I have a MetroPCS LG Optimus L9 MS769. I tried to flash to 20B Europe to root and install L9 Recovery so that I could fix the touch screen. First off, the Unlock failed. So I was on 20B and forgot to paste the .bin file. I was told T-Mobile 10G was rootable so I flashed that but I did a factory data reset and lost my show touches, USB debugging, Unknown Sources, everything. Whats odd about the flash process is that even when I flashed to 10G, I still had Europe boot screen (inverted), screwed up touch and inverted. I got so ticked off I temporarily switched to my backup phone thus deactivating my SIM.
I tried to root 10D after a painstaking process. I got a partial fix, the screen was still inverted, wonky touchscreen, and vroot FAILS. I'm so frustrated over this whole thing. What makes matters worse is I'm on a screwed up version of 10G and I am downloading 20F to test. Do I have to replace a bin file? The post I went to said the file was removed from the server. If I can do it through Europe that would be nice but I just want my phone back I would rather restore it all to full stock (10E) Any ideas?
I saw that the LG Mobile Support tool does not fully flash the boot and stuff. ADB won't recognize, no root to 2nd init the ts fix. Was told it doesn't work. Damn.
Help. My L9 and I have a special relationship. >.<
You have to mess with the funky touch screen to enable USB debugging. Afterwards connect phone in lg mode and offline flash 10D.
Once on 10D (everything still jacked up but adb is enabled) root with cydia, install busybox and locked bootloader cwm. Use the tool I made and flash (with cwm) my themed 10E (you can find the link in my signature).

Yes the host file is suppose to contain all that mumbo jumbo
Just place the two lines at the very bottom and make sure the changes saved. Another thing, I don't use that shttp thing anymore. I use this
Directions on how to install and use Apache server for offline flashing.
make sure you already made the changes to the host file
Step 1. download the Apache server for windows here and verify the md5 sum.
Step 2. Follow this nice tutorial to the "t" How to install Apache HTTP Server 2.2.13 for Windows.
Step 3. Open the httpd.conf file (C:\Apache2.2\conf\httpd.conf) and locate
Code:
#Listen 12.34.56.78:80
Listen [COLOR="Blue"]80[/COLOR]
and change to
Code:
#Listen 12.34.56.78:80
Listen [COLOR="Red"]9002[/COLOR]
SAVE CHANGES (or change during the install)
Step 4. Copy the stuff inside "www" folder (C:\shttps\www\*) into the C:\Apache2.2\htdocs folder and restart the Apache server. Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1797212&d=1363021481

You can perform a trick. Tether you're L9 to your laptop and run the offline flash. By the time the phone reboots the process will be to far along to stop the flash.

Kuma I've been tinkering around with your ROM and I would like detailed instructions on how to remove the SD swap. SwiftKey and a few other apps wont save language data properly, so every time I reboot the phone I have to redownload it. Is there a way to correct this?

Easiest way to remove is to type the following in a terminal
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
rm /etc/init.d/69swap
and reboot.
I had swift key working properly once but I can't remember what I did.
Update: OK I've remembered what I did to get SwiftKey operating properly on every boot. I copied the data on the micro SD (/sdcard/Android/data/com.touchtype.swiftkey) to the Internal SD (/storage/External_SD/Android/data/com.touchtype.swiftkey).
The problem is SwiftKey is looking for the language pack in the wrong location. The phone first boots up with the swap script deactivated, so it won't find the language pack (unless you installed SwiftKey before activating the script).

Thank you, it works now hangouts doesn't want to install error code - 24 but it was the same way before I removed the swap. I just went into root Explorer and deleted the contents of the init.d folder. SwiftKey works.
Mind sending me a Google Talk apk, preferably all the Google Apps for this phone? I have a feeling hangouts is not installing because one of two things.
Root?
Talk not installed
You've been very helpful.

Hi,
I have a g2 touch on tmobile, unlocked and using with 3 network. It currently shows as ROM version 2.73.110.26, Android 1.5.
When I try to download android apps from the "Market", it asks me to log into my gmail account. When I put in the details, it is signing in for two minutes, saying "connecting with google servers", but then the message "cant establish a reliable data connection to the server" comes up. I was trying to connect with wifi. I can connect with a browser no problem. I also cleared the google apps in Manage Applicaions.
Can someone please help. Am I doing somethinhg wrong.
Thank you.
Think it's a similar problem to what i have with mine.I have a T-Mobile handset running an Orange sim,I can't get a data connection as well.I've had similar problems in the past with an Orange handset running other sims, but solved it everytime after i had flashed a new ROM on the phone. All my previous handsets were running Win Mobile, and it was easy to do,but this runs Android and it seems alot more confusing and complicated.
I'd guess flashing a new ROM would do the trick, but can't help you as i'm stuck trying to flash
myself.
Damned reply vanished into the ether!!! @#?! So anyhoo.... here's how you flash.... its easy.
First you root your phone. Takes an hour at the most. You're sort of not embracing android if you havnt rooted yet... but anyway, now that you have a newly rooted hero you look for a rom to use (I swap between aHero and EzHero).
Once found you download your .zip file and place it into the root of your sd card (not in any folders).
Start your phone in recovery using the power and home keys simultaneously and select 'flash zip from sd card' and select the file you want to flash. Then press home to confirm and then let it load. Then restart. Easy as pie.... mmmmm.... pie....
Considering I'm only 15 this is a relatively easy process for anyone... mind you I am working on dual boot with winmob so.... meh... try it. Its so easy that I change my rom about twice a week.
Hope my drivle was of some use to you. Any questions pm me somehow and i'll get back to you asap.

Description: This method (nearly identical to my previous thread for the Verizon Galaxy S III) will help you get Google Wallet working on your Verizon Galaxy S4, regardless if you have a TouchWiz-based ROM or AOSP-based and whether it's Odexed or Deodexed. This should also work on AT&T/Sprint/T-Mobile Galaxy S4 as well.
Please Note: In order to use this method you need to be rooted and have a custom recovery (1, 2, or 3).

Everything seems to be working. I will have to head to McDonald's tomorrow and give it a try. Thanks!
Well I got this working from the other thread but looks to be same methods which is fine.
Now poking around... I noticed I have a devices section on the Wallet website and see I can reset it remotely if anything happens (though I wouldn't test that for ROM issues). Nice to know... is this more a secure element self destruct?
Also I notice a section asking to "Verify Identify" which if required... I will. But I am already reading where people have entire Play Store/Checkout locked out over this permanently over this. I just hope I don't get my account screwed one day because Google hates the grocery which I shop at or some lame thing where GPS is off by 500ft and claims I'm not there.... I know farfetched and over the top but just concerned or if anyone had issues with this.

I wouldn't worry too much about those, I think the remote reset from the website just wipes the app by itself, the secure element stays working so it can be passed on. Highly unlikely and unnecessary that Google will want to brick a secure element for security purposes.

Which method did you use? What happens when you restore the build.prop? I personally have this running back on the stock build.prop using method A, so I know no issues on that one.

I'm currently stuck in "identity verification hell" and can't use Wallet even on my 100% stock Nexus 7. not happy. I sent them my license and a utility bill already and they still want more (SS card) which seems ridiculous. Amazon Payments was required to collect SSNs not too long ago...but they didn't require a freakin scan of the original document.
ugh.
anyway: Method A works great for me (still on TouchWiz for now sadly).
anyone else notice that when you change the build.prop product name, if you long-press the home button you see three icons along the bottom of the screen instead of "Task manager", "Google", and "Close All"? I believe that's what AT&T/T-Mo users see by default. wasn't enough to get rid of that stupid WiFi notification though

Method A , Step 7. Reboot into your recovery and flash the Google Wallet mod
The file downloads as JFLTEVZW-Wallet-TW-JB-1.6-R96-v16.zip.zip
It's a nested zip file. does it need to be unzipped one level first or is that just the name of it ?
Mine has been at 'setting up this could take 5 minutes' for 10 minutes. I used Method A.
Nice, just finished Method A.
ZIP file was fine as is.
Everything appears to be working. Will confirm after i get to make a purchase at some point. Thanks!!!!
Edit; I had previously used Google Wallet on my Galaxy Nexus so everthing came back, cards, etc. easy peasy.
What happens if we follow all steps properly and get Wallet working, but then flash the 3Minit framework after in order to use the UI tweaks that the 3Minit app offers? Does that mess anything up for Wallet or is that Xposed framework needed permanently?

My mistake, it's not actually a nested file if you look inside, I just forgot to rename it. I'll reupload with proper name to avoid confusion.

The Xposed framework is needed to stay there for Google Wallet to patch properly but if I understand that 3Minit mod correctly I think it just added an additional patch to the Xposed framework to enable and doesn't need to replace it? Could be wrong but I think it should be fine.

In that case not required. All you have to do is update the new one that this mod flashes, the rest should remain the same however.
Hello guys, since all of the tutorials I have seen on here are all complicated I decided to post the easiest method around. You don't even need to use any command prompt for this. The only problem is that this is chinese language, so you have to click the exact buttons.
1. Download this file: Link <--- HELP ME! OR http://goo.gl/U6Jwaf <--- Non ref
2. Install the software, using the installation buttons as you would on any other windows installation.
3. When you have installed it, you will see a green button, press it. Then connect your phone (JellyBean update would be best, i havent tried with ICS)
4. When the phone is connected the software will recognise the phone and the green button will show "ROOT", click on it.
5. The phone is going to be rooted in some seconds and the process is finished when it will show a tick on the software.
6. The phone will reboot.
7. When it is rebooted, go to google play and download super su.
8. Open super su and it will ask you to update the binaries, and you must click on update, and then normal.
9. A window in chinese will pop up on the phone, this is the screen that allows you to give root permissions to any app. You must click the button on the right.
10. You are done! Root process is complete!
11. This is the most important step. Leave a thanks! If you liked the tutorial, please show it to me!
Post below if you have questions or don't understand.
Hi guys. I tried this method, it worked on my p778g with ICS (it was recognized as a p769), the only bad thing is the language, it's in chinese, but worked.
How to unroot?

To get the language changed install SuperSU then use the Switch superuser app to uninstall it reboot reinstall and you wont be able to uninstall the chinese program except you WILL have SuperSU managing your root access
Is that working on p760 - v20i software?
Wysłane z mojego LG-P760 za pomocą Tapatalk 2

I wonder if this installs malware/spyware?
Seems too good to be true. Not sure about installing a Chinese language tool for one-click root when you're not really sure who the developer of the utility is and what it actually modifies besides root.
I have Wells Fargo bank app, Amazon and Play wallet on my P769. I think I'll wait a while before applying this

I've been looking into the root exe program with a hex editor. It contains some interesting stuff. It takes advantage of the /data/local/tmp folder. I have found that it created some files in /dev as well. So have you checked it out yet @Lelus? I should have used a sandbox, but to late now. It looks legit but not 100%

Thanks for the Great Tutorial! :good: Everything went smooth as the directions explained. My LG Optimus P-769 is rooted and loaded CWM recovery after I rooted! And it also went as fast as I could follow the steps! Good Job on The FIND! oh yeah the Super User app in Chinese is a bummer. But the bottom line about everything else "The dam phone is ROOTED!" lol TY

It's a chinese program, ofcourse not everything is as legit as it could, but I've checked it and nothing seems to be wrong as far as I can see. So, is this the best method to root the L9?

official changelog/features:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2583582
since i cant seem to get the kernel working properly for the camera and vibration i decided to pre-release this anyway if someone want to have a go.
then we can just hope i get the other stuff to work later
Code:
What works:
everything works fine besides the built-in torch.
but you can download third-party app to make it work.
i suggest to download cm-apps from market and use both filemanager and torch app
Code:
what does not work:
built in torch
i dont know about the built in peek notifications either.
but that can be downloaded on the play store
well we still have the overexposured camera and the vibration does not work
and nfc still dont work either
everything seems kernel related, not installing the right drivers/modules
anyways go ahead. ive been using this rom everyday for a long time so i know works just fine
Flash zips with custom recovery
and dont forget to wipe system/cache and data if you are coming from another rom
dont forget to flash gapps after flashing the rom.

