Just seen that the Lobster tv phone is now appearing FREE with 12 months free tariff on virgin.
http://www.cheapest4mobiles.co.uk/display.asp?network=&free=&gift=&hs=700TV
T-Mobile currently has the 4g plan for 10 dollars. Is it possible for me to use that plan on my vibrant? I'm currently paying 30 a month. I'm also locked on a 2 year contract.
Thanks.

yes you can, but you only get 150mb or 250mb per month, so its basically useless for me. i use 4-6gb per month..
It's a good plan if you don't use a lot of data. As in no Youtube or Pandora. My wife has that plan and it works for email and maps every once in a while. For me it's no good I use closer to a 1G a month.

Like everyone above has said, if you use more then 1GB a month, don't get it.
I hit the 5GB cap about every month (but usually a day or 2 before a new bill cycle) with how much data I use.
So it really depends on how much data you use.
I agree.
Ive been wondering if leaving my wifi active all the time and using a 3g/2g switch would do 2 things: obviously decrease my data use on the tmo network and also increase my battery life (seems to me 3g always consumes more than wifi).
Given the data limits of the carriers here in the US, what is your opinion about 2 Gig of data per month? I have a tablet with Tmo with the 5 gig per month but I’ve discovered that the actual usage is less than 1 gig per month.
Cost wise it makes sense to pay less a month but I’m curious about the average usage of the members here and not I don’t stream music or videos just the regular stuff.
With regular surfing and app usage I doubt you would ever reach 2 gigs. It is probably possible if you are on the tablet all day every day but without streaming it would be difficult. You probably know this already but you can tether your tablet to make use of a bit more data use, not sure if that would be useful to you or not.
I would say lower your plan and save yourself $10 a month. If you do ever go over your speeds just slow down on T-Mobile and you can raise you plan back to 5 gigs if you need to then. Its a win win for you. I work for T-Mobile and have noticed the plans changing a lot lately so it might be a good idea to switch while the 2 gigs is still available and still no overage.
*Edit* I realized I forgot to answer your question. I don't have a tablet but use my phone like one and average about 2.5 gigs total a month. I have 3 email accounts and the android news and weather app all set to update every 30 minutes, with moderate surfing, moderate video streaming, about 45 minutes to an hour of slacker radio, and heavy app usage (Craigslist, xda, Facebook, and engadget are the main ones that use data.) If I take away my usage on wifi then it brings me down to about 1.5 gigs a month of actual usage.

Actually you did, I forgot to mention that my plan is to use a Smartphone for the first time instead of the tablet, (maybe teether to the tablet ) thank you
Meanwhile I’ve been lurking here in order to learn as much as possible about this phone. And I’m completely undecided about which one the Galaxy S 4G (already several months old or the one discussed in this forum.
Well in my opinion if you aren't worried too much about the cost then I would wait for the Galaxy S II. If you want to save money on the phone then the Galaxy S 4g is a great phone. I expect the S II to be about $250 or $300 after a $50 mail in rebate when it is released with a new line on a classic plan or a full upgrade, $550 or $600 with no upgrade discount or a new line on a value plan.

Verizon sent me a text to upgrad3 my 6gb plan to 10gb for no extra charge. I agreed and saw the change applied right away. Did they do this for everyone?

No, but I sure wish they would send me one!
No but with the extra data plans there doing for a limited time I got a good deal. Me and the wife are using the Edge program so that just gave us 2 extra gbs per month and I bumped my plan from 10gb to 12gb and Verizon is doing that data promo which 12 is really 15gb and I'm still on a month to month plan didn't have to renew my contract. So basically for an extra 10 bucks I got 17gb a month now from 10gb.

