all companies like samsun,lg,htc... upgrade only best phones, the other maybe get little minor update but sometimes they get nothings
so if you want a "new" android you must root your phone and install CMW so you will be able to install custom rom like as cyanogen...
why would you like to install android 4.2?
the latest android is 4.4 called kitkat
from 4.1.0 to 4.3.1 is jellybean
and from 4.4.0 to 4.4.2 (today) is kitkat

you can flash(it means install) a rom(it means a firmware) from your recovery, if you can install cwm it's better because you can also make a backup...
have your phone a recovery? maybe a stock recovery?

I can't get my tab past the "The Art Hi-Tech" screen. Have tried multiple resets and also all the combination of Power+Volume Up wipe but nothing changes the behaviour of the tab.
Please help. This is extremely frustrating :crying: and there are very important things that I need to do for which I need the tab. The data is not important though and I am happy to flash it.
Appreciate any help please

[Q] Problems with flashing my I9300

Hello guys,
my name is Raphnika and I am complete new to this.
I've tried to flash my Samsung S3 with a custom ROM like the Pacman one.(KK 4.4 or something like that).
I was not able to install it on my device so I tried the Android Revolution HD ROM and that worked for me fine.
It seems like I am not able to flash any KK ROMs to my S3. I keep getting a Status 7 Error...
I googled it and tried many solutions but none of them worked. It might be to the fact that I am a complete noob to this.
I hope you guys can help me!
lots of greetings,
Raph

[Q] 4.4.4 Easyroot?

Hey guys,
Can I still use the easy root tool to root after updating to the 4.4.4 firmware?
Thanks
Nope
I tried but it is getting stuck on CREATING VM (JAVASUCKS)
Same here... +1 Stuck on "Creating VM... "
No, the known flaws in 4.4.2 are all patched for latest fw, only current way around it is to downgrade, root install dual recovery and flash a pre-rooted zip from CWM.
In other words;
Go back to .314 (4.4.2) firmware,
Root,
Install a recovery,
And flash the new 4.4.4 firmware via recovery.

There are new rumors that you can root 314 - select preserve mode in SuperSU - and go OTA... and root will remain...

Yeah I've heard that aswell. It's most likely working. Shall I try it? Just spent a few hours getting 4.4.4 work on my phone with root...
Ah right - Fuuuun...
I think i'll just carry on stock until someone sorts out a rooting method for 4.4.4 that doesn't involve so much faffing about lol.
Thanks for all the replies
Just keep a eye in Z3 Section too
4.4.4 firmrare is a near direct port
Hi folks,
I have a new 4.4.4 Z2, should I root it now or wait after the Lollipop version is installed?
Will I be able to install the Lollipop when rooted?

Glad you could get rooted, is there a CWM or TWRP recovery image available for your device? If there isn't one available you may have to compile it yourself using this guide. What are you currently using to try and install recovery?

For any ROMs you would need a custom recovery. Unfortunately as the winter is my busiest time at school, I won't have time to compile a recovery for you until at least the end of March. However if you send me your stock recovery.img and stock boot.img I will see if I have time earlier.

I've a device having Honeycomb and would like to upgrade it to Jelly Bean at least.
Does anyone know where to download Android Jelly Bean from and what it takes to upgrade it?
Thanks
Anyone?
What are the Android upgrade steps?
Can you do the upgrade yourself ?
Thanks

There is no custom recovery or a custom ROM available that I know of. The device is Vizio Co-star.
If you don't have these 2 things, does it mean you can't upgrade?
Are they are patches or can something be done if the device is rooted?
Thanks

No There Are No Other Ways, if Your Device Supports Official Updates Means You don't Need These Two..if Your Device Doesn't Support Official Updates Means You need Custom Recovery & a ROM to Upgrade From One Version to Another , & Root Helps In Flashing a Recovery, If Your Device Doesn't Have A Custom Recovery Means Root Can't Do Anything With That.. Root is Just a Assistance for Flashing a Custom Recovery ..
CM ROMs Even Have In-build Root With ROMs, So Root is Not A Big Issue Here ...
