3) Go to CMW Recovery/TWRP Recovery
4) Wipe Data
5) Wipe Cache

8) Select Install From SD (Internal or External)
9) Select Canvas P780 HD.zip and Select YES
10) If in CWM select OK / TWRP swipe to flash

I want you to have some things in if time permits:-
1) Boot Logo of Lenovo (ie, the name of lenovo should come during on and off of the mobile....... )
2) i love the features of Character Settings of Lenovo p780... ie, smart answer, flip silent, pocket mode & decrease tone,
3) Lenovo's Calculator looks very ugly
4) Options to see Battery meter in Figures or in default icon
5) if possible, Instructions more elaboratly... step by step
6) also i have ordered a Window case cover for the phone from Shopclues, will it work on P780 as window works on S4......

steps updated check OP - happy flashing - no issue of bricking as it is easy to unbrick and I am using this for the past 1 weak I dint find any issue I this rom

After applying this Rom, what does the partition look like?
All 8GB in one like Samsung and 4.2.2 + Lenovos or does it stay in 2 parts like Stock?
It stays in 2 part. Roms don't partition memory. Partition has to be done wid flash tool.

Gallery and super gallery app not showing any pic. Same wid d music n video player. However I can see through file manager. What's the problem?
And there is no option to arrange apps. They r all auto arranged. I want alphabetical order.
Everything else seems working fine.
Ok got the media fix. It was not reading older files. So i made a new folder n copy paste all files to new folder and revert back so all files became new.
Light sensor zip not working for me I flashed and there was no sim card detected, root gone. So i am using Without that.
I think your firmware version is different kindly replace all files inside system/etc/firmware from stock and for storage issues replace fsta.* inside system etc from stock

Tried both. Same problem. On media file flash, it was not showing any memory in the phone.
And one more just checked wifi also not connecting.
Or firmware is totally diferent try nee from sight for ROM and try it secondly cross verify ur portion before flashing

Thanks Mr. Raj. This ROM is perfectly working on 4gb version of P780. But the LED indicator in the front is not working. It used to flash in red or green for missed calls and messages earlier. Any solution, please?

Only one SIM detected
After flashing the ROM, it appears to be detecting only one SIM. I have cleared the possibility defecting SIM card by trying it out in other Mobiles. Is it that I have to again rewrite the IMEI codes from the back up using Mobile uncle? Super camera and super gallery are not thare should we get the apk and install?

SLX sxeems to be better ! I use LiFe v.0.7. For me is the best.

Excellent ROM, in v1.6 is more stable and faster. I flashed after full wipes. The only problem, is some animations with some lag and Quick and extra settings with GravityBox not works fine, but this is problem cause for compatibility of MTK and kitkat.
But Lenovo released the Vibe UI from ROW versions, I will expect ROW AOSP versions and repartition tool from India forums. The best ROMs actually are, SLXROM (by Silentxxx) and AOSP versions (by power19), from Russian Lenovo forum and 4pda forum respectelly.

Better you install or follow the thread at needrom discussion of p780 and follow the step by step tutorial. You don't need flashtool except for installing chinese version of p780 firmware prior to this aosp rom.

I have v1.7 , is there any way to upgrade to v1.8 without losing or restoring the entire data from scratch ?
Also, is there any way to skip the data to be installed in SD card because for the security reason I am looking for an option which could install all the apps in phone internal memory instead of SD card because SD card can be removed and data can be accessed anytime if the phone is lost.

I just flashed v1.8 and then wiped dalvik cache and thats it. I am on v1.8 and I must say BOOT ANIMATION plus STARTUP ITEMS is a charm.
My tests and solutions on the AOSP 1.8:
- The magnetic cases zip patch from recovery generates a bootloop on the CHINA BASED ROM.
- StandardCamera.zip it's SnapCamera. So I intalled the Google Camera from Plays Store and tested HDR, that doesn't work. PHOTOSPHERE and LENS BLUR works. Gallery Crashes while trying to edit a picture.
- Google launcher.zip works but overwrite nova prime. Titanium backup is recomanded.
- Gravity Box is stable, but a lot of tweaks are not applied.
Here there are my steps for the INSTALLATION and to solve the ISSUE ABOUT GOOGLE ACCOUNTS :
- I installed Vibe UI with Flashtools, just booted to check it then I rebooted in recovery. I didn't put any google account on it.
- From recovery I installed the AOSP 1.8 4.4.2
- At the first boot I get this 2 messages: "Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped" "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped" and I can't go on seting up the phone.
- Back in recovery tried a wipe to factory settings, it works, so I enter in the O.S.
Then
- Once in the O.S. I cant get to login in my Google Accounts, I get "there was a problem communicating with Google Servers"
- Back in recovery tried another wipe to factory settings, it DOES NOT works.
- From recovery I flashed again AOSP 1.8 over the AOSP 1.8, it DOES NOT works.
- Downloaded the GApps_Light_4.4.2_signed.zip, it DOES NOT works.
- So i was tired, and I installed from recovery SLX v26a CHINA.
- In SLX v26 I tried to log in with Google Play, and I logged in with success.
- Back in recovery I flashed again AOSP 1.8 over the SLX v26 china.
- Booting the AOSP 1.8, Google Play icon and files exist, but in SETTINGS->ACCOUNT there is no option to put a Google Account (only standard EMAIL ICON) and if you try adding it from Google Play, it crashes.
- Again, back in recovery, I Installed again GApps_Light_4.4.2_signed.zip
- Still in recovery, I tried a Wipe to Factory
- Back in the O.S. I tried to add an account in Settings->Accounts, and finally it works.
I found GApps_Light_4.4.2_signed.zip on XDA but i cant remember the address of the discussion. Mine was of size of 47.4 MB not the one of 50 MB, the second ones gave me an error in recovery.

