I had this problem after deleting my efs folder and trying new roms. After a couple of days searching and trying many different way to no avail, I came across this on youtube. Worked a treat for me. I am a noob so please if i have posted wrong or done anything i should not have please except my apologies. I am only trying to help out. Go to the overcome ROM thread. There's a link there to a guide. Next time search the forum before you ask, and if you don't find anything by searching, post in the correct forum.

If you can read this it was sent using my GT-P7510.
If you have a nandroid backup of your stock rom, just restore it then flash stock recovery with odin. If you don't have a nandroid backup then your need an odin flashable stock rom.

and can anyone tell how to backup all the data like games , games data/high scores , apps, contacts , etc.
and is this update safe as my phone is just 1 week old so will the update void my warranty.
i want to update as i want these features.!

Many people have spent a lot of time creating tutorials for beginners like you. Please search the forum for your answer. And yes, flashing a custom rom voids your warranty, but you can always return to the stock software.

(1) for backups etc. have a look in the stickies and FAQ thread of the Q&A section, all included in the how-tos
(2) should you update? decide for yourself...if you cannot live without "these features" I guess you have no other choice
(3) is it safe? nothing is 100% safe

Agree and that is due to multiple guides posted all over the place and often repeating those that are stickied .Its a fact of questions and other junk posted in General section cluttering up and hiding the guides .
But as 99% refuse to even start by reading post one why put any effort in to make it more accessible .
In my view we should have one section with Q&A including all general topics . Plus one locked section for guides and faqs with new posts at the discretion of the mods only .

That's a really good idea. Unfortunately it would need to be a site wide change, which would be hard to get admin buy in for. They could perhaps have a "lesser" mod, like a guide admin user base that could manage that for each device, because they would need to understand teh guides and if they were accurate or not anyway.
You should suggest it

That's actually a great idea indeed, you got my vote .
The only challenge will be then, and I guess it is valid not only for XDA but also in real life, how to get people to read first and not go the "easy" way of posting/asking the same old question.
Nevertheless a guide/faq section would be a good start.

That isn't totally true, im on 4.2.2 custom for 3 weeks now and can't say it's less stable than 4.1.2
Rooting always voids your warranty, it means it's on your own risk. Sometimes when you soft-brick your phone you can go back to stock, for what i've read.

Hi guys for like 7 days i have a I9300.....first i flash it with leaked 4.2 from tsar3000,then iv'e downloaded the official 4.1.2 and flash it again with some errors.....after that i repeated the steps with odin.....after the flash was finished my imei was damaged like 0000649 bla bla....iv'e fix it at work with nspro,but now if i flash a diferent rom i have to repair every time the imei even if the imei is shown ok in phone menu with *#06#,if anyone has the same problem and has fix it please share with me the fix.....thx in advance.

Because MG4 roms and higher change your efs partition format if you stick above MG4 then your efs wil stay the same, where as if you go below, you will have to repair it and same goes if you wanna flash above MG4
Where can I find a list with mg4 roms.on tsar I found only one.....by the way sorry for the inconvenient can anyone move my bad post to the proper place on forum sorry again

yeah, S4 Revolution is a S4/Note 3 portet Rom for the S3

tnx for the reply, just saw the topic, but it's not completley clear to me. how do I know if the problem is a corrupt /efs or did the /efs format changed? Can you please copie the steps i should do to fix this? I only can see that my IMEI number starts with 0049
