utms set but will try global as well

MMS Woes, this can't be right.... can it?

This is without doubt the most hassle I have ever had setting up picture messaging.
Ok here goes..
I'm with T-Mobile UK, I have called them up and asked to have MMS capability turned on to which they said all I needed to do was send an MMS and it would automatically enable it for me. I checked my APN settings to make sure they were good to go and went for it.
Sending.....
I don't have a very good signal so at first I thought that might have been the issue. I hung about for an hour or so though, making some funny shapes etc trying to get a sign of the MMS sending.
Sending.....
I trawled the internet looking for any settings that I may have missed out. Meanwhile I found a window where the signal was OK (3bars). I searched my entire lunchbreak until I found that the Galaxy SII doesn't have any support from T-Mobile regarding MMS settings so you need to go directly to the Samsung support page. I had the MMS settings configuration file sent and installed.
Sending.....
I deleted the file that was apparently "sending" and started from scratch. Watched it for a good 10 mins.
Sending....
I turned on the data on my phone, so that I could check the internet and low and behold it sent.
What is going on? Is this normal behaviour for the Galaxy? Any and all MMS compatible phones I have ever had my hands on automatically enable data in order to send and recieve MMS pictures. I made sure that the auto recieve function was on as I couldn't believe what I had witnessed. The Desire that I had before the Galaxy worked fine on it's own, I only needed to actually enable the data connection properly when I wanted to browse the internet or check my email.
Is this the case or have I missed something? Seems like a massive mistake from Samsung if that is the case.
Any help would be appreciated... if it's needed
Anyone? Really annoying this lol.

[SOLVED]No multimedia msgs - phone problem??

So, this morning was the first day of school for my kids. Of course I snap several photos then go to txt the pictures to the grandparents. And the phone goes to send..... and then just sits there.... for ages. Then eventually errors out. Odd, but you know, at&t is kind of crap so I figure I'll try it when I get to work. A few mins later I receive a picture msg from my sister and I cannot open that either.
Anyway, it looks like I cannot send or receive multimedia messages now. After chatting with the at&t support person for what seemed like hours, he says the problem is likely with my phone and i need to do a warranty replacement.
I am thinking that's a ROM bug/issue, right? Would doing a master reset possibly fix this? Has anyone else had this problem? (I'm running the at&t official GB ROM, I did not do the OTA update though. I did the full pudding/root pre-install load.
Mmm, I don't how it is named in English, but you should have something called "data management" in the setting.
In there there a 2 menus : in the first "data stream control" (or something like that, again I have a French rom) you should deactivate it or MMS can not been sent/received.
At least that was the case for me. This also prevent from doanloading app with only 3g, you must have wifi.
This is quite annoying because I can't control the data AND send MMS but wel... maybe there is another workaround.
Edit : I'm in 2.2.2, I don't know if that will be the same in 2.3.4.
You need to have the correct APN settings. Check in your Mobile Network options.
Who is your service provider?
Hot damn rush! I had changed my APN to a custom one a while ago (just apn defined as 'phone' nothing else set.) I changed it back to the default HSDPA and la-da!
I wonder why that custom APN stopped working?
THANK YOU!
Glad you have it working now, enjoy.

At&t users with galaxy s2 international, mms problem need help please....

I am in the US and have a international galaxy s2 on AT&T...My phone is fully rooted, and I am currently running Batista70 FOXHOUD EDITION 2.1 but i cant seem to get my mms on a consistant basis....I have tried several roms so I am pretty sure it isnt that, I can send mms and have a great 3g signal but most of the time I cant recieve my mms...I can browse the internet and download from the market just fine but there again I cant seem to get the mms to recieve...It seems like on a fresh rom install i get the mms fine but then after a day or so I go back to not being able to recieve one at all...I have tried different apn settings and have made sure I am on the right AT&T data plan (HSDPPB) as mentioned in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109983) and I still cant get anything consistant on RECIEVING! It has really been agravating and I would love to figure out what I can do to get this working right, I dont know if it is the modem software??? Is it my apn settings??? I have tried different things and still nothing so any help would greatly be apprecitated and I have noticed alot of other people in threads seem to be having this problem so if we can figure it out I would love to make a thread to help out others...thanks in advance...
did you talk to your provider, they may have adjust or refresh your account settings from their end.
That's very weird actually, i used to have issues sending MMS but i never had any issues receiving them.

i have talked to at&t and finally got them to change my account and settings so I know for 100% that I am on the right rate plan and settings......
I to was having problems with MMS on ATT but my problem was sending them not receiving though. After I was sure I had the correct apn setting a customer services specialist had me do this. Try opening your phone dial pad and entering *5005*7672*+13123149810# then the green phone button. This is suppose to reset your sms/mms setting back with the network. Long and behold it fixed my problem of sending mms.
just to double check something - are you leaving your data (edge or 3g) enabled? disabling the phone's data connection will prevent mms from coming through.

Can't send MMS w/o enabling data

Hey, all!
Ever since i've picked up the amaze I've been having a mms bug. Can't send any pics w/o enabling the data first. When i hit send, it does display the 4g icon (i'm on stock ics, but it happened on gb as well), but in a minute or two the error message comes in. Once i enable the data and hit retry, it goes out smooth.
I haven't updated to a new sim-card yet (wi-fi calling wouldn't work on gb with the old one, but ics doesn't seem to mind), not sure if that's something to look into.
Let me know if anyone has any ideas
Thank you!

Mms is a data-reliant service, you need data enabled to send or receive. Thus...I would not classify this as a bug...

i've never had a phone that did this. i think i know what the problem is: APN settings for mms.

Downloaded APN Manager and checked my settings with it. Some are not correct. However, this app doesn't work with ICS. Any suggestions on how to change the apn settings on a stock (s-on) ics?

was it hard to just say you can click on the "mobile network" icon to bring up the settings tab vs the switch, as i had no idea it worked like that now? thank you.
Update: still no dice with the correct settings. 4g icons shows up and then i get the delivery error message. once the data is forced enabled from the drop-down, it's golden. very strange.
Without data enabled, you will not receive nor be able to send out mms. No way around it.

i understand that, but when sending mms, there should be a trigger (which i can tell it tries to do when i see the 4g icon appear right after hitting "send", except for nothing happens) for the mms data to be enabled just for the time it takes to send a particular mms, otherwise, what's the point to always have data enabled? none of the smartphones i've had, had this happen (sensation included).

Go into your apn settings and delete it or simply reset to default, it should auto download the correct settings, no idea how to make mms work WITHOUT data being enabled, I find that odd to be honest, but if it worked on GB, then I think you guys should stick to GB, just to save yourself some dollars.
It has been a while russianbear.. Anywho, what previous people have said is true, if you actually have data DISABLED, it won't come on for anything(how would the phone decide you want it on for MMS, but not something else like browser?). I used to roll around with data disabled a bit when I had gingerbread, so I can confirm it was the exact same way - you had to enable data to send mms - if it was off, nothing data related would work.
If you aren't worried so much about how FAST is sends MMS, you could always set it to 2g only, then your phone simply couldn't send much data at all.. or an awesome feature built into ICS - go to system settings then click usage - turn on set data usage limit, and set it REALLY low - this will keep ANYTHING that uses background data from sending/receiving, but any app you use in the FOREGROUND will work like normal - open browser or youtube and they would work like normal..
I'm sure there's another trick that would work, but I need more coffee.. good to see you again russianbear.

hey, man good to see you as well.
i'm sure i'm not tripping when saying you don't actually need to physically enable the data connection for it to send mms (none of my prior devices needed to) i've downloaded go sms pro and it works like the stock app should - i don't need to enable anything to send mms now (all options in that app are stock also). not a deal-braker to me, but still strange.

LOL, that may be why I didn't have issues.. I hate the stock messaging app, so I always used gosms. I'm not sure why you would use that ugly HTC goodness anyways, lol. Good to have you back bro
After much time trying to have MMS working without the data connection being active, I found that putting only "mms" in the APN Type setting does the trick (don't forget to save the settings before exiting the APN settings screen). The problem is that the setting is not applied without RESTARTING the device! So, change the setting to "mms", save, and restart.
You need to have the "Data active" option ticked, but there will (should) be no data connection for internet.
PS: I did this in another device, not the HTC Amaze. But it probably also works for you guys.

i've tried mms only, but still nada. it's ok though, i like go sms app anyway
Actually I send MMS and the message leaves but the person who receives the MMS gets an empty MMS message.
After much playing around with the device, I discovered that inserting a picture using gallery or the explorer that comes with the Amaze are all fail.
The only way I'm able to successfully send messages is inserting the image using ROOT Explorer. When I send MMS the person no longer gets empty MMS messages.
Now I'm using the CapcomCE ROM and it happened on SpeedROM 7.5
I downloaded the Gallery ICS from market and its the same story.
So basically if I insert pictures to send through MMS I have to use the Root Explorer or else the MMS messages are sent empty.
Has anyone had a similar experience?

MMS issue on ICS Passion 13.1

So I hope there isn't already a ton of threads for this. I look around and found nothing, anyways I have a Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant rooted to ICS passion 13.1 and it uses the 3.1.10_ICS_KissYum_yum_good #1 Kernel. I rooted this phone from Froyo 2.2 down to Eclir then to CM7 and then ICS.
Anyways I think that is enough info but the issue I have is I cannot send or receive pictures via text. I used to be able to and I know the plan for Tmo supports it but even if I try to send one to myself all it does is say 'sending message'. I never get one in my inbox and it never gives the time of when it was delivered, or sent out. When someone else sends one to me, it shows the size of the file with a little button that says Download, next to it. Even if i turn wifi on and connect to my router then hit 'download' it doesn't do anything. I don't have the Data plan but I don't think that would cause the issue would it?
I wanted to know if I am the only one having this issue and if I am not smart enough to see the issue it if it is just a bug in general. I recently figured out how to take screen shots so I can provide those to help my vague description.
I will work on getting those. I would like to have this fixed if I can in case my family sends me pictures.
Thanks.
To send and recieve MMS you have to turn on data transfer.
Mms will not work over wifi. It needs the carrier data accessible
sent from my cell in Arkham
So i looked and i guess there was a thread about an SMS error describing my issue. And the person just replaced his SIM card and it worked. I guess if it is cheap/free i will try that.
