Maybe your phone is not the problem
Maybe it's your computer
1_try disabling your antivirus
2_update your lg driver and try again

theres a whole repository in the development section for stuff like this:

use gingerbreak 1.2
use the top right corner search function
otherwise downgrade to 2.2 and root using z4root

You need to root your phone first then flash custom ROM. Visit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301489 for rooting guide.

What version of the phone do you have? P769 has spanish available in language & input.
Go to Settings>Language and input, then select spanish

Just use unlockroot.com if u r in ICS. Make your driver works properly, install unlockroot and click root, and BINGO.. You have got your root access
