download twrp for the shooter version 2.6.3.0 or .1 ....study study study....yourre already unlocked and s-off.....all you need to do is fastboot flash recovery "whatever-recovery".img...command prompt will inform you of successful write......reboot into recovery and backup your device and flash the latest supersu or custom rom zip. when you boot back into android if stock with supersu binary, install/update to the latest SuperSU app from the market
some guys like 4ext, I'm a Twrp guy...think it mostly depends on the rom and file structure you plan on using. It's best to search and understand these things

Do you have fastboot installed on your computer? do you know how to fastboot install a recovery?
adb installed? you'll need to do the basic legwork to have a proper adb/fastboot environment
i know you sent private message but you might as well leave answers here for the next guy since you have this thread open. And honestly no one is going to be able to help you if you dont follow the instructions that exist and have the environment set up correct. Youre already S-off and Unlocked, do you know what that means? if not keep reading buddy

[Q] EVO 3D Unlocked but unable to root

Hi Guys,
I just got my EVO 3d Today. Am really excited needless to say.
Ive managed to unlock the boot loader using the official HTC Bootloader unlock tool(Since my software version was 1.20). Now it says unlocked but still has "S ON". Been going crazy for hours now trying to root it. Even tried going into recovery but just get an error symbol.
Would appericiate if anyone can tell me how to go about it or point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.

Yes i am on 2.3.4 and my evo3d is a gsm phone.
Totally lost here.
Umm... you need to flash a recovery through fast boot...the red triangle means you don't have one... also if you are unlocked push su through adb and you should have root. I never used HTC official unlock but have rooted several phones... after you unlock the bootloader you push su and flash a recovery

from my understanding, once you use the htc unlock method you can't get s-off for now, until theres an exploit found. I followed a vid on htcevohacks.com and got mine rooted using 2.3.4 but I stil have s-on... not sure if it even matters because i can still go into recovery and flash roms.

Installing ICS - Is this the right procedure?

Would this be the right procedure? I was reading the wiki and want to ask..
I would do the following...
(I am rooted; BulletProof 2.5.. Android 2.3.4 - Tmobile)
1) Follow this tutorial to unroot and get back to stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27058110&postcount=44
2) Follow this tutorial to install ICS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26865752&postcount=27
3) AND...Then... I will be unrooted..
How would I root again on ICS?
So is this the right procedure??
and what would I do for (#3)?

You don't necessarily need to use my OTA tutorial if you're gonna restore to complete stock GB, then you can just download the file via the software update option on your phone and let it install the update itself, the guy above answered your final question already.

, go for it then. If you're on tmobile, there's a file that can be used as a PH85IMG to update instead, that may be a bit easier if the OTA is iffy.

Yes unfortunately bc don't you need a recovery like cwm or 4ext to flash super user? Anyways you should s off. Makes everything super easy.

Lol at needing my approval, about time you started being confident in what you say dude, you've messed with your own device, you should know which was better for you in your opinion, your opinion matters since you did do it and you know the benefits personally.
Ok, I can give S-OFF another try.. but last time I tried and I was in this rom: "BulletProof 2.5" , it did not work.... so from experience of you guys, what rom have people been the most sucessful getting S-OFF??

Relocked is the same and when attempting s-off, stock rooted rom is a better call, it saves you the hassle that custom roms may cause.
I mean the MD5 sums fail on both PHP8img w/e name... and the nand backup to restore to original ginger garbage.. so I think it's because I have to relock my bootloader by doing OEM_lock or whatever the command is.
do I have to lock bootloader to go back to stock?
and also.. do I need to flash the original kernel?
come on.. someone answer me please... I will make a REALLY good tutorial noob proof for everyone else when I finish doing this.

I was also having problems with my downloads so I downloaded thru my phone. I also found that I had better luck downloading straight from football's account on file factory. You can find his account on stock roms collection page 5 snargaflab post where it says "here"
Hope this helps, as far as locking bootloader when s on I think you do have to lock bootloader. If nobody is helping I suggest you try it out.

Lock your bootloader via the fastboot oem lock command or use hasoon's tool to do it,
download this file here: http://d-h.st/3VD
Place that on your sd card and rename it PH85IMG do not place it in any folders, etc.
Reboot into hboot via the volume down/power button method, when your hboot finds the file, hit volume up to update, phone will reboot on it's own. You're on ICS.
Unlock your bootloader, install 4ext recovery via hasoon's tool and hit the Perm root ICS/GB option, follow all on screen instructions.
All done, official ICS and you're now rooted as well.

How can i root my htc evo 4g lte on 2.13?

Hey guys im looking to get help and a tutorial on how to root the 4g lte on 2.13? I've searched online but still haven't found an answer to my question. So if you are reading this let me know how to root it thanks.
Your only option is to use the htcdev.com method. You cannot get s-off though.

You've already been given a couple links with step-by-step guides.
I suggest reading this guide first to help you understand the terminology better: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869377
Then if you have any specific questions please let us know. Saying simply that "you still don't know what to do" after being given a couple of direct links to guides will get you nowhere.

