Hi.. please know that a) I am a complete beginner at all things 'Forums' and programming mobile 'phones and b) hand on heart I have searched everywhere as your video states and 5 hours later I am still stuck... sooooo:
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 XWKI8 which I got through 3. I am trying to root my phone BUT in order to start I need to re-boot in download mode - problem... my phone will not respond to the three button press action and just happily starts up as normal. Any ideas? I did, just once earlier to day get a screen with yellow and green writing but no yellow triangle. I went to reload but my eventual odin message said succeed 0/failed 0 and my phone didn't re-boot either. My main problem is that I just can't get my phone to re-boot. Can you help?
Try the three button combo again, but hold volume down and power at the same time then press the menu button, as soon as you see the Samsung splash screen, let go of all three. Works for me. If not then you could always buy a USB Jig from ebay.
Hope this helps.
Edit: To get a reboot, try removing the battery, then power up as normal.
Thank you so much for responding. I'll give it a go and let you know - THANK YOU
No... sadly it's not working - weird. I seem to get the Samsung Galaxy version screen come up twice and then the '3' logo and then a rainbow 'S' - it all takes a bit of a while! Would paying for an unlock service be a better idea?? OR... what is a JIG and what does one do with it...!
Strange...you should be able to get into download mode?
Does your phone boot up so that you can use the phone or are you stuck at the bootscreen (rainbow S).
You should not need to pay to get your phone unlocked there are plenty of resources and help on here to unlock it.
The USB jig boots your phone into download mode and resets the ROM flash counter so that if you have to return your phone to Sammy, they won't know you have flashed a custom ROM.
Try searching for other threads regarding 'not being able to get into download mode', you may find someone else has had the same problem.
I have an issue.. I was in the middle of downloading some files to start a new theming process and went to boot into twrp recovery to flash Jedi ROM that i have been using and my phone froze on the Galaxy Note II screen. I pulled the battery and then did the manual recovery(hold volume up, home button and power) and it just stays at the Galaxy Note II screen...and nothing.. no download mode, no recovery.. nothing. I need help. I plugged my phone into the computer and it does NOT recognize it.. SO I would think of flashing a new recovery or rom thru abd but I can't.. If any one can lead me into the right direction I would appreciate it!!!:good:
PS I see a little red light flash near the speaker on top when I just tap the power button..
UPDATE: was able to get into download mode(odin), but as soon as it shows up it says Downloading..??just need to know the steps of getting rebooted, can I flash a ROM in Odin bc i remember seeing something specifically saying not too.
FIXXED Thanks anyways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello everybody,
this is my first post so please be gentle with me. I rooted my Galaxy S2 I9100 and after that I installed CWM Recovery (Blazing_Kernel_v3_CWM5.zip). The rooting part went well, after the restart everything was ok. After the CWM Recovery installation the phone is stuck at the logo screen "Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100". From what I have seen during the CWM Recovery installation everything got installed just fine so I don`t understand what could have happened.
I have seen my exact same problem asked here on the forum but the others had more luck, they could boot in Recovery or Download Mode.. I cannot boot in any of the 2.
Is there anything I can do or is the phone bricked for good?
PS: I have insurance on my phone and I have dropped it a week ago and broke a bit of the screen but the phone worked just fine..besides the fact that from that moment on the external memory card could be read very slowly by the phone and sometimes just crashed because of that. Sometimes it wouldn`t read the external memory card at all. Do you think I can go and tell the insurance guys that I have this problem after I dropped the phone and that it is maybe related?
Thank you all in advance!
I've never heard of that kernel on a I9100, pretty sure you flashed a kernel meant for another device.
Try a jig and, if that doesn't fly, take it to your insurance company.
And no, they won't buy the drop story.

Hello,
You're new, we get that, but it doesn't give you permission to break rules. Just heads up, nothing relevant.
You have not hardbricked your phone, since you can still boot up to wherever. I assume you have already tried the correct ways to enter either download or recovery mode.
According to me it seems like you have flashed a Kernel for the i9100G devices, and from the information i see here i assume you have the international version. So that's maybe your problem, you have flashed a kernel for the wrong device.
about the dropping your phone. If it worked before dropping it, then i don't think they'll repair it.
PS. There's another way to get into download mode, but i'm pretty tired so i don't think i'll bother looking
i've seen @GamingDj explain this to another user so maybe he can explain here too if he sees this
I dont think Ive read about your situation before.......semi booting but no recovery or download modes.

There's two alternative ways to boot into DL mode...
1. Take out the battery, leave it out for a minute. Then, hold the button combo to enter DL mode. Still holding the button combo, put the battery in. Try a couple times if you don't get it first go.
2. Turn the phone off. Then, hold the button combo for DL mode while inserting the phone charger. That would normally boot into DL mode.

