I suppose the title says it all..
I know that the Amaze is lacking in development compared to devices such as the Sensation but there is so much drama here in the Amaze forums... It's kind of ridiculous.
I'm honestly considering buying an HTC Sensation just to get away from the drama here in the Amaze forum.
I really do believe that, though there are exceptions, this entire forum is full of a bunch of spoiled kids who wouldn't even have this device if it weren't for Mommy and Daddy.
Flaming and *****ing and generally behaving like children.
Alright folks.. Lets see how bad I get ripped open for this one..
I considered it for a short time but not after getting s - off. I am staying with my Amaze.

LOL... Get a new phone because of childish behavior on this one? Really? LMAO That's childish in itself. If you only get a phone to participate in this community, then you need friends.
Instead of dumping your awesome phone, dump the "childish community" and leave your phone the way it is.
I mean you're a senior moderator. We could actually use your abilities to help moderate this ridiculous kid zone and clean it up.

I'm actually a retired senior moderator. I have absolutely no powers on this site anymore. I did pm MikeChannon requesting he reinstate me to this forum only in an attempt to help straighten it up so you're both right and wrong in that regard.
As far as buying a phone just to participate in a community, you're completely wrong about that. Every single phone I have owned since my first Motorola Razr has been a touch screen HTC device and I've been an active member of XDA for almost as long.
I also have no desire to get rid of my Amaze. I simply said that since I'm thoroughly addicted to XDA, I would almost rather have a sensation where there seems to be far less drama.
You see.. I'm a grown man with a wife and daughter. I'm an auto mechanic at a respectable car dealership and I have no desire to sift through 20 pages of useless threads and posts just to read a handful of useless, practical posts.
If Mike decides to reinstate me, you have my word that you will start to notice a big difference around here.

You've said 12 ics threads plenty of times before, but I don't see them, either I'm blind or there's actually a lot less than that. But it's not just the mods job, it also takes plenty of help from the members for reporting things, since we can't be on all the time.

I don't think that's exactly what he meant.
I'm sure you'll admit that it would be nice to have a partner to help maintain the Amaze forums. Who knows.. If Mike decides to reinstate all of my responsibilities as a Senior Mod, I can be of GREAT assistance to you. I know how to do all kinds of weird things.
I was the first person(that I know of) to figure out how to change the date stamp on any post. I actually changed the date stamp of the OP of one of my own threads in the HD2 forum by more than 2 years, predating the device.

I think I know what you meant, and there is a co-mod that does his own here. I think that I'm just a little to nice and let too much slide. The funny thing, when I did get stern people got crazy about it. So do you want a nice mod or a stern one, it doesn't seem to be enough for this forum either way

I believe you need one of each. Having one nicer, understanding mod and then also a NO-BS mod who doesn't give too many chances.
I was the latter of the 2. I don't know if you are familiar with the HD2 fora or not but I am responsible for the restructure it received a while back. You have NO IDEA how many temp-perm bans I had to fork out both during and after that restructure with all the warez and new users we had come in. That forum was a real mess. I was the NO-BS mod that whipped it back into shape.
I'm just saying that even though you may very well be a great moderator(sorry I don't watch much these days) and your partner as well, it never hurts to have a 3rd set of eyes helping out.
Anyways...
You can really close this thread I suppose. I was just venting I guess.. Wanted to see if I was alone in my frustrations or not..
if anything I thought the "drama" only adds to the fun of the forums
i dont see how it affects what device you wold want to own.

I just reported 6 that have been commented on in the last 7 days... lol I labeled them ics1-ics6 for Wardfan in the report box. I would have copied and pasted all 12 but my laptop screen is junked and I'm just on my thrive tablet now. That also doesn't include 3 dev requests (2 from same guy) on what we all want in a ROM or the Amaze vs Sensation/sgs2/bb/etc... I hope that's sufficient
Edit.. I see some changes being made and THANK YOU from me at least..

Greetings, everyone. As you can see, I'm from the One X forums, and I have come in peace. I came here for one reason only, to ask the Galaxy S3 users of their experiences, but please don't make it long. But don't misunderstand me as I am loving my HOX, reaches 5+ hours od screen time with normal to a bit hard usage too. Anyways, have you ever, even for just a few moments, had a feeling of doubt and regret after using your phones for a time? I'm sking because I feel this sometimes too, and am asking myself whether to buy an S3 or not. Btw, please don't be offensive. I tried to be as polite as I could.

And this thread is bound to attract some moderate level of barbequeing! Good luck

I see, but the whole point that I wanted to point out was to simply ask whether for just a moment, has anyone felt, even if it's just a tiny little feeling of doubt or regret after some time with their devices. A simple yes or no could suffice. But HONESTY must be at hand, too. I would apologize however if some of you would just find this useless and start saying how the S3 is better. A yes or no is all I need, I would do the counting myself. But some few explanations of your answer would also be great

I love my S3 and it`s bleeding fast but the screen of the HOX is better than ours. That said the S3 has much better batterylife, removable battery, sdcard slot, better cpu as said and i like touchwizz better than sense, alltough i don`t use ( Nova Prime). I have had the HOX also so i can compare i think. Both are good devices with their pros and cons.
I like HTC indeed i had a HD2 probably the most hacked and "liked" phone ever on XDA, the One X is indeed almost on a par with this phone but no removable battery or no micro sd card facility meant i could not consider it over the Galaxy S3 and coming from an Galaxy S2 i was always gonna get the Galaxy S3.
I'm running Supernexus stable Jelly Bean on my Galaxy S3 and it is blazing fast and super smooth, too early to post about battery life as i only flashed it yesterday but when i had Android Revolution and CheckRom i could too get over 5 hours screen on time.
To conclude i would say the top 2 smartphones on the market in order are
1 - Samsung Galaxy S3
2 - HTC One X
My brother is having issues with his HTC one X while my SGS3 is fine as ever. Does that make you think otherwise?

Well the s3 is my first ever smartphone. it feels a lot more plasticky than the s2 and the back cover feels like its gona break every time i need to pull the battery. my friends love the take picture while you shoot video feature.
At first I was shocked by the battery life since i was used to my nokia mobiles lasting upto 3 days with a single charge.
I got over this quickly as i began to realize the s3 is actually a powerful mini pc. if ur a heavy user it makes complete sense to buy a spare battery.
The stock rom was slooooow. full of bloatware. ram management could give me at best 190MB. when i realized that in addition to this i couldnt install firewalls that was the last straw.
I came to xda and studied the rooting process, and eventually installed cyanogenmod 9 on it. boots take just as long but i now get upto 420mb free ram. i was a bit turned off by the 'no camera flash, no fm, no hdmi' feature (or lack thereof) of the mod but got over this the moment the boot animation played out. besides the camera is fixed in the new nightlies, i can use spirit fm and i had hdmi out in my last 2 phones n never bothered to use it.
I'm never going back!!!
Why is the dev community for this device so small??
Is it because its only been released in november or because its not selling well and not a lot of people are buying it???

I see... what a shame... i believe this to be a substantial improvement over the one x hence why I went for it.. just that I've had the phone for 5 days and I feel like I bought a phone that's been released 2 weeks ago instead of 2 and a half month's ago since I feel the development community/user base is so ridiculously small for such a high end amazing (in my personal opinion) device
do you reckon the user base will rapidly grow ??

Some times there are exceptions lol the bigger the userbase the quicker bugs get reported and fixed and the more stable roms become also the more people own the device the more developers start developing for this device and the more choice we get in terms of mods, tweaks, roms
The international device has cm10,aokp,aosp and ****loads of sense based roms. Personally I think it's enough.

It needs more choice mate, there's like 10 roms on the internation version of the phone, 5 sense and 5 non sense roms and that's it, sure we got the main ones but compared to other devices such as the gs3 and htc one x this is nothing lol we ESPECIALLY need more mods and themes for our device as you can barely find any especially on any sense roms
First of all, for this was one ''fast buying'' when i bought this phone - i didnt rly do a research about it.. most important - didnt check xda.
So when i came here, i was suprised in a bad way - such small community and quite low activity in dev section. ( i came from old good desire, where even after 2+ years its still active deving there).
I even considered to change my new HOX+ to regular HOX or even GS3, but after all for various reasons i stayed with HOX+... i must say i love it!
The thing is i personally love it even as stock... don't get me wrong - i could call my self flashomanic, i flashed my old dersire serval times in a week, even in day sometimes, but on HOX+ at the moment i don't see the need.
So i cant be the only one who don't yet see the need to start flashing... Phone is new and we haven't got bored with stock yet. In time it will grow, but i dont think that as big as hox orginal. But will see...
Well that's my opinion.
I'm still hoping that one day all roms will be compatible with both versions of the x+ via aroma, that way the community isn't split and everyone gets twice as many devs.
probably will never happen though
Seriously still very early days, if u want to see small comunities check the xperia threads which took months to release only a few roms each. Can take 6 months for a community to grow not a couple of months...
Of course the desire grand daddy of android phones, sgs3 and hox have a huge threads, they been out for yrs and still have huge followings.
The LG optimus 2x took a yr to get to where it is even now, and its now huge.
Very very early days... And we have heaps of great roms already.
Redundant thread.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
Yeah, some communities are huge and not to mention OLD. Check this friggin' BEAST that apparently refuses to die. The community there is alive and kicking. I still have the damned thing staring at me, growling, after all these years lol I've flashed it so many times I'm surprised it's still holding together
This dev community is great, we have awesome roms and kernels...period
My 2 cents.. :victory: Samsung hurt this phone. THe GS3 came out shortly after the original One X. The original one X was a nice technology leap for phones and since it was released a few weeks earlier than the GS3 it got a bunch of the community. The GS3 got the majority of it though. a lot of people were eligible for upgrades from their single/dual core phones. This Hox+ is a great phone but not so much better than the GS3, or OG hox for that matter, that it's worth it to pay early termination or buy the phone full price. I think its just a timing issue mostly as well as no new groundbreaking features. Doesnt help that i havent seen even one HOX+ commercial on TV but i see hundreds of GS3 commercials.:crying:

I betcha specific phone threads dont do a whole heck of a lot of growing after 6 months.. Certainly some exceptions, you listed a few. I'm talking more about phones with nothing new to offer over phones already on the market.(like Hox+) There's Way to many newer better stronger faster phones available to choose from after a 6 month period for a dev. It may grow some from regular joes but Devs are probably on the decline (as far as new devs) after 6 months :good: Unless its a real solid phone and they start selling it for $50-$100. Dev community would grow then :silly:
lloir has done a great job with aosp for this device (many other htc devices should be so lucky)
turge has now brought viper rom to the att version, and m0narx will for intl
idk, to me as a user id feel pretty lucky with whats available now and coming soon...given that its a really small userbase
There is some great work done on this device all ready. Some big roms in the works as well. Don't the International device was only released if I am right on the 22nd of October so it is a very new device. People have not had time to get there hands on it.
Personally I am very happy I went for this over the One X. It is an amazing phone!
Not to mention we have great custom kernels for both sense and non-sense
Sent from my HTC One X+
No need to whine. You have a nice bunch of choices yet on this phone. Having said that, I think One X+ will never get the popularity of One X.
You have to think in terms of cycles. A big number of HTC Devs switched from Desire HD to One X or to Sensation and from Sensation to One X. Always about a year. So many of them have no reason at all to switch to One X+, especially as the next generation will already be here in late spring/early summer (which will be around a year then again since One X).
When HTC starts pushing out updates that screw up the phone (ala the Inspire) the dev activity will pick up.
We have insert coin, arhd, ordroid, some great aokp/aosp development going on and venom att. (Venom intl is around the corner)
Add to that some great kernel development already in place.
We already have in place a great development choice.
Quality matters more than quantity.

At first glance I fell in love with this device. Its sleek, has an amazing screen, beautiful design and very fast. Also has a okay camera (prefer my s3 way more). So whats not to love? Well after 9 days and mixing it up between devices my G now has a dead pixel, shuts off and is sluggish. I have no idea why because the phone has never been dropped or exposed to any kid of water. So needless to say I called AT&T and because I am within my 14 day period they are exchanging it even for a New Titanium Galaxy Note 2. Really wish it worked out, loved the phone. So you can catch me me back in the sammy forums for now, still might get another OG.

Cool story bro. Thanks for letting us know. Have a nice day.
No matter how good of quality a device is known for... there is always a bad batch that comes off the assembly line.
This applies to cars, phones, electronics, any consumer product...
I think that in this case, you are one of the unlucky few who got on one from the crap stack.

BUT when I called AT&T and they offered a new Titanium Note 2 as the replacement why would I decline it. Especially if it dsent cost me anything. Like saying " I'm sorry sir that your new Honda Accord is a lemon, would you like this new Corvette for the replacement". Who is going to say no. Not only that but I wanted the note 2, havent had one before. And for the smartass who said " look at all his devices" If you had know that a majority of the android phones were bought and donated to the developers of those devices and that I am sorry I can afford to get the new phones when they come out. Get off my nuts bro dont be jeleous.

