I have re-flashed the phone with a stock version (I never did any flashing/rooting before this, but have on a previous phone so I know how). I would just factory reset, but I NEED the videos I recorded today. Is there a way to pull files without booting (I can get recovery and download modes, no option is available for mounting the USB connection like I have read about). It is not in developer mode, and I don't think it would matter if it was because I can't boot past app loading (to my belief). When I flashed the device, it loaded and started "upgrading android" upon completion is said starting apps and then rebooted. If I can't pull files can I remove 3rd party apps.

This is going to be a little long, but I figured the more info the better. I recieved a TF201 from a friend of mine. He already had it rooted and running a custom ROM. It was loaded down with a bunch of stuff so I attempted a factory restore through CWM so I could start over and customize to my liking. Everything went fine (or so I thought) It booted back up to stock interface and still had root intact. I downloaded Astro FM from Play Store just to have a look around and make sure everything was intact. Everything seemed normal but suddenly rebooted and stuck at splash screen. Im able to boot into recovery still so first thing I tried was loading a backup as there were about 6 of them in the list of backups. None of them work, I just get "No files found" error. Next I tried to reload stock ROM with the Install zip from SD option. Also getting no files found error. somehow the SD card has nothing on it anymore even after copying a zip of the stock ROM downloaded from ASUS. The only other thing I can do that I know of is instead of loading recovery, is go into the cold boot menu with the 3 icons in the middle of the screen. By pressing nothing, it says that it is cold-booting Linux. This process just hangs and nothing happens. It does attempt to install MTP device drivers (which were already previously installed) but ends in an error (Failed). Selecting the middle option gives me "Starting Fastboot USB download protocol" but this also hangs and does nothing. Lastly the "Wipe Data" option completes it process and says "Wipe-Data done" but then also hangs and does nothing. At this point Im assuming its Hard Bricked and nothing can be done but I just wanted to see if anyone would be able to help. I have read a lot of similar posts on here but haven't been able to find anything that helps. Most other people with similar problems at least have a way to install from SD but my device wont recognize anything on the card. Does anyone know of anyway to fix this??
To start off, I suffered, what seems to be a common problem, of the fingerprint unlock on Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge randomly being unable to recognise my fingerprint. Followed by my back-up password not being accepted. Unfortunately, I turned off my data and wifi before the phone locked so the problem doesn't seem to be able to resolve itself unless I Factory Reset the phone.
This i am happy to do as long as I can find some way to retrieve the media files from the phone (just pictures and videos). I read up and watched some videos where some people were able to use ADB through Recovery Mode or Field Test mode, and pull the files from the phone. These people however were using older models of Android phones but I decided to read numerous pages etc and go ahead and try.
I set up everything (I believe) i needed on my Mac Book pro in order to use the Adb Terminal. However when I tried to connect my phone Adb couldn't detect my device. I then decided (after reading somewhere to do so) to press "Apply update using ADB" on the Recovery menu. Again, Adb did not detect my device.
i left this screen up on my phone which resulted in "dm-verity verification failed..." appearing at the bottom of the screen. It then switched back to the Recovery menu and continues to show "dm-verity verification failed..." at the base of the screen. Now when I try and power up the phone normally, the start up screen just repeatedly flashes and it goes no further than that.
Im not completely brain dead when it comes to this stuff but I obviously don't fully understand what I am doing, So Im wondering if there is a genius out there who, even after what I've done, can help me pull the files from my phone before I have to Factory Reset!
The problem is, that you don't have the ability to use adb pull through the stock recovery. This kind of thing can only be done via a custom recovery like TWRP, CWM, or Philz. Now that it's not booting, pretty much the only thing to try is to install a custom recovery and boot directly into it before it tries to restart. Make sure you find one for the correct variant of your phone. If yours is a VZW or ATT version, you're in trouble because they don't have custom recoveries like that for them.
