DO NOT update to MJ7. You are very lucky to have gotten an MDK phone. Read the Hyperdrive thread, I believe flashing instructions are in the first post. With an MDK phone you'll be able to flash any Verizon S4 ROM, including AOSP builds, if you so choose.

is that the first page where says to
1. You MUST READ Through the Entire first page of the Thread
2.You MUST be ROOTED
3. You MUST have a custom recovery installed!
For Verizon Users
FOR MDK Unlocked Phones (TWRP/CWM)
1. Download latest Hyperdrive Rom version
2. Reboot into Recovery
3. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
4. Wipe cache and dalvik cache
5. Install Rom
6. Reboot (First Boot may take up to 10 mins)
7. Let Phone sit for 10 minutes
8. Reboot again
9 Enjoy!

As said DO NOT UPDATE. Read up on loki. Your phone is rare in that it still has the original software on it, its the only one that has an exploit to bypass the bootloader. If you update you could lose custom recovery forever.

If your s4 is mdk turn off and boot to recovery by holding volume up and power...if its mdk and running hyperdrive you should already have custom recovery installed...if so you can run pretty much anything available...do some reading and learn up...post your recovery version here...it may not be up to date...older versions work well but don't always play nice with newer ROMs...if you need any help just ask...I myself as well as many others are more than willing to help...if you don't know ask...you don't wanna brick an mdk as chances are you won't find another one

Most likely the advanced reboot menu is active. Press and hold the power button. If there is a reboot to recovery, press it. If not, press reboot. If a new menu pops up, press recovery. If not. Power off. Now his the up volume button and press power until it starts up. Then let go of just the power button until some tiny blue writing shows up in the upper left. Then let go of the volume button and wait for the recovery to boot.
Then MAKE A BACKUP. Select that option and do it with the default settings.
Keep your phone plugged in.
Then install the V12 you downloaded. It's aroma so it will step you through.
And keep reading everything you can.

Welcome to the MDK master race!
Depending in which recovery you want to use CWM or Team Win. Most likely it has a recovery already installed, go to the power menu and pick recovery mode, you boot to the recovery.
You can update to the latest modem via the modem thread.
Rom build and baseband are different thinks when on the MDK version.
Like someone said here dont upgrade to any other version example MJ7.
The only thinkvyour ever going to need to upgrade to the latest greatest Rom/Android version is your recovery.

after that the triangle went away but it sent me to the android system recovery 3e, it gives me the option to reboot and ive tried that but it stays at the screen where it just says SAMSUNG GALAXY SII and doesnt do anything else, i try to go into download mode again and it sends me to the android system recovery 3e again with the other options being: 1)apply update from sdcard 2)wipe data/factory reset 3)wipe cache partition. i clicked on the wipe data/factory reset too and nothing happened. what do i do?

Wipe data/factory reset is the correct next step. Select that line using the vol buttons, then press the power button. You will see text appear that confirms the wipe was completed. Then your phone should boot.

That's your call, of course. I'd recommend against it. If you really want stock ICS I'd at least install stock plus root, and install a custom and known safe kernel. See this thread in development.
Or, install the custom firmware of your choice from the forums here. For a popular stock ICS rom, there is Semi by AJ Newkirk.

Teamwin looping after hitting the verizon OTA update button

Hey all i accidentally hit the OTA update "OK" button when it popped up on my screen. I've been deferring it for the past few months but my finger slipped and hit the "OK" instead of the "defer" and choosing a date to ask again.
I have a looping "Teamwin" logo and it keeps looping.. Cant seem to do anything. I've taken out the battery and then start it up but it still does the same thing.
Any advice, step by step to get out of this loop?
Thanks!
David

yep click the link in my sig...refer to section 1b. you can probably get away with using root66 so you do not have to reroot and unlock BL.
Also when you get back up and running I would recommend freezing SDM1.0 apk with a App such as Titanium back up pro and you will no longer get prompted for OTA updates.

if you had an updated firmware then that file wouldnt work for you. i also noticed though you put that file in the bootloader field instead of the pda field when you tried flashing it one of those times. that may have been a bad thing. you could try to flash the other file marked vramc from that thread.

root66 works on all devices with the current firmware since it does not contain a bootloader, recovery, or wipe data. Sometimes it will cause a bootloop which all that is needed is to wipe data in recovery.

you need to boot into recovery and wipe data...if you can get into recovery the a full odin package will need to be flashed such as stock VRAMC3. However it looks like you figured it out.

[Q] Potentially Soft bricked

I recently rooted my s4, hoping that I could put kitkat on it. I found that I couldn't just flash a rom with rom manager, so I installed safestrap, and I put 10.2 and a 11 nightly onto my internal storage. I flashed one of them (idiot me forgot which), and I rebooted. Now, my phone will show "samsung custom" and it will go to a screen that says "safestrap disabled." I can either click "recovery" or "continue." Recovery just brings me to the safestrap menu, but continue brings me to a blue (maybe aquamarine) colored screen that has static green lines and sifting/disappearing pink lines. Please help, I'm really worried I bricked my phone in my idiocy.
EDIT: So now, no matter what, it gets stuck at the "samsung custom" screen. If boot into recovery, It goes to a Verizon unauthorized software page. Is my phone bricked?
Yes...you didn't research at all. Countless threads on this issue.

No. It is not bricked. Why on earth would you try to install a CM ROM on a Safestrap phone?

So you installed that ROM onto to safe stock side in safestrap? I'm thinking you did.. But just wondering. And did you make a backup before you did anything? Safe strap is designed to be really safe... And if u do install anything to the stock slot you need to be extra careful and make sure you have a backup. Like josh said.. Probably the best bet now is to just Odin the stock firmware back on that phone. Not really hard just look in the development section you'll see ODIN

Most of the ROM developers have fairly explicit instructions on what the requirements are for their ROMs. Others take the approach that you should do some homework before you do something that will potentially turn your $600 phone into a paperweight.
At any rate, you're not the first nor will you be the last. Live and learn.

Do you know what build you were on? Go to Settings>About Phone. Scroll to the build information. We need the last three characters of that build - two letters and a number that start with a "M."

Follow the directions. I can't hold your hand because I've never done it. I have just a little experience with ODIN. There's another thread in the development forum that tells you how to do it for the MK2 base. There's a bit more detail on the directions. You can try the MK2 .tar file but the instructions say that might not work.
That will take your phone back to the way it was when it came out of the box. I'd strongly suggest you leave it like that until you've done your homework.
Here's a hint to help you out. Most everything you might need to know is on the first page of each forum. All of the latest and greatest information will be there, including the bugs and the workarounds.

[Q] Bricked my S4 trying to implement SafeStrap

Eh.... things have changed with the S4, well for me. I was able to root and unlock the bootstap on my S3, but from what I've read the bootloader for the S4 is still locked. So I tried to get the SafeStrap working and I can get to the config screen and the logo, but when I try and load a ROM and boot into it, the screen goes black and doesn't load anything.
I tried to go back to the stock ROM, but it won't load that one either. Is there a process to reimage the phone and get it back to stock? I tried to do the Volume Up/Home/Power at the same time, but it takes me to SafeStrap. Under the wipe and Advance Wipe options, there are settings to wipe, is this where it should be done? Any other options like Odin? Used to what I did with my S3. Is there a process to remove SafeStrap and get back to stock to start from scratch?
Thanks for the help!
Found Odin, going to try that and see where that gets me. Anyone experienced the issue with the screen going blank while using SafeStrap by chance?

YAY!! Fixed it. Followed this link, http://androidcentral.us/2013/09/how-to-fix-firmware-upgrade-encountered-an-issue-on-kies/
Had to get the latest firmware, so not sure what this means for me getting root. But if the bootloader is still locked, I may just hold off on flashing an image or I may try again later.

You can still safely root your phone using saferoot, then install SafeStrap. You may have just tried flashing a non SafeStrap compatible ROM the first time.
I wouldn't take the KitKat ota just yet either since root and SafeStrap are not guaranteed.

Well I think the issue is one, I was used to the way I did the S3 and I hadn't done it in a while. I also rooted my phone another way than the first step in the process I found on the forums, so I didn't follow THAT process step for step. I do plan to try it again since the phone is sorta a square one right now, just maybe on a weekend when I don't need it the next day.
Thanks again for replying!

