Hey guys,
just got an XZU c6833 and put my tmobile sim in it. everthing seems to work fine except mms. I have tried multiple times to go to mobile networks and download the internet & MMS settings but pics still wont send or receive. i also tried go sms to see if it was the stock sony app.
not rooted, no custom roms, no unlocked bootloader
searched these forums and the web to no avail
any ideas?
Hello,
You need to find the good settings, and delete others.
Need only 2 APNs, DATA and MMS. Sometimes only one is OK.
For MMS you need to select it with the dot where you can see APNs names.
It's good to see other Android phone with same provider to exclude problem of settings.
Wich one is it, and where are you from?
I'm tired, not English, sorry if not easy to understand mate.
Sorry for the late response.
I finally got it figured out. You were right about the apn. I switched to the fast.tmobile apn and it worked flawlessly.
On a second note, has anyone noticed a speed difference on lte between fast.tmobile and epc.tmobile? It seems epc is quite a bit faster. But my mms only works on fast.
Sent a long time ago from a galaxy far, far away...
For my personnal information what is the ip or url for this both APNs? (fast & epc)
Speed and/or ping is routing depending for each APN adress gate and adress to connect.
My english suck? YES! put the pedal2themetal!!!
Can you post your settings you use? And where do you go in settings? I got my ZU today and I have this issue.
I tried looking for the settings to change, but only found the download mms settings.
Thanks

Hello need some help if anybody has an idea about my problem.
I bot O1 from UK lock free with froyo 2.2.1 on it. I tried to update it with lg software crap and bricked the phone. Than after some research downloaded KDZ and a room with froyo 2.2.2 which i installed. Unfortunately the room had all T-mobile crap which does dot really affect the work of the phone. All works fine but can not send MMS. Any idea or just wait for gingerbread and update?
TKS
Try the setting from https://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/wiki/APNlist .
For me i have to put in "APN type: default, supl" to work with my mobile provider in Singapore.
APN settings
It seems your APN settings are not properly configured.
Maybe you will find your APN settings here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=564459
Good luck!
Not working still. More ideas or just wait for the gingerbread update?

MMS
Is your data enabled while you send the MMS?
I have internet which means that data transfer works in 3G. My provider is vodafone AL.
When I try to send mms it changes from 3g to H and than does not send as returns to 3G.
It looks that I will have to wait for gingerbread. I do not want to root.
Hhhmmmnnn
It seems only your MMS setting is not properly configured.
Try installing Tweakker from the Market. Maybe it can help you.
Enjoy your phone while waiting for the GB update
Dunno, any decent operator should be able to send you the proper settings for MMS/Internet via a special SMS. You just open the SMS and are all set.
They tried by sms and i also went into one of their shops they did not understand why , just suggested a downgrade to 2.2.1 which i think with the GB near the corner was useless. Tweeaker did not work either.
However great phone for the price and love the battery life ( 2 straight days but using task killer and android booster)
I'll try to make this post as short as possible while still including all the details. I own an unlocked samsung galaxy s 2 in the US and have ATT as my provider.
After flashing different ROMs and firmware (exynos, lite'ning, cognition and the chainfire version of my firmware to be exact), my data connection is gone. I wrestled with it yesterday to no avail, because in the end my "Mobile network state" is always disconnected. Today, however, I changed the apn settings to the old ATT "wap" settings and the internet was restored. The speeds were somewhat slow, but i didn't care so long as they remained functioning. About two hours later - the connection crapped out. Oh, and I should also mention - I got a new sim card from ATT today assuming that my issue was a messed up and card from flashing too many roms with it still inside. Needless to say, that didn't work.
So, I'm here now attempting all sorts of remedies with no luck. ATM I am on cog 5.1 with the "correct" apn settings found here on xda, which hasn't worked either.
Has anyone else has this issue of losing their data connection altogether (although keeping wifi)? Does anyone have suggestions that might bring the data back to life?
Thanks!

what correct* apn settings are you using?
I'm using "phone" for the APN and leaving the rest blank (with the exception of APN type, which is internet).
Just minutes ago I reset to default APNs one more time to see if it would work, but nothing. I'll try the wap.cingular APN now to see if it at least picks up some data.

If you are still ' Rom hunting' as such, it is always a good idea to use program like apn manager so you dont have to manually enter your settings after every flash.
As my provider has nearly every field full, it can be a very timely exercise every time you change roms - lets face it, it can take some time to find the one we love

Those settings, wherever they're from, WORK. I had memorized the other common one already, so as soon as I saw the differences in yours I knew it would work. Unfortunately, I (literally) couldn't thank you enough for it.
Is that apn yours personally or just dug up from elsewhere here on XDA? I'm hoping it stands the test of time and continues to work after tonight... The speeds are all over the place for some reason, but at this point it doesn't matter to me, I'm just glad I don't need a WIFI connection at all times.
Oh, and the APN manager is downloading as we speak - good call. I've followed DG's from when I had my captivate a while back, so I'm gonna continue testing Cognition out for a little longer. Maybe like another day - then back to flashing =)

your welcome.
there are a number of apn settings floating around here, but the ones I provided always work
I don't remember where I got them...but they are pretty standard
Seem to be having them on every ROM i try.
APN Settings are correct. They're automatically retrieved when installing a new ROM.
I'm on O2.
I have tried Stock messaging APP, GO SMS Etc.
The message just constantly says 'sending' Nothing more happens.
same problem here... i'm on ics
Same problem here i'm on hydrog3nICS 31.03.......

Have you tried other ICS ROMS?
What network re you both on?
Maybe a dumb question, but have you tried sending to several would-be recipients?
I ask because I had the same problem - all ROMs, all kernels - a few weeks back, or so I thought. But the problem was with my wife's phone, not mine.
Took me about 40 attempts before I thought of trying someone else...
Tried Wanams 10.4 ROM. It seemed to send earlier. Then after ive set my phone up.I tested again, and it gave me the.
Unfortunately messaging has stopped
Error again.!?

Yeah, just tried sending one to myself. No-go.
I had the same issues you have, but a mate of mine who works as an O2 Guru helped me sort it out
I now have only 2 APNs, just the ones I need, as I deleted all the others myself (you probably don't have to do this yourself)
You need one for internet/3G access, and one for MMS:
Internet APN (jpg image)
MMS APN (jpg image)
Passwords should be "password" if I remember correctly
These are O2 postpay/contract settings btw, not pay as you go, those might be different.
Also, screenshots were taken on CM9, so some of the settings (like APN type) may look different. The Internet APN's type should just be Internet and the MMS APN's type should be just MMS.
According to my mate you also have to do a battery pull after saving the APN settings, but I just rebooted.
Also just to make sure you're not as dumb as I was, make sure your mobile data is turned on
I wondering for ages why my MMS wouldn't work until I was told I needed mobile data on

Pretty sure ive used these before.
I just seem to keep getting the message.' Unfortunately Messaging has stopped'
It still says the picture is sending but never does send!
I've tapped them in. gunna reboot, take battery out and try message myself as a test!
Seems to have worked!
Ive also entered the MMSC settings into GOSMS app. There is an area under the MMS bit on GOSMS.
Sent and receieved. Finally!
Thanks a lot mate, saved me alot of bother!
No problem, just passing on info that was given to me

I had the same problem not only with whatsapp but also with viber etc. I fixed it by creatin my APN settings manually.
Settings/Mobile Network/Connection Settings than tap home buttons left key / New APN
you can ask APN settings to your cell provider.
Usually it's not the cause of Whatsapp but your provider blocking it.
Many (if not most) providers are either incapable or unwilling to use transparent packet inspection (not necessarely Layer-7) and rely on the phone to have a Proxy server configured in the APN.
Interestingly exactly this proxy is usually not even given in the configuration details.
Some providers (such as mine) even attempt to do their bandwith throttling via the proxy. I don't complain since I don't use it =)
But other applications are ok with this default configuration. And Whatsapp in my HTC phone worked ok on 3G data with default settings...
later edit - found the solution 4 the problem, when flashed the new omega rom, it put all the APN profiles my provider has, including some ****ty MMS and WAP APNs. After I deleted those and left only the Internet APN, things got back in normal.

Whatsapp application problem
Hi all,
I am using samsung galaxy s duos.I am unable to send messages through whatsapp when I am using aircel network, other networks it is working fine.Is that the problem with aircel n/w or whatsapp application. If any suggestions pls give me replies......http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif
Also had a problem with WhatsApp messages not being delivered when on 3G but they would on Wifi. I thought it was something to do with droidwall but the resetting off APN settings makes sense.
I shall try that and hopefully it works.
Okay resetting the APN's did not work.
I am running Omega Rom and Jkay but this happened when I ran stock as well.
On 3G messages will sometimes come through immediately, sometimes not. They will always come through on Wifi. They will also come through if I open Whatsapp. Not sure if it is ISP related but when I had a Nokia on same ISP I never had this problem.
Does anyone know if something in Droidwall would be blocking this?
Thanks!
I was having problems since yesterday with my phone. Even not having the S3, one quick look here and found the solution. Thanks.

Since I've had the phone I've not been able to recieve mms messages. I'm using Tmobile and everything else works great. I had TMobile on my Z3c for a little bit. There was a setting that I had to change from the reccomended APN settings to get MMS to work. I want to say the IPv4 had to be selected and not both or 6 under APN protocol.
I'm having this exact same issue but with AT&T. My APN settings appear to be perfect but I can't send or receive picture messages on my wife's phone. I've tried it on LTE and on WiFi. I also tried different messaging apps too.

My settings are already ipv4 for both. I tried toggling it to 4 and 6 and no change.
Same problem with t Mobile here. I called t Mobile to ensure all my settings were right. The t Mobile support then called Sony! Allegedly Sony knows it's a problem and we're stuck waiting for an update to fix it
What country are you guys in? I'm on T-Mobile USA, my APN protocol is IPv6, and MMS is working fine on my E5823.
Got my Z5c up and running. AT&T downloaded APN is completely different for this phone over the Z3c! Not really sure what T-mobile should use based off of how different the settings are.

My mms is working but severely delayed. I'm not receiving mms when they are sent. I am sitting next to someone and just got an mms from them that they said they sent 3 hours ago. It seems the quality of all my mms are poor also and grainy both sent and received. All my apn settings seem to be in order. And I'm T-Mobile USA
My stock messaging app still doesn't work on Tmobile USA. I've been using Textra and it works but don't get emoji from my wife's iphone through either app.

Wow? I'm on T-Mobile usa too and it's not working. Are you using the stock software? Would you mind screen shooting the rest of your APN or just typing in what your using so I can try and replicate please?
In the end, I had to call ATT to get mine working. We reviewed my APN settings (which were all correct) and then she tried "pushing an update" to the phone and it magically worked. I think they had something blocked on their side.