Just flashed the ROM, everything went great past startup, got synced my google account, when using the ROM tho, with the gaaps linked in the post. Hangouts won't logon, playstore won't download any apps they just show as an update ready when I press update it shows as updating for then dissapearing shortly after, in the screen (display menu), there isn't any DSB (dynamical status bar) like seen in other versions of this beta, other than that it seems to be working... Alright
Doesn't seem like usb connection to pc works neither... Used to work on stock rom, now with or without usb debugging on it just wont be found by the pc, even tho it has drivers installed.. it does pop up with a sound tho when connected
The dsb and recents are only in the official releases, this is legacy (read the changelog page), they dont have that implanted yet till its stable enough.
Just reboot your device and the gapps stuff should work i dont about the PC USB stuff though i use and sdcard. I shall look into that. Is it the same problem with cm11 doesnt the PC recognize it at all? Have you tried to Mount the internal memory as an USB memory in the memory settings? @steffenbakke
For USB to work, make sure that you set the USB connection mode (on phone) to MTP.

I think its based on multitasking/Skype.. When having 4 apps or such running and opening Skype it restarts from time to time. Also when I boot up the device it seems lagging the first 2 minutes even tho I've tried putting down the number of apps starting on boot. Right now the only apps starting a which isn't system apps are Skype , messenger, and two xposed modules, even with the xposed modules deactivated it happens. Might just need a fresh install but

Samsung Galaxy on5 is a pretty good phone for the price. Today I share my root method and debloated stock system backup for all to enjoy.
The version of TWRP I am linking to WAS NOT MADE BY ME. It is an official build of TWRP for our phone.
To prepare the phone to be rooted you will need a few things:
Download ODIN from the following link: Download ODIN
Download TWRP ODIN flashable TAR file for the on5 here: Download TWRP (It will say it is for T-Mobile only, but works on MetorPCS as well)
Download SuperSU Latest Stable here: Download SuperSU
Download Samsung Drivers if needed: Download Drivers
Once the above is downloaded you must then do the following:
On the phone goto Settings->About and tap "Build Number" 10 times to enable Developer Mode.
Go to Settings->Developer Mode and select "Enable OEM Unlock"
Then power off the device.
With the device powered off hold "VOL-DOWN + HOME + PWR" until Download mode appears.
Plug the phone into the computer and start ODIN with Administrator Rights.
Open Odin and place that TWRP TAR file in the [AP] slot, under Options tab disable Auto Reboot, then press [Start]
When ODIN says the flash is complete in the log window, pull the battery and put the battery back in.
Before turning back on hold "VOL-UP + HOME + PWR" to enter recovery.
Once in recovery go to Mount->Enable USB Mass Storage
Copy the SuperSU zip to the phone's storage
Disable USB Mass Storage
Go to Backup->Start Backup to backup the phone IN CASE OF ISSUES!!
Go to Install->Select SuperSU zip file and wait.
Once done, reboot the phone and you should be good!
For the custom ROM, I will be posting the information, instructions, and downloads on my website LINKED HERE You will find the download at the bottom of that page. If you have issues please let me know.
Download the system image from the link above
Extract the zip file to your external SD Card: (Example: Phone:\Ext_sd\TWRP\backups\)
Reboot into recovery (vol-up+home+pwr
Make sure System Read only is not enabled in Mount settings.
Select "Restore" -> Select the Folder you just put on your external SD Card
Wait for a few minutes.
After that is done, go back to the recovery home
Then select "Wipe"
Select "Data", "Cache", and "Dalvick Cache", and "Internal Storage" ONLY (
IF UPDATING FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION YOU MUST CLEAR CACHE/DALVIK CACHE!!!!)
Slide to wipe.
Some users are reporting that you need to also restore DATA only from a stock ROM backup.
Then reboot.
Follow android setup as normal
Profit.
I got that phone today and I was looking for roms for it. this is all I ran across. I already rooted it and have twrp and whatnot, tweaked it some. I was wondering f this is the 6.0.1 rom and if I need to unzip it and place it where my other twrp backup is or do I just flash it like it is?

