Greetings all!
I have done a lot of searches about this, and all the forum post either run dead or get solutions that does not work for me. I finally decided to see if anyone can help me here. I have the Galaxy S2 GT-I9100.
My problem is wakelocks called suspend_backoff and mmc1_detect (and some other, but those two have been persistent).
I have tried a LOT of options.
-Change rom: Used to have the stock rom 4.1.2, now I have the NeatRom Lite, both giving me the same problem.
-I have done a factory reset.
-I have taken out the battery, waited a bit and put the battery back.
-I do not have chrome on my phone (just the stock internet browser, and it does not have the tilt option)
-I have installed Rescan Media Root for in-case it is that.
-Set my phone on static IP.
-Set wifi to "Never" when sleep.
-Someone suggested that the network constantly sends data to the phone or ping it. So far I have not find anything like that (one reason being that all the computers are off at night) and in the router settings I can't find anything that would be causing this.
.....
[Will add more as I remember what else I have tried]
My phone is currently at 60% battery... it will probably be at 20% in the morning, if I am lucky.
Do anyone know anything else I can try? Maybe something with the network? I am running out of options and really getting annoyed with this problem... my phone has basically become a paper weight currently.
Please let me know if there is more info I should post.
Attached is an image of wakelocks I got with GSam Battery Monitor... Wakelock Detector shows the same.
Still no luck
Well I still not having any luck. Have had my phone off for a day now as there has been no use putting it on just for it to die soon again.... or keep it on charge all the time. :crying:
Anyone has any idea what else I can try. Seems like a lot of people is affected by these wake locks, but no solution has helped me so far.
Install BetterBatteryStats (search for it on here/Google Play), let the phone run for a couple of hours, then find the BetterBatteryStats thread on here & post to it/post your logs. People who hang around that thread should be able to help you.

I was pissed off as my phone lost all the juice over the night and didnt have time for filling it in the morning as i have to go to my job. Also i am a privacy freak and from obvious reasons i dont like google apps, same goes for gmail (as i am using exchange server i dont need all the sync stuff there) which was my initial reason for preventing the application to start - i dont use ANYTHING releated to google/market and i dont have any account there, i never used it.
On rooted phone I started to prevent starting everything related to google and DRM, market etc. (autostarts https://market.android.com/details?id=com.elsdoerfer.android.autostarts):
- DRM*
- Factory Test*
- com.google.*
(i think this was all, i'll recheck if there was something else)
And guess what. The battery drain over the night is now around 2% and the phone is quite able to survive 2 days (not completely accurate as i had it connected to computer for 10 minutes in between to pump some files from it), after the second night i still had 12% of battery left.
If someone else is able to repeat that, please report the results and if someone is able to figure out which app exactly is draining the battery even batter.
One thing i dont really understand is what are those apps doing during the night, there is no reason to contact any of google services as i dont have any account entered, so wtf are they doing?!
To ROM cookers, please stop adding google apps by default, make them as package to be installed later if you wish.
I do not have any communication or at least there should be none over 3g (droidwall) and i dont want to kill aplications just to have peacefull sleep. I was searching for final solution and i have found it.
One solution is to switch off wifi and data connection in night and sure you will have better battery drainage.
Not entirely related but just a heads up for people, last night i downloaded that Getjar app and it decimated my battery overnight so i uninstalled it this morning.
I assume most on here know about https://market.android.com/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats&hl=en this is the best app you can get when it comes to preventing battery drain (tells you exactly what is draining your battery)
seems getjar is eating away at the battery, dont understand why it needs to do that !
Go to the task manager and kill all running tasks, then clear ur RAM before going to sleep @ night.
I loose like 1-2%
Send from my Samsung Galaxy S II

If it is a night issue, try turning the display ON before unplugging the charging cord. I have used this method and the battery stays at 100% all night long.
Hi everyone,
I've done very much try and erroring to find out which app is draining my battery and if it's really neccessary.
As you can see on the attachment, it looks really nice already. The only thing which drives me crazy are those long and often "Aktiv" (Awake) parts. I couldn't find any information on the SDK pages.
My Phone seems to be very often Awake while in standby. I can't understand why it has to wake up that often. Am I right, that this "Awake" means, that the cpu is running (not in sleep mode)?
Is there any way to log which software is waking the device up?
Greetings
Chris
Yep, "awake" means that cpu is running. Try Badass Battery Monitor, it has a list called AppSucker, that lists the apps by battery consumption
Thanks. That is exacly what I was looking for.
Now I'm still sure, that there is somethink wrong with the battery consumtion. As you can see on the attachment, "Android-System" takes 2 hours(!) for some stupid things.
These are the datas for one night (it was a short one ) The phone wasn't used at all. Is that normal? I mean, thats nearly 30% of the time. Okay, the total capacity loss seems okey, but the phone hast absolutly nothing to do. Except for some interrupts of from the baseband and some cronjobs maybe. But that doesn't need 2 hours.
Any suggestions what courses these long awake times? Or another way to debug this?
Thanks
Chris
Android-system, huh? Seems like you have a wrong config, or a service is keeping awake the CPU...
Sorry, I dunno other way to debug it, but you already tried to calibrate your battery? (let that your battery runs out, charge it fully and, without unplug the charger, go to Recovery >Advanced >wipe battery stats. Unplug and reboot).
Yep, that was the first ding I did.
I'm running IceColdSandwich - 7.4 - AOKP STRIPPER EDITION. Maybe this is some kind of bug.
Maybe someone have another idea how I can debug this. Nevertheless thanks for helping.
You should check to see if Sync is turned on. This will cause the phone to wake up to contact any accounts you have set up to sync... I would suggest setting sync to off unless wifi is available.
On my rom (Gingerbread base) the wifi is turned of when the screen is off, which will make sure that google will never try to sync while the phone is idle.. The downside you will have to wake the phone in order to receive emails and stuff via wifi, and if not on wifi you will have to check your email manually.
I think I found it. Badass Battery Monitor showed that "Google Backup Transport" is part of Android-System, so I removed it. I didn't use it anyway.
My phone is not crashing, I still runs smoothly. The keep-awake time shrinked to 30m during 7h (including short uses). That seems totally legit for me.
Thanks for helping
Chris
I use CPUspy to see what's going on at processor. I can't see deep sleep and my battery dies in a very short time period.
I have stock ics 4.0.4 XXLQ6 and I didn't root my device. As I asked, how can I fix this problem?
Thanks.
Turn off auto-sync on every app; if you want to check mail/FB/Twitter/whatever, do it manually. Turn off data when you're not using it. Tho WiFi uses a lot less juice than data, turn that off too when you're not using it.
Unless you root your phone, that's about it. There are probably apps you can freeze that might help things, but you won't be able to do that unless you root.
Read the BBS thread, lots of ideas there. You may as well install BBS, the logs should give you an idea of exactly what's causing wakelocks which are killing your battery. If it's mostly stuff syncing, then you might be able to get a handle on it. If it's stuff that needs freezing, again, you won't be able to do that unless you root your phone.
**my mistake, can someone move this to the AT&T forum?**
Hi there, I have this problem; my AT&T GS4 does not use the deep sleep state. I have made some research, and from what I understood, this problem has to be a result of any program that keeps triggering the phone to get awake.
So, I have the phone unlocked, rooted and ALL the sensors off, expect from gsm signal. With titanium back I have uninstalled the programs that I´ll never gonna use (mostly AT&T bloadware) and frozen the ones that I don’t want to use right know, but maybe by deleting them I would get into a problem (like S-Voice) or just because some day I would like to give them a try. Finally, there are the programs that I would like to keep, but I don’t want to let them make any cpu use while I am not using them. I used an application called Greenyfi, a good example of why this program is the best for the last propose, is the use of programs like google maps, in where I do want to use it, but, just when I open the app. Also, I used the app “Autostarts” to prevent applications to start after some events (like startup, state change, etc..)
