Hi XDA Community,
I want to flash this Kit Kat ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2603396
At the moment I'm running the Enigma ROM v4.1. on Stock Sony Kernel (at least I think thats the kernel I flashed most recently). In the Settings it shows following Kernel Version:
3.0.8+
[email protected]) )
#1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Mar 13 11:51:07 2013
Now my problem is that I can't get into recovery to flash the right kernel and the ROM afterwards. Fast- and Flashmode aren't working too (Loosing connection after a few Seconds, I can't even reinstall drivers. Windows says that there aren't any drivers into the fastboot driver package I downloaded today. I downloaded several ones, even a full fastboot driver package for almost all devices).
I have all necessary Data on my phone as well as on my PC, I only need to get them together... I tried to install CWM Recovery via Recover X and the CWM Manager App. But there is no Recovery on my phone (tried to reboot by Terminal Emulator Command into Recovery, only got a Error that there isn't a Recovery on the phone)
I can acces my phones storage by Using MyPhoneExplorer and I can acces these data with ES Data Explorer on my Phone. I'd basicly need an .apk file wich flashes the Kernel whilst running the phone. I think that this can't be possible but maybe someone has a workaround (maybe installing the Kernel onto another partition to not affect the running system or something like that).
The Reason for me to fllash another ROM is that theres basicly nothing working on my phone at the Moment. I can't do any downloads on it (Even Apps from Google Play, it only displays a dashed line where usually the progress of the Download appears). Allmost all preinstalled Apps are not working proper too (SMS crashes imedeately after start, having the same Issue with Calls, the alarm Clock crashes when it should ring (I only get a Notification, no Sound/Vibration. When I try to disable it, it crashes. It's going on like that for more Apps...).
The Important Apps such as SuperUser, Settings and Terminal Emulator are working. I have Root rights and my BL is unlocked (was able to look it up by typing *#*#7378423#*#*). Enabling USB Debugging is possible to.
Do anybody of you have any Idea to flash the new Kernel (I'd use the CM11 Kernel with working Recovery as mentioned in the Thread I linked up there)?
Kind Regards and thanks in advance

You not realy a hacker are ya?
To begin with, untill you had your flash/fastboot mode working don't attampt install anything, because when things get sour, and they will, you will be left with a brick.
You can install CWM recovery from here.
Now to get to the root of your problem, what was changed since the last time you have used flash/fastboot mode?
Is it the same computer/OS you have been using before or maybe you have made a foolish thing like upgrading to windows 8 or above?
I only changed ROM and Kernel. I did no Hard- and Software changes on my PC. Used and Using Windows 7 64Bit Home Premium Service Pack 1. Hopefully it won't ever be necessary to do that foolish thing with "upgrading" to win8 :fingers-crossed:
I don't know last kernel with working Fastboot anymore. The only thing I know that I had been running Paranoid Android (Android 4.1.2, don't know the Version Number).
I tried to install the Drivers on 2 other PCs, running Win8.1 64Bit and Win7 32Bit, as well, nothing worked. Maybe I need to reinstall Windows all the Way from the beginning to clear all drivers and that stuff. As this would take really long I'd prefer a "normal" solution for sure.
The Link you posted is for locked BL. Will it work with Unlocked BL too?
Thanks for your answer, I hope I could give you some further information wich gives you the opinion to give me a solution.
EDIT:
My PC just reminded me that theres another Info that may could help:
Sony PC Companion get's that there is a Sony phone plugged in. It can't get further information so it notifiys me that My (zero) is connected. If I want to sync anything It's not possible because it can't install any drivers or any other necessary software.

So what happened between the time it worked (you had to have fastboot to unlock bootloader) and now?

Maybe try to reinstal PC Companion though I am not sure it installs fastboot drivers.
Did you install the drivers from flashtool drivers folder(Xperia P, flash mode, and fasboot drivers)
I tried to reinstall Fastboot drivers because I had troubles with normal fastboot flashing (sending boot failed after displaying the speed of transmission). Sorry I totally forgot to mention this... My Problem with reinstalling drivers is that I can open the window "properties" of S1 Fastboot, but I can't install drivers (I'm navigating to my,downloaded FB drivers but Windows only says that there are no drivers in the folder. They are the right ones and I didn't forget to unzip them etc.).
Don't know how I can install them alternatively so I tried to find a App wich installs the Recovery so I could flash Kernel and Rom there.
Tried to flash Recovery with your linked .batch, did not worked to. It only displays loads of Error messages. Can't upload the log at the moment. If needed I'll do round about 5PM GMT+1.
I don't think that PC companion contains FB drivers but I'll reinstall it.
I'm not sure if I installed the drivers of Flashtool and as I'm not on my PC atm I can't look it up. Will do that too when I'm back at home.
Thanks for all that tips, I think the Flashtool drivers will be the key...
To install CWM you need to have USB debugging enabled in developer options.
I know that I need to enable it. It was enabled when I tried to install the recovery. I can push data on my phone with my phone explorer, it needs usb debugging activated and it worked so it wasn't the reason for failing of recovery install.
I'll try to install the drivers of flashtool in a few minutes, hopefully it works then.
It failed. Still no FB- or Flashmode for more than a few seconds. I saw that there is a TWRP App. It's not compatible with SXP, but with Z, Z1, T and S Xperia Phones. As they have other hardware as the P I'll probably brick my device with trying to flash one of them. Is there another way to install any Recovery without using FB? ADB Tools could work too for that right? Or could I flash a Kernel with working Recovery by a Terminal Emulator command?
Installing Recovery with the CWM Recoverymanager .apk doesn't work because the SXP is not officially supported by CWM.
instal recoverx from playstore

Hi..
As it says, I was trying to unlock bootloader and turned out that Flashtool doesn't recognize my phone as rooted device at all, so why is that? I made sure that my phone is updated to the latest stock ROM, baseband..everything. And root works since I can access system files from root explorer (SU app is installed also)..I'm on Win8 and my phone was rooted using Flashtool 0.8.5 a long time ago..Any ideas?
I forgot to mention that "root" button on Flashtool is also grayed out.
Anyone?
have you tried latest flashtool ? windows 8 is new system with different structure like w7 or vista. however I have installed latest flashtool with PC Compaion on laptop with windows 8 and runs good. // the only think that I used there is flashing diferent kernels so I dont know if "root" button works or not.//
Yes I'm using the latest version with PC companion installed..
at my first try to flash I had several problems. One seemed to be caused by some kind of "wrong" root, means i could use all kinds of root apps correctly, but couldnt flash kernels etc... however, i used superoneclick and nothing changed.
As it didnt work, i repaired software via pccompanion and rooted with newest fllashtool (0.9) and all worked. I remember it because it nearly got me crying because i followed every step exactly.

have you tried run it as admin or trying compatibility mode? I dont have my laptop with w8 right now so I cant test it:/

I was able to get mine working with the combo of
1. uninstalling any HTC sync or sync manager and the HTC BMP USB Driver. Basically anything HTC.
2. Install HTC sync. Not sync manager. Go to the HTC support page and you'll see both listed. If you go to the specific phone support page it might not be there. (One S doesn't have the sync program, just sync manager iirc.)
3. Download PDAnet. When installing, It'll give a warning that you already have drivers installed and ask if you want to fix them or leave as is. I chose it to fix and it went though its process and I had working drivers after that.
I think this was already suggested before. I going back and giving thanks wherever due after this post. (On the mobile app right now)
Other easy way if you're using a One S is to download Hasoon2000's All-On-One Toolkit. He's updated the drivers for windows 8. I haven't tried it yet as mine are working so haven't had the need. I would assume his tool for any of the other phones he supports would have the updated drivers too.

And the phone is recognized fine when in regular mode. Though, whenever I reboot the phone into the Bootloader using adb, it restarts into the fastboot, but it doesn't change to "Fastboot USB" and shortly after I get a "USB Device Not Recognized" on my PC and it saying something about it malfunctioning. So I get stuck on "Waiting for device" when trying out this command "fastboot oem get_identifier_token."
Any ideas? I'm trying to unlock the bootloader and root so that I can install custom ROMs and kernels.
Hey there! Sorry my fix didn't work for you.
My question is, are you running windows 8 or 8.1? The reason I ask is because the 8.1 update has broken fastboot apparently. I don't remember the last time I tried on my computer to see if fastboot still works or not since I updated to 8.1.
If you are running 8.1 windows then the guide at droid-now.com seems to have worked for many people. Go to that site and search fastboot fix windows 8.1 or you could just Google that too I guess. I would paste the link right now but my phone is being stupid and not letting me paste it ATM. :-|
If that doesn't work then you may be able get what you need done by dual booting into Ubuntu if you feel comfortable doing so. You could easily make a bootable flash drive that you could boot into just for an emergency. I just used one for about 4 days while fixing my computer after I accidentally erased the partition tables of my hard drive, trying to make a permanent installation of Ubuntu. Got it fixed BTW! ats self on back:
Keep us posted if you get it fixed or have any more questions! I hope I've been at least a little helpful. I'll try to help any more I can if possible!
Good luck!

