Hey im on att note 2 now and thinking of going to tmobile for their unlimited data. I was thinking of getting htc one. is it a good phone. I flash a lot of roms so will it be supported in the future? and if I didnt like it, I was gonna JUMP to note 3 after six months or maybe even s5. WOuld love some opinions on this.
thanks

You're in the HTC One section, you're going to get nothing but good reviews. (For the most part)
Its a great phone, get it. If you don't like it take it back within 14 days.
But yeah, this will probably be locked soon.

[Q] Heading to TMobile this weekend - SgII or Amaze4G? Gunna miss Sprint

Long story short... leaving my family's unlimited everything plan (my bro just got married, fiancee getting moved into the plan, thus, kicking me out of Sprint...Stupid max of 5 lines). I am OK with this, since I need my Evo3D has got a busted screen - so I get a new phone, and I love Tmobiles 4G speeds in MN. So, I am jumping on my GF's family plan.
Long story longer... I had the Epic 4G, and told myself I would never buy a Samsung product again (long update times, awful battery, etc) But, after looking at ICS upgrade time frames for the SG2 and the Amaze 4G (same ICS dates as E3D), I think I may be leading to the SG2 based completely based off of that. SG2 is supposed to be Q1, but my guess is Junish.
Any one around here played with the Epic Touch for Sprint? (basically same phone for Tmobile, different processor, but I don't think it will make a huge difference) OR has anyone played with the Amaze?
I am going to miss the unlimited everything. But, I really never utilized it to the full potential anyway.
Thoughts?
Who said you could only get a max of 5 lines with sprint?
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Sprint.. Already have 5 lines on our account ... I get there error when I try to add a line "Thanks for choosing Sprint. You already have the maximum amount of phones you can have on this plan. You can buy a new phone and plan in our online store"
Tmobile was the same way... max of 5 lines.
Is that incorrect?
You should probably ask this question in a T-Mobile forum.
Good call... posted in Tomible forums... my Bad.. can cancel this one.
Just didn't know if anyone would have any thoughts over here.

I almost went to T-Mobile myself last week, but after a long hard thought (and after selling my 3D in the process) I decided to stay with Sprint to save money, but I was gonna buy a used Sensation off Craigslist & just get added onto my girl's plan. If you're willing to sign a contract and stay with HTC, wait until April for the One S to come out on T-Mobile, & if you don't want to wait, then get the SGS2, they have great devs over there.

My family has sprint n we have a family plan with 6 lines. Trust me when i say this, they can do it. It's possible.
you just have to bug customer service and the higher ups to make it happen.

I switched from the 3d to the Epic Touch and I love it. Not trying to start a war around here people. Just saying I like the phone. I still have my 3d and play around with it. Seems snappy and love the bigger screen. Rooting and flashing is a bit more trickier. Make sure you read read read before doing anything.

I would just go ahead and make the switch to T-MO. If you have great coverage in both data and phone calls, then it's a no brainer.
I have the GS2 so far in white and it's fantastic. We have some fantastic developers and two more are headed toward our way after moving on from the Samsung Vibrant/SGS4G.

Well if you don't mind waiting you should wait for the One X that T-Mobile should be getting shortly. Better than both, IMO.

The galaxy s 2 is getting ics march 15th so I'd go with that one. Or if you want to wait get like a cheap prepaid phone the later get the one x. Tmobiles version is gonna be the quad core tegra 3 version!

Eligible for Upgrade Soon, Where to go next?

Hi All,
I am eligible for my upgrade is 10 days, ready to retire the 3d, and am trying to figure out what phone to get next. Sprint doesn't seem to have many new phones coming out. I have always had HTC phones, ever since windows mobile, and i love sense. I had the galaxy S II for like 3 hours but traded it in for the 3d cause I hated the samsung interface and the size was too big for one handed operation. As far as I can tell the only worthy upgrades now are the EVO 4G LTE and the Galaxy III, both of which are huge. No Iphone 5, not going to happen, dont suggest it. Anyways love to hear your thoughts and opinions. Thanks
Galaxy nexus will be a good choice !
I have an idea:
Get an iPhone 5, everyone will want one, then trade it for any phone you want, they'll do it.

I read over threads of devices I was interested in looked for common issues people were having with phones, trolls and mods. HTC do you have s off or dev unlock can u deal with dev unlock of do you wait for s off. Samsung unlock you phone without restrictions. Performance things you need your phone for games etc. Me personally I chose the gs3 after I swore to never own another Samsung after the instinct.
Get a nexus device. Development is crazy good.
Glad I dumped the 3d.

From what I hear, both are nice. Go to their respective sections here and see which community you like better. Also try them in store first.

Honestly, if you don't want a far larger phone, there isn't much out there. The Evo 4G LTE, Galaxy Nexus, and Galaxy SIII are all about the same size. The Galaxy Nexus is a better phone than the 3D, but not by much. The Development is far, far better though.
If you don't get your upgrade immediately, you might be able to wait around for another 4.3" phone that has better specs, or you could skip this generation.
Wait until early next year for krait architecture quad core phones
That will be a real improvement, else go with one S

Since the Mogul I have owned HTC phones. I have upgraded every year and my first android phone was the First EVO. I got the EVO 3D on launch because it was a good upgrade over the EVO and I wanted to try the 3D. But this is the first year I havent gone out and replaced my phone on launch. I looked at the specs and did my research of the EVO 4G LTE but spending the 200+ bucks didnt seem ideal for me.
Yes the LTE is a step up from the 3D but I have found that im happy with the 3D as its still very fast and with the ICS update its even better than before. I have decided to skip this generation of phones and wait till the next gen HTC phones come out. Also as gimmicky as the 3D feature is for most, I actually use it quite a bit as I have a 3D TV at home.
What it comes down to in my opinion is this..... Use your upgrade now and get a great phone or wait 6-8 months for the next gen phones to start hitting the market and get an even better phone. This is what im doing myself but again its all about weighing your options.
I would suggest you to wait for a month or two ang get a new Nexus and as far rumor goes this year it will be at least 3 of them.
But if you really like Sense skin then i guess either go with HTC One X or Evo 4G LTE.
Thanks all, did you say new nexus?

I would go with the HTC EVO 4G LTE if staying with sprint, personally when my contract is up I'm jumping ship to T-Mobile's new unlimited plan and getting the Samsung Galaxy S III unless there's a better option by then.

If the OP went to T-mo, I would suggest the One S. It's a very fast phone that's thin and much smaller than the One X and galaxy SIII
I'm in the same boat as you. Today I changed my mind after reading a few articles about the snapdragon S4 quad-core phones.....and it looks like the wait wont be too long. One of the articles was a new phone by LG ...the Optimus G. I've never had an LG phone, but omg the specs on this are so impressive......the screen alone is almost a reason to wait.
I've only bought HTC phones for the family (evo(s) and 3d) I really wanted an evo lte, but if I bought today my 2 years would start on a phone that's already been out 2-3 months. Buy today or wait you cant lose
note 2:good:
Note 2-- I agree
I'm looking forward to the next iteration of the note, but if I was going to get a new phone today, I think I would get a galaxy nexus iii.
Happy shopping.
He said the Evo LTE and SGIII are too big, so why in the hell would he want the Note 2? You people need to learn how to read.

Well, in the defense of us people, he said they are huge, but they were the only worthy contenders. This implies he had not ruled them out. Otherwise he would have said not to bother suggesting or discussing them.
At this time, they really are the only two phones for Android power users that Sprint has (besides the 3d of course). My suggestion to check out the dev scene of each device still holds.

[POLL] How long are you keeping your Galaxy Note?

