SP355AWG - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just bout a SP355AWG its a verry cheap android phone to play around with and for the price you get a not to bad speck phone i bout it for 499 ZAR its about $49 so i i used my friend google but i can not find a manufacture for theat fone tring to see if there is going to be a ICS update but no luck so i was hoping some one might be modtvated enough to compile one for this phone here http://www.digok.com/p11873784-cheap-3g-smart-mobile-phone-sp355awg is a link to give a better spec of the phone.

MTN Steppa SP355AWG
I also bought this phone. It's not bad at all for ZAR499, unfortunately only a product by MTN South Africa, so it won't be seen globally, and therefore you'd probably never get covers for it. It has Play store access but it is based on a unbranded cheap Chinese model, the SP355AWG that does not have Play store access.
But, I can't get the generic Google ADB drivers to work with it, Mtn has no drivers on their site, nor are there any included with the phone's package, kinda sucks. And there is also no info on rooting it. But a quick comparison between the SP355AWG and my previous Galaxy Pocket GT-S5300 that cost ZAR899
The SP355AWG has a 1Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon and a GPU that can run alot of 3D HD games and the S5300 has a 800Mhz ARM11 and it can't run many 3D HD games.
The SP355AWG has a light sensor and proximity sensor that the S5300 does not have.
The SP355AWG also has a bigger screen and higher resolution:
SP355AWG: 3.5" @ 320*480
S5300: 2.8" @ 240*320
Both run Android 2.3 Gingerbread
Now the only major drawbacks are the non-available ADB drivers and no rooting info (Hope someone might be able to help with that?) and then the MTN launcher UI which can easily be replaced by installing a custom launcher from the Play Store like ADW or HOLO. Other than that it's a great buy.
EDIT: Apologies, I was wrong about the drivers, they are included on the device in a separate partition when connected via usb, but after I installed the drivers ADB still did not detect it so I had to go and add the vendor id in the adb_usb.ini file and voila, I can debug, now I'm just hoping to see this device get rooted

Root is possible

Ah I found it, thanks. Now I'm rooted but when I execute something as su it does't ask me to grant permission, it just allows it which I don't like because what if I one day install a malicious app unknowingly, I won't know if it's executing anything as su because my su app also shows no activity in the logging even though it's turned on. It also does not show the apps that requested su permissions
EDIT: Ok the su not notifying me was also solved after a reboot, it failed at remounting /system with rw access so it couldn't update the su binaries, after a reboot it succeeded at mounting it rw but fails at remounting it ro, same thing through the terminal. It says the partition is busy or in use but now my su binaries are updated and it requests permission.

[Q] Proscan PLT7044k, Rooting, Roms, Any way to make it Suck Less?

A friend of mine picked up a Proscan PLT7044k. Great cheap tablet from BigLots they wanted to gift me as a late birthday present. Sure it's cheap, but cheap can be good right? Especially if it's a backup device or something to tinker with.
Trouble is we're running into some issues. Fine. Great it's a cheap Chinese tablet. We both get that we're not expecting nexus or ipad mini or even kindle fire quality. However GetJar is, apparently, not working correctly, Amazon Marketplace (which it was linked to in the device) will not let you change settings, and My friend isn't wanting to try rooting to get google play working just yet because we're not sure if the Thread found on the matter has all the bugs worked out.
This Thread seems to be closest to what 'we' want but the model number is different (it's supposed t obe the same device save for the one we're working with included a hardware keyboard/case, but one never knows.)
Of Note when queried my friend only saw a one gig internal storage device instead of the four gig advertised and described the external media slot as a SD slot instead of a micro-sd.
So, since I am, for the moment, treating this device as different and not wanting to risk bricking before info can be gained on if it's worht keeping or taken back, trying to figure out the following:
Very minimum how does one get google play on this gizmo.
Is there anything that can be done about the touch screen lag?
Is there a CyanogenMod port that will work or other custom rom that might help with the issues of lag?
Any advice would be welcome/useful. Even 'RTFM' with links to other threads.
Edit: Be Aware my 'primary' computer is running linux (peppermint OS3, ubuntu 12.04 based distro.)
I just got this tablet. You have root accesses out of the box. There are 2 ways I have installed play store. Through root explorer and through adb push. google gapps for jellybean. here is the manual and firmware proscanvideo.com/item.asp?itemnmbr=PLT7044K . I can make a tute anyone needs.
I ended up taking mine back and getting a Nook Touch. Sure I'll still need to root the thing to get much use out of it beyond being an e-reader but even with it not-rooted it's still actually a pretty good experiance.
Sorry Icouldn't be a trailblazer to anyone getting a proscan and wanting to improve on it.
a noob, but I honestly have tried...