This is the latest OEM ROM, debloated and rooted. So it is 6.0.1 based. and yes it is a TWRP backup so place it on the internal (Or External) SD card under "sdcard://TWRP/BACKUPS/<RANDOM_ID>/"
It is pretty much completely debloated, left a couple samsung stuff in to keep some features working, but most bloat is gone, which gives a lot of space back to the user, figured I would post it here for others to use if they wanted
I used it. Its nice, saved me a gig. I have all the apps I really want on sd card and now I have almost 2 gigs free. Was at about 750mb. Thnks for this, saved me a bit of work! Appreciated!

Adaptable Storage is a Kernel level thing, one way to do adaptable storage is to remount the SDCARD (While it is formatted to ext3), and mount it to (Or as) a folder in the /user-data partition (/data).
I can attempt to modify the kernel to allow this, but it might brick the phone because of Knox or something. I will try it out on a spare.
Edit:
Install busybox, then try the instruction here (Note the sm list-disks command, MAKE SURE TO DO THIS)
http://www.xda-developers.com/enable-adoptable-storage-for-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge/
ey i'm lookin to debloat my g550t1 but i dont really want to lose everything to install the rom. is there any chance you'd be able to give a quick run down on what's safe to remove? if not that's cool, i realize it'd probably be fairly uninteresting to you and time consuming.
anyways thanks for the work! glad to see this phone getting more love. hope more good stuff comes in the future.

What you van do here is boot into TWRP and make a backup of just your data, or a full backup if you want. Then restore thos rom (its only boot and system) then go to the backup you just made and them restore just the data. Thats what I did. You can delets all the knox apps. I did, then I went looking in all the folders and deleted anytbong that said knox in the name. I deleted a few security files and also beacon manager. If you dont get all the security files, you get a "unfortunatly security has stopped" eroor one time after boot.
All the knox can go without any extra work..
I have busybox and adoptable storage will not work. If you can fix it cool, if not, still cool! Just wish I had a little bit more storage on here for apps.

Any help installing xposed framwork in the samsung galaxy on5 ?
How do you install xposed framework in the samsung galaxy on5? (Sorry if this is out of place I always end up in a boot-loop and can't find a way to successfully install it
(The way I recover from that is using twrp and using a xposed unistaller zip file located here --->

This is the one I use, just install this, wipe delvic cache and wait. And I mean wait like 5 minutes.
And just to be clear, this mod was mafe by Wanam. This is just a link.

The file is "xposed-v80.0-sdk23-arm-custom-build-by-wanam-20160211.zip" install it from https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24411628330026060 and you'll be ready to go. After that you might go to this process saying starting apps 0 out of 200 (something like that) and tells you a service/app has stop and gives you a black screen. After that take out the battery and put it back again and turn on your phone and would give you a "starting apps" prompt again. The whole process took me bout 15 min. Btw thanks whodisname for some help highly appreciate it! Have a good day guys!!!

I used "xposed-v80.0"
This one is newer. Version 85.1
Download from the page on the link. I didnt have to do anything but install it. Once you flash it, reboot your phone and set it down for a little while. Go make some coffee or whatever. Gunna look like a bootloop. Leave it alone for 5 or 10 minutes. Then you will see it optimizing apps. Depending on what you did gonma be like 190- 250 apps. Jusy let it go. It worked like a charm on mine. Make sure you dont have any modules downloaded yet. Do that when its done.
The version is 85.1 sdk 23.
Sdk 21 is for 5.0 sdk 22 is for 5.1.1 and sdk 23 is for 6.0.1.
The one in the link is what you need. Lile I said, just wait. It will install. 15 min tops. Built specifically for samsung devices.

Install "L-Speed" from playstore, use advanced mode in app and then go to town on the kernel modifications/optimizations.
Im using "Watson" from somewhere on here. To be honest, it isnt that helpful, just slightly. I fingd this phone to be plenty snappy.
Maybe you have someyhing on there thats not acging right?
My only beef with this phone is yhat MEMORY. Damn they could have made it with just a tad more.
