New XDA?

I read in this month's issue of Stuff magazine that a new version of the XDA will be released later this year.
Browsing on internet I found only one link that showed a picture of a xda with a blue back panel and could as well be the original model.
Has anyone heard about this and maybe know where to find more info on this (if O2 will support them for instance) and some specs and maybe photo's?
Thanx
There will be a new version of the XDA but it's not certain yet which company/ies will be releasing it. I heard some rumours about bluetooth, more memory and a faster processor, I haven't heard anything on SDIO support yet.
Bluetooth would be great, WiFi would be fantastic. Maybe even GPS and a 56K color screen (for the freaks among us to watch movies)?
Anyone know the mail adress/website of HTC who makes them? Have some requests of my own....
Hope someone will post here as soon as they find out more..
If it has the newer Xscale CPU it's very likely it will support SDIO. The SD controller is build-in the CPU and all Xscale CPU's support SDIO.

Ok, first off, getting your electronics info from "Stuff" magazine is like getting steak grilling tips from PETA. Plus all magazines like that are typically posted about two months after they are written, making them pretty useless for new developments.
Secondly, predicting a new XDA is like predicting that the sun will come up tomorrow, that winter will come in a few months, or that the curry I ate today will sting my ass tomorrow. It's obviously going to happen.
It's worthless until they say "on this date a new XDA with these features will be available." And when they can do that, you'll already have read it here two months earlier.
pc pro
i have a pc pro subscription. They had a review of the new iPaq with pocketPc 2k3. they went on to mention that all the pocket devices will be getting the update. including XDA.
Tomorrow never comes? But we old get older, and hopefully wiser...

Right Carlos...
One of the main reasons for a forum is for guys like me to wonder about stuff. Ask questions to other users with the same interest. Sometimes intelligent questions and some times less intelligent, but always within the region of interest of other forum readers. If you feel a threat is dumb, don't read it and especially don't reply on it. No need for smart-ass remarks here, we just want to chat about stuff we like.
I had a question, couldn't find it in the forum so I asked. Big Deal.

LOL!
Anyway, PPC2K3 will appear on the XDA: Maybe not today; maybe not tomorrow; but soon and for the rest of your life.

Sorry, I wasn't laughing AT you, but WITH you... I posted what I did because many people don't realize just how that publishing process goes--it's very lengthy and full of PR assholes. Those "what's new in electronics" columns are one of my pet peeves. And I'm a gruff asshole by nature anyway, so it came out worse than intended.
Hehe, no harm done. At least you were true about Stuff Magazine and most of it's other companions.
So.... When is the new model comming out?
;]
Playboy says next week...
..... it will have more intellectual articles about geopolitical situation?
in this article
Taiwanese ODM High Tech Computer (HTC) Corp will ship an updated PPC 2003/ARM4 version of its Falcon (aka Spaceneedle, Wallaby) PPC Phone Edition design, as sold by AT&T, mm02 and T-Mobile, before the end of June.

and yesterday being the end of june, they seem to have missed the deadline... : [
This may be of interest..
I spoke to T Mobile UK about when the MDA was going to be introduced. They said that it was originally going to be introduced in March but now has been put back to the end of this year (because of techical difficulties?).
I wonder if they are planning to introduce the new unit.

New XDA details
This s the response I received from Carrier Devices regarding the New Qtek (XDA):
"There are plans for a new Qtek device, however I can't give out any official information. It won't be available until the end of the year, but will have Built in Bluetooth, SDIO and be tri-band"
please refer to topic http://xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1500 for further information about the XDA II
I guess I got my initial question answered, so as far as I'm concerned, this topic is now out-of-date
thanx for all the replies!
New XDA gets a mention at the register
http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/59/31500.html
As usaul no details about it though
WiFi
The article on the register hints at WiFi.
Saying that users can seamlessly jump from hot spot to gprs...
Bet it will all cost a small fortune though!!
Martin
Who cares Martin! Us suckers will still buy it, it's only money!
revival
If somebody has the time...
Bring back the wishlist for XDA II and make it a sticky.
Bring on SDIO and the bluetooth!!!!