ok, I have tried very VERY hard to find out how to root my proscan plt7044k. I've tried following the few links that I have found, and have found them to be broken. Or the items just won't download onto my computer or just flat don't work. It appears that what I have to do is to find a driver for this thing so that my computer can recognize it, and the Curtis website doesn't give any driver information. Yes, I did download their manuals and tech material, and they DON'T WORK. All they provide is a powerpoint thing that says to "find program x, do y, etc", without providing that program. I cannot find a driver for this p.o.s. ANYWHERE, nor any that would work for an earlier model and then also "might" work for mine.
I really want to get rid of the "getjar" crap, as well as all of the bloatware that google puts into these things!

I Titanium backup to uninstall the bloat. You also can use Root explorer or adb to rename the apk extension of the bloat to get rid of the eyesore

proscan 7" tablet.
you kngoo root, make sure your using windows...anything past vista.
i used wkindows 7 or 8 from an internet cafe and my proscan is plt7602g and it worked fine...i even reset from the android service menu (green dead dude) and it worked but make sure most of all that you have the verify apps off so you can root it. because it will still be a danger to ur tablet. there is always a bricking chance, one you instakll kingoo root and run the program plug in ur tablet press root and the app takes care of it all. and if you google kingoo app or kingoo root it will show a main website and go from there
i got my proscan PLT1077G and i haven't found a **** yet i want to change my tablet android OS but don't have a developer who can help us with this one i think proscan is not that popular

Android 4.2.2 Generic Root

Anyone here know their phones well enough to tell me what kind of Root I need?
If anyone can recommend a Root method that might work for the following phone configuration, I'd greatly appreciate it..
My phone is custom built by a Sonim OEM, but factory modified to the Companies own brand.. its comparable to the Sonim A3, at least in outward functionality and durability, being waterproof, etc... but the internal hardware compilation is likely different, but I'm not sure how..
Here is my log from Android System Info.. it says at the bottom, user is root? but I dont have root access.. i ran Root Checker Basic, and it said I dont have a rooted phone.. I also did the terminal test & su was unrecognized and returned $ and not #
Here are the specs:
Android version : 4.2.2
Release Codename : REL
API LEVEL : 17
CPU ABI : armeabi-v7a
Manufacturer : alps
Bootloader : unknown
CPU ABI2 : armeabi
Hardware : mt6572

thanks for any advice or recommendations for possible Root-exploit matches

It took them an entire month to make this phone from nothing... and it was kind of done through some back channels, and what not.. probably because it was made off the clock..
so I can't really just go directly and ask the person who built it more details...
so, there isnt any bloatware or anything like that,.. i need root for mostly just the control of functionality and for future apps
-
I cant really wrap my head around the fact that Google wouldnt offer its users an official and simple, built-in Rooting method for its little Android platform.
Carriers who want to prohibit rooting could just remove or block the feature from their own phones, if they chose to do it
In other countries, such as Australia, they require the Phone companies to stand behind warranties for their Phones Hardware, even after its been rooted, and the burden of proof is on the Phone company to prove that any hardware-related problem was caused by the rooting
and many more countries have no such laws or care for anyone rooting their devices
it seems Android is made by Americans, for Americans, and the rest of the world is being dragged along by the neck
-
Actually, I take that back, they arent making phones 'for Americans', they are making them for service providers, not the end user.
Google - has decided that the interests of the Carriers are more important than the needs of the people
Which makes Android not a "Free & Open Source" platform for the people, but a platform built for money-making companies, for the profit-mongering, uber-wealthy telecom giants
Giants which are so wealthy and so powerful, and exist under such a flawed and corrupt system as the U.S Government is, that they are free to influence & control legislation through the use of special-interest lobbyists working for their monetary gain & control and against the people of the United States, to create silly little trash acts like the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.. as if the people were toys or tools existing to line the walls of their offices with gold & silver.
and the other 99.9% of the enslaved American people have no say in that matter.. there wasnt a vote.. it wasn't democratic in any fashion whatsoever, except as far as anything that happens in America they choose to simply call "Democratic", as if propaganda for population control or to keep the wheels of capitalism spinning profits off the wall.. whilst seemingly oblivious to the actual meaning of the term.
and that, in turn, spills over America's borders and fills the rest of the world with similarly sad & pathetic feelings of no self-worth, powerlessness, and subservience to corporate interests... bending the backs of the world's masses, crippling their view of their own personal rights & freedoms, and standing in the world... amazed & in awe that the people in the most developed country in the world and so-called most "Free", are silently taking anything handed to them, just as the people living in regime-controlled governments like North Korea, Cuba, or Iran do.... the only difference being that the power is shifted from Central Governments to mega-conglomerate Self-invested, in-it-to-win-it, profit-above-all, Privately owned & operated Corporations that can never do anything in the best interests of others, nor act in any way other than making the most money, regardless of the type of society they create, how they manipulate and pollute the Government & Political System, and destroy the basic freedoms & rights of the people
Thanks G$$GLE, for playing the game we all know & hate
What happens in America is always in the best interests of Very large, powerful, & privately owned corporations with no other care or concern to anything or anyone other than securing a profitable environment for themselves at any expense, the ends always justifying the means, in their cases.
you can have what you want the moment you become a billionaire and have 20 other Billionaires who want to create a more profitable condition in the market, and can hire the most powerful D.C. Lobbyists in America to Bribe, Coerce, Threaten, Blackmail, Work-Over, Negotiate, Pay-off, Corrupt, Deceive, Trade Political Favors or otherwise Control & Own the Legislators and "good'ol" boys, of the good'ol U.S. of A.

You have a device with a MediaTek CPU in it. Use this to root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43163569&postcount=7
If you need help installing drivers on your PC try www.snappea.com and install on PC, it will install an adb driver that will work for what we need.
Hope this helps!
How is it even possible to make having administrator access to your phone illegal?
"As of March 5, 2013 it is illegal to unlock a phone under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act for use with other carriers without the consent of the carrier. "
How does that even work exactly? it doesnt. It's something the carriers dreamed up to make things conform to their very narrow need to have marketing control, to force the use of their apps, most likely for Demographic & Psychographic information & usage statistics gathering... and for dominating the market & maximizing profits.
On the other hand, any scrub on the planet is free to make an application which adds malware or spyware to your phone, cause it to behave in any malicious way they can scheme up, actually allow/encourage them to gather your personal data, PIN numbers, Record your keystrokes, monitor your real-time location, and basically completely whore out your phone in every way imaginable.. and you cant do anything about it
its their "right" as app-makers... its NOT your right to stop people from collecting personal information or recording every single thing you type on your phone for their timely review at their leisure
ok. i think we got that straight, So everyone else on the planet can access your phone and collect your private data, EXCEPT for you
The Carriers, Google, and most likely the CIA, NSA & HLS want to block all users from being able to stop programs which steal your info & monitor you closely.
thats really what this is all about. You have no ability to stop the spying and data collection on your phone..
they have total access to anything they might ever want to do remotely on your phone
and you are going to sit there and let it happen.
I hope the NSA at least gave the people at Google special jackets that have the interior embroidered with: "I sold out every user in America, and all I got was this special super-secret jacket", like they did for the Facebook guys

That is because there is an android exploit in the package, that program can also root some devices but your A/V is picking up the exploit since technically it is a linux exploit, but it is used to root the phone is all. Any other link you get to download that file will say the same since the exploit is packaged into the file.

Ok, i DL'd it.. I do have a couple questions..
1st, does your phone have to be off before you begin? I dont see "Create Scatter"
and, in SuperSU, everytime I start it, it asks "The SU binary needs to be updated. Continue?" then "If you have a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM, that can be used to (try to) install the SU binary. This is recommended for HTC devices. How would you like to Install he SU binary? [Normal] [TWRP/CWM]
click Normal says "Installing, please wait...".. then it says "Installation Success !"
it does this every single time SuperSU is clicked.. any ideas?
thanks

Ok, first for SuperSU. open it again and choose continue then normal. Then hit the home button on your phone to exit app without closing it. Now please go into Settings > Applications > All and find the chinese installed superuser app. (It looks like a blue shield) Tap that app and then on next screen choose disable or uninstall. Now go back and open SuperSU again and if it asks to update binary again choose continue and normal and you should be good to go. Try Root checker afterwards to verify. This Vroot works good but it can be a bit of a pain on some devices to get rid of the superuser it installs so you can switch to english Superuser or SuperSU
Then open MTK Droid Tools and connect PC with phone powered on, click on the root, back up, recovery tab and then click the big back up button. If back up button is greyed out you will have to click the root button in bottom right corner to allow adb shell root access to make the back up. (make sure you hit grant on phone when you click the root button on MTKDT)
You dont need to create scatter file to back up with MTK, only if you want to pull files using SP flash tool but MTK does same thing on its own.

Try Root checker afterwards to verify. well, I updated, then i swiped down from the top and went to settings from there, apps > all, then Forced stopped the Vroot SU app, I then disabled it.. then I went back to SuperSU, it updated it normally, it took about 5 times longer, then it said "Installation Failed"
I dont know, the version of Vroot I downloaded has an English Superuser, and it looks pretty full-featured... it looks more full-featured than SuperSU, just from what i've seen, but maybe i'm not even seeing the real SuperSU program yet... though there are some small English misspellings in the VrootSU
If I cant fix SuperSU, I'd be fine using that one, but SuperSU says you cant just uninstall it.. you need to get another one working first.. is that done by Disabling SuperSu, and then enabling Vroot's SU, as simple as that?
thanks for all the help

You may need to run Vroot again to get root access back would be quickest way to get root back if you lost it. Then try this open SuperSU, then hit continue, then normal. Now to into Settings for SuperSU, there scroll down and find Install SuperSU into /system. It will tell you that you need to clean up and reboot. Once rebooted see if chinese superuser app is gone. If so, try root checker now and see if superSU pop up box asks you to grant.
If you prefer to just use the chinese superuser app then you can just uninstall SuperSU via play store or within Settings > Applications > All.

Well I didnt lose Root, I Cleared SuperSu's cache then disabled it.. Then I Cleared the cache then re-enabled VrootSU, now Vroot is re-logging everything and monitoring everything again.
I'm new to this actually, I see vRoot has Permissions, System Optimize, Clean Internal System Apps, Root Access Management on a Per-Program basis for Allow, Deny, or Ask;.. Process Management with User & System labels.. Boot Management with User & System labels, Delete Unnecessary Files to clean up space...
Can SuperSU do things vRoot Cant?
I'll probably talk to one of my local Chinese in-laws who's really into Linux and Rooting Androids, and ask him what he uses as well.. next time I see him..
it seems most people on XDA prefer SuperSU... I dont like the fact that there's a paid pro version really..
but.. I guess If later I learn I need something more, I'll revisit SuperSU & other programs..
I'll work on the backup now, thanks
hmm, well it seems to not recognize my phone.. the bottom says "The device isnt revealed, Connect or reconnect a cable"
There is no "root" button on the bottom right, only a clickable "ADB Terminal" button, and a greyed-out "reboot" button
The phone information tab shows no phone info, and the 'root, backup, & recovery' tab has 2 checkboxes I can check "Backup Userdata & Cache" and "Leave Flash Tool files on SD card"
The 'Backup', 'Superuser', 'Build.prop', and 'Delete China' buttons are all greyed out .. (what does delete china do?)
in the middle section, "Recovery & Boot" is a button I can click, with a "To choose the boot.img" radio button accessible as well
then of the bottom 4 options, only the "To process file ROM_from Flash Tool" bar is greyed out, the other 3 bars are clickable:
-To prepare blocks for Flash Tool
-To unpack yaffs2 the section
-To create updates for modified recovery

The Phone is powered on.. I tried connecting in USB_debugging mode, and not in USB debugging mode.
I connected & reconnected the cable, closed & restarted the program every time.. and I tried both starting the program, then connecting, as well as connecting first, then starting the program... tried rebooting as well.. and also tried with AV turned off, just in case, although I made an exception to the programs directory in my ESET NOD32 Smart Security
and if I first turn off USBdebugging, then connect the phone to the computer, and then click "Turn on USB Storage" on the android prompt screen on the phone, it opens up 2 separate explorer windows to 2 different drive contents..
and thats where I am.. any Ideas?
thanks again
well, I plugged it in today and tried again, and it worked.. or is working.. takes quite a while..
not sure what changed it, the only things I did differently was install busybox, make a titanium back up, try some usb host programs to get my USB to read an external device (which it still doesnt, any ideas about that?) and i'm using a longer thicker cable I bought today, a better quality one than the thin short black one that came with the charger..
well, it just asked me to pack the file, so i guess its on the last section..
anyway, thanks.. do you know which version of CWM I can use? or do I need CWM? Or can you recommend a NAND backup or is this a NAND backup, and I dont need another one?
thanks again

Sounds like it was most likely the cable you were using, I went out and bought a nice big expensive one, since most devices use the same type of connector it seems, and have never had any issues getting any device to connect that I have used it on thus far.
MTK droid tools backed up your stock firmware, but you can also pull your stock recovery out of that back up and repack it into a CWM based recovery using MTK DT too. I can help if you like, let me know.
If you ever need to reflash the firmware you can either use SP flash tool or you can make the above mentioned CWM recovery and use it to flash the firmware back to device too.
Hope this helps!

[Q] Need Help Rooting Obscure Tablet

Hi.
I'm having trouble rooting my tablet, as the thread heading says. I'll give the spec's and then tell more about what I've attempted to root it already. First, this is an Envizen V100MDT1409010035, although it only really cares to call itself V100MDT. I've found only 1 other hyper-obscure thread about rooting a cousin-product of this device, and to my memory it was very well not worth the while. This is running a quad-core arm-based system. This silly little thing likes to complain that it's only in production build, so it won't allow adb to run as root on it to give me the access that I'd need to root it manually by forcing down that Superuser.apk and Su binary. Even though this odd little thing does have the su binary on it at /system/xbin/su, it still has one heck of a time executing it. It can't. It keeps giving a return code of 255 for some reason, so I tried downloading chainfire's su binary for the arm processor off of his website and found that the web link was broken, since I was just going to upload it, change the permissions, and execute the binary, right? Well, turns out that it can't even run properly. I've thought about custom compiling the su binary for my tablet, buuuuuuuuut I don't know how. At all. Right now it's just sitting here, on my laptop, leeching power. Currently, I'm running Linux Mint 17 with KDE here, no dual boot, and the laptop can't recognize the Device under the USB storage form, but it can under Media device (MTP) form. I read on another forum here that if I changed ro.debuggable=0 to ro.debuggable=1 in the /default.prop file, then I'd be able to run adb as root. Well, that's failed to crap, since that file and my /system folder are "basically" locked into read-only mode.
I've had a long day trying to get this crazy website to work after completing part of a formal lab for school.
What I have in front of me is a brick that can play videogames (updated in another thread).
Help before I explode.