I am running Windows 8.1, however it looks like the fix only applies to Intel motherboards connecting through USB 3.0 ports. I do have USB 3.0 ports, but my motherboard is AMD and my USB3 controller reads "VIA USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0100 (Microsoft)." I'm not sure that the fix applies to me, unfortunately. Also, I am not connecting my phone to my PC using the USB3.0 ports.
I tried downloading the USB 3.0 Drivers for Windows 8 64-bit on the manufacturer's website for my motherboard (http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4305), but when I try to update my drivers to the ones I got from the website it says that the Microsoft provided ones are the most recent/ up to date drivers.

Be Advised, there is perhaps a way , you wil find in the link below, but be sure to use the right intel driver And only if you hae an intel chipset for usb3 , please read the comments and my bad experience :
Under win8.1/X64 that if you have(like me) an Intel 8 /c220 (or with a 4th generation like intel I7 4770k) you may encounter a big mess , and perhaps you''l have to do a clean install of win 8.1 : all the usb2 DEVICES were disconnected after the first iusb3xhc.inf driver install !! So no more usb/Bluetooth keyboard+mouse , fortunately i had an old ps2 keyboard and i was able to delete only with "tab/alt Tab/ctrl tab" keys the
"intel usb3 extensible " line in device manager, and as soon as i done a refresh (ALT+A) in device manager the previous driver(Microsoft) was reinstalled by win 8.1 andall the usb2 devices connected (mouse/keyb/hub etc)
http://plugable.com/2012/12/01/windo...#comment-19066
see there there's in the last comments at the bottom , Andrew(tks to him!)a link + modified drivers for intel8/c220)
and for me it worked mouse/keyB were functional during all the process
next step check the fastboot adb is working now
Here you go... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2061435
A later post I made (I havent updated the OP, shame on me...) is a link to some universal drivers from CWM that works fantastic! - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40108463#post40108463
Before trying this I would goto your device manager and right click on the currently installed drivers and uninstall them before installing the drivers again.
Hope that helps. I am using the link found in that second link and fastboot and adb works perfect. Also, while you can boot into fastboot, stock 1.58 will not let you run a lot of fastboot commands and will need to flash a different hboot.
Hello,
I hope that I am not asking a already existing question again, if so, please send me the link and I will follow the instructions there.
I could not find anything, so far, but I am nearly going mad after a day of trying to unbrick my phone.
So, I had CM 11 Snapshot M10 installed, the current clockworkmod, bootloader unlocked through htcdev.
Today I wanted to do a full wipe (including /sdcard, because there were tons of files which I didn't know, lately).
I don't know why, but i ended up wiping /system and /sdcard at the same time.
Now I don't have any system on the phone in order to boot and get adb or mount the phone as a USB drive, and no firmware on the phone which I could flash. I really have no idea how I can get any rom onto the phone, now...
I tried official RUUs ("Please download the RUU which fits your phone), ADB sideload with CWM ("no devices found"), ADB sideload with TWRP (same as with CWM), and now I am running out of ideas...
Does anyone have an idea how to or get ADB sideload working (USB drivers are installed on my PC, but it doesn't seem to work), or how to get a RUU wiorking (I would like to go back to the stock rom anyway, I miss sense by now), or any other way how to revive my phone?
I do have access to the bootloader, fastboot is working, and so is the recovery. Is there any information you would need?
It is an enrc2b international, no branding. CID is HTC__102.
fastboot getvar version-main outputs 2.18.401.3
I really hope that someone can help me out...
Moritz
Adb sideload needs up to 5min to recognise the device.
Or you flash twrp recovery. Which has mtp support (access via windows explorer)
If crusader's suggestion didn't work then:
Try to use a different USB port. If USB 2.0 use USB 3.0 and vice versa.
If that doesn't work too, try running cmd as admin.
Last resort : install Ubuntu or any other Linux distro, and install dev tools on it (check for guides ) .. I have a similar issue to yours when it comes to windows, restarting to Linux always works for me
Thanks for the tips so far...
Waiting for ADB did not change, and my PC (Win 8.1 x64) doesn't recognise the phone with TWRP in mtp.
I reinstalled the google drivers now (had outdated ones), and I am reinstalling the htc drivers too.
Then I'll try a USB 3.0 port, if that doesn't help I will have to try Linux...
Thanks so far!