These data caps and outrageous charges per month for it is simply put.....retarded. I can't believe alone people are FORCED to pay ~ $100 a month for stupid internet then they have the audacity to charge for 'smartphone' and 'tablet' and of course all the little 'taxes' and 'FEES'. I'm so glad I still only pay 29.99 for unlimited.....they REALLY need to bring back the unlimited. In todays world there should be no stupid ass limit on data. They brag about all this LTE and XLTE crap and act like they need to charge you for being a burdon and using it. I could see inflation, ya know, 5 maybe 10 bucks every couple years on plan pricing but how in the hell can you go from charging 29.99 for no limit to 50 bucks for 2 measly little gigs? Shouldn't even be legal. They need a simple flat rate for data and no tiered crap. 49.99 unlimited data is fair for todays market but......it'll never come again

Must be nice, I would mos def take advantage
pretty sure they are doing double data promotions also. we are on a 15 gig family plan and got bumped up to 30 gigs for an extra 10 a month not bad at all
They just want every dime they can get before everyone goes back to unlimited data. One carrier opens it up and they will all eventually follow suit. I wonder if representatives from each carrier meet clandestinely in some anonymous pub and discuss how to best control rates, and us.
I have been offered as an upgrade from EE,unlimited.Ted mins and text 5gig of data(which I can share with my wife line if choose) Free phone £36 a month but will also do me a new SIM only line for my daughter 500 mins unlimited text 1gig data for £4.99 month

You'd be better of getting a retention deal (See an example here) and buying the phone out right on a long term interest free credit card.
Make sure you pay of the credit card balance monthly, making at least the minimum payment.
You might even get some money by taken out certain credit cards through Topcashback or Quidco.
Here's an example - Halifax 24/24 (0% interest for the first 24 months on purchase and balance transfers). There are others available.
The deal you put the link to was offered to a guy who wanted to leave Ee, they always offer better deal to keep customers.
I did a bit of look around and I did not find any 4g sim only with 5gb for £15. Maybe did not dig deep enough?
449*24=18.70 phone cost per month over 24.
34-18.70= £15.30

This deal shows £79.99 for 5GB of data on Carphonewarehouse's site, it's the 2GB deal that's £59.99
FF
If you have BT I think that sim_only_deal for £20 with 20gb data and unlimited everything sound good. They run on the EE network which they are in the process of buying if I heard right.
If you spend time in big cities then or travel a lot then 3 sim_only_deal can be amazing for data as well. Unlimited everything for £27 which you can negotiate down. But customer can be cold.
02 speeds and deals don't match value especially when you can get on giff gaff. But if it's the strongest network around your area then you might have to consider them.
Vodafone is another offering good deals with free 6 months skysports depending on coverage being good in your area.
Anyone share some good sim only deals too please.

Yes, he requested to leave and was offered a retention deal.
I did the same about year and a half ago. I currently get 500 texts, 500 mins any network and 3GB data for £9.99. My wife has the same and it's more than enough for us.
Just upgraded on EE,as I was upgrading wife's SIM only as well and getting a new SIM only deal for my daughter .
Got free phone 32GB in graphite, unlimited text and calls 5 GB data £36 a month and delivered on 27/10/15

From mobiles.co.uk I got -
Free phone, 10gb data and unlimited texts/minutes for £39 a month and that's with o2. It was cheaper me doing this than buying the phone and getting a sim only deal.
I have a similar deal (but with much less data) from mobiles.co.uk, unlimited calls and texts with 3gb data for £30 a month on o2. With automatic cashback it works out at just over £28 a month. I think that is a bargain, ee could only give me something similar for over £40. I am amazed that it seems to be better to have a contract this year rather than buy the phone sim free.
Just buy the phone outright and take a SIM only deal, this always seems the better option to me these days and you don't get carrier firmware either (yes they will change it for wifi calling)
I got this from EE:
phone = 450
plan = 7.50/m (500min, unlimited text, 1gb data)
24month cost for comparison = 630
Not sure you can get much better than this for a phone direct from google
sg86, what do you mean about carrier firmware being added with WiFi calling? My nexus is from mobiles.co.uk with o2 and I've wondered about using their TU service. The phone is as vanilla as you like, as though straight from Google.
I went for buying the phone outright, and I wanted the 64gb option as I didnt think I could cope with 32gb and a BT sim only deal (im a BT customer) which was :-
64gb Nexus 6p = £499.00
BT Sim Only deal 2gigs of data, 500 mins, unlimited texts,
with a £20 amazon voucher thrown in (12 month contract)
£11 x24 = £264
Total = £ 763
Over 24 months = £31.79 per month
If you include the £20 amazon voucher (£743) = £30.95 per month