The very first day I put the phone in AIRPLANE MODE with 35% at 00.00.
At 06.00 the battery was at 32%. Usually with other roms there is no such consumption of energy, with no variation of percentage displayed.
Around 8 it starts with a drammatic dropdown of enery, quicly decreasing from 30% to 11%, as in the screen.
This behaviour never happen again.

The second day, after a full charge, I installed a System App and rebboted the phone. After reboot from 100% I get 76 % of battery indication, with a "hole" in the battery graph and stats. I rebooted again and the indicator displayed 99%.

Tonight I put my phone in ariplane mode at 50% of charge. This morning I found the battery at 41%. I was quite sure that were no apps using GPS, but from the following screen it seems that GPS was turned ON all nigth long.
Does airplane mode should turn off ALL the signals? Why GPS remain ON?

Q: How to Change Modem?
How to change modem version in this ROM?
with default modem from v1.8, one of my SIM not have signal. I tried to install different modem from another post from recovery but still no signal. I did the same method for another ROM (SLX 26 CN/KIT) and it worked.
Tried to installed another Android 4.4.2 (vibe), have the same problem, and still can not change the modem
Any one can help?

the modem-file in this Rom is:
modem_1_3g_n.img
that file must be replaced with root explorer par example, but don't forget to set the same permissions than before.
For me the baseband v101 works fine.
EDIT:
Maybe you need to replace both modem files. I did it first with modem.img, but there was no effect und then I replaced modem_1_3g_n.img.

In etc/firmware I have only one file called modem_1_3g_n.img, there is nothing more.

Hi. You must look in /system/etc/firmware and /system/etc/mddb. This are the 2 directories or folders you must use.
Example:
In:/system/etc/firmware you will find the file called: modem.img
In:/system/etc/mddb you will find the file called: BPLGUInfoCustomAppSrcP_MT6589_S00_P780_V23

This is Chinese based ROM. Life v.1.2 is ROW. So... No it cannot be flashed over Life v.1.2.

Go to magazine play look for ZipME app. Install that app and with it do a backup to folders /system/etc/mddb and
/system/etc/firmware.
The file creeated is your modem software backup.
Flash your custom ROM and then reflash your modem.

I really look forward to install this ROM on my P780 which is currently running on ROW_S227 Firmware. Before attempting to install this ROM Here is some information i seek. I hope some one here is resourceful enough to help me out.
1. Is it safe to flash P780_S308_130814 STOCK FIRMWARE over my existing ROM which is a rooted S227_ROW ?
2. My phone was manufactured in March 2014, i tried to flash some Chinese firmware in the past but some how the phone simply wont boot after that. Any issues whats wrong here ?
3. After installing this ROM does it use internal memory as default or the external SD card as default. If its external then is there a way we can swap them. I have a 8GB version so really don't want to waste the internal memory.

Hi. Answer:
1. it is safe to flash because this chinese ROM i uploaded is flashing with Flash Tool and flash tool will erase your existing ROM. Now because you say that your phone is 8Gb you must find a KK or JB stock ROM for your phone and update till KK last version. What i uploaded is for 4Gb phones.
2. because your phone is made in 03.2014 you must use the new preloader. You will find here. Replace the original preloader with this one and will work.
3. internal memory will be default.
This rom dont have toggle notification shortcut??
Or i miss something on setting??

Features -

Bugs -
1. In toolbox, dont switch the main storage. It will brick the internal storage mount points and you will have to flash the rom again.
2. Upon first boot, lockscreen isn't working. To fix it, bring down the status bar and open settings and then press the home button to go to the launcher, then go to themes app and install any other theme and the lock will work just fine.
The problem is not with Lock, its with the miuiv6 theme so don't cry.
3. Latest version of google maps is not working, download the apk from http://d-h.st/Cmi and install it just like any ordinary apk but remember to uninstall previously installed google maps app. Thanks to @hell1134 for this solution.
Instructions -
1. Reboooooot into recovery, I prefer CWM and make a backup.
2. Factory reset. Delete Cache.
3. Go into mounts/storage and format data, system, and cache partitions.
4. Format dalvik-cache, just in case.
5. Flash the downloaded rom and reboot.
6. (OPTIONAL) After two three boots, flash Crossbreader for amazingly ultimate speed boost.

Below is just an addition to the OP

More Detailed way to install this ROM.
Prerequisites :
Download the Rom and save it on the internal SD Card(Storage memory)
STEP 1
First of all root your phone-(This is only for canvas knight running KK 4.4.2)
Use the below link to root you phone by installing custom recovery-TWRP/CWM

Once rooted reboot the phone to verify if you have root access (Updated supersu binaries if prompted to).
STEP 2
Power off the phone and follow the below steps to reboot to recovery.
Hold and press together Volume Up + Volume Down + Power button.
Now you will see menu, where choose option Recovery mode using Volume Up.
STEP 3-Deletion of existing ROM
In here we will be using Volume UP and Volume Down to Navigate up and down in the menu and power button to select.
Now navigate to wipe data/factory reset and delete all the user data( Hoping that you have taken a backup)
Now navigate to wipe cache partition and delete the davlik cache.
STEP 4-Installing MIUI
Now navigate to Install zip from sdcard and select choose zip from internal sd card
Navigate to location where you have saved the Rom and select it wait for completion.
STEP 5-
Once the the installation is complete reboot the phone
It might take a while for the phone to boot at first.
Complete the setup process.
Congratulations now you have miui on Micromax Knight.
Known Issues
Lock Screen Missing
Calendar and Weather icons missing(Icon art)
Fix :
This is the default theme problem hence would recommend to download any other theme to make it work.
Caution
1. In toolbox, dont switch the main storage. It will brick the internal storage mount points and you will have to flash the rom again.
2. Do not activate the pattern lock before changing the theme.(If already done then reboot to recovery and delete the Davlik cache).

Once I ported MIUI v5 from Gold to my Knight but it wasn't that impressive in terms of speed. You can flash this on gold and see if it works but first obviously make a cwm backup and have the sp tool and stock rom ready to flash boot.img if your phone stops booting like mine did.

I tryedto install this rom without any change . after install on language sellaction screen gone crash and tuch is not working and battery discharging v fast can u tell me how can I fix it I don't know anything about rom porting

Everything is WORKING.

i am getting an error on D858HK of .com.android.phone has unexpectedly stopped everytime someone tries to call me
I flashed this on my D858HK with SuperSU and had not problems overall with the installation and things ran well. However, bluetooth isn't working properly for certain devices. For connecting to other mobile phones, if the other mobile initiated pairing, it worked properly. I couldn't get my phone to initiate the pairing. Also, when connecting to a bluetooth device which was turned on and visible, the bluetooth would forcibly and automatically turn off and restart every time. Is there a bluetooth problem with MM? Is it because of D858HK? Or is it something different (or a combination perhaps)?
Quick circle problem i use smart case but when i close it i see quick circle and clock does not work fine plz fix problem

Hi I have tried mentioned TWRP from 30a rom ( flashed using adb with kingroot) . It doesn't seems to be booting to recovery after that.

How To Flash :
use KK support CWM / TWRP or any other Recovery AND system partition needed. (Google It)
( You Can Take CMW Backup for Revert back to your old system )
1) Download ROM zip File below link
2) Put into External/Internal SD Card
3) Go To CMW / TWRP Recovery
4) Wipe Data/Factory Reset
5) Wipe Cache
6) From Advance Menu Do Delvik Cache Clear
7) Go in Mount And Storage select FORMAT SYSTEM
8) Select Install From SD and Select file And Click YES
9) Select ROM zip And Select YES
10) Reboot
11) Congrats You have Rom now....Report if you find bugs
(It will take around 5 Min. for first boot)

there is no way but simple to create Ritz Partition
thanks for your work but i got a serious issue with this rom.
firstly it installed well and booted. ran for about 30 mins. was giving settings fc bug. then it jus hung up and the handset started heating so much. i had to remove the battery and cool down the handset and tried to boot back but no luck. the rom was stuck at the boot logo on every boot.
so i had no option but revert back to my old system.
i hope this review helps to sort out the issue
