Screencasting and rooting problem - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I got the netgear screencasting gizmo. and it don't work.
I tried a bunch of devices they all connect but then disconnect. I determined its likely that I am rooted (not optional so unrooting is never going to be an option)
I determined this because the only 2 devices that will work (unrooted s3's) are unrooted. every rooted device fails.
this is BS and should be illegal for them to do this. SO how do I get around it?
either software or hardware solution to getting around this immoral and in my opinion illegal restriction.?
is there a device out their without this crippling built into it? maybe hacked firmware for one of them or something?

See link below; I kind of dig that you're frustrated, but there are solutions out there, most of them provided by the very devs that enabled you to root your device in the first place...

I've seen someone use the Netgear Push2Tv with a Nexus 7. Do you know if it would work with CM11?

No solution for note 3 yet
The push2tv is what I have and it works only on unrooted devices. My note 2 3 and rooted s3's all do the same thing. Connect but no mirror then it disconnects

You should be able to use the Xposed patch library file in the link on your S3 ( libwfd_engine.so).
Don't know which file it is for the Note 3.

I have the same problem and have been looking for an answer. I have seen some fixes for the S3 and Note 2 but not the note 3. I have a Tronsmart 1000 and I have been trying to get the mirroring to work. The EZ Cast program works but I need the mirroring to work. If you find any more information please post it here and I will do the same.
Cheers!

The answer for your S3 is just a few posts above you. It's a patched library file using an Xposed module.

Not true. The file to be patched does not exist in our version of the note 3.

I limited my answer from the jump to the Note 3. After reading my comments, I may have been unclear on that metric. However, if you read the posts I've made in this thread, they've all stated overtly that the Xposed app to which I linked will work for the S3, and not for the Note 3.
Sent from my SM-N900P using Xparent BlueTapatalk 2

this is crap that they do this. what is the logic or reasoning for doing this and why is it legal?

Thank you micmars. I will go back and see if I can figure it out. Your help is appreciated.

I have gone through both threads and I do not see any solutions for the note 3. The patch is for the note 2. I have gone through all of xposed and nothing there either. I give up for now.

Yup. I was specifically saying only that a solution existed for your S3 and perhaps others here whom may have a Note 2.
But...that library file must have its counterpart for our phone under a different name, or that library file resides elsewhere from system, library, as those files are everywhere, not only in system (look at Google Now for the quick search box, for just one example, it has two in /data).

I know with the official Samsung Allshare cast module you have to be on a stock kernel. I would say to try that. I am on Jellybomb 3.2 and screen mirroring works perfectly.

I was wondering that. I know the toggle is there, but I don't use the feature. Perhaps Josh's awesome mash-up could provide the fix.

Rooting is not the problem flashing a custom kernel is. I use showbox.netflix and nba league pass Mobile daily on my rooted note 3 using the all share cast dongle. Hope this helps.

I am NOT running custom kernels only rooted
I can cast such as to Chrome cast fine its screen mirroring I can't though

Help with app root method?

So, I'm attempting to help my girlfriend root her tablet from multiple hundreds of miles away, and its not easy, let me tell you. Basically, she has no access to a computer in order to complete the process, and of course she's on the latest firmware... so I'm here hoping someone is capable of creating an app that can do it for her. I see there was one in the past, but its obviously no longer working. If someone could do such a thing now... it would help me out so much, I'd be willing to pay. Thanks, guys.

Nobody because it's not possible for now.
The guy who made the sparky root method said in that thread that he'd port the newest root method to an apk format when he got a chance. Therefore, my argument is still valid.

Yes. Unlock, flash a custom recovery with fastboot (but you need a computer if you aren't rooted). And from recovery flash any ROM you want.
See, the issue here is there is no USB access on her computer, so whatever is done, it has to be from the tablet itself.

[IDEA] Port international firmware/ROM's to Verizon Note 2?

Considering the similarities between the domestic variants of the Note 2 and their international counterparts, would anyone be willing to test some of the success that the folks over in the AT&T forum have had with porting the international N7100/N7105 firmware/ROM's over to the Verizon Note 2
Check out these two threads over in the AT&T forum and see what you all think:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016575
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018411
The basic gist of the procedure is to use a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP to flash a stock N7100/N7105 firmware, and then flash your carrier specific modem/kernel.
Why would anyone want to do this? Well, for starters, you would benefit from built-in stock-supported tethering, and a few other features that carriers disable (YMMV). But mainly this means that the domestic versions of the Note 2 can benefit from the development of the international versions! So, when the latest version of Android comes out for the rest of the world, we aren't stuck here waiting for our carrier to catch up to everyone else...
So what do you all think? Anyone willing to try?
ba-ba-ba-BUMP.
What about integrating carrier specific apps? The Verizon version has a data usage app that works without logging into my Verizon.
I do believe that is what scrosler was doing here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055218 and he said this in the features " Verizon Patch files in a flashable zip can be found http://www.cleanroms.com/downloads/Note2/VZW Patch for 7105 Base.zip This will let the ROM think you are a VZW ROM! Good for the Play Store and APN settings! " But.... He did say he was unsure if it works on other roms in his second post. You possibly could try it. : )
Thanks. . But I'm already using his VZW rom

Any chance that Scott's patch would work on the CM10.1 nightlies for N7100? If I try it, do I risk bricking?
Sent from my Galaxy Note II using Tapatalk 2
You risk a soft brick. Just make a nandroid backup first and you'll be fine.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Just make sure you don't flash modems and keep a stock kernel on hand
Yeah since the hardware is nearly identical I think the most you would risk is a soft brick. The 7100 lacks LTE though so I'm not sureif you would have data on one of those roms. Tell us how it goes if you go through with it.

After going through the unlock process on the Verizon Note 2, would I be able to then use a MetroPCS sim card in it? I went through the entire process in Casual, it said I was unlocked, but when i popped my metro sim, it wouldn't recognize it.
I'm guessing I either messed up somewhere, or it isn't capable of doing it.
Can anyone shed some light?

You also have to copy the relevant libraries and this can be a problem because the old note is still Android 4.1.1 or not?
To find the relevant libraries you can also look in the logcat.