Can we get our own E-bay here ?? :)

I see increasing posts for selling new or used XDA devices. This could be an interesting new forum.
Dear XDA developers ... can you creat new forum for XDA, accessories and spare parts tradings. This would be like a small specialized E-Bay. I would suggest it should be for only offers while the bids can be through private e-mails.
To make it in a democratic way, I added a simple poll 8)
I will be waiting
Yes, but...
It's not a bad idea...
One thing though. What can we do here to make sure it's safe to sell/buy here...
I know ebay (or at least ebays in some countries) requires the seller to register with credit card info and this ensures a certain level "trust" from the seller. If something goes wrong, ebay can follow that up.
since i'm from Romania probably only few of them will sell directly to me.
one method is to use bidpay.com(which implies no risk from the seller but maximum risk on the buyer) or paypal (but for example romania is not accepted in the system).
i've bought using my cc on ebay, bidpay, amazon, various online stores and had no problem.
it can be only an offer zone and the transactions to be processed on ebay.com (probably this can be it)
decebal
simple fact it wont work simply coz theres too many tossers who have internet acess who will rip people off like god knows what.
Dear All ..
Thanks to whoever showed interest . One thing to clarify tho, I didn't mean it to be REALLY like eBay which requires lots of logistics and security, but I just saw many posts across many forums here about selling/buying, and passed my mind the idea of having this separate forum (especially for spare parts and broken devices which most propably won't be found on eBay alikes).
The idea is to get the people connected to each others and let them to decide how to exchange items. No responsibility or laiability should be put on this site (XDA-developers.com).
Anyway, it's nice to see this spirit and discussions ... keep it

An advise to all xda developers' members

I DONT KNOW IF I SHOULD POST THIS THREAD OR NOT BUT I WOULD LIKE TO ADVISE YOU NOT TO EVER BUY STUFF FROM LYNX COMPUTER STORE OR LYNX-INDIA.COM
THE OWNER(AMARBIR) WILL FIRST GIVE YOU THE WRONG GOODS AND THEN WILL NOT EVEN TALK TO YOU AND EVEN IF HE DOES IT WOULD BE RUDE.
I CANT TELL YOU THE WHOLE STORY NOW BUT ON MY FRIEND'S RECOMMENDATION I GOT MY PC ASSEMBLED FROM HIM AND AM STILL SUFFERING.
IT IS JUST AN ADVISE SO THAT YOU DONT GET YOURSELF SCREWD UP BY BUYING GODDS FROM THIS PERSON
*****if mods wanna ban me fr posting such a stupid thread they can.but beleive me guys its just fr ur help*********
suggestion
dear all,
i think we can create a thread for this that would have data of blacklisted ones. maybe shops / vendor sites /applications & softwares. i mean all stuff that is avoidable and is known to anyone of us, should be reported here. well just a suggestion, Mods & Admin if you like it.
thanx.

Not possible, in my opinion. Because that might put this forum in trouble (legally).
So, don't think it will be possible.
BTW, no all caps please. Its consider rude.

@Addicted: Not if we just share our experiences with different vendors/shops using the "right langauge". Sharing experiences is not a crime, declaring someone bad causing damage to a business may be a crime. So share both good and bad ones.
But based on my experience, these kind of threads loose their meaning after some time when they become really long. Look at thinkdigit.com forums (if you are a reader of the popular technology magazine Digit, or if you even know about it), there are many such examples. Ankit can tell you better, he is also a member there like me.

Yes, I understand. Basically you need proof to substantiate your claim. Like I have a very serious complaint against HTC, NONE of their dealers in Kolkata keep HTC accessories . So what kind of pple do they make their dealers .
And thanks to xda, i can't go beyond HTC

[Q] Maybe Google has gotten too big? Please Read!

Just read this article and hoping it's not true;
http://www.prisonplanet.com/google-shopping-censors-all-gun-ammo-accessories-results.html
I hope its not true because I love my android devices, if it is true, I will not support google anymore. I will not pay someone that would obviously advocte for no guns and violate someones freedomes to pursue it.
So if anyone can confirm or deny it please post.....
Ironically, most of the news from that site and infowars.com are true.
BTW, if you are not like Google to mess around your search results, use other search engines or go to your fiream supplies stores directly. There are sites where you can buy firearms, and you still can go to the site directly.
I also not have much problem with Google/CIA, even I am using ANdroid phone and tablet. I always make sure that all the info in my devices are not sensitive or private.

I don't understand why you would patronize a company that you don't trust, advocates for the removal of our rights and is actively working toward that goal? I would rather jump ship to another OEM.... given whats going on these days politically this cannot be worked around or forgiven... if its true of course...
I went to shopper last night and was able to find any itemfor a weapon. Guess we will have to wait and see.
It's pretty bad that you can search "how to hide a body" and get results but you can't find a legal ammunition to buy.

I just did a search for ammo, and it came up with no results...only on the Google shopping though. When doing a google search, it found all kinds of stuff. I think they are just stating that their shopping division will no longer sell or advertise...that is fine, and their right, as long as they do not block searches, i don't have a problem with it. It is their right as a company not to sell or advertise a product or genre of products.
First off, Alex Jones is a nutcase. He takes facts and turns them into tin foil hat wearing, Koolaid drinking conspiracy theories. He's mostly to be disregarded.
However, Google is doing this. They have a "progressive" agenda and are well-known to engage in censorship... and have been for years. I'm not going to turn this into a political discussion, so you can research that on your own.
Bing doesn't censor ammo and weapon searches.
So Google choosing to no longer sell guns some how takes your rights away? Considering they are a businesses and have the RIGHT to do so...
You can still use Google to find places to buy guns. They just want no part of that. Sounds pretty damn American to me!
You want to protest them for expressing their own opinions and beliefs? That's not American *edit* Yea it is American to do that. You just look like an @$$

Google has never sold guns.
Before this thread goes any further, I have only one thing to say: what almost everyone has said so far about Google censoring ammunition and weapons has been taken too far out of context and does not accurately represent the truth. They have ONLY, and I repeat ONLY been censored from Google Shopping, not any regular Google search. Do a Google search on "ammunition" and the first place that pops up is a website where you can buy ammunition. Search "where to buy weapons" and you get a myriad of gun shops. This is in no way infringing upon your freedoms, they're a business and they can operate however they want. They also still allow you to search for those results in general search queries anyways, so they're not completely censoring them. It's just against their policies in Google Shopping to allow for weapons or ammunition to be advertised through their services, likely because they do not want to be affiliated with such types of businesses.
Furthermore, this has absolutely nothing to do with Android or the Droid Razr, so it doesn't even belong in this section. This has to do with Google and how you're upset with it over this decision.
I think Google is doing the right thing.
Only idiots want weapons for private use (sry, but it's true. Look how many people get shot in the USA and compare those numbers to any other country in the world)
Nevertheless: This has nothing to do with the razr. Maybe you should've posted this in the general section of the whole forum, not the general section of the razr forum.

Yeah, that's why I try to avoid political discussions on this forum... there's always that one guy who has to say something like this.
Google created and controls Android. Google indirectly receives money from our phone purchases. There's an obvious connections between our Razrs and Google.

Google receives no money from our phone purchases, the manufacturers do... well, I guess they do now since they own Motorola, but generalizing to Android is not correct. They only make money from Motorola phone purchases. It doesn't mean that by buying Motorola phones we're supporting this decision, though. That's an inane conclusion to come to. Yes, we're supporting Google, but it does not immediately correspond to us supporting every single decision they make.
Well This is not a Droid RAZR topic and should have been posted else where in XDA. Locked

Is it worth paying for an app review from sites like AndroidTapp or AndroidHeadlines?

Title pretty much says it all... my app's been doing decently well (made about $50 from it so far) and I'm considering putting most or all of that money into a paid review from Android review sites. Obviously I'm only halfway there since the reviews cost about $100-$150, but is it worth investing that money with them?
Devs who've bought a review before: Did you get a gigantic surge in downloads/purchases after your reviews were published or did you not see much of a difference? Also, which sites are the best ones to get reviewed by?
Thanks for your input, and sorry if this is in the wrong forum... I couldn't find any other place that was a better fit for my question.
R: Is it worth paying for an app review from sites like AndroidTapp or AndroidHeadlin
First of all i think you can use the function tip us of xda!
And secundary make more updates snd threads on sections like xperia u themes and apps!
Translations etc..
I happen to work for a blog, and refuse to take any money for reviews. All I ask is, if your app is paid that you provide the app itself free of charge.
Sadly, I don't have an android phone (yet) the or I would review it. If you would be interested in having my site review it though, drop me an email at [email protected] and visit our site, http://techfanatix.com

But now I'm using fiverr for this. It's only 5$ and sometimes it's well worth the Money
