Galaxy Note 10.1 stuck on "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear all.
First of all, thanks for your attention, I really appreciate.
I have a GNote 10.1 Wi-Fi version (N8013) with stock Android 4.1.
My S-Pen was getting me crazy, because I was not able to use it correctly on the edges of the device. I tried an app that supposed to reset the alignment, but I did not work, so I googled and found that the only way to fix it was "factory reseting" the tablet.
So, I installed the TeamWin recovery and backed up my data. After that I hit the button "reboot". But before rebooting, the recovery screen "told me" that I was not rooted and "asked" if I would like to install SuperSU to get root access. I checked YES and rebooted.
After that I got stucked at the "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen (see attached file).
I've tried to switch off the note, but the screen goes off for one second and it lights up again at the same screen.
If I plug the USB cable and try to switch it off, the note goes to the battery charging screen. If I remove the USB and push the power button again, the tablet gets back to the "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen.
Odin seems to "connect" with the tablet.
I can enter both the download mode and the recovery mode (not the teamwin recovery).
Attached pictures of what I get.
Any sugestions?
Thanks!!!

Everything is ok now
Dear all,
Hope I can help you if you have a problem similar to mine.
I remembered that a PC with no OS stops on some screen, but everything else works, just as what was happening with my note.
I tought that I might have wiped more things than I should, so, the only thing I had to do was to restore the backup that I had.
To do this I should reinstall the TWRP and the only way was via Odin.
Solved the problem this way:
1. Downloaded the Odin (http://techbeasts.com/2013/08/08/download-odin-pc-latest-version-v-3-07/)
2. Downloaded the TWRP file (http://techerrata.com/get/twrp2/p4noterf/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.1.0-p4notewifi.tar)
3. Connected the Galaxy Note to my PC using the USB cable
4. Entered the "download mode"
5. Loaded the file from step 2 into the tablet using Odin
6. Rebooted the tablet
7. Entered the recovery mode (TWRP was working)
8. Restored the backup that I had
9. Rebooted again
Did the dance of victory!!!
I am so glad to have my device back.
Regards

@ agelcer: Was your tablet rooted?

Hello. I havea similar problem with my note 2 phone. It will not get past the
samsung screen. My cpu knowledge is very limited. Are you open to accepting payment for attempting to fix my cell phone? All I want is the pictures off of it if that is all you can do to it. Pleass email me at [email protected] if you or anyone you know can help. Thanks....Jay

Same thing is happening to mine. I tried Odin but after the download the srceen goes black and then comes back to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 screen.

Hello folks.
Same problem here with a n8000.
It had the stock unrooted rom probably JellyBean.
Can only access Download Mode, nothing else.
I get connection to Odin, tried to flash original firmware, 4 file firmware, re-partition with pit file, flash a custom recovery, all seem to pass through but nothing changes, still stuck on 'Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1' screen, never moves on to boot animation and still can't access Recovery Mode.
However, something else I triy with Odin and it FAILS is ticking 'Nand Erase All'. It won't let me erase nand.
Could this mean some kind of memory corruption?
Does it have anything to do with EMMC?
If it does, is there a possible way to fix without replacing the hardware?
What else can I try before giving up?
It would be nice if other users who report this problem attempt to Nand Erase All and see if it also FAILS..
Thanks alot and sorry for the long post.
Edit: after posting I found this which is PROBABLY THE SOLUTION for me.
And here is another topic on this issue.

did you find the solution?

I assumed from my searches the solution would be JTAG or replace the EMMC.
Since I don't have the resources for any of those, I just abandoned it to the dust and rust..

I'm not very clear about bootloader upgrading, but I guess it was included in the 4 file firmware I tried flashing and it said 'success' but nothing changed..
I think it ain't just a softbrick since I can't erase nand..
What's your background, osirisx69?

This happened to ours as well just today. Unplugged it rebooted it and it's stuck. Can only access the Odin mode.

what was the last update you did to your tab? any app or tweak?
I once had a similar problem but doing a wipe/factory reset from the recovery menu seemed to fix it for me and I've had no problems since.
Ok thanks, I just did a factory reset and now its back to normal.
How do you do a Factory Wipe and reset? I cannot get mine to take the ClockworkMod Recovery.... I have tried many times to install it and Odin says that it was successful but when I try to boot into the CWM... All I get is the USB fastboot or Odin again... any suggestions? If you have fastboot that means your tab is Google I/O tab. So i believe the method may be different to install CWM for you. Google it
Hi guys! Can you give me a tip? Since yesterday my tab got caught in a boot loop. Didn't made any changes, just went into it. I have rooted it a long time ago. I can't get into recovery mode by holding power+up. All I can get it the download mode that first says "waiting for usb cable" and if I connect it to the PC it goes to "press the [START] of Odin3". Do I need to try the fastboot method and reset it to factory details? I've being trying to do that but no devices were listed... Or do I need to reflash something with oding again? Please, just give me a tip.

Hey nightrave
I got caught in a bootloop the other day after updating to 3.2 from 3.1, my tab was rooted and running the starburst ROM. When I rebooted it it keeped getting stuck on the logo screen, and my device wasn't being recognized when I plugged it into my PC. I found a file online for the stock 3.1 firmware and flashed it using Odin and it got it out of the boot loop. If you can't go into CWM to flash a rom or do a recovery I would try using ODIN to flash the firmware your device was on. I ended up flashing the firmware for 3.2 the same way and the Galaxy Task 10 ROM. Let me know if that helps
app not working
i downloaded an app and it was working fine for a few days and now when i go use it i get an error msg and it kicks me out of the app. ive deleted and reinstalled app a few times but it still does it. what do i do?
Did u try goin on rom manager and clicking fix permissions.. its suppose to fix any force close issues, not sure if that would work.
I was able to fix my issue by installing a 3.2 rom. My tablet is not bricked anymore
Getting a com.android.phone error now but i'm trying to figure it out.

[Q] Galaxy Tab 10.1 Stuck in Boot Loop

Hello everyone,
My Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500 is stuck in a boot loop which only shows "Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1" on screen. I've tried pressing the power button to power down the device, but the screen will just go blank for a while and then the "Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1" will show again. There is no way for me to go into download mode.
Any way to solve this problem?
I've tried and tried and finally got into download mode, used Odin to install a kernel. Everything runs OK, until it reboots. Then I see the logo again for awhile, suddenly it powers off, then unable to switch on anymore. I think the battery is dead, will try later after it is charged up.
Nobody seems to care about the issue I've face.
Anyways, been trying out all the solutions that I can find all around XDA, it turns out only "restocking" can solve my problem.
Re-flashed my tablet following the guide at Team Overcome's site.
Maybe these instructions will help
a while ago i got my tablet stuck in bootloop... after a lot of research... i fixed it and put the step by step here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329261
Let me know if it helps!
You should get a USB jig. It'll jump you into download mode. Unless that tablet doesn't use the mini usb... Which it might not. If you have a custom recovery on there, then wipe data, then install a new ROM

Hi - will a "USB jig " help me with my problem, or do you have any Suggestions?
I was flashing stock 4.0.4 ICS via Odin and unfortunately I walked away from my computer for a quick minute ... and my 3 year decided to unplug the tablet. I previously had CWM v.5???? - now I can see the download screen, then get to the OS warning screen.
Then when it says to hit volume up to continue and down to cancel ... I hit volume up and it goes into bootloop and when I hit down it goes into download load but Odin doesn't recognize it.
Note : I have to hit the opposite volume to even get into download mode.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
if im not wrong you can restore with kies, emergency firmware ....... or something like that, did you try?

[Q]Help! Verizon i905 will not boot up.

I know there has been other treads about this before but none of the suggestions seemed to work for me. I searched and searched and I'm just not finding a fix. I hate to do these posts when an easy answer is right there but I just can't figure it out and it's killing me. So here it is:
I just got this Verizon Galaxy Tab that would not come on - only showed the battery charging icon. I just charged it over night and it came on once. However, processes kept shutting down. For instance, when I went into settings and tried to connect to my wifi network, the whole process would just close down. So I let it get to about 40% and reboot it to download mode (there was no recovery). I found the correct .tar file for it and flashed it with ODIN3 v1.85. It completed successfully but now it won't boot past the Samsung splash screen. Once the splash screen comes up, it will just go back to the large battery charging icon in the middle of the screen.
Then I tried the other option where you get into recovery and nothing happens at all. The screen is backlit black (you can just see light around the edges of the screen) and nothing ever happens.
So now, it's just charging but it seems to charge very slowly. I was wondering if this is a battery issue or some strange sequence that needs to be done. It seems to be at about 40% again. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
These are other things I've tried:
hold the power button down for 30 seconds
Hold the power button down while touching the screen
More suggestions would be appreciated.
Now the tablet is fully charged but it still gets stuck on the splash screen when trying to boot up. Still have no recovery. Also, I'm not able to find a PIT file to re-partition. Can someone tell me how to get the stock recovery back at least? I've been looking but I can't find a file to flash for the recovery.
Same problem
Hi, I have the same issue basically. I have the Galaxy Tab SGH i957D 8.9 (TELUS) and flashed it to root last night, now I have the same problem. Except I have CWM installed, I was able to install that AFTER I locked it up. Help from one of the GURUs here would be great. It's obviously a problem caused by flashing it.
So try flashing with CWM, at least you'll have a good recovery on it. If we work together, we may be able to come up with a solution for our dilemma. I don't believe it;s a major problem, I had the same issue with my captivate phone when trying to CWM and Cyanogenmod, and I got it working perfectly, so there is hope.
I have tried the stock rom, rooted rom, and a couple of others, but still can;t get past the splash screens. Left it overnight trying to boot, and all it did was kill the battery. I can;t even turn it off, it just reboots every time I try shutting down. I CAN get to download and recovery mode though, and flash it all I want with Odin 3.7 and 1.83, just never boots past the splash screens.

Thanx for the reply. As you can see, I've been around these forums for a long time and usually I'm able to work it out but this one has got me stumped. Just wanted to ask you if you have tried to flash a custom ROM in Clockwork? Also, did you go through unlocking the boot loader befor you flashed it? I did not because I received the tablet in this condition. I tried to flash clockwork mod but I get an "invalid file" error in Odin. Once I flashed the stock recovery and it worked fine. But after reflashing the stock rom, the stock recovery is gone now. Do you have a link to the files you used? I'm thinking that the stock recovery is messed up but I can only find that one file.
no I haven't tried flashing through CWM, as I wasn't trying to flash originally, I was just rooting and going easy on it, then it wouldn't boot, so I wasn't prepared and now can't add files to my SD drive.
I didn't unlock the boot, as none of the instructions I read mentioned it (rooting was all I was trying to do).
I don't even have a stock recovery either, all I have is CWM and TWRP.
I'm going to try mounting it in Linux and see if that makes any difference to put roms on my SD drive, as windows doesn't like it anymore, except through Odin, where luckily it seems to work fine... For now.. lol
Fixed!!!

I'm glad you got the right firmware and fixed your tab! But this site does not list a firmware for the SCH–i905 anywhere. Unless the Verizon Galaxy tab has an alternate model# there is no firmware on the site for my device. Oh well, at least one of us got tablets fixed. Congrats!
Download mode issue.
What recommendations do you guys have for a tablet that will not recognize in download mode?
I accidently flashed a bootloader and had auto reboot on - couldnt flash kernel and modem in time.
My tablet fully boots up, (rom manager says cwm is installed) as well as when i boot into recovery its completely black.
My main concern is that download mode is not recognized. it was previously working prior to installing the bootloader.
What can i do to fix this issue?

Can you start by giving as much info as possible about your tab, make model# etc.
can you actually get into download mode? Power button and Volume down button till it boots then release pwr.
you may have bad drivers on your pc. I had this problem with my phone when I installed CM.
get into DL mode and then start Odin and hopefully you will see the Com port attached.
then in PDA load the stock rom for your tab.
hopefully at this point youll be all set.
if your tab is fully functional, then try just flashing CWM or TWPR to your tab. I found with mine that CWM works best. I like TWP better for looks and the touchscreen functionality, but I found it gets a bit flaky after a few flashes, where CWM seems more stable.
SHAWNDH...
give me all your info for your tab, make, model.. carrier etc. as much as you can, and I will see if I can find any stock roms while doing my searches. 2 sets of eyes are better than one...

I can get into download mode without any issues, but now download mode says "waiting for cable" and is not recognized by pc as it once was prior to the flash.

I can get into android normally, but cant fix firmware through download mode, and recovery.

I don't get it. First, you can't flash a kernel using Odin. Second, your tab won't even be able to boot without the kernel.

If you can get into DL mode, then its probably just an issue of drivers on your pc. Download the samsung drivers and reinstall.
Then put your tab in dl mode. Then connect to the pc with cable, try a different usb port than before.
Then start odin, if you get the Com port showing up in the status box, then flash CWM recovery to the tab. Then start over with what you are trying to do. But I can almost garantee its an issue with drivers on your pc. I had the exact same problem with my phone when I did it,
and fixing drivers was the issue. I wss stumped for a long time on that issue. If that doesnt work, look into Heimdall flash utility or Kies and go from there.
Hope this helps. Or at least gets you on the right track.

dont think its a driver issue.
it was working fine in download mode prior to me flashing a bootloader.bin, and yes you can flash a kernel.bin through odin, as well as a modem.bin.
I was in the process of installing cwm this way when it happened.
I can get into the os, i can get adb working fine, recovery is just a black screen though it goes into it. and i can get into download mode still, just stuck at "waiting for cable" no interaction with device manager

Ive tried another pc as well. I dont believe its a driver issue as there is 0 interaction in download mode with device manager. but prior it easily was detected in odin no issues.