So many noobs!
God,I have to copy-paste this again....ok,so here we go.First of all, download this firmware. It's Android 4.0.3 XWLP7.After it finished downloading, extract it,so you will have a .tar.md5 file, and then open Odin.Make sure Kies is stopped. Then,on your mobile:make sure it's charged, and in Settings enable USB debugging(if you can boot the rom)Then enter Download Mode(Hold POWER + HOME + VOL DOWN buttons together until it enters download mode). If that doesn't work, then pull out the battery, start pressing the VOL DOWN button, reinsert battery, and put in the charger. Now it should be in Download mode.If no,then a JIG it is.Now connect it to your PC.In Odin,Click PDA,and select the extracted firmware file.Make sure "Re-Partiton" and "Flash Lock" are unticked. Then Click start. It will take ~ 5 min. to flash the new ROM.After completed, disconnect it from PC.It maybe won't boot/it will be stuck in bootloop. Now enter Recovery(hold POWER + HOME + VOL UP buttons, until it restarts and shows up the "Galaxy S2 GT-I9100" screen. Now let the buttons go.In recovery(you can navigate with VOL UP/VOL DOWN buttons , and select with POWER button) select "Wipe Data/Factory Reset",or something similar.Select yes.It will take ~ 3-8 min. to wipe. That's it,you have restored your Galaxy S2!.If you want to root it,follow along.Download this file, and put it on your phone`s EXTERNAL SD! card. Now reboot into Recovery. In recovery, select "Install update from external storage", or something similar, and search the downloaded file.Install it.Now reboot. You don't have to wipe anything. That's it!
I swear that post should be sticky in the Q&A section. So many people can't read.
This is not even a recap nor a guide, not sure if it is spoon feed either.

Hello my fellow people. I have a question.
I had factory reset my Samsung galaxy s advance i9070p and then wanted to root it from 2.3.6 gingerbread to 4.1.2 JB.
I used odin to root it but i used I9070XXLQ4_I9070SERLQ4_SER as the md5 file. With i used the original i9070p download package what had the tar file. The firmware my phone originally had was xxlk4 but instead of that i used xxlq4. But after rooting and odin saying pass i unplugged the phone and saw that it was at the black screen and nothing came up. I tried holding the power button down but nothing i tried going to download mode with holding the power, volume down button plus menu button, but still nothing.
Could it be that i had hard-bricked my phone?
When i plug it in to my PC it makes a double beep at first then after a second it does a single beep. But it doesn't show any connection signs.
If it's hard-bricked then is there any chance to get it back to life.
My Phone is: Samsung Galaxy S Advance I9070p 2.3.6 GB. Firmware is originally xxlk4.

Something very similar just happened to me. I got a Samsung Galaxy S Advance from my company, but since I have another phone I decided to upgrade it to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 using odin to root it. Just like the poster above, oding said "PASS" but didn't reboot my phone. Not even a flicker on the screen, I see no activity that the phone is even charged or anything. The battery is charged, so I have no clue what could be wrong. What I've tried so far:
1)
Unplugged it and tried to boot it normally, didn't work.
2)
Took the battery hour for 1h+, boot normally, didn't work.
3)
Took the battery out for some time again, boot into download mode, didn't work.
4)
Take the battery out, put it in again. Hold down volume UP and volume DOWN simultaneously, power on. Didn't work -- NOTE! When the phone is plugged into my PC, the computer makes a noise that beep is being recognized as plugged into the computer, a second later it makes a beep indicating something was unplugged... nothing more happens.
Please help. I'm rather new to Android phones, and I would appreciate any assistance
Hi everyone ,
I'm trying to help a friend out who has brought me a Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 T585 model.
At present it has mobicontrol on and is in a kiosk mode. I cannot get in the regular android operating system as it is just going straight into a sales kiosk mode via mobicontrol. It's really annoying as you cannot access anything unless someone knows a clever bypass?
All the information for this tablet to get into download mode says
Power Button + Volume Down + Home Button
However, it does not do anything other than keep rebooting if held long enough.
I found Power Button + Volume Up + Home Button takes me into a blue screen that says "Installing Update"
Then fails and goes to the android restore screen. I've tried wiping cache, partition and all the options in there but it wont mount anything it seems either and fails to make a difference with anything i've done. I've tried Odin from inside Windows but that fails (as i'm not in the correct download mode) i think.
It still boots up to mobicontrol kiosk environment and is unusable other than inside that demo mode.
I've tried it in safemode but never seems to get in and takes forever, so unless i've been too impatient, it's been locked out from loading in safemode it seems??
It's on Android v7 and is the Samsung Galaxy Tab a6 T585 10.1 LTE version.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
