HSDPA and tethering issues - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all gurus!
Just purchased galaxy s5830i for tethering purposes only. I have HSDPA 21 Mbit/s connection and I get around 900kB/s to 2 MB/s download speed with my galaxy s3 gt-i9300 (cm11) via wifi or usb tethering. And with s5830i only around 650kB/s while it still supports and connects HSDPA. It does have stock rooted rom on it.
My question is how much CPU this kind of download speeds requires? Is my s5830i even capable of handling it? And how much cpu wifi / usb tethering requires? I dont wanna stick my s3 for that purpose.

[Q] Question about Tethering a rooted Samsung Galaxy s

I am trying to use my Samsung Galaxy s as my modem for my pc. I did a speed test and the speeds are more than enough.
my question is, If I use my phone as my modem through tethering will Tmobile know that I am using it as a modem? My phone is rooted and Ive already tested the internet and the speed. Tmobile wants an extra 15 bux a month for doing the tethering, but would they even know if I was tethering on a rooted phone?
edit...well turns out it wouldnt work out for me, after 5gb of usage the speeds lower to dial up speeds, I can do 30 gigs in a few hours!!!

Using an android phone as a wifi hotspot

Hi,
I'm getting a galaxy s3 very soon and I'm thinking about getting a nexus 7 with it.But as you know, nexus 7 doesn't have 3G so my only option to access network on it when there's no wifi network available is to use my future s3 as a wifi hotspot. So my questions are:
1-Is data consumption when using the phone as a wifi hotspot the same as if I'm normally using 3G on the phone itself ?
2-How long can an android(specifically the S3 if it matters much) act as a wifi hotspot before the battery runs out ?

1. Yes.
data consumption will be sum of what you consume on your phone + on your tablet.
2. Battery life when using Wi-Fi hotspot depends on data activity. During light/no data activity via hotspot, your battery will last longer than heavy data activity.
-I have galaxy SII and I get more than 5 hrs (8hrs max) on the average when using my phone as Wi-Fi hotspot.

Wi-Fi download speed mystery

Comcast wi-fi internet access : wife's s3, galaxy 8.0 tablet, and toshiba laptop all clocking around 30meg download speeds on speedtest.net, while my s4 will only clock 4-5megs. ALL four will upload same, about 6 meg. Verizon tech referred to Samsung tech who could only recommend a reset which did not help. The recent upgrade to android 4.3 also had no effect. Both s3 and s4 will clock similar 10-25 meg downloads on strong 4g lte connection. Any thoughts?

[Q]Tethering wi-fi speed at 72 mbps

I have a fast LTE connection but the xperia z2 will only tether via wifi at 72 mbps, so i get only 1/3 throughput of LTE speed (about 50, maxes out @150 with other phones..)
Is there any way to fix this, or buy a new phone? Could not find the advanced wifi settings after lollipop update to try some settings which helped other people..?
Any device connected to z2 via wifi will run at 72 mbps , even of they support N and AC standards. The other devices work at normal 150 or 300 speeds connected to my router.
So, any ideas?
I have same problem with wifi

After updating to 5.1.1 android I have the same issue, tethering possible only at 72mbps connection speed.
To my understanding this speed is caused by one antenna in wireless N 150 mode? But still not able to connect to phone with 5ghz nor 40 mhz bandwidth to increase speed..
Is this a Sony issue, or a android issue which can not be solve i.e. by flashing CM?

Galaxy Grand Prime (T-Mobile 5.1.1) Bluetooth interfering with WiFi Speed

I have the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime from T-Mobile running Android 5.1.1 (Baseband Version: G530TUVS2APK2) and I am using my 2.4 GHz internet connection on this phone as it does not have any dual-band support. I have my Bluetooth SkullCandy Hesh 2 Wireless headphones that I use very frequently with this phone throughout every day for music and I have VERY painfully slow uploads and downloads through WiFi.
Here are two SpeedTest results to show the difference. Keep in mind my internet is already very slow. :silly:
Without Bluetooth on WiFi: Ping: 20ms; Download: 1.74 Mbps; Upload: 8.25 Mbps
With Bluetooth on WiFi: Ping: 27ms; Download: 0.07 Mbps; Upload: 0.02 Mbps
This is a really big deal for me because I don't want to have to use my LTE all the time. Thank you for help and I hope I can find a way to fix this besides factory resetting. Also, please remember this phone does not support dual-band network connections.