Definitely not "jeleous" about your English vocabulary.
Have fun in the Samsung forums with your ohsoridiculous amount of money. Hope you find less things to complain about with the Note 2 instead of making pointless posts on their subforum as well.
So they replaced a $100 contract phone with a $300 contract phone? Also, not jealous about the devices you have and have had as well as on your nuts about it, as it was a simple statement, that was a nervous assumption on your own, because you're in a corner defending yourself. I'm having fun feeding you as well, due to you being an obvious troll since you've provided nothing informative by making this topic.
Ye best start believin' in troll threads... Yer in one.

I have the Note 2 and the OG and I have to say the Note 2 is not as nice as the OG.
Only plus side is that it will have much more development support.
LG Optimus G E971
I just sold it, that's it I got tired of waiting for the devs's this phone is top, but will never get support because of LG stupid way of handling advertisements.
They make the phone and its like they don't want to sell it. Stupid LG will never buy form them.

That's why I still have my SGS2. I get to flash like crazy when I get the itch, plus, have an awesome backup in case something happens to this.

HTC confirms One X+ not getting anymore updates
Not for nothing but HTC always has excuses for why they no longer support older devices.
Excuses are like a--holes. Everyone has one and they all stink.
As much as I like the HTC Sense, their lack of supporting old hardware is becoming a major gripe.
If I wanted lack of support for older devices and being forced to spend money on upgrading to a new device, I would switch to Apple.
This is complete BS!
I absolutely agree. My last 5 devices have been HTC but my next one won't be.
XDA-developers has provided HTC with a lot of support over the years by devs willing to spend their own time developing roms, kernels, apps etc that have extended the life of HTC devices and made them better to use. I have stuck with HTC pretty much because the people on this forum would help make my device better. To mind HTC owes this forum a lot. How about we organise a collective response to HTC from One X+ users?

Ever heard the term fall upon deaf ears. That is exactly what would come out of it.
There was a collective response when they stopped supporting Desire HD.
Did HTC care? Nope. They just want you, the consumer, to spend more money and buy another HTC to help the ailing company.
HTC Sense has some really great features but it is not worth having to spend money every year and a half to buy a new phone in order to receive the latest OS.
HTC blames nVidia for the lack of support. Interesting how the Nexus 7 with nVidia already has fully support for KitKat.
HTC, if you lie to us at least have some truth to your lie!
@saitch76 I am on the same boat as you. My last 3 devices have been HTC and always the same story. After about a year and a half of the phone coming out, HTC always came up with an excuse as to why the device will no longer receive further updates.
Galaxy S5 here I come?
I suspect HTC is hoping users will react with hopelessness as you have described and think there is no point complaining. HTC is in a very different position now compared with the Desire HD days and there is a real chance that they won't exist in a few years. Apple is having to learn that it is unrealistic to expect users to fork out for a new top of the range device every other year. Hence the iPhone 5C. It's an attempt to stop it's customer base defecting to Android (Samsung) devices by giving them them a cheaper route to the latest OS. HTC don't have the monopoly on Android that Apple has on iOS and Samsung has a device for every budget. HTC's only hope is to hold onto their existing customers, particularly the loyal HTC enthusiasts. Nokia and BlackBerry are good examples of what happens when customers are neglected and I hope HTC has taken note. I would much rather be proactive and communicate how unhappy I am, and we are, (there is strength in numbers) than be passive and complain that HTC didn't come knocking on my door to ask what I want. IMO it's not really about the One X+ and KitKat, it's about informing HTC about their longer term strategy for device support. I will only buy another HTC device in the condition that HTC commits to supporting it for longer than 18months. I want HTC to be crystal clear on that. if they can't commit to that then I won't buy another HTC device. If 100 or 500 or 2000 One X+ users communicate that to them then they would be more than foolish not to take notice.

I am unable to say that I disagree with you.
HTC most likely does expect people to keep mum about it.
When I first heard that the support was ending for the HTC Incredible I said, "Eh, it was a weak phone and phones are on the rise and getting stronger."
I then went to unlocked phones because I was working abroad. The Desire HD was their flagship and an incredibly popular phone. The forums were tagged with roms. Every week a new rom was born. Shortly after HTC released the Sensation, they stated that Desire HD will no longer receive updates.
Lucky me for not jumping to Sensation because as soon as the One X was released, Sensation lost support. That was followed by the One X+.
HTC put all their efforts on updating the One X+ and said the One X will get updates eventually. (I could keep going but you get the point.)
The HTC One is an amazing phone but the One X+ is still holding strong and could manage anything you throw at it.
I agree with everything you said. HTC once held the market a long time ago, as did Nokia and BlackBerry. The problems with Nokia and Blackberry is that they decided to stick to their own OS or partner up with an OS no one uses.
Apple still has their fanbase. People who like iPhones will continue to buy them every year or two, and Apple is very much aware of that.
HTC on the other hand, does not have that much of a fan base anymore. HTC must think they are the only game in town. Unfortunately for them, they are not. With the likes of Samsung surpassing them a long time ago, HTC has lost a huge market share and their stocks are their to prove it. Quarter after quarter their financial records are showing a loss in the billions.
You are right it is not about the One X+ and KitKat, it is about their lack of support. Every 18 months it does very much feel like HTC is pushing you to buy a new phone. My wife's Samsung S3 is now running Android 4.3 with 4.4 on the verge. That phone came out before the One X+ and Samsung is supporting it like a champion. Samsung knows treat your customers right and they will be back. Apparently, HTC expects their customers to keep coming back because their phones look nice. Samsung is currently still using plastic but I have a feeling that they will realize it is time to move to unibody metal. Samsung stole a lot of iPhone fans and I very much see them stealing HTC fans as well.
If you really think that making a stink about it by getting the community together to complain to HTC, I am with you.
I am done with their lack of support and want them to change. Competition makes the companies try their hardest. If HTC seizes to exist, Samsung will rule the market.
Let's start getting the community together and let's complain to HTC.
This ain't over!
What is the best route to do this? I suggested posts on their Twitter and Facebook pages, but they'll just hide them, or give the standard response.
@TeK9samurai I think you are absolutely correct. I'm thinking about setting up a Survey Monkey survey for One X+ users to get some data to send HTC. Questions could include how long users have had their One X+, how many HTC devices they have owned, how many OS updates they have received, how important the latest OS is for users, how long users think a device should be supported for, how likely users are to buy another HTC device, how users feel about the decision not to provide an update to KitKat, how users feel in general regarding HTC's OS update track record, how many users install custom roms in order to update the OS, how likely would users be to buy an HTC device if OS updates via custom roms were not available.
Any thoughts?

All sounds great, I think the questions about custom roms should be left out.
If you open the door to questions like that, you will get answers that don't help your cause.

Unfortunately, most likely what would happen.
Another course of action needs to be taken.

There is nothing you can do.
No matter how many petitions you make or spamming their Facebook/email/inbox won't make a shed of difference.
I suggest you just live with it, like the rest of us have to and all the devices that had to prior to the X/X+

Just living with it is exactly what HTC will hope for. It's not in my nature not to do that. Passivity achieves nothing.

I agree. Just acceping and moving on does nothing. We've done in the past with numerous HTC devices, and we always thought HTC understood and wanted to change.
It's like they keep updating the One now, but ofter the One successor comes along, the One will be forgotten.

ALL u can do is get a different phone next. they will not change this decision. i had inspire 4g/ desire hd, and had the same problem but i didnt stop buying their phones, i just like sense and their harware. that doesnt mean they are doing a good job, at the end of the day phone does same things for me as any current flagship. i will make sure i never get a tegra device no more because u cant get all the goodies on this devices that xda can offer. my 2 cents.
Guys , in may 2014 the HTC one community will be in our same situation today ,14 month old device ,let see if they will stop there too, from my experience HTC thinks xda customers don't represent 1% of their customers ,so it's easy for HTC tho move on and forget about us , even HTC elevate people get nowhere

Neither will I. I got screwed in the ass figuratively with Motorola's Photon 4G but this is worse. A 14 month old phone IS NOT OLD. I bought my One X+ the day AT&T released it in November 2012, in fact the sales guy at the store had to look for it in back as it just arrived in stock.
I realize the phone has been out internationally since they dropped the ball with LTE support but I feel ripped off and misled. BTW it was slow as molasses opening apps with 4.1, the custom ROM based on 4.2 I installed (after rooting it which is a must) is faster but not by much.
But you see, that's the point. Who in their right mind thinks 14 months is enough for a phone. I wish I had the money to spend so I could get a new phone every year. This is complete bs that a company decides you should get a new phone because they are no longer supporting it.
By the way Tegra chips have nothing to do with it. If they did, why does the Nexus 7 have 4.4?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk
Whenever anyone of us say that about the Nexus 7, someone says that the Nexus uses a different version of the Tegra 3, and that ours is unsupported, not that one.
Nexus 7: Tegra 3 T30L (Q1 2012)
One X: Tegra 3 AP33 (Q4 2011)
One X+: Tegra 3 T33 or AP37 (Q2 2012)