Unlocking your bootloader using HTCDev Unlock will allow you to flash a custom recovery. With a custom recovery, obtaining root is easy (plenty of flashable ZIPs for this). This has nothing to do with your version of HBOOT (or firmware or OTA version).
Read the guide I linked to above and it will answer these questions...

I am on the same version. I just unlocked the bootloader via HTCDEV and installed TWRP through fastboot. Then I installed ROM that was already rooted. Worked great, just sucks with our new HBOOT not being able to achieve S-OFF. Not a huge deal but I love flashing between ROMS that require me to flash kernels through fastboot and not fond of the extra step (Between Sense and AOSP roms that is)

Not to speak for him, but all he is saying that since you are S-ON u need to flash kernel (boot.img) separately when u flash roms for it to install correctly without bootloops.
There are a number of ways to do it. The new mean rom has an auto kernel installer so u don't have to do it separately. U can also use flashGUI apk available on the market to do it, but make sure u learn how to use fastboot command prompt before doing so.
Lurk some, you will find it if you search forums. I am S-off, so I am not familiar with any off top of my head. Sure any rom u want to install will have at least 30 posts about people whining the rom didn't take bc they're S-ON and have to be redirected to another link.

It is not possible right now to have s-off w/ hboot 1.19. It is a possibility in the future that it could happen, but you really don't need it if you learn how to manage with S-ON. S-off really only eliminates a couple minutes at most to flash kernel is all. Plus to flash New radios you need to relock and run RUU for latest firmware which will also update your hboot on S-ON.
A few headaches, but nothing you can't live with. Good luck.

[Q] Amaze boot loop please help!

Hi,
I have factory unlocked htc amaze, s-on. i've unlocked its bootloader and uses 4EXT recovery. i had GB before and never had ICS on it.
I flashed CM10 rom and for some reason it's stuck on boot loop and i can't get it out of it. i tried to reflash it couple of times but nothing helps.
it comes up and if i'm not touching anything (and it's on lock screen stat) it can last and not reboot. however, when i open the lock screen in about 5 sec it reboots itslef.
anyone has an idea what could be the issue and how to resolve it?
If you scroll down in Q&A you find answers. But it looks to me you have to restore from back up relock & flash an ruu to whatever flag ship your phone is on then ota ics then reunlock the phone. Use the search button trust me it helps alot.
thanks, I will.
I've just tried putting the official ICS , rename it PH85IMG.zip and let the phone do the work. i hope this will resolve the issue.
but should i re-lock the bootloader for it to work?

Lol for some reason it's stuck on boot loop. The reason was u didnt read.
Put the ph85img.zip on root of SD card. RELOCK BOOTLOADER. This should bring u back to a relocked bootloader. Flash the ph85img.zip from bootloader and u will be fine. Next time read thoroughly so your first 2 posts on XDA aren't as embarrassing like the guy above me said... There r threads everywhere about this

indeed i wasn't reading thoroughly and thanks a lot for your help however, i did tried what you said and it says model id is incorrect and the update failed. what could be the reason? is the file itself incorrect? I downloaded the file version for T-Mobile as i don't know which carrier is this. i bought the phone in US but not from one of the carriers and it doesn't have any brand on it.
do you think i should try a different ics version?

It won't flash because the ruu checks your CID and if your cid isn't in that carriers ruu then it won't let it work. I wonder if you open the ph85img.zip on your computer and added your cid to it if it would work. Not saying to do that cuz idk if it will or not lol. Try all the other ruu and see if any woork
You will most likely have to s-off and then superCID before u will be able to flash any of the ruu's, but start off by finding out what your CID is by downloading the file I attached and extract that zip on your computer. Now boot your phone into bootloader, then select fastboot.. now connect phone via USB to computer and then open the cid.bat file inside the CID folder. Once its done running, a file should appear in the CID folder called cidnumber.log or somethin like that. Post here what it says

i used the file your attached, and the log file says: "cid: HTC__044"
I'm relatively new to the whole thing. can you please explain what it means?

be sure to snoop around the android development area before asking. I think there's a few different links up. And you can always go to Cyanogen's website. they usually have the original RUU and proper instructions on how to do all of it.

I Could Only find it on XDA Chinas site. I don't believe we have ever had that RUU here.

U gotta register to download it, and be careful since its on a non English website and u have to depend on google translate. Use it at your own risk. Also I tried register to get the download link and I couldnt get it to work.
If I were you, I would just s-off your phone then super CID it and flash the tmo ruu or any other 1. Simple no prob

What I would do , not forcing you to do this, is to S-Off and change my CID to Super. Then flash a different carrieres ICS RUU. That's probably an easier way to get up to ICS speed.

Why were you trying to avoid it? It's actually pretty easy, and in the end will make other things easier too. Just make sure you read everything thoroughly, and if you aren't sure about something ask BEFORE you do it
