I would like someone with a P769 or MS769 with an unlocked bootloader to upload all their partitions except system and data. I want to compare the partitions on my phone to see why my bootloader will not unlock.
Preferably someone who unlocked with the V20B Europe KDZ file.
Thanks
I have mines unlocked with the v20B uboot & xloader. [P769]
Didn't you use to own an Optimus V?

that works, and yes. Yes I did. Yes I still do.....but it's running optimus U firmware because the V bootloader (and S since S is the same bootloader) no longer work on it because of me flashing something to the wrong partition by accident on it. I also have an Optimus S and an Optimus M.
The U firmware doesn't keep phone settings from any carrier besides US Cellular, so basically I gave up on it. My Optimus S has the stupid reboot problems as well as my Optimus M, my dad's and mom'd Optimus M also had reboot issues. My optimus V was the only phone from the optimus line that didn't have an issue. I bought that phone from ebay for $25 because of bad ESN. Optimus S was donated to me. Optimus M was my first android for my 16th b-day (I am so glad it wasn't an iPhone, cause...well....I asked for an iPhone haha).
An irrelevant phone I have as well is the LG Motion.
I also have an LG Motion. Haven't really done anything with it yet besides rooting it. My Optimus V is a trooper, it's been through hell and somehow back. It even got lost at a rooftop and I was able to retrieve it

I have a LG Optimus P500 from T-mobile which is unlocked to all GSM sims. It runs Fryo 2.2 and I would like to upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.x. Is it possible to do that? Would that lock or brick the phone? Is there any way that I could install gingerbread 2.3.x since I don't also see T-mobile official gingerbread release anywhere for P500.
Is KDZ an option or should I stick with Fryo?

T-mobile has not released an official update for next version of android popularly known as gingerbread. KDZ is a gingerbread update for lg and it is a firmware update utility specifically meant for lg phones.

I know that I can update using KDZ but I have a unlocked phone and just skeptical if it would get it locked and also the chances of getting it bricked are more since it is a unlocked phone. Just trying out to know if someone had used KDZ on an unlocked T-mobile P500 phone.

Seems like we both are trying to get a response but let us see....
I have the same exact phone from Walmart on T-Mobile. I tried to use kdz and bricked my last phone. Luckily walmarts people sent me a brand new one when I told them it bbricked while I was talking on it. SO being very careful I rooted and flashed clockwork mod, made a backup and then flashed cm7 nightly 34 which has been working amazing for weeks now, just had to use funny sim fix for the data to work.

Thanks for the update and info. Now I know using KDZ would brick the phone. I also bought it through Walmart but I would be here in Bangalore for sometime and I have unlocked the phone. As you have mentioned I would like to root and flash clockworkmod but since I have unlocked it I doubt it would work or if I try it would lock again.

There is a thread somewhere with the official LG GB roms.
I loaded the rom for Taiwan with KDZ on my unlocked P509T.
csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500/ATWNBK/V20d_00/V20D_00.kdz
It has indonesian, german, english, spanish, french, italian, malay, portuguese, viet, turkish, arabic, korean, chinese in the language & keyboard menu.
It is unbranded and has little bloatware. And the phone now ids itself as a P500.
Rooted with the lge_adb.conf trick and superoneclick
EDGE & HSDPA connect fine - at least for TMO MyAccount - out here
in Los Angeles.
The most important function lost was WiFi calling, otherwise it seems to work ok.
You can always flash back it to the official froyo if it doesn't work out.
All you have to do is do a search about rooting and flashing recovery then flashing ROM's its all here just search for it. And if you can't find what you need Google still is a working reliable search engine.

stuck on bootloop with security error message. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING. I just want to get the phone back to stock. nothing works. Has anyone had this problem and successfully unbricked their phone? Any help is appreciated.
the problem is being worked on as we speak, mostly due to not having kdz files for that version of the L9. I use the same version too, most of the time, which is why i'm not doing much beyond rooting it and freezing the bloatware.

Use this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344
Use the KDZ for the Canadian P769:
http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=18
If it works, you will loose wifi calling and any of the T-Mobile bloatware. I may be able to send you my kernel, wifi calling APKs, and T-Mobile bloatware.
Good luck.
Canadian p769 is your only option I've put in a request with the head of 4ext for a full recovery full setup for us then we can make a full backup and post it for others to use to get back to standerd T-Mobile firmware so til then do what is suggested

I am asking this because generally firmware by operators are locked for their own sims only.

Canadian V11a works great on T-mobile P769BK phone, I am on at&t SIM, work great on at&t than it on t-mobile.
Actually, it is very clean rom without any bloatware except default web page to Wind Mobile website.
only short-come is "not root-able" yet

So can be rooted or not be rooted? I am confused on that one. I figured the same method would work as the 10E. I am hoping this will let me get back use of my recovery on my P769BK for T-mobile US. After a failed OTA reboot to recovery either reboots phone or goes to dead android.

I am using the Canadian 11A on my US T-Mobile P789BK. It can not be rooted using any of the current methods.
The firmware itself is nice in that it is fast and pretty much bloat free. The little bit that is there can easily be disabled.
Everything works great including wifi hotspot and usb tether. I have been running it for a week now and so far I haven't run into any problems.
I hope someone can come up with a method to root it as I would love to have that option once again.
BTW:
I have used the KDZ offline method to install USA 10G and Canadian 11A and there is no problem going back and forth between the two at any time. Even all apps, wallpaper, data...etc. remain untouched. You would not even know that you switched except for the additional T-Mobile apps and the boot screens.
Has anybody tried flashing firmware's from different variant's of Optimus L9
the reason I am saying this is p760 will be unlocked in the next OTA update.
yes you heard it right p760's bootloader will be unlocked in the next update.
So I was thinking if p760's firmware is compatible with p765 or not ????
I think it would be worth to try flashing firmware of p760 on p765 !
they both are identical and the only difference between these phones is gorilla glass. IMO
I know it would be very risky. but it would be worth the risk.
It would be nice if two or more people could confirm that p760 firmware works on p765.

Yeah you right, if we could somehow compare all the variants of L9 and make comparison/compatible chart for the ROMS that would be really helpful for the L9 community.
I wonder if there is way to try find whether the rom is compatible or not, something like RUN/debug the ROM on the device without flashing it. I wonder if it is possible to that.

OMG, you are really brave. I think you are the first person to try that. Are you sure all hardware and features working well. I will also give an immediate try.
Actually I do guinea pig myself and my L9 always, but this time just want to re-confirm for some more confidence.
The difference between p765 and p760 I think just in the NFC feature (cmiiw). I installed the firmware 10A Baltics only for downgrade from firmware 10C Indonesia. Since I can not downgrade to 10B Indonesia for the purpose of rooting, so I try to use p760 firmware 10A Baltics. And it worked. I am not really sure if "all" hardware and features working well since i use it only for couple of hours but phone, texting, data, wifi and tried some important setting were working fine.

wow, glad to hear it, data and apps will always be there after you update the fw using that method
My 765 running v10C screen is not so responsive, think I'll give 10G a try
Btw, 765 is flashable with 760 version and it works. I tried Europe version.
I've tested the stability etc etc
The only not working is the NFC and camera.
Dunno if the others have camera problem too like me, but it can be solved by using 3rd party camera apps like camera360 :good:
Now, I'm downloading the 10G and gonna give it a shoot on my 765 :fingers-crossed:
