"Micro SIM Larger than 32KB - 250 Contact Limit?"
I have a Sprint HTC ONE MAX with a Lot More than 250 Contacts.
I'm looking to find a Micro SIM that's Larger than 32KB in size so I can have More than 250 Contact Limit.
I remember when people who had Phones way back, had More than 1,000 and 2 People I used to know had over 2,500 Contacts on their Phones.
I'm looking for a Micro SIM that will have More than 250 Contact Limit that will NOT make My Phone work ANY DIFFERENTLY than it's working right now.
Anyone with Good Information as to What Micro SIM that I can get and where to get it, Please let Me and Anyone Else that Reads This Post know as well. And Thank You for the Information that You can Provide to Us All.
Can I ask why you dont just keep your contacts in one of your google accounts? You could even create a new empty one if you want to keep it separate. One bad move and that sim could die and no replacement will get them back. Just wondering.

That's all well fine and dandy if I started out with Android from the begining, but I moved from Windows Phone 8 and trying to sync them with Google has Screwed them All up. So much so that I had to Delete them All and Re Enter them All. But I was Not able to Edit about Half of them, so Ihad to Delete them again and bring My Windows Phone and My HTC ONE MAX into a Sprint Service Center to have them transferred over.
Any other way other than that, Totally Screws them up.
That's why I want to back them up to a SIM Card.

1. export to sd card
2. start new gmail account and import them to test (you should be able to send that vcard by email and gmail will recognize it)
3. BU that file
It is just one of many ways, I do tech support for cellphones there is always another way.
the problem with sim cards is that they keep changing sizes over time the vcard is the best way, you can always outlook as a BU also.
I'm NOT looking to back up to; Micro SD, Outlook, or Google.
As I said before, My Contacts get Screwed Up, some I CAN'T Edit, and others are just WRONG! Wrong Person pops up in Caller ID and or Wrong Person is Called when Selecting the Contact from the People Tab - Phonebook.
And if trying to copy to SIM Card of 32KB 250 Contact Limit, the rest of My Contacts are NOT copied at all past the 250th contact.
PLEASE READ ALL of My Post and take it All into Consideration as if it were YOUR PROBLEM AS WELL. And being Your Problem as well, see what Solutions can be done with Finding a Compatible SIM Card for the HTC ONE, & HTC ONE MAX both on Sprint.

well best of luck with that, all sim cards no matter there capacity have a max contact capacity of 250 contacts.
SIM cards can come in various data capacities, from 32 KB to at least 128 KB. All allow a maximum of 250 contacts to be stored on the SIM, but while the 32 KB has room for 33 Mobile Network Codes (MNCs) or "network identifiers", the 64 KB version has room for 80 MNCs
the sim card is not for contact storage it is for connecting your phone to the network. I do know many other ways to get your contacts in a perfect format that is preservable and duplicable.
looks like you will have to go to apple. best of luck.
btw you are kinda rude considering you are asking for help, I did read all of your posts but I assumed that maybe you would do your own reading (learn how to at least use wikipedia) which would have informed you that those are the limitations off a 1991 technology.
There is one other way to use your SIM but I would rather you just not have the ability to communicate.

As others have stated SIM Cards are not suitable for storing contacts period. If they were, however, the only place to get one
would be from Sprint (in your case)
Since you have already imported most/some of your SIM data to your Google/Gmail account I would suggest going to:
https://www.google.com/contacts/ from a PC or laptop and editing the data there. Its a thousand times easier then doing
it from within Android. This is also the only real way to truly delete contacts from the google ecosystem. It may take some
time but once your done you will never have to worry about it again and any contacts you add or edit from you phone will
be synced up.
Yeah, I agree with str8upx here. Don't bother trying to manage contact data from within the phone itself as that's a massive pain; login to your Google account from an actual computer and do it that way. Not only is it much easier but you'll be able to delete/update whatever you want with no limitation. Also, if you're coming from a Windows Phone you've presumably got all your contact data in a Hotmail/Outlook.com account and there are relatively easy ways to export from there and import to Google using an actual PC so there's little manual effort required on your part:

I know this question has been asked before, but never answered and I was hoping that things might have changed by now.
I was wondering if there was any way whatsoever to get WM6.5.3 to store the SMS database on the micro-sd card, thereby not forcing me to keep trimming my sms messages as frequently as I have to.
I have a Tilt 2, running the latest NRGY ROM.
Thanks

I am not so sure about your phone, but I am positive you could find out on the respective thread. I know for my Excalibur, there is a 'hack' (mod really) that allows for a larger number of SMS to store ... I don't think it re-routes it to the SD card though.
The issue is primarily that the SMS database file is the same as the Phonebook, Recent Calls, and VoiceMail records(?)...I honestly forget. I did some digging into this a while ago, but stopped. Its rather inconvenient since its all partially encrypted, or at least not that easy to just parse through.
I have been contemplating starting a project (which I have already started conceptualizing) that will replace the dumb CE MAPI once and for all. It would be a suite of programs [Replacement SMS/MMS/EMail/etc. Transport DLL, Replacement tmail.exe, Replacement database] ... with end-users in mind, such that data is easy to obtain. I would probably store it as XML or something similar. If I do go through with this, I will be sure to consider storing to Storage Card AND/OR main memory
As the title says, I need an app for my son and I want to pay for it..
So here is the deal:
If anyone can make me an super simple card game where you basicly have
a deck of cards, and when you swipe the deck (left to right) an animation
pushes the top card a way and the next card appears.
The cards must me stored in a array, xml or database (what ever is best)
so that i can add info for each card. IE: If the card is a "6 of dimonds" i want
to show description for that card.
This must be a simple task (I hope)? So, who is up for it and how much will
it cost me? If I get an response I will send the mockup for how the game works.
In the mean time, here is an tiny, simple javascript example I made just now.

I was thinking both, just that the tablet version had a diffrent layout.?
I'm a web-developer, so i know my way around PHP, Javascript and MySql Databases. I was also thinking this was a nice way for me to get an insight on
how android apps work, so if you can do this, It would be nice if you add a lot of comments in the code
If you send me an e-mail to myusername at gmail.com, I can send you my sketches?

After working around a while, I've got a button which prints a random card with a random card type and a random card number with the remaining cards.
But still I've got the issue that the program doesn't yet list all the drawn cards. It just draws e.g. "Cards left: 38 Card: spades 51
But the draws before are removed.

Did you look at the javascript code here http://jsbin.com/eluseh/3/edit#source ?
As you can see there, when the game is created, an array containing the cards are created. When ever a new card is delt, one card is removed from the array. Now what you can do, is first put in in a new array, ie. "deltcards". Then remove it from the deck..

I'm sorry, but i thought this was the relavant forums since it is a request for software development and not an Question or Problem regarding software.
I've noticed a lot of similar questions around these forums, so I decided to collect some in the same place. This is by no means an exhaustive list.
I can haz root/S-OFF?
There are options for unlocking your bootloader by changing your SuperCID, also there are options for obtaining S-OFF.
Thanks to Team Fireballas for the root method, and thanks to unlimited.io for S-OFF.
Now, please, don't talk like that anymore. Proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation help us understand the question or point you're trying to get across.
My FriendStream (or another HTC) app is missing
HTC decided to remove the FriendStream widget from view in an attempt to de-bloat Sense. On the stock ROM, you can still access it via the lockscreen and somewhat through the Social Clock.
Lockscreen: Settings -> Personalize -> Lock Screen Style -> Friend Stream
Social Clock: Widgets -> Clock -> Social Clock
On the stock ROM, there are several HTC apps missing from our phone, including the beloved flashlight. However, not all the apps are truly missing, just hidden. If you have root, you can re-enable it in the default.xml file located in the /system/customize/MNS/ folder. Remove the listing for FriendStream or whatever app you want to view in the app drawer from the "application_hide" function. FriendStream might also require the listing under "shortcut_hide" to be removed, as well. If you are rooted, a custom ROM may not have this problem.
Why do I have this annoying Wi-Fi icon?
For whatever reason, HTC or Verizon decided to add an annoying Wi-Fi nag icon in the notification bar telling you that you should turn on Wi-Fi. Why Verizon wouldn't want you to go over your data limit and owe them more money is beyond me. If you have root, there is a pretty simple fix for this, or try a custom ROM.
Can I use 64GB MicroSD cards?:
Our phone lists 32GB as the largest capacity microSD card it is capable of utilizing. However, that is the largest capacity allowed by the SD 2.0 standard, SDHC. SD 3.0 currently allows 64GB SDXC cards to be backwards compatible with SD 2.0 ports. Since every single 64GB card isn't necessarily going to work, it's best to read around and find the specific models which do.
Why do the official specs say our phone has 8GB of internal storage but I have less?:
Due to the controversial naming scheme of hard drives and other forms of data storage, companies actually give you less storage than you anticipated. 'Giga' is an SI decimal prefix meaning 10^9, or 1 billion bytes. Before hard drive capacities were in the gigabytes, hard drives used the IEC binary capacity for megabytes (2^20), albeit with the SI prefix. RAM is still calculated with the IEC value but with the SI prefix. So, when your internal storage is calculated to be 8GB, it's actually 8 x 10^9 rather than 8 x 2^30. Since Microsoft has been around since the other standard was set, Windows still displays storage capacity in the binary fashion and labels it with the decimal format.
On top of that, the Android system takes up a sizable amount of storage space, which is included in our phone's internal storage capacity, so you're only allowed 4.15GiB of data storage, which is 4.457GB. In short, you've got 8 billion bytes, but only 4.457 billion bytes usable, which is 4.15GiB. A similar capacity change will be noticed on your MicroSD card size. For example, I have a 32GB MicroSD card, which is actually 29.7GiB. I have a 2TB hard drive, but I only have 1.818TiB available. That's almost 200GiB "missing" because of the naming scheme.
What's the deal with the SD card naming scheme?:
Android 4.0 introduced a new way that SD cards are handled by the system. Previously, the eMMC internal storage of the phone was in the '/emmc/' folder, and the SD card was '/sdcard/'. Makes perfect sense, right? Way to screw it up, Google. Now, the internal storage is in the '/sdcard/' folder, and the real SD card is '/sdcard2/'. There's nothing you can do about this without serious modding to the system. It was changed because Google considers our phones to be high capacity now, so the need for microSD has passed. Yes, portable storage isn't necessary. If you have root, there's a mod that can switch it for you.
Can I install apps to the SD Card?:
Unfortunately, if you are unrooted and on the stock ROM, as per the SD card naming scheme change mentioned immediately above, apps can no longer be installed to the SD card. Like I mentioned above, if you have root, there's a mod for that. Otherwise, when saved in the 'Internal storage', apps are saved in the normal location of apps, '/data/app/'. When saved in the 'Phone storage', apps are saved in the eMMC internal storage partition '/sdcard/.android_secure/' as a '.asec' file.
Can I use Google Wallet?:
If you are rooted, then there's an experimental method that may let you successfully run Google Wallet.
Is our phone capable of being used globally?:
The latest 2.17.605.2 update enabled global phone on our phone. Go to Settings -> Call, and change Preferred Network to Global.
These have been the most common questions I have seen, and I'll be updating this list with more pertinent information when it arises. There are plenty of other questions that have been answered, even more which haven't. Look around for questions, and if there isn't an answer, don't be afraid to ask.
FYI the debugfs root method doesn't look to be working... not sure if you saw that in the other thread or not.
Had to throw up a pic...64GB....the only way to go

Hey self, nevermind. If anyone else wants to just copy over the APK that you need to modify, just do what I said here -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30679535&postcount=40. You will need root, though, and I understand a lot of people don't. All it is is removing a few images that for some reason stops the notifications as well.

IceDragon59, you've done a nice job with the FAQ, I wonder if you might also consider taking on the task of making an index post for ROMs, recoveries, unlock methods, scripts, themes, etc?
Oh, and it looks like you can remove the please sticky notice from the title.

That's not a bad idea. I'll make it my weekend project. And thanks for pointing out the fact that this thread finally got stickied after 5 months.
FYI, the direct link in the OP to the post with the .apk for killing the wifi nag is outdated. It takes you to post #40 in that thread, but that .apk may actually botch things up for folks running the latest stock Sense. There is a post a few posts later with an updated .apk to match the more recent Sense.

Strange, my works with Samsung cable good, same like on original htc usb
I've found other threads about a similar issue, but not for the SG III
The character limit in Android contacts notes field, THAT CAN BE EDITED DIRECTLY IN THE PHONE seems to be about 1000, (968 according to some users)
This also seems to be related only to SAMSUNG version of contacts.
Has anyone found a workaround to this limit?
The bad news are that if you sync with Outlook, you may end up with a loss of information.
I know, I know: 1000 is a lot, contacts is not a CRM program, etc, but any help will be really wellcome.
Regards.
Contacts notes field character limitations
This issue of a limited notes field in the contacts app - while it seems like such a small one to most people - greatly affects many of us who utilize the contacts in our Gmail accounts to store a great deal of information (usually, I have found, due to the kind of work we do). Frankly, for me the limitation is important enough that it has affected and continues to affect which phones and tablets I purchase.
There are only a few Android phones that do not have this limitation. Fortunately, the HTC One M8 and M9 don't have character limits in the notes field of the contacts app. (If you've stood in a store and copied and pasted many times over to test this, you'll want to know that there's a simple tell I've found - the name of the contacts app. If it's called "People," as is the case with the Samsung phones, so far everyone I've tested has had the limitation. If, instead, it's called "Contacts," as is the case with the HTC phones, then there's no limitation.
Some have theorized to me that the phone manufacturers include this limitation knowingly in order to keep phones from being overburdened by data. I have a difficult time believing this, partly because I have approximately 10,000 contacts, and in the accompanying notes fields I store everything from copies of correspondence to research to articles related to the contacts. I've never come close to any data storage space issues related to this particular issue. By the way, there's a bit of a work around with regard to this issue, though it's nowhere near helpful enough to change my feature priorities when looking for a new phone - something I do every six months or so. You can use a PC to do your major notes field creating and editing - and as long as you don't need to make any changes via your mobile device, you can get along OK. That is, while you can edit the notes field using unlimited characters space on your laptop, then read everything in the app on the phone, any editing on your mobile device done in notes which exceed the limit is limited by the character limitation.
I love my HTC, but I probably would be using a Samsung were it not for this issue. I've spent some considerable time - and many different times - on the phone with people at Samsung about this issue. Most of the time, after lengthy back and forth conversations (most people don't fully understand the issue initially; then, once they do, their usual responses range from some level of disinterest to judgments about why no one should ever need to reach much less exceed the maximum), I rarely can get anyone in either support or development to even agree to mention the issue to the development teams with which they at least share company benefits.
This issue is one of several that restrict the phones I buy. Unlike many (I'm guessing, based on the number of phones built with the relevant specs), a micro SD card is important to me. The importance to me of that one feature narrows the phones in my market considerably. In fact, based on very unscientific research, I believe my desire/need for a phone with a micro SD card and unlimited space in the notes field of the contacts app limits me currently to precisely two phones - the HTC One M9 (my current phone) and the Sony Xperia Z. As to high-end tablets, I own a Google Nexus 7 because it doesn't limit the notes field, but I just bought a Sony Xperia z2 tablet (because it also has a micro SD card).
Fortunately for me, both the HTC One M9 smartphone and the Sony Xperia z2 tablet are top-notch pieces of hardware. I used to own a Motorola Droid Razr M - when it included an SD card - because it, too, didn't limit the notes field. But it no longer has an SD card.
Surely there is some way for the phone manufacturers to get rid of what seems to be a spurious limitation. I know, for me, at least it would give me the opportunity to purchase from a less limited market.
Thanks
Thanks so much for your comment that I absolutly agree with.
My Contactc list is about 5000, with the same issues and use as yours.
I'm also commited to devices supporting external SD cards, it has saved my day a few times already
Just to be fair, I've to comment some "news" on the issue.
I'm actually on LG band (LG G-III to be more precise) and It's both a capable and excellent performer, with less limitations tan current Samsung devices (not to mention the iPhone-likes S6 family)
Regarding the notes field, LG (Or KitKat/Lollipop, not sure) has a different approach, though a bit cumbersome:
When you open in your device an existing contact from your Contacts list, in the Notes field (NOT created by default on new contacts, you have to manually add it) the number of characters SHOWN is limited to about 1000 characters.... this limit applies ONLY to how many characters are DISPLAYED.
BUT if you enter the edit mode inside the contact ... .¡THERE IS NO LIMITATION! NO LOSS OF INFORMATION EITHER IN THE PROCESS OF SYNCING. you read/edit the NOTES field in FULL with no limitations.
As soon as you "Save" or "exit" the edit mode, you are back to the restricted character display, but the "rest of the info" is there.
IN SHORT: The LIMIT is in the number of characters displayed NOT in the STORED info.
It may help you broaden your device buying options as it did with mines.
I don't know if this applies to other devices.
Give it a try if you like.
Regards.
Simpler problem for my s4 is not enough characters in the contact name field...only 17 characters doesn't cut it. Also curious why I don't have the plus/minus symbols for adding another number to a contact (say they had home/office/fax/etc). What did I turn off that affected the plus/minus symbol?