Hello. My name is ford, i have a galaxy grand prime with no current OS on it. this is because i was attempting to install a custom ROM onto said phone and the video i had watched, had me go into twrp, (which i had installed previously) and wipe the internal storage. ( i had used odin to flash onto the phone). I then god a custom rom, lineage os i believe, and attempted to install with twrp, but a good 75 % of the way through, no matter what, the phone would reboot. this happened with multiple roms i had tried, all ending with the same result, with the phone still having no os. i then thought that it might work with cwm instead. so from there, i had installed cwm, also with odin, with twrp still installed. i figured cwm would go ahead and either become the default cstom recovery, or it would just replace twrp altogether, but then after i had rebooted and put in the key combination for the custom recovery, it would still show the text in the top left for twrp, but then the screen goes black. I had turned the phone on and off multiple times with the same result every time. i don't know this is because the phone may be confused as to which recovery to boot into, or some other alternative reason, but it will not boot into anything now, just a black screen. I still know the phone is on, because it is noticeably lit, like it is just displaying a black screen. Now to the reason for my post, (if that wasn't enough), i then just tried installing my roms with odin. and no, there is nothing wrong with the roms, as they are all tar, and are all valid, but whenever i attempt to flash any rom, the little debug will say "file analysis" and then a second later crash. (by crash i mean windows will has it has stopped working). As i have said this has happened with all roms. It doesnt matter what order i do the steps in (plug in phone, then load files; load files, then plug in phone etc...), and i have reinstalled the c++ redistributable to make sure i have all of the dll's, but absolutely nothing is working. and no it is not because of the versions of odin, because i have tried multiple. So honestly im just aggravated now. Am i just stuck with a phone with no os now, or what? Seriously will try anything. PLEASE HELP
Samsung sgh-i537 (S4 Active AT&T) 4.4.2 NE3, no root, app store apps only.
Was listening to iheart when phone rebooted sorta. Get ATT logo, plays noise, heats up. That's it.
I would like to recover a few data files before reseting phone.
Is it possible to:
A. use odin to reflash current os or c6,7 ota with out a system wipe?
B. Access via adb to copy/backup files either thru reovery mode or download(odin) mode.
I thought restoring system might fix but have no way of knowing what is wrong other than it don;t work.
Saw an article where an s3 was accessed by adb using clockwork recovery usb debug. I cannot find an image to flash and all indications are the load will fail. TWRP have usb debug? any others that might work. No real fears on bricking bricked phone at this point.
Thanx for your time.
I have succesfully been rooted and for more than 3 years but I needed to uninstall root because some bank apps were updated and I couldn't use them anymore. After trying a bunch of stuff I wanted to uninstall stable Magisk and try the alpha version., so I pressed the Uninstall Magisk button in the app. My phone didn't want to reboot anymore (bootloop) and I lost TWRP, so i did the button dance and factory reset it. The reset seemed to only take a few seconds, no matter how many times i retried it (so possibly something went wrong there). It rebooted after a long wait (5-10 min) and I entered the setup. A few problems are now present: wifi doesn't work, random freezes and reboots (e.g. opening camera app freezes the device), every reboot takes 5-10 min etc. I enabled usb debugging in order to try the whole process of rooting the device again but only when starting the process I notices download mode loads (the blue dots) but is never entered and the device just reboots instead. It is recognized by adb but not by fastboot. LGUP recognizes the devices when it's turned on but when starting the downgrade to 10d, the device never enters download mode and reboots. LGUP just throws an error.
What are my options now?
EDIT:
So the currently i can access some basic mode which tells me it has been unlocked once and how to unlock it (no clue what this mode would be called), the loading screen for the download mode and normal turned on system mode.
EDIT2: I have a twrp backup.ab on my pc (backed up everything I think) from just before the changes. Can I somehow restore this without twrp? if I use adb restore backup.ab while the phone is on it sayw restore started and a few seconds later restore ended but nothing changes.
I am running into the EXACT SAME ISSUE. I have been trying different things such as flashing and wiping in different TWRP versions and orangefox. Also tried restoring previous backups and partitions. Nothing yet, will let you know if a solution comes along. I was messing around with flashing GSI and android 12 using GSI when this became a problem
Full wipe and data format, inti support via orange fox then Flashing kdz of 20H in recovery fixed my DL mode.