There are a lot of exciting and new phones/tablets coming out soon. Android 4.3 is out, the Galaxy Note III is around the corner, there is a new Nexus 7, Moto X is coming, etc. Are you tempted to buy any of these devices?
How long are you planning to keep your Samsung Galaxy Note before upgrading to another phone or simply not using it anymore?
I'll probraly get the note 4 , heh

lol ive already went through one and am on my second. the first went into a lake, bounced off concrete, and just finally the screen went out on me 2 months ago. i had all these accessories so i figured id just get another. then when this one dies i'll get something different.
Really you must be bored ........
••••changes with every flash••••
I am done with contract phones. I like my note and as long as it functions normally I see no reason to upgrade it. I have 4 phones on my plan and the last contract ends in September. After that I'm going to try straight talk or TMobile. Of my 4 phones, I have 1400 minutes, two data plans, nation wide, unlimited texting and I get a 25% discount through my job and I'm still paying $200 a month. If I switched to ST or TM, I can get 4 phones with full data....etc for the same price. Granted you don't get 4G LTE, but I really wouldn't miss that HSPA+ and 3G is good enough for me.
When one of my phones dies, I'll gladly search Craigslist and buy something to replace it used...
I just finally dumped my ATT Uverse...... ATT sucks
Just until i can get a deal on either Note 3 or Mega. Whichever is bigger and i can get refurb deal on. Last purchase i got 2 S3's and Note for $100

Currently there is not a phone on the market that I would take over my Note. As for the up and coming devices pretty much all we have are unfounded rumors. I am looking forward to the Note 3 release and if it has the size and features that I want I imagine that it will be my next upgrade. But there again I'll be waiting to find out exactly what these new phones have in them before I do anything. :fingers-crossed:

I'll probably pick up a clean used Note 2 this fall once the 3 comes out, primarily for battery life. I also want to get the TMobile version this time. I've been spending a lot of time in Milwaukee and my TMO S2 just does better than the Note. I might even ditch my 7.0+ when I get the new phone.
Note 3 or Moto X for me. I'm hoping a dev of my old phone will move to Moto X when it releases and if he does then I'm sold.

Love my Note may get the Note 3 or Mega whichever they are gonna call it. But I will always keep my OG Note until it dies on me.
I'm sticking with my Note i717 until Note 3 is out AND has good Cyanogenmod support. Can't stand using non-AOSP ROMs. I will never buy a device without a wacom stylus again, the Note has proven it to be a great feature. I like the 5+ inch screen size as well. I wish Note 3 went back to 16:10 (maybe 1920x1200) but I'll probably still get it regardless as long as there's a T-Mobile supported version I can get off contract, and preferably with a Qualcomm SoC because Exynos sucks for open source ROMs it seems.

I live between Milwaukee and Chicago. Try flashing the TMO UVLG3 modem. I've had the best results with that.
As long as devs port the newest Android OS to the Note, I will most likely stick with it. I don't like the physical Home button, on newer Galaxy S# and Note# phones. Maybe the Galaxy Mega or HTC One Max (if it has an SD card slot).
For FOREVER. If it will last that long c: I'd say at most . . . two years. I just ordered my Note a few days ago off of eBay and I'm patiently waiting for it to arrive. I'm leaving my Pantech Burst behind (I'm gonna miss it), but this phone will be an upgrade. I can't wait to see what it can do
Will be upgrading in Sept.