EDIT: looks like my htc drivers were simply retarded. They worked as long as the phone booted into the OS, but failed if I was in the recovery.
Reinstalling worked.
I will now flash CM11 again, does anyone have an idea how to get the RUUs working, or get Sense back in another way?
I lost my old backup with Sense

Someone posted his backup files somewhere here on the forums...
First look at your CID (found at the top of the boot loader)
And secondly you can just install sense-based ROMs like viper or revolutionHD (I think that's what it was called) .. RevolutionHD is just stock sense basically with a few performance improvements.
Thank you very much!
You really saved my day
I was able to install CM11 now, it booted.
I instantly shut it down again, though, because I will now try RevolutionHD.
Stock sense (especially the gallery and camera app, never found anything comparable so far) with a few improvements sounds just awesome.
Exactly what I was hoping for, but I never imagined someone had actuall done it!!
Downloading it now, I think this will stay my ROM for the next year(s), depending on how long my X+ will keep on working...
Hi guys,
I have been searching for hours but I can't seem to find how to fix my problem.
I have a new Z5 Compact that I was trying to flash with the stock firmware but I somehow managed to brick it. I don't think I had the drivers installed properly when I tried to flash with flashtool but since flashtool didn't even detect my phone or appear to begin flashing it I don't know how I bricked it. Anyway after trying for hours to fix it on my own I can't seem to find the information that I need. I have installed the drivers properly as far as I can tell by allowing unsigned drivers on windows 10 but whenever I boot to flash mode the phone isn't detected. Nothing even comes up in Device Manager so there are no options to update drivers or anything. I just hold the volume down button, plug in the usb, the LED briefly flashes red before holding on green and then nothing happens. Neither Flashtool or PC Companion detect the phone and I have tried this on 2 different laptops running Windows 7 and Windows 10. If anyone has any instructions on how to get this to work on Ubuntu I'm willing to try that too as I also have Ubuntu installed but I am really at a loss for what else I can try.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

sounds dumb but have you tried a different port and different cable? i ran into the same problem and found out one of the ports on my laptop doesnt work for data. flashtool is a major pain, it took me three pcs to find one that it worked with and then it took a good 5 tries and reboots to have a successful flash. flashing twrp and then xpower would be easier imo.

Yeah, I have tried 7 ports and 3 cables across two different pcs. There's a desktop I can try on but I'll wait until tomorrow. It's really frustrating. I just wanted to root so that I could batch install my apps from Titanium but now I have got a brick. In the time that I have spent trying to fix it I could have selected and installed all the apps individually.

keep trying, it'll work after you figure out whats wrong with your install, flashtool is real finnicky. If your already soft bricked and only want root id suggest fastboot twrp 3.0.2 then flash xpower 3.0 and be done with it. the only real reason to use flashtool is to flash a new image onto the phone because you cant take an ota.

Oh, you mean to do that once I have fixed my current issue.
Hmm, I seem to be having a smiliar issue, except instead of flashmode, mine isn't detected in fastboot mode, tried a crap load of drivers and usb ports etc..

I tried following that guide but when I try to install the driver it just says "The INF file you selected does not support this method if installation". You didn't happen to have that problem and find a workaround did you?
Just an update on what I have tried if anyone has any suggestions...
I tried inserting a SIM in case that would make any difference. I have also tried it on a desktop pc as well as the two laptops now which is windows 7, 8.1 and 10. The Windows 8.1 attempt was a clean install and I used the advanced boot method to enable the installation of unsigned drivers. I had high hopes for that but it didn't work. What I find curious is there is no activity when I plug the phone in, in flash mode. If I plug it in, in fastboot mode it searches for drivers and the device appears in device manager but with flash mode I get nothing. I'm beginning to think that perhaps the device itself has a faulty flash mode.

