I am wondering if there is something similar to the Cydia Background Manager application for iOS that can be used on Android devices. I am looking for something that will allow me to force an app that goes to the background to stay in a foreground state like you can do with the Background Manager application.
This is the app I am referring to just in case...
cydia.saurik.com/package/kr.slak.backgroundmanager
Thank you.
I think you can use the "Resident" option in Per App Settings, which is an Xposed module.

What app do I need to download to give that a shot? The only Xposed app I saw looked like something to just remap keys.

Install the Xposed framework, then search for Per App Hacking in the Xposed Installer's repo (in the "Download" menu item.)

Does the device need to be rooted to install this? Where do I install it from?

You do need root. Here's the link to the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401

Would you happen to have a link to like an approved or known good guide for rooting a motorola xoom? Also I have read somewhere that when you unlock the bootloader before rooting that will essentially erase your device and all your app info...is that true?

I have no experience with unlocking bootloaders. You'll be able to find guides in the Motorola Xoom section, and you can also ask there (in the Q&A section) if you need guidance.

I'm thinking you are going to want that file as an APK ..
Have you contacted the developer of the app ? He/She will be your best source for information and support ....g
I messaged the developer but have not received a response. If its not an exe then how will I install it?
Use google..its your friend..and you dont ever use or need .exe for droid... you use .apk

APK's are installed from your file browser app. a simple long press of the app will give you option to install it. ( If the developer set the app up properly)....
If the app is correctly packaged, the only additional step is to check the "unknown sources" box in the applications settings.....and the app will install..once you select "install" of course..g

Use SuperOneClick to root your phone easily then use Lucky.... or just... look for a prepatched version on TPB, not that im endorsing piracy in any way. Piracy is wrong
Seems that since 4.4 apps can't write to the sdcard but just to a specific folder on sdcard/android/blablabla
and some apps don't even have that folder
what's the deal with that nonsense?

You can bypass it by using XPosed framework and the module "HandleExternalStorage"

Is installing a whole framework the only option at the moment?
What's the logic behind this crazy limitation?
Ich Don't know about the logic... Using xposed or a custom rom are the only methods I know. May be someone else got another solution.

Nonsense? No. It's for security purposes (according to Google). Annoying? Yes. Easiest way is the Xposed module, like mentioned or this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix

I understand the security reasons but would have been nice to give us the choice.
For exampe, yesterday I wanted to download something on the phone and couldn't since the download program can't write to the SD card neither seemed to have it's own folder.
Thanks for the link by the way, now I just have to root my phone

Well, unfortunately, since the vast majority of people have no clue about how their phone works or it's security, I think they just have to shoot for the lowest common denominator. But anyway, if you need help rooting, lemme know. That's kind of my forte.

1st: there is an archidroid q&a thread where you can post archidroid specific questions.
2nd: read Archidroid OP, there you will find your answer. alternatively either search in the main thread or in the q&a thread for "freedom" and you'll find at least 10 times your needed answer.
3rd: i am nice and repeat again the solution:
freedom needs to modify the hosts file but archidroid has a built-in adblock which locks the hosts file by default. so go to the archidroid app and unlock the hosts file. then it should work. but note that it is not recommended to use this method (read the thread to know why)

Hello. So apparently due to having a rooted device I can not find several apps on the playestore. Use there a way to hide that I'm rooted from playstore so that I can't have access to these apps?
install them from apkpure
