One of the first accessories I like to buy for any new device I get is a replacement (fits in OEM silo) Pen stylus. I know the Touch Cruise is new, but has anyone seen any stylii that are pens and fit in the device?
TIA!
Hi - the TC comes with a spare or Expansys(UK) are selling some here:
http://www.expansys.com/a.aspx?i=159608&atype=Stylii
Though showing estimate delivery of 9 days from today...
Thanks for the reply. However, I am looking for a combination pen-stylus that fits into the existing silo slot of the Cruise. The link you provided was for stock replacement stylus which is not a pen.
Oops. Sorry. Will post again if I find what you need.
doubt you will find one, the size of the stylus on the touch cruise would surely be too small to fit a combination pen/stylus

Is such a stylus available for the Artemis? If so then it would NOT fit the Touch Cruise because the bit of black plastic at the end is a different shape but it would demonstrate that such a thing is possible because the overall dimensions of the two styli are identical. (I just slid my Artemis stylus into my Touch cruise and the diameter fits perfectly, the overall lengths are identical, and the only reason the Artemis stylus won't push fully into the TC is because the plastic bit at the end is longer relative to the overall stylus length compared to the TC stylus so it fouls the edge just at the last 5mm or so of travel into the device.)

haven't got mine at the moment but how thick is the stylus? 2mm, cant see how a mechanism for a 3 in 1 would fit in such a size

Definitely bigger than 2mm. I just held it up against a tape measure and the diameter looks to be just a shade over 3mm, probably about 3.2mm.

still think its not thick enough even at 4 mm, have you ever seen anything like this that is less than 1cm+

I have gotten (in the past) a 3-in-1 for every device I have had except for the collapsible KJAM stylus. One will become available for the Polaris. The stylus is not that much different from other devices.
Re my previous message, this will almost certainly NOT fully push home into the receiver on a TC (because of the different profile of the black plastic thing on the end) but it IS an existence proof that such a device is possible within the form factor of a TC stylus.

That's what we need. I am sure some US distributors will pick this up soon. HTC just needs to get the damn device out there in more quantities.
They will deliver to the us but it wont be cheap, probably about $60

Ouch. I love my pen-stylus combo's but not for 60 bucks. I'll wait 'til a US distributor comes along.
If i see anything ill let you know, am i right in thinking that the Polaris stylus is the same as the orbit 2 stylus
that looks sweet...can't wait for it to be avail. in the US!
i'm sure by this summer when the TC starts to become more popular over here we will start seeing alot cooler accessories for it.
It's just a matter of time...the waiting game def. sucks tho

If an Orbit 2 stylus is the same as an Orbit 1 then no, the Polaris stylus will not push home fully into the Orbit housing. Read my previous posts in this thread (including the one on page 1 of the thread) for details. If Orbit 2 stylus is different to Orbit 1 then I don't know.

Wow I love that!
Hi all,
Pretty simple request here. I'm looking for a stylus pen that I can use with my Transformer. That is, a pen, with a rubber - or whatever it is - bit at the top, so that I can flip the pen around and tap away.
Reason is, 99% of the time, I have one or more pens in my pocket for college, so I'd like to have the option to use them as styli(?) as well.
Sounds simple, but I haven't had much luck in finding one. Main thing here is price. I want them to be cheap enough that I could order a few and loose one without caring too much. (~$3-4 each)
No-one has looked into this before? I can't be the only one out there interested.
Here you go-

Hey, been thinking of buying a few of these, seems to be perfect. Take a look around the site though, that have some 2 in 1 types thats double as an actual pen, and smaller ones that can hang from the headphone jack. Keep in mind it will take a few weeks for the order to get to you, but it will be worth the wait.
I have bought some neat stuff from them before, you get what you pay for but the stylus above looks to be a great deal.
Edit:
Found that 2 in 1, a little more expensive but is what you actually wanted.
I never even thought of looking on DX... Thanks very much!

I made my own using the foam that the IC chips are on...i found none on the market that suited me. Just look at you tube for DIY pen stylus...it worked out okay.
Thanks for mentioning DX, never thought to check there either. Ordered one to see how it is, hopefully I'll receive it before Christmas!
just ordered this one

Just want to say that all the replacement Wacom pens i've purchased for my Asus EP121 tablet (12.1" Windows 7 Tablet with Capacative/Wacom input like the Note) work just fine on the note And much more comfortable to use than the S-Pen (haven't tried with the holder)
The three i've tested are the stock pen that comes with EP121, the Axiotron Studio, and the Axiotron Digitizer. Picked them up from here: http://www.nationwidesurplus.com/casearch.aspx?SearchTerm=wacom+pen with a 10% discount or so from a coupon code a few months back.
This is going to make it even harder not to carry my tablet with the note since I can tether the tablet to it..
I think any "Wacom Penenabled" pen will work with the device. I've noticed that so far that the eraser works, but the 2nd button does not.
do you know if the pressure sensitivity is more accurate with the wacom pens? The s-pen (at least mine) has almost no travel, seems like off and on.

I didn't even think about this possibility. I have a similar HP laptop with the touch and pen. Forget which model exactly, I have a new laptop now. However, if the pen works with the note when I get it, I'm going to constantly carry it with me unless I'm wearing basketball shorts or sweatpants, as the pen that came with my laptop is a great size and has some weight to it. Thanks for reminding me!

i noticed last week that the wacom stylus for my Fujitsu T4220 works on the Note. i agree with OP, sounds like all wacom stylus' will work with the Note.
and yes, pressure sensitivity is noticed on the Note by this wacom stylus from my Fujitsu...so they probably all do that.
All my thinkpad tablet pens work.

Wacom Intuos4 stylii also don't work on the Note, ah well.

Anybody considering buying a high quality wacom pen? I think if I end up using the S Pen enough that I could see myself buying this:

Yeah that pen wont work you have to use a pen that works with a Wacom pennable display. These are specific pens that are designed for integrated tablet options. Try looking at IBM pens fore the x61 and above machines. they are all over Ebay and cheap about 15 - 20 dollars a pen. I'm sitting here in a room full of Intuos 3 and 4 pens and none of them actually work on my note, they are not compatible.
I Just tried a friends Cintiq pen, and it did not work on my note. Also tried the pen that came with my first generation 5" wacom tablet it also did not work; did try a pen off a random HP pen tablet in the office and that does work. Not sure what the differences in pen technology are, but obviously there are some.
-Josh
There is a difference in many generations of Wacom pen tech. In my tests all of the Penabled styluses have worked very well. so it seems a good rule of thumb here when considering a higher quality stylus is if its a stylus designed for a Wacom branded product. Or a stylus for a 3rd party product that happens to use Wacom Technology. no first party products have worked in my tests and all 3rd party ones have. Currently I am using the stylus from the Samsung 7 series tablet. Eraser works, button works , a noticeable increase in pressure accuracy and above all else its better shielded to prevent the auto-pressing bug many are facing with the S-pen. I'd be shocked if Samsung doesn't try to market a "S-pen pro" device in the near future.
I purchased my 7 series tablet pen from amazon for about 30 bucks.

REALLY the slate's pen works?? I carry my slate pen everywere in my pocket ready to use on my slate, but i went to a best buy and decided to try my stylus on the note that i saw on display it didn't work =\ , I really hope it really does work because this will be great. But i do have the developers version of the slate, doubt that should make a difference. My note comes in a few days..cross my fingers!
Also for others interested the great thing about the Samsung Slate Stylus is that it has a penclip so i easily clip it to the inside of my pocket and not worry about it falling out.
Wacom "Penabled" pens work, which you'll usually find with tablet PCs. Confirmed with the pen from my Thinkpad X60.
Wacom's regular line of pens, such as from the Bamboo, or the Intuos, do not work.
Note that even the eraser on my Thinkpad pen worked in the Memo app! Very cool.
As a cheaper alternative to the Samsung digitizer pen (for the slate). There is a company called Nationwide Surplus that sells white Axiotron digitizer pens for about $18 with free shipping. It's basically the same thing as the Samsung.
White stylus
They also sell a 3 pack of these for $50.
They sell an Axiotron Studio pen as well which includes a grip. I used to have one of these and they are very nice and comfortable, but might be overkill for the note.
I just ordered a 3-pack of the white stylus to have some stock. They come with extra nib units too. Great deal.
I purchased this one a few days ago on their site, the price was $14.

I would've loved to have gone for one of those Axiotron pens, but I'm particular about my gadgets being black.
I went and opted for this Toshiba pen. At $35 shipped, it was the cheapest black pen I could find. Those Samsung pens started at $40ish shipped, and I like how it looked thinner and more pencil-like than the Samsung.

Cool. Also, if you are in need of another at some point you can search around for a Fujitsu branded one. These pens are all basically the same. And there are deals to be had. No real reason to pay more than $20 for one of these.
I know that many of us here are looking for a desk type dock that actually will work if the Note has a thin case on it. Anyone know of any? I can't see having to take the case off and put it on every time i want to use the dock.

I'm liking the Momax so far. It's got a lip on the front, which I love, and the fit was ok. The phone is much more comfortable against my ear now, but I had to trim the inside of the case where it touches the power button. I think the international note had a little more inset on the power button, so this case was over compensating with a little bump there. Quick trim sorted it out.
Bringing this back on topic, I can say for a fact that this dock (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/220923137856?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649) which I bought prior to the Momax case, is not at all compatible. It is however a good fit without a case (not that that's any use to me now).
Curious about the doc that the OP is talking about. Definitely want to see more pics of docs with cases.
Just thought I should follow up on this now that I have the dock.
It fits great with the Momax case, and looks much better in person than I thought it would. Also the ebay seller was very good, they screwed up and sent me the wrong dock at first, but they caught the error, and shipped the right one within a day (and told me to keep the wrong dock when it got here, no charge).
I'll see if I can take a few pics in a bit.
Sorry to revive the thread, but could you put some pictures of the dock ?

I'm starting this thread because I'm interested in finding covers and cases that attach to the phone as a replacement for the backplate, thus keeping it as trim as possible. The only one I've heard of is Samsung's own original covers, but I'm hoping there'll be others.

Sorry for being the third thread on this topic. I did a search, but didn't find anything specific on backplate replacemnt cases. Did find various on wallet and flip cases. Even if Samsung is taking forever, hopefully other manufacturers will jump in. But perhaps the backcover is patented?

I've been spending ages looking for the same thing. Definitely not a patent issue. There are literally hundreds of pages of various Note 3 covers on Amazon, many of which are replacement battery doors. Problem for me is that most are window cases claiming to be "S-View", none of which actually work with the s-view functionality. If I can't get a working S-View then I'd rather not have a window at all. I'm not sure about the official Samsung cover because it looks like it makes the phone much bigger by thickening the back to extend over the camera, and I want it slim as possible.
Best options I've seen so far look to be these:
http://www.amazon.com/Practical-COV...=1384427137&sr=8-53&keywords=n9000+flip+cover
There's also this:
http://www.amazon.com/Practical-COV...84428841&sr=1-200&keywords=n9000+battery+flip
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Cover-B...1384427417&sr=8-278&keywords=n9000+flip+cover
Final interesting one is this, which is the first 3rd party case I've seen which claims to properly support S-View. Looks pretty much identical to the Samsung case though:
http://www.amazon.com/YESOO-Leather...F8&qid=1384429365&sr=8-1&keywords=n9000+yesoo
Please let me know if you turn up anything else interesting, as it sounds like we both want the same type........

Thanks for all of your suggestions.
S-View support in the case would certainly be nice, but it is not a top priority. My priorities are:
1) Back cover (battery cover) replacement, not an outer attachement.
2) Some pockets for cards and bills, actually the outer front cover could come with a foldout for more cards and bills.
3) S-View support
I have an original Note and the case has two slits for cards and a long slit for bills, but it also comes with an outer attachement cradle, and that is a little too much bulk to be really comfortable. Since the Note 3 is thinner it would be real nice to utilize that for a better case experience this time around. Hence, I'm not that particular about price, although I believe the original Samsung S-View cover is waay overpriced, I have ordered one just to establish a base line for what is available out there.
I have started to encounter vendors that lets me use the NFC for payment, but lets face it, this will take at least a decade to take hold. In the meantime I still need to carry around some credit cards and bills. Some day I can hopefully start my car and open my doors with my Note 6.
Sent from my GT-N8010 using Tapatalk 4
I ordered and received a S-View case. The backplate is removed to attach the new case, it has two connectors that will allow you to use the S-View feature and charge it with wireless Qi chargers. There are no pockets for cards or bills, but the S-View window is a usable feature, it has two windows, swipe from right to left, the first shows time, date, weather and in my case a step counter, the other is for music, action memo and camera. The material is a leather like plastic that feels sturdy enough to withstand a smaller drop (not planning on testing that) and an added benefit is that the Note will fit in Samsung's multimedia dock with the covert attached.
Hopefully, third party vendors will come out with even more usable covers over time.
