I tried downloading a theme created by a Google Circles user. I followed his exact instructions for downloading the file, yet I never see it in Themer. Do I have to cut the file from the file explorer and then paste it into Themer?

Hi mate
All you need to do is copy the .zip file you downloaded and paste it in
MyColorScreen-themer-exported-zip
The long press the home screen and select browse themes.
Now select my themes / exporter
Now select the theme you downloaded and hit apply.
Job done
All the best

Alrighty, here we goo.
I was looking around for voice to text apps, and I came across one.. called "Tellme"
Now, I as I understand this wasn't exactly made for my LEO-usa.
BUT IT DOES WORK.
I have installed the .cab file for this app, installed it correctly the only way one could do it. Then there was a file I was told to download called NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab.zip
Framework im guessing? But I have a problem, I don't know how to install this.. its a zip file, and when I unzip the file it breaks down the cab structure into 192380192381203981203498712348971230489 freaking FILES!
How do I install a cab file that is compressed into a zip file? if you HD2 users want to try and pickup where I left off, here you go.
do a google search for "tellme for hd2" Click the result that has tmobile's forums on it.
Scroll down the forum replies till you see words and convo's regarding TELLME. and you'll notice there is two files needed, the framework, and the cab file for the app.
I got the app installed, but the NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab confuses me because its a cab file that is in a zip file..
lol, sorry if I'm sounding redundant. but damn.
Heres the two files, I'll attach them below.

no worries. just download the .zip file, then unzip it into the the file "NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab". next copy this file and the tellme.cab file into your phone. run the NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab first and let it install. then follow by the tellme.cab. you're done.
yea, you have unzipped it twice, because winzip/winrar also see the .cab as a cabinet, or zip file, and opens it, when in fact that whole file is the windows mobile installer. extract the single cab file to desktop, copy it to your phone, click it in explorer on your phone.
Alrighty, I tried what you said..
I got the .cab file for the NET stuff on the device, attempted installation and it failed at the end, told me to close out of apps, and clear device space?
I have a little short of 1gb of Device memory left, and task manager did not have anything running.
Is it perhaps the ROM im using? I'm using the Energy ROM.
bumppp.
Hey Guys, I'm a newbie so be gentle. First off, this website is the best. Thanks for lost of tips and tricks. OK, I've rooted my NT. Where do the downloads go? I can't find them in any Nook folder? I've download pdfs from the web and I've downloaded epub from my library via Digital Editions adn I can't see either on the NT. Thanks.
Usually, when you download through a browser they go into /sdcard/download.

Whenever I download from the stock browser they end up here:
media/My Files/My Downloads in the root directory of the tablet
You might need to download an alternative launcher I personally use go launcher
Greetings...How do u get to media/My Files/My Downloads?...
Or how do u navigate through the different directories for that matter?...
Thank you...
use ESFileExpolorer to navigate through your /media folders...
Thank you mac4rfree for the feedback...I've installed it and poked around, but don't have a full understanding of what I'm doing or navigating it...Is there a tutorial that can walk me through how to use it, what it does, etc.?...
Thanking you...
My downloads with Dolphin go into the dolphin downloads folder.
Bill
@thesal,, first go to settings clicking on menu button,,,, then you cann add "/" as home directory,,, if you want to write files to the root, then check on root checkbox... hopeful that will give u a start

sorry,does not see
Use ES file explorer.
You can long click on any file and then choose ×´shortcut".
Go back to your homescreen and you'll see the file there.

You can do this in a number of ways. I normally use Root Explorer, or I sometimes use Tasker.
The easiest is to use Root Explorer (other file managers may work the same). Just navigate to a file and long press on it and choose 'Create shortcut' from the context menu. The shortcut is automatically put on your homescreen and you can then add it to a folder (screenshot attached).
Thank you all.
I used ES file exlorer.

I used to have n95 until now and was satisfied with it. Even though performance of s3 is amazing, I find it "little funny" for the price of over 600€ that I have to install few apps to just do "basic stuff" like:
- create shortcut on home screen for a file
- send SMS to more than 10 people at once
Regards,
Rok
There are some interesting settings that you can use in this application. Many of which are hidden, it worked on the origianl Kindle Fire, and I tryed to just use it to get keyboards fixed, and then I was messing with it. Just install apk, doesnt need to be in system/app
Not really sure if its any use besides a couple hidden settings. I ended up getting into the actual ICS settings menu, its interesting to mess around with this.

Lets you add keyboards
I was able to change keyboards with this app.
1.Download nookcolor tools (I found it in the xda forum, not in the market)
2.Download whatever keyboard you want
3. Open up root browser or whatever file explorer you have
4. Click on the apk file for the keyboard you want
5. Select the view option
6. Open the lib folder
The keyboard I downloaded (hacker keyboard) has 4 folders in lib folder
7.I selected the armeabi-v7a folder. Inside you'll find a something.so file (mine was libjni_pckeyboard.so)
8. Click on the .so file and select extract. Mine extracted it to /sdcard/extracted
9.I then copied the .so file from the /extracted folder, opened up the /system/lib folder, and pasted it
10. Move the keyboard apk file to the /system/app folder
11.Reboot the kindle fire and open up the nookcolor tools app
12. Click choose keyboard. Your downloaded keyboard should now be available as an option.
WALAA
I did this just to get a keyboard with a ctrl button. It should work with any keyboard app.
HOWEVER... in landscape mode you can only see like 95% of the keyboard. It works perfect in portrait mode though. Sorry for the long step list. All of these steps may not be necessary but this works. Keyboard will not be available until reboot. Will say updating or upgrading on startup.
Hah..12 steps!!
After every reboot , Swiftkey crashed and i must reinstall from the /system/app/ directory and must click Ok to overwrite an existed Systemapp. Then Swiftkey works perfectly. After a reboot Swiftkey crashed again.
can u help me?
swiftkey

It works on mine. Did u install from market? My launcher did this until I installed it from a non-market source. Try googling swiftkey apk and then follow the steps above. Also make sure you move the .so file.

Thanks. Is the Keyboard available after a reboot?

I did this and installed perfect keyboard pro. It's pretty good, the "p" is hidden and the "0", ")" but are still accessible. They have a setting for landscape but couldn't get it to work.

When I try to copy the .so file into system/lib, it says the operation failed. As far as I can tell, I have all the permissions enabled. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Don't copy, move or extract.
So i found some themes that are really nice on MyColorScreen and i want to install
let's say this one http://mycolorscreen.com/2014/03/07/4c/ which also included the zip
so how do I install that zip?
or do i have to set it up manually with widget by widget?
Thanks in advance
download the zip file for the theme
attach your device to your pc/laptop
browse your device internal storage and fine mycolorscreen folder
in there you will find a folder named themer
inside is a folder named exported, simply copy the zip file into the zip folder there
then you can install via themes on your device under the exported tab

you're welcome forgot to mention if you want to preview the theme, simply rename the wallpaper the same as the theme name,ie if theme is called blue, rename the wallpaper blue and then copy this into the themer/exported/thumbs folder
Thanks