I'm patiently waiting for the Note 3. I just recently purchased the AT&T S4's for my wife and two sons and they are great devices, yet I love the larger screen on the Note. I've had the Note since it came out and waited on it for about 4-6 months prior to release after reading about it. Since purchase I have many cases, battery wall charger and 3 batteries (which in always carry 1 extra in pocket). If the Note came in a 6 inch screen like the Mega I'd love it, but the Mega's specs aren't very appealing to me. With the rumors mentioned about the Note 3 seems like I won't get 6 inch, more like 5.7 following the .2 increase from Note 1-2. Now regarding network I would NEVER go to anything less than LTE again after being spoiled with these blazing speeds of 60 mbps + . The service is sometimes almost 2x my home network speed (30 mbps Charter) and almost 5x the speed of regular U-Verse speed (10-12mbps if they are lucky). If been using JellyBean Sandwich Rom which has kicked every other ROMs butt (in my opinion) regarding stability, battery life and sheer performance and kept me satisfied with my Note 1. Hopefully we will see more about Note 3 soon.
My son is getting great battery life on his Note 2 even not rooted. I may go with the N2 or maybe the Note 3 if Samsung doesn't run it with the new Tizen operating system. I have been eagerly awaiting the N3 ...but fear they will ruin it.

[Q] due for an upgrade...

Hey guys, I'm currently a galaxy nexus owner, have been since the day they released it almost 2 years ago. I'm elliglible to upgrade (verizon) in august, and i'm looking very heavily at the galaxy note 2. I've wanted this phone for a long time, and I would like to know if you would suggest someone to buy this phone right now, now it's about a year and a half old, or however old it is. Does it still oooh and aaah the way it did when it first came out? Usually I don't buy phones that old, but this phone just seems like it is still cutting edge. I was wanting to hear from you guys before I made my decision. Should I go with note 2 or hold out for the note 3? Do you think the note3 coming out will drop the price of hte note 2?
If you're holding on to your unlimited data, then buy the note 2 after 3 comes out, that'll knock down the price by some. If you're going to use the upgrade then wait for the3, which will be even more awesome. IMHO

Is Verizon Edge that bad of a deal.

For someone like myself that lives where Verizin is the clearly best carrier with LTE and the others don't, is the new edge program that bad of a deal. I should add that I like to upgrade phones a couple of times a year. Seems great for a person like myself. Comments on what im over looking with this. I REALLY want the note 3 but looking for best deal.

If you really like to upgrade several times a year it's basically the only reasonable option for you on Verizon. It's much, much more expensive than waiting out to get new customer pricing, of course, but if that's not an option for you than edge isn't so bad.
Here's some good info on it so you can think in numbers: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...ew-payment-plan-options-start-on-august-25th/
And here's a good opinion piece on it: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...ke-leaving-your-carrier-early-more-expensive/
Edge
I personally am in the same boat. I think it's messed up the verizon came out with this program the month after I resigned a new 2 year agreement. I have had the LG G2, HTC ONE, and Crapple Iphone 5 all in the last month with the edge program. all I needed to do was go in and get a new line on the edge plan since the line in I contracted I just cancelled the new number and kept the phone on my existing line. Then a week later I decide I want to try something else I sell the phone at a good price of course pay off the edge and go get another one. I am awaiting my note 3 as I'm typing this. Try it out folks it's a great deal especially for those with unlimited who don't want to upgrade or lose unlimited!
Thanks for the opinions guys. I may give it a try. Just feels like I'll never pay it off withvthecedge orogram and constantly upgrading.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
I can't help but wonder if rooting the device would void your edge up eligibility since it voids warranty.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I currently have the Edge program and find it useful for my needs. Like you, I switch phones a lot, which makes my wife mad. However, it's been pretty good so far. Look at this way, you only have to pay about $50 up front and still have the 14 days to decide. If you don't like it cancel and go to a two year contract. I like the freedom to get newer devices or just sale it and pay it off,
It doesn't cost a single penny more than buying the phone up front non subsidised. You just get interest free payment plan. It doesn't lock you intro a service contract just a credit plan for the device.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 4
I took the plunge today and we'll see how it turns out. I like the idea of being able to sale it and be out of contract if you want or just pay half and get another phone. Sometime down the road I suppose you'll pay the full price if you decide to call it quits with Verizon.
The good thing about it is that you don't have to worry about selling your old phones if you need the money. I think It's cool but I'd rather just keep my old phones... If this one holds up well ill definitely be keeping it after I buy the next one.