[How-To] Update to G900T_OB1-5.0 and KeepRoot w/Knox(0x0)

**You can begin the following process from any Build/ROM but you must already have Root Access**
**Required** FlashFire - Play BETA - PREVIEW
1. Join the G+ community using the same Google account as you're using for Play on your phone/tablet Here.
2. Sign up to receive the BETA versions from Play Here.
- Use the link provided after sign-up to download the app.
**Caution!** The process below is only for the G900T T-Mobile S5 Variant. Use on any other device may result in a hardbrick!
Download:
- G900T_OB1_Stock_Rooted_ROM
- G900T_OB1_Stock_DeOdexed_ROM
Set screen timeout to 10 mins before beginning!
1. Place the ROM onto your device (use either internal or ext-sdcard).
2. Open the FlashFire app and "Agree" to the Terms and Conditions.
3. Press "(+)" twice to bring up the "Actions" menu.
4. Select "Flash Zip or OTA" and locate and select the ROM. Leave "Auto-mount" unchecked under the "Options" menu and press the checkmark to continue.
5. From the main menu Uncheck all options under "EverRoot" and use default "Reboot" setting.
6. Last, press the lightning bolt then "Ok" to begin the flash .
The screen will turn black then display the contents of your system before beginning the flash. FlashFire will pause for about 1 minute while flashing the "system" partition. Once complete your device will reboot and pause on the T-Mobile splash screen for about 1 -2 minutes (10 - 15 mins for the DeOdexed version) before completely rebooting. Done!
Tip: for blazing fast speed turn off animations from Developer Options and reboot!
Known Issues:
- None!
Optional - Enable Native Tethering:
- G900T_OB1_TetherAddOn (Flash using FlashFire's "Flash Zip or OTA" option).
Notes:
1. This process will not affect your knox warranty flag.
2. The above process will update your Modem, Non-hlos, System, Kernel, Stock Recovery, and Bootloader to OB1. No need to wipe prior to flashing!
3. If you are currently unrooted and on a non-"Towelroot-able" firmware version you must first a)downgrade to G900TUVU1ANE5 using Odin(perform a factory data reset from recovery after flashing), b)root using Towelroot, then continue with the above process.
Anyone confirmed this for the G900T with pictures and all? If it works, I'll give it an update to the compilation thread.

You can but the whole point is to not use TWRP because it trips your warranty flag.
I just tried this and KNOX has not been tripped. Once my phone has completed the update I'll upload some screenshots.
EDIT:
I apologize for not providing links but I'm below the 10 post threshold.
Mods, I'm just trying to contribute but understand if you need to edit this.
Hope this is enough, if you'd like more please let me know.

Nice! Thanks for confirming!
Is there any way of flashing through Odin to go back to KitKat? Just being cautious. If this works great than thanks for all the hard work. Been waiting for this.

I just went back to KitKat today from stock G900T OTA update. I googled "downgrade galaxy s5 lollipop to kitkat" and the 1st option was a tutorial from AndroidCentral titled "TUTORIAL: Downgrade Samsung Galaxy S5 from 5.0 to 4.4 KitKat."
I successfully downgraded to 4.4.2 after 2 reboots and running "wipe data/factory reset". From there I followed the steps in OP for rooted 5.0 Lollipop.

People previously attempted this method by using the inject SuperSU option in MobileOdin. The problem is MobileOdin uses SuperSU v1.94 which is incompatible with 5.0.
Users are now instructed in the OP to untick the inject SuperSU option. Instead the ROM is pre-rooted with SuperSU v2.46.
Worked flawlessly, thanks muniz!

no, erases nothing, just like a normal OTA update,
I should say thank you to the OP, it worked for me,
only trouble I had was with Mobile Odin- had to switch to Dalvik for it to work

I actually intended to include in the instructions to check "wipe data and cache" and "wipe dalvik." But I have not seen anyone report any issues that may stem from not doing so.
Thanks muniz_ri!!!
Work great. I didn't have to wipe cache or dalvik cache.
