Hi all,
I bought 2 IP cameras for my parents as a sort of burglary alarm.
The camera's are connected to the WIFI network and can send e-mails when motion is detected. This works very well and suits their needs.
I set up a Gmail account just for the camera's. I added the new Gmail account to the gmail app of my parents and set a different notification sound to it so they can hear immediatly that a mail came in from the cameras. But, sometimes they miss it when they don't pay attention to their phones.
What I'm looking for is an app that is triggered when a certain mail comes in, or on a certain account and sets off some loud sounding alarm or something like that.
Anyone an idea???

Hi all,
There doesn't seem to be an option to switch off repeat notifications. Whenever I receive an email and I don't read it immediately, I'll get a repeat notification sound every 5 minutes or so until I acknowledge the email in some way.
I have looked to no avail, so am hoping that someone can point out where this option is. I have set up quiet time from 10PM - 7AM, but this isn't helping outside these quiet hours.
Hope you can help.
Thanks..
I think its a gmail bug. Except for me I get the messages report in winmo. Even if I delete them they come back. Fu!$&ng annoying. Even though I don't use winmo, I still see them if I have to do a restart or something
I've never bad this problem at all...

I'm using an app called Improved Email. Not syncing to Gmail, but internal mail app grabs corporate exchange, improved mail to another exchange server and also a hotmail account. Still don't see an option to disable the repeat notifications..
Are you having this problem with Gmail, or a different mail app? Because there are a few bugs ive noticed with the Gmail app like mattfmartin said. Sometimes I wont receive an email in WM but the moment i boot up into Android i start getting notifications from old & new emails.

Hi, I don't use gmail at all. I don't have a problem receiving email either, its just that when I do receive emails the notification sounds keep sounding every 5 minutes until I go into the mail application and read them which I don't often have time to do so the repeat notification sounds become quite annoying after 15 minutes or so, especially at work where they annoy other work colleagues as well.
my phone beeps one time, then the orange light stays on until i check it..
this must be build specific.. perhaps post in the build thread.
I dont use gmail either. And I get the notification repeats for everything. It's especially annoying for voicemail, and it doesnt matter if I have new voicemail or not, I check all the messages and then the notification comes back 5-10 minutes later, then I check again and there are no new messages... It's just annoying really though, not that big of a deal...
Well I guess it depends which way you look at this...
I use (used) google voice strictly for voicemail on the Evo4g but it appears that somehow this works differently on the E3d.
The app essentially hijacked my phone and made itself the default receiver of text messages as well as voice/voicemail. I liked it better when i had the choice which program make all my calls and I much prefer the sense sms app over the one built into google voice.
Maybe i did something different but I noticed even the differences in the setup of google voice...it seems that sprint's carrier integration now allows for all this. Just wish i had the option to choose what part of the app does what.
Thought others might want to know as well. phone is GREAT by the way =]o
Did the same thing for me. Easy fix though. Go to voice.google.com and Deactivate Google Voice on your Sprint phone in Voice Settings. Deactivate call forwarding. Then you can re-enable call forwarding.
I was pissy about this myself. I hadn't tried the fix but unwilling as soon as I get to my pc.
So does this work? Does this just do phone or text as well? any update?
It's not an EVO 3D thing it's a Sprint Google integration thing. You just didn't setup your EVO from scratch after the Voice integration happened.
I love Google Voice integration. I've posted these links in other threads but they are good reads on why you are better off actually integrating and how to still use your default messaging apps.

Here are some other cool things I'm able to do now myself. I can make outbound and inbound calls on my google talk using my cell number on my computer wherever I have internet access. I bought an OBI110 and hooked up a phone to it so now I have free VOIP calls whenever I answer or receive calls to my CELL number on this phone. Now I don't have to give anyone a different number and I can still control who gets to reach me at what time of the day. I can answer and receive texts on my computer, laptop, tablet all using my cell number. All my texts are backed up and searchable to my google voice account (even texts I send from my phone using one of the regular messaging apps, not google voice app)
My opinion. Take the time and setup integration right. It's one MAJOR advantage of being an Android user on Sprint now. You're missing out on way more by not setting it up than you would by setting it up.
Oh and for those who don't want to lose your old Google Voice Number, Google lets you keep additional numbers at $20 per number.
I'm curious to know what instant messengers other people are using.
Currently I'm using trillian, and I like it, however I'd like the option to get a notification when certain contacts login (but not every contact). Is there any app that does this?
It would also be usefull if it supported multiple protocols, I'd rather not have multiple i.m. apps running at once.
tried IM+....only other multi client I know of with a decent gui...not sure about individual alerts based on contact
Should try talk.to. Amazingly simple UI and works really well.

I forgot to mention, I need to use a messenger that works over data and not sms since I don't have a messaging plan. also I read this comment under the talk.to comments section "Changing the status of all my accounts to a Talk.to promotion without asking is completely unacceptable, and a shame because the app works great."
Hello everybody,
I updated my GT-P7510 to ICS and noticed an annoying behavior in email-notification. It keeps notifying me of incoming email, even though I read the mail, it notified me of. As this didn't help, I pressed the delete button in "notification", still no change - every several minutes (not in equal intervals) it kept ringing. Has anyone experienced something similar with his/hers GT-P7510? Does anyone have any idea as to why it behaves like that?
Thanx

Same problem here.
Incoming mail setting are double checked, don't know if this is normal behavior....
Not shure if it helps, but i had the problem when i used the app light flow for LED control with ics on my nexus. Everytime my LED started flashing, i read the message, but still the led was flashing afterwards.
The difference in ICS, regarding to the developer of this app, is that ics don't set a flag for noticed notifications. That means regarding to your email client you are using it could be that this client doesn't see an read messangs or interpretes that as still unread.
Or could it simple be that you use a different client for yor mails, besides gmail and the mail is still unread in gmail app?

Personally i use gmail app, which works great, and samsung email app for different accounts.
On samsung mail app, only on one account i face this problem, so i guess has to do with this specific pop mail synchronization and exchange messages server.
Can't say much to this, because i only use gmail respective k9 with imap on my tab. But what i can say so far is, that i don't have this issiue with my configuration. Maybe your hind with pop3 leets you to the solution.
This has happened on the S20, S21, S22 and now the S23 ultra
setup from new or smart switch, played with all the battery optimisation settings and app settings but I always seem to get delayed gmail notifications vs iphone which has instant gmail app alarms 100% of the time.
I even tried this adb fix https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-notification-fix-works-100.3865551/ which seem to have worked for one day but returned to delays the next day (phone hasn’t been rebooted)
I’m paying £1300+ for a device, I shouldnt have to find my own fixes for this issue. Android need to sort this out once and for all, it’s been happening for years. Doze Is a pain.
you may say, use another email client but none support the gmail categories primary, social and promotions which I use a lot and works very well filtering emails, other apps have a unified inbox and I’d be forever receiving new emails.
lve now sent the s23 ultra back and im back on my iPhone, their gmail app is unrivalled Imo.
One day they will fix this!
Until that day then
I don't know why you felt the need to make this post after you already returned the phone when nobody can suggest anything to fix the issue but enjoy your iPhone I guess? It's your first post since 2021, someone probably would have had a fix beyond switching email apps by now.
Bye. Won't be missed.
For those who is experiencing similar issues try to put gmail in never sleeping apps category(battery settings)

Lol. Doesn’t work.
Just put apps that you need notification in milliseconds that they are arrive in never sleeping apps and you will be fine...
The issue is with the Gmail-app is my experience. When using gmail-account in Samsung Email-app, with setting to auto-synchronise on receipt, email notifications arrive instantly...
