Any way to "read" a PLA file? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I lost a lot of info from my Note II's internal storage several months ago, including some songs that I can't seem to find again because I don't remember the song names etc.
I have a backup of the playlists file folder with all the .PLA files still in it, unfortunately, they're "empty" when viewed on the phone.
Is there any way to see the song titles that were in the playlist file? Like is there a program that can read PLA files for what was in them? I don't care that I don't have the actual songs... I just need the titles.
Really appreciate the help! Thanks!

Hide media?

Hopefully i am missing something simple! How do i stop all my pics and videos from being indexed and revealed via albums? I have made several sub folders in new directories on mem card, but it still gets indexed?
I suppose if there is not a simple control to stop index then is there a good app for password protecting a folder?

I've searched for something like this too, but can't find any way do hide stuff from the album.
Found Photo Vault and Video Vault on market place, only allows 5 files in trial mode, cheap to buy license though. Hides from album, and Linda file manager - seems to work, open the app to view all the files you have hidden.
you can stop it simple by putting a file name .nomedia in the directory.
But then it will not popup in any media application anymore.
hope thats what you were looking for.

[Q] Making playlists based on folders

Hey I'm trying to make a playlist, in which the songs will be from a certain folder.
I use linux and figured the phone would probably also be case senstive so I make a playlist on the computer, then manually edited the paths to correspond to those on the phone. Didn't work =/
anybody got a way of doing this? Unfortunately the Tags on the files are ****ty so just clicking "genre" or something doesn't work.
If nobody knows a way to do this, does anybody know a program that fixes id3 tags semi-automatically or at least a program with batch id3 tag editing? (looking to avoid iTunes if possible)
Hah! nevermind. That did work actually. I just hadn't waited long enough for mediascape to recognize it.

[Q] associate album picture in music player

Hi everybody
first of all i want to say TNX to all the wonderful people here, who make my HD2 experience so much better
i have a good question which i bet other HD2 owners are struggling with:
i keep my mp3 files stored on my SD card.
Q: i can't seem to find a way to set a certain picture to a certain song in the music player (instead of the default picture of the note icon).
what i'v tried up until now:
- i went to My Device\MUSIC and saw the way the original (crappy) song is set with its own picture, and tried to set my mp3 file the same way with it's own picture, but - no luck, still the annoying note icon..
so.. i give up for now, hopefully someone knows the answer to my question here
thanks allot guys
I think I've got the solution:
Settings -> Manage Applications -> Media Storage and choose clear data, this will wipe the media library database from the phone.
you then have to power down and reboot. Now when you open the music app it will rebuild its database.

SORTED! tnx to Wilco!
Wilco you are the man
i didn't find a way to delete the media library database from the phone, the solution presented in the thread is meant to work with another HTC device which has different settings, BUT - the issue was the same -
in order to show a photo instead of the default note icon in the music player htc devices require an image called "folder.jpg" located in every folder which contains mp3's, this is the picture which will be shown as the album picture. so in order to show a different picture for every album the albums must be in different folders.
there is a certain BUG which occures when there is no folder.jpg file in the folder containing the mp3 file and you try to add it later, the device has a DB that records every folder you create and it doesn't remember a folder.jpg file in that particular folder so it will not show a picture even if you add one, i still havn't figured out way to clean that DB, anyway, by simply putting a folder.jpg with your choice of image and changing the folder's name to another one, the device will recognize this as a brand new folder and tada! album picture is presented
hope we helped you guys!
thanks!!

[Q] PC to Phone File Management

Coming from my Nexus S to the Galaxy Note, the PC to Phone file transfering experience is a lot different. I do not like what Samsung (or ATT) did to it.
It constantly asks me if I am sure if I want to transfer files to my phone. "Do you want to copy XYZ.xyz to your device? Your device might not be able to play or view this file." It's quite annoying when I'm trying to copy over files that are not all the same file type. Any way to get around this?
I'm on Windows 7 and I prefer to view all my files in the "Details" view type. However all the directories (that I haven't changed) on the phone are defaulted to something different and there is no way to change this but go into EVERY folder and modify them. There has to be an easier way. Is there?
On my Nexus S I had about 1100 music files. Prior to switching phones I copied all the information from my Nexus to my PC so I can transfer to my Note. When I copied the files from my PC to my Note I only had 750 songs and a good amount of my albums were missing 50% of the songs. Is this a limitation of file types supported with the Note?
Can these issues be resolved if I use a microSDHC card reader to put my files on the card?
These issues baffle me because they're both made by Samsung. Only thing I can think of is that the Nexus was Google's baby and they didn't want limitations put on it, but the Note wasn't.
Thanks for reading.

Create a shortcut FILE that is stored somewhere OTHER THAN the homescreen..

Hello all, I have received a TON of false positives in my search for whether this is even possible.
In windows, a shortcut to a file or folder can be stored in any folder.
So far in Android, a shortcut can only be placed on the home screen, and AFAIK does not have a corresponding file that can be found in the root browser.
I am trying to trick Handshaker into giving me access to my EXTERNAL SD, and the only way I can think of is to create a shortcut somewhere on the internal SD that zips on over to the card where all my media (100Gb+) is stored.
I'm on a OPX, so internal storage BARELY COVERS apps. No switcheroo action is reasonably doable.
As an aside, is this whole Mac incompatibility thing a vestigial grudge? It must take a lot of effort to KEEP usb from working as it should. Are there other apps besides the "works when it feels like it" Android File Transfer or "installs weird **** on your phone" HandShaker that allow you to move around YOUR OWN FILES without using the cloud? The amount of web silence and lack of development is stunning to me. Maybe I need to refine my search terms?? Unlikely. I've tried many tens of iterations.
The search for answers here results in a mountain of false-positives as well.
Thanks for taking the time to at least read this.
Cheers.