Sadly no :/
I managed to flash a Z5 Compact with the same model number without any issues on the same computer that won't detect my handset so I'm pretty sure that it's an issue specific to this handset. Thanks everyone for their suggestions.
Hey guys, new member here but been a lurker off and on for awhile.. not sure what to do, you guys are my last hope.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime from straighttalk. Android version is 4.4.4 (I think).
Anyway, I was screwing with it trying to speed it up using a few apps I downloaded from the store, the apps let you uninstall apps that the normal manager won't let you and manage what system apps are allowed to run at startup..etc. also I was messing with applock and phone encryption.. So I'm not sure what messed things up.
Well needless to say, I shoulda been more careful, because now my phone is screwed! I can't view my home screen at all so can't call/txt and can't access my settings to try to fix the problem..
Before people tell me to reformat it, I have tried 100 times.. I press volume up + power + home to get to bootloader and tried doing a full reformat as well as wiping the cache partition... Reboot phone the setup screen comes up asking for my name/google account..etc but I can't complete it, it always crashes sayin either "hangouts has stopped working" "setup wizard stopped working" or something about a android.keyguard service.
So next I jumped on Google and read to try the Kies software but I can't for life of me get it to detect my phone.. took awhile but I think I got all the drivers installed.. kies will just say it's connecting to my device but never does. Tried kies 2 and 3 and different cords, I think it's because android isn't even truly fully installed since the setup wizard crashes.. so the MTP capability isn't even there.. under my computer I don't see my phone either like I use to, just a blank drive that has no name and can't be accessed.
So then after more reading I decided to try "ADB sideloading".. I'm a newb is to this stuff so idk if I even did it right but hooked usb up went into bootloader and reformatted/cleared cache then I went to ADB and using cmd on my pc I tried to send a zip of cyanogenmod (got it on xda, suppose to work on galaxy core prime) and it said it was successful but it doesn't do anything.. so idk if it's cuz u can't use custom roms with the stock bootloader? I read about other Rom managers but how am I suppose to install them?
if a stock firmware will work, where can I find one?
Sorry for the wall of text, I'm just stuck here and wanted to add everything I could think of that I tried already.
I dont think it's a physical hardware problem, I think i just screwed some system files up somehow which screwed up the recovery partition..
Extra note:
I am able to use the internet browser though, when the setup gets to the step to link your google, in the top right I can go to "enter browser signin" and then I can bypass the fact there's no search bar by clickin privacy policy and clicking a logo to bring me to Google's homepage.
At this point I don't even care about saving data, what Rom is used or anything. Just wanna be able to text and make calls again.
Forgot to add but using the Google accounts bypass to use the browser I also tried going to google play from there and got the play app to open on my phone but it won't let me install any apps (stuck downloading forever) and will say the app isnt supported on my device even when it should be... tried the android device manager but it cant locate my phone and the reformat option there doesnt work either.

Get a custom recovery (preferably twrp) and then wipe EVERYTHING in the wipe section except your sdcard and then just adb sideload cyanogenmod or any other CUSTOM rom for your phone.
You should just be able to reload the original firmware with Odin. Or Kies will probably work, but you have to use Download Mode to be able to restore it, not while it is booted into the OS.
Thanks for the replies, bit I wish it was as easy as you guys make it sound. Kies isn't working because the MTP driver fails to install on windows no matter what mode I'm in or usb port/cord, no way to access usb settings on phone since I can't get past android setup into the homescreen. Also usb debugging is probably not enabled.. how can I enable that when I can't access settings?
I tried to install TWRP (through adb sideload since can't install anything from store) but when I do "adb devices" nothing is listed.. when I tried it on linux there WAS a device listed though so I did sudo adb sideload twrp.zip from within adb folder and it said it sent it but on my phone it says something about a error verifying it or something then it automatically tries again and says it completed and goes to reboot but it doesn't appear to have worked because there's no sign of it.. is TWRP just suppose to replace the stock bootloader if the sideload is successful? If not how do I access it? Also tried sideloading cyanogen right from the stock bootloader but get the same thing.. says it was sent 100% and phone reboots but there's no sign of it... perhaps I'm doing something wrong?
Argh so frustrating all the time I've wasted trying to fix this. I even completely wiped linux off my pc and installed windows 7 again thinking it was a compatibility problem, but now I think I just went backwards because at least on linux my phone was detected doing "adb devices"...

Yes you have to be in recovery to actually be able to do adb sideload, try adb reboot recovery.
