I've had issues with youtube on aokp/aosp roms. All the videos, even on hq and on good wifi speeds have been blurry on all aosp/aokp roms. It's not a big issue but it's really frustrating and annoying when I try to watch a video from the official application and they're all blurry but they work just fine on the samsung based roms.
Does anyone know if there is some sort of fix, except for running a ****ty 3rd party application bloated with apps/missing functionality from the youtube 5.x update?

So, I cannot find anything about this on the web anywhere. I have searched high and low but so far, nothing. Anyway, I've noticed that on AOSP ROMS such as MIUI, Cyanogen and now Oxygen (I just tried Oxygen, OH MY GOD its amazing) there seems to be a bug in any version of the YouTube app. If you load a HQ video, rotate it landscape and let the playback bar fade away, there appears to be a thin bar of distortion that runs along the bottom of the video, about the size of the aforementioned playback bar. Its not there is Sammy ROMs, and seems to be in every AOSP ROM I've used regardless of version and kernel. Here's what I've tried to fix it:
Wipe Dalvik, Cache and Data
Flash a different kernel
Use an older youtube.apk version
Don't update from the market
Do update from the market
Clear youtube app data
It doesn't go away. It also doesn't really bother me that much, I just wanted to see if anyone else has it or not? My workmate's GS2 does as well with any AOSP ROMs. I can't provide a screenshot for obvious reasons, sorry.
I think that there is not much we can do about it. AOSP roms have trouble with native HD support. They don't have the source code for the drivers, so they probably won't be able to fix this.
Have you tried an other youtube app?
I have tried many AOSP roms (actually mostly all of them) for i9100g (cyanogen was first ) and the major reason i did not stick to any of them for long time was because of the bad support for hardware accelerated Video play.
Most of the videos play on stock rom without any problem out of the box
Has this issue been addressed or can it be addressed ?
Is there any developer who can look into this??
This would help me and many others to permanently transition to the better performing AOSP roms.
I am a die hard fan of AOSP and wanting to know whether this has been fixed in any of the roms.
Since cyanogen and AOKP seem to be the base for most of roms for my device, i request them to fix it. Others will be fixed automatically.
does anyone face this problem or is it only me????
Fixed using dice player(best video player)
it is better than mx player
I see lots of mentions and complaints about poor YouTube performance with hd videos, especially on cm10, etc. Is there any fix, modded app, setting, etc that alleviates the problem?

I really want to see if there is a fix to this too. I can not watch hd videos at all.
A bump.

I tried both CM10 (experimental) and AOKP 4.1.2 and both are excellent ROMs, however, I did experience some jerkiness in both the Youtube app and via the browser but not in all videos. I've gone back to a ICS 4.0.4 ROM and HD video via youtube app (4.1.47) and browser (Dolphin) are jerk-free and smooth. I think I'll wait until all the issues and bugs have been ironed out before going over to JB.
Jerky? Laggy? YouTube works fine for me. HD videos sometimes will load slow, but it will do the same on my galaxy s3 occasionally

hi guys, this may have been better in the development forum, but because I don't post on xda, I cannot post a reply there.
I'm having an issue with the camera on my Evo 3D GSM, specifically with recording videos. Taking stills is perfect.
Whenever I try to shoot video, the camera app crashes and the phone restarts. In 720p, this is almost instant, whereas in 480p it will record for around a minute normally. Now and then, it will record, but normally the video is glitchy, and often displays "this video cannot be played" before the end, even when it does record fine, which is rarely.
My first thought was that it may be an issue with the SD card. I tried with a class 10 16GB and still had the same problem. I also tried flashing various ROMs (JB, ICS) and all of them have the same issue. I also tried clearing the data and cache for the gallery app, and trying a 3rd party camera app which acted in the same way.
I thought maybe it was an issue with my device, but the camera works fine on sense based ROMs. AOSP 4.2 by helicopter88 will record in 480p just fine. CM10/10.1 record 480p for normally up to a minute, AOKP crashes both on 480 and 720. I also thought that it want an isne with the ROMs, but no one else using the ROMs (Disarmed Toaster, Gangnam Style and helicopter88's stuff) has reported the same issue.
any advice or suggestions from more experienced Android users is appreciated. ask if you need more information. thanks
Some evo's have more problems with the camera then others. I for one was somehow lucky enough to get a phone that has zero recording issues. Some people have scanline problems. You mentioned that Sense based roms work. The Buttered Toast kernel has a fix for the camera on AOSP/AOKP, so flashing that kernel might help. I don't know if it will also fix CM roms or not, but its worth a try?
Hi,
I have a weird issue with my SGS3. On several roms so far (Slimbean, Slimkat, Omega and Android Revolution), any image recorded from a non-stock camera app looks like a kaleidoscope.
I've tried Autoguard, Dailyroads voyager and several other apps, and they all do the same thing. The image is extremely distorted.
Pictures are ok, and the stock camera app records just fine, but all other apps do it.
I have a video to show what I mean but apparently I can't post it since I'm a new user. So I posted a screencap from that video in the attachment.
Is there any way to fix this?
