[Q] Device won't boot on any firmware/ROM - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My friends I9100 has a strange problem: It does boot, but shuts down after first Samsung boot logo. It boots to recovery and download mode, but when I try to flash something (or take backup) in recovery, it shuts down. With Odin, I can flash firmwares normally, but those does same, wont boot. I tried Odin-flashable CM9, latest NEE official, and (first?) JB-leak firmwares.
He says that phone just shutted down right after he opened Facebook, and never booted after that. He was using CM10.2.
What should I try next?
EDIT: Never mind. Problem was battery, tried my own I9100's battery in friends phone, and it worked, also his battery didn't work with my phone.

[Q] Bricked all kinds of ways..

The Skinny: updated to JB yesterday, worked great! phone died. wouldn't turn on after charging, kept booting to recovery.. so decided to go back to to stock with odin3 and then re-flash JB.
The Problem Now: stuck on "Over Stock" logo. can't get to recovery, or download.. though odin does still recognize the phone in bricked state, it can't effect any change to the device.
is there any hope??
ferther more..
every once in a while it will power on into download mode, but odin doesn't seem to be doing the trick.. but other times it boots into an "upload mode".
well out of my depth.. someone help!
Google ezbase recovery kit and try that. Even when it's for the i9000 you can use it. You can flash to stock after that.
failed
it failed miserably.. now it shows the GT-I9000 boot screen as it loops infinitely. though on the bright side, download mode is accessible again though even flashing stock wont wipe the GT-I9000 residual effects from it. more suggestions??

Phone has died?

Not sure what has happened here, I am running stock 4.1.2.
The phone locked up so I pulled the battery and restart phone then freezes at the Samsung logo, I tried putting it into recovery mode, it loads as far as the little android man then reboots and again freezes at the Samsung logo,
Anyone any ideas?
What about download mode?
If you can get into, try to flash again stock firmware...

[Q] Help! S3 mini hangs, infinite reboots, no recovery

Hi!
My samsung s3 mini just freezed the other day while I was texting. I lost my patience after 5-10 minutes and pulled the battery. It started up again, and now it just reboots, runs about 1-2 minutes, reboot, runs another minute and continues so on... I was running full stock. No root what so ever.
If it's to any use, I can't delete anything on the phone when it's running. Photos, apps etc... It disappears at first but when the phone has rebooted again all the things that I deleted is still there.
Now here's the thing. It won't go into recovery mode. When I try, it freezes at the first screen, no yellow triangle showing.
Here's what i've tried:
- Flashing another kernel with odin. Tried to flash CWM, according to odin it's succesful, but it's the same thing as before when I try to boot in recovery mode. I also tried flashing a stock kernel but with same results.
- Flashing a stock ROM with odin. Same thing. Odin says it's succesful, but it's the same ROM as before the flash.
- Factory reset in settings on the phone (yeah, I tried doing a factory reset on those 2 minutes lol). When I click the delete button nothing happens.
I've searched the entire internet lol... No one seems to have the same problem as me.
What can I do?
Big thanks in advance..

Please Help! I think I bricked 2 phones one after another.

Soo... I have a S2 and S3. I use the S2, today I woke up for my phone freezing on Samsung Logo. I tried booting Recovery, froze on Team Win logo, so I guessed that something is the software went wrong. I decided to flash some Recovery from Odin and boot into Recovery. I Googled, downloaded one recovery, flashed it via Odin, didn't work, tried another one, didn't work, I would put out the battery every time between tries. And boom it wont turn on, only gets warm in the camera region. So I tried all the combinations of putting it the power with and without battery, pushing all the button combinations etc. I told myself I'll deal with it later, need a phone right now. So I used a spare phone my brother game me, an S3. It had a stock ROM and I wanted to flash JB on it. I rooted the S3, downloaded TWRP for Odin, flashed it with Odin, it didn't work, it booted me to a stock recovery, so I rebooted the phone, it went to Samsung logo, I removed the battery to go faster to Download Mode and try something else, and it wont turn on. What happened and what can I do to fix that? I really need a phone for tomorrow. Please help.

First time trying to flash recovery phone now won't boot

Hi there,
I am new to android phone and I had an old Grand Quattro GT-I82552 to play with.
I followed the guide at xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494471, downloaded
- ODIN v3.07
- CWM Recovery v6.0.4.5
- Stock Recovery GT-I8552
I followed the steps and flash CWM Recovery v6.0.4.5, but on next boot it won't go to CWM recovery mode (I did removed battery first). I tried many times with other CWM from different sources and now my phone won't boot, it just show up the Samsung Logo with yellow triangles, then shutdown. It doesn't look like a loop boot, as it shutdown entirely. I can't charge the phone either.
I can still go in the usb downloading mode so I flashed the stock recovery, no luck, phone still can't boot.
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
EDIT: I found out that I was too careless to noticed that Volume UP is required for boot into CWM, instead as Volume DOWN. So I can boot into CWM now, however I supposed I can withhold my SuperSU install, and just boot into my stock Samsung appearance by normal shutdown and startup of my phone? I can't, everytime I tried to power on, it get's me to empty battery screen then shut off. I can't seem to charge the phone as well.
Have you tried charging the phone for a few hours while in recovery mode, and then turn the device on?

Thank you for your suggestion I will try that. Actually I tried to splice a USB wires and connect red/black to +/- contact for the battery and charge it for few hours, it doesn't seem to get hot, and certainly the phone still can't switch on with the battery.
Initially I thought maybe I messed up the firmware (really I only flash cwm) hence the phone's battery charge controller is not working that's why I tried external charging, but I am not too sure now.
My only hope is to get a way to verify I have enough battery power so I can flash the stock recovery in "downloading mode". I dare not flash recovery without full battery, though the download mode can be accessed while I plugin into PC's usb port.

Don't worry your phone will charge while in recovery around 2% in 6-7 minutes. After that you can flash stock os via Odin. Next time you try to flash recovery don't check auto reboot in Odin when flashing of tar file will complete remove battery and boot to recovery. Then flash supersu

Thanks for your advice. I took both of your advice and had my phone flashed with Stock ROM and now it returned to normal with fully charged battery sign shown. My battery appears to be fine with and fully charged, the battery current probably can't be detected with my broken phone back then.
With StockROM in and fully battery, I redo the custom flashing and I am now on custom ROM! Though have some problem with the ROM (battery report not correct, no front camera..) but I am happy now the phone is back to work now.
Thank you very much.
