Hi,
Does anyone know if the Mega will work with an OTG cable to an external USB DAC ? If so are there just particular DACs that could work ? I've got a cable and a Fiio E10 and nothing happens with an app like Spotify or Google Play music.
Just wondering if it might work with other DACs.
Cheers,
Matt
fiio E17 + Mega 6.3 works.

Fiio E7 with USB OTG cable works.
the ever astounding HRT Microstreamer will work, and it kicks the living crap out of a Fiio any day
I've used with a Topping TP30 and been very happy when using stock ROM.
Unfortunately now I'm on CM11 and USB audio streaming doesn't work. That's the price you pay for playing around with other ROMs.

Hi guys,
Has anyone else been able to output music via an aux cable?
I've tried 2 different cables which work with other phones and had no luck!
Also, an in car charger(cigarette lighter > mini usb) doesnt work either - again, works for other phones?!
Any help would be appreciated!

Same problem here. Bought 2 aux cable no sound when I use my Z2 but other phone works. My thoughts is about the Z2 Waterproof thingy just a guess. So if anyone found a fix on this let us know.
Thanks!
I have no issue with AUX. maybe something has to do with the car?

I'll give this one a try. I'll update you guys soon and Thanks!
Hi guys,
I'm actually having the same problem with you. I have tried different cables and cigarette lighter adapters on different cars.
I can confirm that neither charging nor aux cable works for me on the following cars: Mercedes C180, Renault Clio, Honda CRV, Ford Focus.
However, both the aux and charging magically worked on a Land Rover Defender (1973), connected to a mediocre Pioneer player. Also I do get a tiny bit of charge from the Merc's USB player port, probably for powering usb memory sticks, or players. But it is so slow it just slows the battery depleting rather than charging (better than nothing on a very long road trip I suppose, but I worry that it might hurt the battery in the long run)
I also do not get any music, if I use anything else than Sony's Walkman app when connected via Bluetooth. So i suspect this might be a software problem (perhaps to do with "throw" ?)
Anybody found a solution to these problems? Do any of you guys run the Z2 with a custom rom? if so, which one? because I'm thinking about installing a custom rom to see if that will help?
Also working fine for me. I use it daily with Viper 4 Android sound mod on stock and stock based Roms. D6503

Hi guys,
I hate to resurrect such an old topic. I don't know if any of the other people are still using their Z2, or moved on to another device. I've recently had to replace my 3.5mm jack because it died on me. Would not work with headphones, let alone an aux cable on a car. Turns out, a replaced 3.5mm jack fixed the problem for me. So unfortunately, it is highly likely that we're having a hardware issue (something perhaps you guys can get checked out through Sony).
I have no updates on the 12V charging issue. My phone charges all ok up until it hits %30-50 (depending on how many amps the 12V charger is), than it acts as if there is a loose contact.
I hope this helps some of you people.
My old Samsung Galaxy S 2 had an audio accessories option provided by Samsung to enable USB audio output, despite it not being natively supported until recently, in lollipop.
I was just curious as to whether anyone's managed to enable the feature on the alpha. I'm presuming the feature will return when the lollipop update comes for the alpha, but kinda need it for my car radio in the short term.
Thanks.
I will try in the morning with the fiio e18 USB dac/amp. It should work out of the box
It works with stock firmware but I got some electronic noise as soon as I connected the dac with the phone. I will try to install a fresh firmware to see if it's a problem with my mainboard, drivers or something else. I'll be back
With fiio e 18 the noise is present at 0 volume from amplifier, even after firmware update. So..it could be my mainboard fault or general power circuit fault. BUT USB AUDIO OUT IS WORKING ON EXYNOS ALPHA WITH STOCK FIRMWARE. ( if you play music the noise is missing or is covered by song).
I am using my Alpha with Fiio E18... It will recognized the DAC immediately when you turn it on... stock rom no root...
I also didn't have any hiss or noise with my Alpha + Fiio E18... Very satisfied with the sound quality...

Yes. If you are using a good quality headphones, while plugging it to the phone, you will realize that Alpha does provide a very good sound quality.... but with using DAC like E18, the result is unbelievable...
You will get eargasm for sure... The sound quality is very much better...
Maybe is a problem with my e18 or the cable. I will try with another cable.
Haven\t gotten around to actually buy one of these yet and I need the verification that one of these babies can handle system/wide external DAC via USB.
So, anyone out there who has an answer?
Cheers!
Did any testing?
I am looking for the same answer.
Seems not
I've got a P9000, about 6 months old, just got a Fiio Q1, and it doesn't seem to recognise it at all.
I know the Q1 and cable are fine, since it works straight off with a new HTC M10.
Cheers
Greg.
I don't know if a audio interface counts as a DAC, but will chime in.
Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 is recognized by system, audio playback is fine
Tested with Sporify, stock Music app, and Twitch app.
Calls are a bit buggy
Connected via a ultra cheap usb 3 OTG from Ali
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has had trouble with the FIIO Q1 DAC. My Z2 does not recognize the DAC connect via my OTG cable. If I reboot the device and start playing music and then plug the device in. Only then may the DAC be recognized. But its more miss than hit.
Should I unplug the DAC and try connect it again it will not connect until I reboot the device and try again. Was wondering if anyone has had similar issues and if there is a fix.
This issue persists on 5.0.2 -> 6.0.1

I once was at a huge meetup with a bunch of audiophiles and tried the FiiO Q1 for myself. (Great DAC/Amp btw). Anyways, it works flawlessly on my Z2. (on eXistenZ 6.0.1). Only guess is to try and factory reset? I mean it worked even if I played music then plugged it in, or plug it in first then play music.

Thanks for the response. I have tried all that except for custom roms. I have a couple of different OTG cables on order.... I am hoping that I may just have a crappy cable.
Hi there, I don't have the original UsbC to Jack adapter that Xiaomi include and I am looking a way to connect my Jack headphones to the Mi9. Any suggestions ? I have a budget of 20 $ more or less. I like to have a "pro" DAC and connect it via OTG but I think all are too expensive, anyone can recommend a good and cheap dongle UsbC to Jack?
Thanks
The Google store sells a Pixel USB-C audio dongle well within your budget.
Tempotec Sonata HD or maybe iBasso DC01 or DC02 but its a bit over your budget.

iBasso DC01 using AK4493 dac ship and 2.5mm full balanced output
Sonata HD using Cirrus Logic CS42L42 dac ship and 3.5mm single ended output
I have both and they're doing really good job for it's price.