Archos 50c Neon: Rooted with KingRoot, replaced, but unable to use SuperSU

Hello Archos community,
I have bought the new Archos 50c Neon in early July, because of its nice price-performance ratio and the fact that it runs Android 4.4.2.
I have been able to successfully root it using Chinese "KingRoot", but am looking for an alternative SuperUser app. I already own a license of SuperSU Pro (which I am using for my tablet), but it turns out that the current versions of SuperSU (both 2.46 and 2.49) currently cause a crash when calling "su" from adb - seemingly because the Dalvik VM is unable to instantiate class "android.os.Environment" from SuperSU code when SuperSU wants to display its UI dialog that asks for permission. For the detailed issue description, please see here:
My thread in XDA SuperSU forum: Crash when trying to run su
Unfortunately, Chainfire (the author of SuperSU) from his signature is "away for most of the summer", and I will wait until he's back and then point him to this issue one more time.
In the meantime, I have created a script to successfully remove all remains/remnants of KingRoot (after successful rooting with it) and replace it by Koushik Dutta's OpenSource Superuser package:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.superuser
http://www.koushikdutta.com/post/superuser
I have attached a ZIP file to this post that includes everything needed to do so - here are the instructions:
Please note that I do not take any responsibilities in case you brick your device, and also note that you void your warranty for the phone when rooting (these should be clear anyway)!
Reset your Neon 50c to factory settings (optional, might be needed in case you run into issues otherwise when removing KingRoot)
Unzip the attached ZIP and copy its contents to the root of the internal SD storage on your 50c Neon (directory /sdcard)
Use the included kingroot_4.0.0.apk to root your phone (allowing to install apks from untrusted sources)
Then, from your PC, open an "adb shell" to your device (you need to activate developer mode and USB debugging in order to do so)
From this adb shell, execute "su" and allow this root access through the KingRoot dialog on your phone. You now have a root shell on your phone.
Open a second adb root shell in the same way to not become stuck in case something goes wrong with the first one
In the first adb root shell, cd to /sdcard and execute my script in the following way:
Code:
cd /sdcard
sh -x ./kingroot_2_koush_su.sh ./busybox ./superuser.zip
and while it is running, press enter three times when "ps | grep king" and "ps | grep k_" show whether there are still processes running on your device that are related to KingRoot. General rule here is: When there are processes still running for the first ("ps | grep king"), something went wrong and KingRoot uninstall will most probably fail, while the fact that only processes matching the second ("ps | grep k_") are found, is normal and will NOT stop the script from working successfully.
When the script has finished, your phone will do a "soft reboot" (from killing zygote). You should do another explicit "hard" reboot afterwards anyway before trying to use the newly installed Superuser package.
I have run this script myself on my device, and am pretty confident that after the script has run successfully, there are no remains/remnants of KingRoot left on my device. The Open Source Superuser app by Koushik Dutta runs without any issues.
Hope this helps - and am still looking for some help with why SuperSU crashes on the 50c Neon although it seemingly has been installed properly...
Best regards,
awl
Great work, thank you very much for sharing this. :good:
I have just successfully followed your instructions and they worked for my new Archos 50c Neon as well.
Just one remark concerning the Kingroot (as the app was confusing me with Chinese that I could not read): Make sure to turn your wifi on before you start Kingroot, otherwise the app won't do anything.
And now my questions:
Do you by any chance know if there is a custom recovery available for the Archos 50c Neon? I haven't found any.
Have you written a debloater script which uninstalls all uninstallable apps?
do you have a custom recovery for this phone as I cannot get the su to up date without it restarting into recovery for the clockwork mod superuser. I have got root but only if i set supersu to grant rather than prompt but this isn't a very secure way as you said the su binary is there but the system isn't allowing the prompt.

AFAIK there is no custom recovery for this phone. I don't own it any more, it had too many weak points, such as most promintently speech quality/microphone and frequent hangups or no sound for one party during 3G telephony.
Sorry & best regards,
awl

Yes first thing I noticed about this phone was the call quality haven't had any dropped calls though also the touch screen is awful only 2 touch. Reasonable hardware though CPU is a spreadtrum 1.2ghz a7 quad core so runs cooler and more energy effient than the a9 with a mali400 mp2 twin core GPU runs Asphalt8 on decent settings and good frame. But sadly let by the touch screen as for SuperSU it roots the phone and if set to grant, root programs run so the problem is with the prompt not being allowed to show. I'm thinking this is more Google security than anything.

TCL TV 55 inch L55C1US [5.1.1] Root

Hi everybody
I bought an android tv was very enthusiastic about how the rich 4k resolution combined with an android system would be well this is running 5.1.1 im lucky to say that it came with an app store from which I installed Google Playstore the Playstore sucks but im making do with what I have then I pushed some apps using ADB specifically apps to root my TV yeah you dont find many threads about rooting these things since they're rather not mainstream but having that said something weird happned no one click root app worked on my tv not kingo not king root none of them i tried 10-15 different ones until i downloaded ES file explorer and started looking around in the system folder i found a file called 'tclsu' then I went on my computer hooked it to my tv using adb
then i typed in 'adb shell' once i was in shell i had the $ sign when i typed in 'tclsu' and hit enter I got a # sign which meant i was rooted i was so excited i put a superuser apk in my system/app folder but it wouldnt find the binary and said i wasnt rooted i even changed and set the right permissions 4755 using chmod with # i moved a new binary and tried to do alot but i cant seem to make Super user work only in shell i can move files using 'tclsu' and going superuser shell how do i get a full root so i can do other things!?
I have similar TCL TV 55 (LEDP110US). I am facing the same problem. I was not able to root it yet as well. I was able to access the secret hidden factory menu and also connect to adb.
Also I have the .bin firmware file of my tv which I got from TCL directly.
My thread is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/tcl-tv-55-inch-l55c1us-5-1-1-root-t3565932
If you have made any progress please share.
