You didn't give us any information to help you.
What ROM are you on? CM11, CM10.2, CyanFox, SlimKat, Stock Sense 4+, 5.0, 5.5 maybe, the list goes on and on.
All is tweakable on Viper, if you like sense ROMs. On the others, each one is different.
What did you expect with your vague question?
I am on stock DNA rom Sense 5.0, Android 4.2.2

Well, if you like sense roms and your phone is rooted S-Off, I strongly recommend Viper 2.5.0.
It's based off 4.2.2 Sense 5.0 and everything can be tweaked, including but not limited to, the status bar icons.
Give it a try. I think you'll like it. :good:
S -off is Off. I'll give DNA a shot
Where is the update file there are over 500 pages on the rom??

What icons are you looking to change? You could simply pull SystemUI.apk from your device, swap in the new icon images (using something like 7zip) and replace it back on your device. No need to flash an entire new rom

Found the SystemUI.apk folder but can't seem to find the icons, i am looking for. Want to delete the status bar background and change the stock battery, wifi, signal. clock ect..
PS: I am a newbie at this

Installing a whole new rom is going to be easier and safer than modifying files of your current rom
This is true but being a novice I can't seem to get it right. Soft brick phone and have to restore back up. Tried Viper Rom and I don't know if its normal but take about 1 + minute to boot up. When I 1st did it it got stuck on the boot screen. Some how got out of there. Did a complete wipe and yet all my previous files were on folder on the SD card named "O". None of my paid apps worked. I used Viper DNA 1.3.5. I wish there were better instructions for us dummies!!

That is VERY cool !
Is the output applicable for any ROM ? Damn, only HTC Legend build 26 or 29 ROM.
For any other ROM we need to provide the site with the framework-res.apk file from our ROM (I am using Azure).
So? You upload your framework-res.apk and download updated one...

I know, it sounds so straightforward - no idea how I can extract my framework-res.apk from my Azure ROM - I'll read around...
Unzip that file U flashed (Azure ROM) and find it there.

Excellent, thanks for the tip!
I was under the impression it was a case of extracting it with some ugly command line work (which is fine, though as I've just moved to OSX, terminal syntax is all new to me, as is Android dev in general)
Thanks again.
Is there a reason whenever I flash this MOD onto my EVO it always has a roaming indicator on? I flashed the latest CM6 nightly and it didn't say that. I flashed the ROM, it did. I nandroid'd back, it went away. I flashed the .zip with the boot animation and it came back.
Anyone else having this issue or an idea how to get rid of it?

I have been looking around at various icon packs but have only been able to use them to change icons on my home screen, in the app drawer they remain unchanged. Are there any icon packs I can flash over to replace everything, if possible, or a way to change icons on the home screen and app drawer using only my phone (p509)? I have searched but have yet to find anything helpfull. Thanks.

I just took a look at your ROM, seems like the perfect one for me. I don't exactly know how I missed it. Though if I read correctly I am unable to flash using AmonRa 2.2.1?
Yes you can flash with amonRa 2.2.1

Awesome ROM! Just flashed it and so far so good. Took me a little while since everything I do (Root,Recovery,Backup,ROMS,Ect) has to be done without the help of a computer. I just hate getting 98% done with a download and I have to start over because it fails.
I would like to transfer the theme from one rom to another. I will be transferring Scott's Developer edition theme from his Cleanrom Developer edition to a stock deodex'd rom. Is there any way to do this? I have little experience with themeing roms but I can follow directions pretty good.
isn't cleanrom pretty much a stock rom?

it can be as simple as pushing the specific apps into your phone but it isnt most of the time...
devs make loads of modifications and such so usually isnt as simple
but id suggest you check out tutorials about themeing and the intro to themeing thread

call me crazy but I *think* the blue theme from the dev edition is actually a skin defaulted by the ROM, called blu bugaloo or something? see if there's an apk in /system/app for that ROM, put it into the same place for the ROM you want, it should just show up in your skin options, apply it? you could also ask scott, he's a good dev and quite helpful

Yes that theme file is part of it but I dont think it changes everything. I have asked Scott and he has been helping me quite a bit, but I don't want to bug him either . He told me to ask on his forum too but I already had this topic open...

the skin is basically fusion.apk, to get any other themed items from a ROM, you could pull out these and use them in your new ROM:
/system/app/SystemUI.apk
/system/app/Rosie.apk
/system/framework/framework-res.apk
/system/framework/htc.resources.apk
/system/app/dialer.apk (only if the dialer is themed)
/system/app/phone.apk (same ^^^)

This has worked for everything but the GPS icon. The icon is still stock and visible even when disabled. Scott's rom has replaced the GPS icon and made it invisible when GPS was turned off. Any ideas?
you can replace the gps on icon with one that has been made transparent, but without being able to use pc at the moment cant tell you where its at. i think in either systemui or framework-res

I tried copying the systemui from Scott's rom to the stock rom and flashing it, but it doesn't make a difference. I verified that the same images from Scott's rom are in the rom I just flashed, as I can view them with root explorer. It still shows stock though.
The three custom image files for the gps icon in scotts rom are:
stat_sys_gps_acquiring
stat_sys_gps_acquiring1
stat_sys_gps_acquiring2
However, the rom is ignoring these files and instead using:
sym_gpsone_0_sprint
sym_gpsone_3_sprint
sym_gpsone_0_vzw
These three files are the stock white sense crosshair icons.
This is a view of the files from SystemUI.apk res\drawable-hdpi
The three blue icons are the ones I want to use.
That was small, here is a bigger version:

if you have 7zip you can open the apk with the images you want, copy them to your desktop, rename them to the name the new rom uses, then paste or drag them into the new apk (opened with 7zip), by the way, I think/hope you're off one png name, no way is a sprint rom using a vzw png lol
I was wrong, it is only using two files:
sym_gpsone_0_sprint
sym_gpsone_3_sprint
One is GPS active and one is GPS off.
I dont think renaming it is the issue. I have tried copying the entire systemUI.apk folder from Scott's rom over to the stock rom, and it still does the same thing. The default icons are also present in Scott's rom, just not used.
My next question is, what file (XML file?) references these files?

-trust me, pull the 3 images you want out of his sysUI using 7zip
-rename from stat_blah_acquire_0
to sym_sprint_gps_blah_0
-repeat steps for other pngs
-open up new rom sysui with 7zip
-paste in renamed pngs
-push modded apk to phone or flash it
Hi Guys
The stock ROM that come with the Verizon DNA, is it deodexed or not?
Thanks
No, but you are able to disable the apps. So it helps, if you don't want to root.

Correct. Most (if not all) factory default roms are odexed. As for installing a custom rom, I'd look at Supercharged Hatka if you want a stock look with tweaks. If you want an AOSP looking rom, go to Battery Plus (Something along the lines of that... Forgot the exact name)
Although once CM10 is working fully, I'd 100% recommend that to anyone!

I would also take a look at Viper if you like to get into deep customization of your phone. Lots of fun stuff to play with in that ROM.

Are you rooted and running a custom ROM? If yes, simply flash back your ROM without wiping, you will keep all your settings, personal DATA and preferences. Take 5 minutes to do.
Nope, still stock ROM! I"d like to leave stock ROM, if its possibloe to fix it?
I"m total beginner in this case, i never flash anything before. so now i will know that allways need BACKUP.
If your are on stock ROM, you are left with less option. Backup what you can and Reset to factory default would be the easy choice. Sorry. Backup all your virtual SD before doing so.
Then i will try to ROOT and flash custom ROM!
Thanks a lot for help!!:good:
If you are rooting, your phone will completely be wiped, even your SD card. If you need help don't hesitate!
You always hold the home button to pull up search and enter any app.
Problem sorted. ARHD 6.5 flashed and lyapota mod added. Better than stock.:victory:
