So, for me, I can only play a partial song before it cuts out. Everything else seems to work fine.
I've called LG, and Verizon - they've never heard of the problem (big surprise ) . I'll get a hold of Google too but for now, let's try to figure this out.
My guess is a flaky Wifi connection. What is everyone else's opinion based on experience with the LG G2 and Chromecast, and what should we do?
Possible fix in post 23 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49363241
Edit-It didn't really work.

Both work great. As well as hulu.

Google's problem then. Netflix would use way more bandwidth streaming music. Chromecast in my opinion is still pretty beta, and new updates cone about once a month, so maybe they'll fix it.

I see your point, and you're not wrong but...
It works flawlessly on every other device I've used(sgs3, og incredible, iphone 4s, iphone 5,pc...etc.). This leads me to believe that something is screwy with the g2. Just looking for a meantime solution until this is worked out.
Edit-
Also, according to Verizon and LG this isn't a problem. So, maybe not even on their radar. Going to get to Google tonight but I'm guessing I'll get the same song and dance - "not our problem, call lg" or/ "not our problem, call Verizon".

Surround or HDMI? I don't have my G2 yet because my first one was a lemon, so I can't check for you...
Have you tried streaming from your PC? There is an extension for chrome that will cast a tab from your browser to chromecast, you could try that.

I also have this stupid issue. My nexus 4 and even my two galaxy nexuses don't have this problem. It will finish a song and then just not play anything. If u don't do anything.. Randomly it will just start another song

Have you tried Pandora. It plays a song then loses connection after and won't control it anymore. Didn't do this with my gnex either. HBO go seems to work fine tho

HBO Go, Netflix and others work fine. The only thing that doesn't work right it Google Music which sucks because I am trialing the pay GM with Spotify to see which I want. May have to just keep Spotify on ipad and stream thru Apple TV instead.
I have two G2s in the house. I hardly have songs or videos drop out mid track, but I do have a continuity issues. Sometimes it will play the next track, other times I have to manually forward to the next track. Not sure if G2 issue or CC issue.

I have had that issue with any music app. Pandora slacker spotify and play music. I think it's a g2 issue. Ironically I haven't had any issues when playing on the chromecast.
Maybe the g2 cuts playback thinking your no longer using the app and it needs to conserve battery?

I tried another app from the play store that keeps Wifi awake while the screen is off and I got 4 songs to play in a row before it disconnected. This is a record for me, but not a fix. My Galaxy s3 will play for hours on end with no interruption.

G2 issue. LG customer service blames it on Google. Verizon blames it on LG. Google doesn't say ****.

Maybe if we can get a logcat or two together of the Chromecast disconnect issue, it could help zero in on the cause. I don't think I'll have time until probably Sunday...
The next step would be to find someone to interpret said logcat.

What is your wifi (g, n, ac) and 2.4 or 5 ghz?
2.4 ghz wireless N. You know, I have a ton of networks in range of my home network. Maybe the router is nuking the connection looking for an open channel.

After the OTA update, my photon has generally been performing very well. I had the silent call/no audio issue before, but they seem to have gone away completely since the update. I only experience the "random" reboot issue when I am using music/audio applications such as Pandora and Google music.
Also, if I am listening to music using Pandora and I turn the phone from portrait to landscape (and vice versa), the audio pauses/stutters with each rotation. If I do this enough, I can usually get the phone to lock up and reboot eventually.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

Are you talking about the MR5 update that came out earlier in the week? I have downloaded that and am still experiencing the issue
No there was a Pandora update that came out yesterday from the market also make sure your phone is set to automatic for the network settings and on high performance for battery settings or it can do weird stuff
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
I notice the phone stutters in pretty much everything I do outside of the music app. If I start messing with settings while it's playing it stutters over and over. I also notice that the music player and music widget don't play well with each other. I can be playing music in the app and on my homescreen the widget doesn't even show what I am playing and just sits blank. I am really starting to see some bugs with the software on this phone.

Thanks. The update seems to have fixed the stuttering issue for me. I'll see if I get any more lockups/freezes over the next few days
I spoke too soon. After about 10 minutes on pandora, the stuttering came back. I wonder if this is an android issue or a photon specific problem

Yea I see this stuttering too.. used to happen on my Evo OG when I was using bluetooth stereo headphones and came into a building where my wifi knew the password. After the first update on that phone it was fixed.
I notice if I disable wifi it fixes the stuttering issue on the photon as well... but on the photon it happens whenever my wifi finds something in range, even if the phone doesn't have a connection to the wifi. After a while it seems to stop, like the hardware requests more resources and settles it.. but it is still quite annoying.
You can also get root explorer and change it in the build.prop

Definitely considering trading my Photon in for the Epic 4G Touch when it comes out on the 19th. Not only do I get the reboots while streaming but I also get the stuttering as you have mentioned...doesn't matter what the signal level is. Sometimes Last FM and Pandora will not play at all on this phone.

youtube has always performed poorly for me, in two different physical locations with various different hardware and two different ISPs. my guess is that it's my location and there's just not a good connection to youtube. i generally have to either download the clips or pause it and let it preload for a while.
May be a router issue? YouTube constantly buffers for me when on 2.4ghz. The only part of our house that has 5ghz is around my room area, and when I got there and connected to 5ghz, the YouTube app never buffered at all (except for the start of course) anymore.
Same here on my laptop as well as my tablet....
I have been using the rolle tube apk, which is the old YouTube and it works good for me on 3g speeds, tethering with my s3.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda premium
I have the same issue too. seems like the app refuses to stream faster than 2 to 3 mbps. I have a 150mbps down connection (get around 30 on wifi) and it always buffers when Im watching vids in HD.
Tablet app has no options for buffering or even the "pre-load watch later" option that my phone does...?
Have buffering problems, BUT also I get hangs when ever I change orientation and/or click on the sharing button.
As a big YouTube watcher I am so tired of this crap. I mean jeez I'm on pretty fast LTE and all I get is constant buffering. I can't watch an HD view for more then 30 seconds without it buffering for 5-10 seconds. And if I turn the HD off the picture looks so horrible I can barely make out what I'm watching. Anything that can be done to improve this?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I was beginning to thunk that it was my internet. Even when I use TubeMate to download the videos before I watch them (which I usually do), I've noticed that the downloads run a LOT slower. I'm talking from 5MBps to 200KBps.

As of today Youtube isn't running so hott on my desktop either just keeps skipping using chrome. I don't know if it has to do with my uverse or youtube servers. The funny thing is I just used the app on my phone and it played fine finally lol.
I think youtube was having problems a few days ago, I know I read something about server issues around that time.

Youtube (Google) buffers the streaming a lot in the past few years and getting worse. They are known to be prioritizing traffic lately which will result in buffering on YouTube Android, Windows, Linux, Ipod, Ipad etc etc etc.. Nothing to do with your connection, at least what you are referring to and nothing Sprint can do to help unfortunately.
On the YouTube video u have 1 bar of wifi and on the speedtest ur on 4g (lucky btw). Armrest ur YouTube works mines been busted it just stops buffering completely at 50 secs but during those 50 sec it doesn't buffer.

I have an issue when trying to watch YouTube on my Nexus 10 whole tethered to my DNA. More often than not, it just gets stuck, the wheel keeps spinning, and it doesn't go anywhere. I can go to my phone and watch the video without an issue, and youtube is fine on my home wifi. Other steaming apps, like Netflix and Xfinity don't have any problems.
