has anyone tried the aftermarket battery doors? what i want to do is just get a door that actually protects the camera portion of the phone so i can put the phone down easily without worrying. the reason why i want to avoid a case is because i love the slimmness of the phone. dont want ANY bulk at all. an aftermarket battery door that is slightly thicker to compensate for the camera offset would really help. anyone used those?
Lots of threads here in the accessory section, you just have to look and read. The Samsung Qi battery door is thicker than the stock Samsung door
SwiftKey'ed from my White Sprint Note 3 via XDA Premium
Try the baseus yuppie back cover on aliexpress.com. ..bought one from there . Can guarantee that the camera is protected. 7$

Hi All,
I have a Touch HD and I am looking at replacing my battery, as I have one of the first released and the battery has come to the end of its useful life.
I have noticed that the genuine HTC 1350mV part no: 35H00120-01M has 2 metal contacts on the top right and left corners of the flat side of the battery.

All the non-genuine batteries do not have these 2 metal 'contacts' on the flat side of the battery.
When I put a multimeter across them, it shows that they are connected to each other, but not connected to the actual battery terminals. By that I mean, there is no voltage drop when I connect one of these terminals to any one of the main power terminals of the battery.
I have looked at the HTC_Blackstone_Service_Manual and it shows that these contacts connect to a metal plate. This plate could be a shield or a heat sink for the battery.
Can anyone advise me just what are these 2 contacts used for?
Are they necessary?
Will my reception suffer, if I use a non genuine battery such as one of the extended batteries?
If all 3rd party batteries don't come with these, can I assume they are not needed?
If they are not needed, then why did HTC see fit to have them in place?
Thank you in advance.
David
I guess this is for grounding purposes.
i am currently using a after market replacement battery, there is no such 2 metal 'contacts' on the battery. The replacement battery works very well with my phone. It is even works better than genuined one
I just got the (29.99 sale) extended battery. I have a couple of questions... about the COVER.
First, where is the antenna array that is so visible in the stock cover on the left? I'm still getting 4G with it but WTH???
And second, are there any other covers out there for the fat batt that are nicer? Thanks.

I believe the antenna difference is because the extended case uses metal instead of that paper crap from the original. Could be wrong, but I think that's it. As far as other cases, I've looked but haven't found any. I get horrible creaking with the extended case, so it's always covered.
The extended cover does have those antenna arrays in it, they are just coated with a flack paint or film. If you look closely there is a brand name stamped onto the antenna pieces in tiny letters of whatever company it is that makes them. I can't remember what it said and do not feel like removing the cover just to see.
The antenna areas will have a raised look or slightly different color that the plastic. If you look closely at the original battery cover you will find that one of the antennas in it is of the same type as in the extended cover. It has the brand name stamp on it and everything.
Has anyone used the Wisefinger product and can share a review? I think this would work well with a shiny case like the SGP ultra or Speck. It can also do double duty as a stand. I was just wondering if anyone has tried this combo with the Note.

someone posted about this on another thread here today. still looks like a interesting idea. i don't want something extra hanging off the rear-end of my Note to add thickness to it. just makes it that much harder to put into my pocket.
That has to be a joke right? Reminds me of one of those products you'd see in a commercial for terrible inventions

I have one and its extremely akward and uncomfortable to use with the note. The swivel feature of the wise finger its too loose and i find that when reaching over to the other side of the phone one handed, the phone rotates 45 degrees and i have to correct it with the other hand. Ive tried placing it in multiple areas on the back of the phone and i have this problem all the time
It does work as a kickstand though. However, the added bulk and lack of functionality does.not justify every day use

Well today I finished the first prototype of the dock I've been working on. Let me know what you think. I have to make a few more changes when I get time.
I forgot to include that it has an NFC tag to switch it to dock mode.

It looks a bit bulky. It seems more like a stand rather than a dock. Still better than a horizontal plate, though.
If you can get it to stay up without the back and side panels (just the base and slanted part) and also slim the panels down by half that thickness or thinner if possible it would look kooler. Also try painting it

I made one out of vinyl about a month ago but wasn't that big of a fan. I am going for more of an executive look this time around.
I think it looks very nice. All the parts look like the fit together very well.
Do you have the Nokia DT-900 inside it? I've been contemplating trying to build something w/ my DT-900 inside - don't know if I want horizontal or vertical.
Yup, I may disassemble one in the future to save some space.

Hi,
i really like the way it looks and feels but i'm afraid to use it without TPU case
does anyone have experience, is the back of XP easily scratchable?
for example when i want plug the USB i don't get it perfectly in from the first try most of the time, and already i have little scratches around the usb (2 months of usage)
i'm not really worried about physicle damage from it falling or smth like that, only the scratces to the back
is there some kind of back protector the same way there is for the screen? really thin and see through?
or does somebody know if we can buy this black metal back for the phone from ebay or somewhere? (i searched and didn't find)
If i knew i could easily replace the back then i would use it without protection and then just replace it when it's scratched
thanks for your input...
Protection Case
You can try the protection case for XP, like this one:
