Location of app data in KitKat? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the data from an app backup that used to go in android/obb. Now that location seems to have changed, as the app is able to save data but isn't using the obb folder. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

What backup app are you using? Or are you talking about an app that gives you the option to backup and restore its own data? In that case, I'd have a look on your SD card as well.

I used mybackup pro. I'm able to manually restore by copying the com.blahblah.whatever to /sdcard/android/obb on jelly bean. In kit Kat, this folder doesn't seem to be used..
Copying the files to that folder doesn't do anything and I am able to use the app normally, so there has to be another folder somewhere for app data. I've looked in every folder on the SD card and haven't found anything related to the app. Which is Bloons TD5 BTW... xD

Apps usually have their data in /data/data/ or /sdcard/Android/
You need root to access /data/data/

[Q] How do I backup my /data?

Just as the title asks, what way can i backup my /data folder on my phone?
This app can do:
http://download547.mediafire.com/q29mmmao8urg/1mnp840xlv9v6qq/App2Card_2.9.6_26June11.apk
Ive been using it for long time instead of Titanium backup to backup not only files, folders but also apps with settings. All you need is Data Tools/Backup/files, folders, just select the desired item
Hope that help

Im getting a "Failed to Backup" error when trying to backup, anyone else having this problem when trying to backup the file /data on the root of my phone. I have root access and when i launch the app, su is allowing it root access. I might try uninstall, reinstall, reboot.
Edit: Simple Mistake and fix, needed a larger SD card. Thanks flusshd!

I dont think so, but I think your sd card is not enough of space for this big /data, its more than 2GB. Did you check for this?

Can't install titanium backup, not enough storage, use root explorer but can't find t

hi guys,,
I have a problem here...so here it is..
I wanted to install titanium backup but I could do it, it says I didn't have enough storage. Of course, I have more than enough. So, use root explorer, go to system/data/app/ and search for a file with titanium backup odex extension and want to delete it., but the strange thing is I can't find any titanium backup odex..
so what should I do?
Apps you install go to /data/app and there is no odex file. Thats only for system apps.

You mean without using a backup-ing app?
Well, its possible. First you need to locate the apk installation location whether its in Internal memory or SD card. Grab the apk, and regarding the data files, you can get it from the /data folder. Just check for the package name, as it is installed with reference to package names (For Eg: com.google.talk)
AW: Backup
App data is stored under /data/data

There is also an adb command. I have never used it though....

If you are not rooted, then you should root.
If you are rooted, then using a root browser (you can use es file explorer) go to data/app an you will find your app there. Now copy it to your sd card or somewhere so you can use it
Simply Use myappsharer from market

On the root of the phone (in root explorer) go into mnt, and then asec. Then find the folder, open it and the apk is there. If not, move the app to the SD card in settings then try.

I dont think he should be rooted to copy anything FROM internal memory. Root is only required to copy TO internal memory.
False.
If you just want to look at your internal memory with all the system folders, you need root. Without root you can't even view that folder
Yes you are correct. My mistake
Use "App backup and restore" app to backup the required app and then share it....

Don't know if it will work or even if it is acceptable,
Add an account in google play, (your dads account)
Now u may get the privilage to download it as its already paid.
Delete the accpunt
Don't forget to hit thanks
Install an app named "Clean Master"
Its free from play store
Just install it and start taking backups of your favourite apps from your father's phone....
Enjoy...

You guys... I don't think its allowed to discuss about transferring paid apks (warez) on xda. :sly:
Correct me if I am wrong.
Simply buy it. Warez is not tolerated on XDA and shouldn't be discussed.

Can't uninstall modded play store

I installed the modded playstore on my Stock Galaxy S4 ROM so I could disable self-updates, but it didn't work. When I went to uninstall the cracked play store launcher, it still said I had the cracked play store. I used TBP to restore the play store/google services framework to an older point and then I wiped the Delvik cache, but when I rebooted it said I still had the cracked version.
I have ClockworkMod recovery but I didn't do a nandroid backup before I installed the cracked play store, and I don't want to factory reset my phone. Any help?
First download system app removed and remove the play store and then download the latest version of the play store from the internet

I have Titanium Backup Pro. Could I use that to wipe the data and then download it online? Would that screw up anything since it's a system app?

Thanks! It worked, although it still says that there's a custom patch on my phone available for the playstore. But at least I have the uncracked version again.
Also for some reason my SideBar Plus app is freaking out now.
Errr...actually the play store isn't working now. It keeps saying it's stopped.
Plz try my method which was :