With all that been said, I am steel not getting deep sleep, in any situation. I´am not saying that my battery life is bad, I think I can get easily 4-5 screen time use. But, by not getting into deep sleep, the phone is allways using the cpu at 384mhz, so the battery goes down in a range of 1.5 to 2 % per hour (10 hours of no use and 20% less battery).
SO, for you to see the problem better. I did a little experiment. Restart the phone, put it into flight mode and let it “sleep” for the night, the results are attached.
PD: Whatsapp isn’t the problem; I can froze it and still 0% deep sleep.
did you ever solve this.. my t mobile s4 is not going into deep sleep staying at 384mhz
Had this problem a while ago. Ran Greenify and froze things with TiBu but the phone didn't go into deep sleep. I ended up flashing back to stock then re rooted. Problem solved.
same here. reset didn't work.. flashing back to stock didn't work, flashing stock and then a reset worked.. and reinstalled everything and still going into deep sleep now.. now sure what it was, but something in system was ffd up.
Greetings,
I had been using my Xperia Neo V with Cyanogenmod 10 (10-20130519-NIGHTLY-haida) for the last 2 months. It was all ponies and rainbows for me for the first 6-7 weeks.
Issue:
Now I'm facing with a random and ridiculous overnight battery drain issue since a week ago. Ridiculousness here is being referred to the amount of the drain (almost 60% overnight) and to the fact that there's no particular change of use of the phone by me,comparing with the days before. As you can see in the screenshots, the main actor here is "Operating System". I don't really know what this drain is related to, so I was not able to do comparisons of use.
Facts:
-Mobile Data was active but only at 2G
-Location services were off
-Bluetooth and all other possible signals were off
-No active apps, all were hibernated with Greenify
What might be the reason of this problem and what would you advice me to try?
Thanks in advance.
what kernel are you using? overclocked?
maybe you can try re-flash the rom
60% overnight is way high battery drain
You should try to see a pattern. Does it happen after specific usage "ritual" or just purely random?
It may be kernel bug/core system bug. Try dumping dmesg and logcat when it happen next.
I would start by trying to flash other kernel.
Install BetterBatteryStats (ther's an SDA thread); It will give you better info of what is draining your battery. In addition to that, you can post your logs in the thread (BBS thread) and they will provide better help.
Good luck
Edit: here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Install wakelock detector app uninstall those... Try greenify too
Firstly we have to know what kernel are you using...
2.6.32.9 or 3.x.x version?
Hi there all, thank you for replies, and here are some extra info;
Fresh facts:
- Kernel: 2.6.32.9-FXP [email protected] #1
- Not overclocked
New observations:
So far I don't see any pattern as to what could possibly be the reason for this issue.
The last time I faced with this, the phone was fully charged and on 2G mode I left it on my desk (my wi-fi router was located next to it, keep it in mind so that it might be a clue coinciding with the BetterBattery logs I will reveal next) and after 3 hours, when I went to check if there were any calls, nearly 30% was drained. Comparing with the initial drain issue (which is a 60'ish% drain overnight) I can say it's the same issue within a proportionate period.
Well takin' a quick look at the BetterBatteryStatus report, drain was mainly caused by some wake thingy called "rx_wake". I don't really know much about all these wake calls in Android system but I googled it and reached to a brief conclusion that it's somehow related with Wi-fi connection. So I'm suspicious that maybe my Android system is perpetually sending wake calls related to a Wi-fi signal even when the Wi-fi mode is off on my phone (only relation I could make here is that I left the phone next to my wi-fi router)
I attach the screenshot and BetterBatteryStatus logs to this post, thanks in advance for your further comments.
Further comments, anyone?
Post the logs in BBS thread. There people has more knowledge and they can help you.
Issue Solved on Galaxy S - Will fit all I assume
Hi
I face the same issue from the day I install the ROM (CM 10.1.2)
I browse the Internet and found the issue
The issue is Wi-Fi and mobile network location
When it is on in this version it turn on the Wi-Fi not only on GPS request and No GPS status
You need to shout it down and issue solved
To change this setting:
System Settings -> Location access and disable the "Wi-Fi mobile network location"