Ok... Im getting confused here... You Can still flash with Odin? Then you can install a new recovery on it. If device manager on the pc is not working, then you probably have a corrupt install, or the wrong rom file for your particular tab, and the usb drivers arent correct for your tablet.
Personally, I would start by downloading a stock rom file and return the tab to factory before starting anything, so you have it working as it should before continuing further.
If you DO HAVE a stock rom, maybe you could pass it along, i believe shawndh who started this thread is in need of one for the same tablet.
confusion fixed

Personally, I would start by downloading a stock rom file and return the tab to factory before starting anything, so you have it working as it should before continuing further.

I cannot currently get download mode to recognize anything. just keeps saying "waiting for cable" thats why i cant do anything in download mode. It was currently working prior to flashing the bootloader through odin with the "auto reboot" accidentally clicked.

Oh... Well then it is beyond the scope of any problem I have encountered, or seen a solution to. I thought you could still connect in download mode.
Can you change usb debugging mode in tablet settings, that may enable you to connect? If not I dont think I personally can help, as your posts read like you could still use Odin.
On my phone, (galaxy S) nothing would connect after I messed up, but could do things with Heimdalls utility. See if you can connect with that. Worth a try, it does the same as Odin, but connects differently somehow.

i even went as far as getting a brand new cable to see if it was my cable still same thing. No response in download mode for either pc's ive tried.
little stumped....
possible clues: when tablet boots up, it boots up to a bright black screen, only once it completely boots up am i able to see my display properly.

Thanx for the reply. I have the SCH-i905 32gb Galaxy 10.1 tab. The carrier is Verizon. I've spent days looking for another download source but I can only find one - there's a link from this site. Others have posted that it did restore their devices so I'm thinking that there are some bad clusters that need to be quarantined but I can't even find a tool for the Galaxy Tab that will do or check for that. I'd appreciate it if you could take a look though. Thanx.

Are you connecting to a USB port that is on the motherboard of your computer? Mine will only recognize my tablet with one port. The other ports are not recognized at all by ODIN.

I don't think its a cluster issue, just a bad flash previously. But you'll see from the link, yours is also known as the P4vzw. Well check the link and make sure that's your tab that I found. Then have a look at ALL the files for that tab.
Have you seen/tried this one... here's the thread STOCK ROM FOR YOUR TAB...
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342995
Here's just the file.
http://goo.gl/XPMXv
Try flashing CWM recovery to your tab, and try a file from cyanogenmod
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/P4vzw_Info
Or just try the CM ROM first maybe and see what happens. I don't remember what you have for recovery. There are a bunch on there, but all nightly that I saw, but even that would be better than nothing for now if it works.
I'm still looking, but I know what you're saying about few and far between. I think they all are for the tabs. Let you know if I find anything else.
Another mod ROM. http://www.teamandroid.com/2012/08/...tab-101-sch-i905-android-411-aosp-jelly-bean/

[Q] I-9300 bootloop and no recovery

Hello,
I have a S3 which is stuck in a bootloop at the samsung logo.
when i turn it on it shows the logo for some seconds then the screen goes black and the logo re-appears.
i can not boot into recovery mode, but download mode is working without a problem every time.
i tried flashing stock firmwares with odin and also tried kies emergency firmware recovery. the flashing always went without any problem, but it had effect. whatever i try, i am never able to boot into recovery and still stuck in the bootloop.
in some tries after flashing the screen just shows the samsung logo forever, but after rebooting it once it then is stuck in a bootloop again (shows the logo - screen goes black - shows the logo...)
i also tried flashing TWRP and CWM via odin, but again i can never boot into recovery mode.
what should i try next?
thx alot for any helpful comment

You can Try this:
1.) Pull out battery
2.) Put it in again
3.) Press Vol up + home + power
4.) When the Samsung Logo appears let it off
I think you press the Buttons too long.
I had the same problem!

i really tried everything, it's not working. btw with i am stuck at the very first image, where it says "samsung Galaxy sII GT-I9300".
i dont think it's just the way i press the buttons because i can reach it on my s1 and s2 without a problem, it's just not working on this device.
could some setting like "nand erase all" in odin help? in other threads there is sometimes mentioned that the internal file system might be screwed up and in those cases a simple odin reflash does not help anymore...
Nand erase will usually hard brick it. Try the rescue firmware from general forum, sticky thread. Follow the guide exactly as it includes a pit file.

thx, but i already did that (multiple times) and flashing via odin always succeeds. then the phone reboots and is stuck at the first samsung galaxy s.. screen. twice i managed somehow to get into recovery (after flashing cwm6) but it then randomly rebooted.
and i dont think that the power button is stuck because when i am in download mode it is perfectly fine it never reboots itself unexpectedly.
Had a similar issue on my tab2 p3100. It all happened when I tried flashing a custom recovery from rom manager.
A bad flash of anything related to recovery or bootloader could be a probable cause.
I remember a knowledge share on one of the threads describing this issue and as mentioned on it all I had to do is this:
1) switch off the device and plug in the charger. This would light up the display showing you the charging status. The status has to show if at least your bootloader part of the phone is fine.
2) plug out the charger and immediately press the three buttons (home + vol up + power) get into recovery mode. This step has to work and help you get to recovery mode.
***Note : the interval within which this step has to be performed is too short since the display would turn off immediately as soon as you plug out the charger. A bit tricky too so you have to be fast. If this misses getting you into recovery, pull out the battery and put it back again. Repeat step1 and 2 again.
3) upon successfully getting into recovery, perform wipe data, cache and select reboot phone from option available on recovery again.
Allow the device to boot. This could take a while since you have performed a data wipe and may prompt for first time set up.
I was able to restore functionality on my tab after these steps and like ppl learn from their mistakes, I then learnt that recoveries and bootloaders are things that needs to be done with a pc only.
Worth a try if you have tried other alternatives and found no go. may help. Who knows..
all the best.
thats also not working. i tried to get into recovery since two days now...
i also tried the steps from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/solved-pit-bricked-dead-problem-gt-t2535367
but again, after i flash the cf-root (successfully) the phone does neither boot into recovery by itself nor can i do it by hand...
its crazy... in download mode i can see the model number (GT-I9300) and i thought as long as the model number is there and i can enter download mode there should be a way to recover the device.
but i cannot think of anything to try that i have not done yet
If the rescue firmware didn't help then it looks like the emmc chip is damaged.

is there a way to make certain of this? how can i tell if it is really a hardware damage and not just a software brick?
i just dont want to let the phone go, it looks still so shiny
is there anything else that could cause the phone not booting into recovery mode after flashing custom recoveries?

Same here, still didn't found how to fix it.. I guess our motherboard just died..
Howewer I have a solution that "almost" worked for me.
Get a stock firmware in odin and turn on Nand erase and T-flash
When it's done phone reboots and you'll see just "Downloading..." mode when you turn it on.
Then got to Kies and Select firmware recovery...
Enter s/n and model name and wait for the flash to complete.
With it , I got past boot logo and actually booted into android but the phone crashed because I guess I have a memory issue..
Well , gl. If you don't find anything else helpful , try going with this method..

[Q] Help with my S3 Rooting Problem

Good day, everyone! I would like to ask for help from all of you - I am truly desperate.
I tried to root my phone yesterday, anyway, here are the facts:
Model: Samsung Galaxy S3 (International/i9300)
Software used: Odin3, v 1.85
When I connected my phone, it was detected, and started flashing my phone. It was set to reboot automatically after flashing. The PASS! box appeared at the upper left side of the ODIN software, then the phone reboots. The "Samsung Galaxy SIII i9300" logo shows up, followed by a screen which shows several things, like SD card marker, installing SU, etc.
After both these screens, the boot logo appears again, then is followed by a black screen. In my laptop, the "USB Device detected" sound is heard, and when you detach the phone, the "USB device removed" sound is heard. I can still see the device via Odin. Even the phone software installs. However, there is only a black screen.
I tried recovery mode, CWM screen shows up. I tried Wiping Data, Wiping Cache, Wiping Dalvik Cache, but still, I can't seem to get past the boot logo.
I can pretty much open Download Mode and Recovery Mode.
What would be your diagnosis? And what possible solution can you suggest? Thank you, and more power!
Maybe try Odin3 v3.07
That's what I use and has always worked. Also, don't detach your USB cable when u hear USB attached sound. Rather wait for 5 minutes after that.
If it gets stuck at the Samsung logo, reboot to recovery and wipe dalvik and cache
@Neferpitou: wrong rootkernel probably. Use CF-Autoroot. If this doesn't succeed, go back to actual firmware (from sammobile.com), then root again.

Can you refer another website where I can download such? SamMobile offers 15kb/s download speed for 900+ MB worth of data.
Well I saw something here which has this file: GT-I9300XXUGMJ9_KOR_FACTORY.zip, I believe it's a rescue data. Will it suffice?

I' ve no crystal ball, sorry. But don't flash anything you don't understand: big chance to brick your phone..
PROBLEM SOLVED
I re-installed an Official ROM and it worked!
Thanks everyone!