Never heard of such a thing, it has to be a different issue. Maybe you should reset your device to get a fresh Contact manager start-up.
Sorry not being able to help.

Hi all, I just received my new handset, a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact as an upgrade to my Samsung Galaxy S4. I'm not a noob per se, but these are noob questions I have, any answers for which I would be most grateful. My otherwise stellar google-fu has failed me these past two days and some clearer, direct advice and answers would be immensely helpful.
- A general question re: the Play Store. If I purchase a paid app, does it remain available to me to re-download and update forever after? Does it last between multiple/new devices? I want to buy Navigon Europe, but wanted to know if it's a once-only deal or remains available to me to download permanently.
- Contact syncing. On my past android phones, I've always somehow managed to import all my contacts from various online accts (eg. FB, GMail, etc). I have all my contacts (up-to-date) in Outlook on my PC and ideally want them, and only them, on my device contact list. I don't want the phone to synch anything with anything except my Outlook contacts but don't know what steps I can take to avoid that.
- Battery: I've had mixed messages about the first charge (currently in-progress at the time of writing!). Do Li-Ion batteries need to be charged for 16hrs or just until they're full?
- Converting the SIM Card: My S4 uses a MicroSIM, the Z3 Compact a NanoSIM. I heard they can be cut manually...is it safe to do that, or should I wait 3 days for TMobile (UK) to send me one?
I have two last questions that are more general advice than anything, but answers still appreciated!
- What apps/services are best to transfer my data over from my old handset to the new one? I can figure this out, but any recommendations from experience in doing the same would be welcome. I can figure out how to use them, just a general idea of apps/services to make sure I don't miss anything (texts, calendar, apps). Presumably I can download an app, *export* a file to my SD card, install the app and SD card on the new phone and "import" the file?
- This is a tough one...I have Barclays Mobile Banking app and kept my S4 stock since it apparently stopped working on rooted phones. I'd like to root my Z3 Compact but would have to stay stock for the Barclays app alone. Is there a good way to like trick the phone to believe it's not rooted, or stealth it, etc?
Any advice would be most gratefully received. I think I've answered the battery question but am still concerned about the rest. Many thanks in advance.

Paid apps are transferrable between devices, assuming you use the same Google account that it is linked to.
When you sign into Google (and your other accounts) it will ask if you want to Backup and Restore. Just leave it unchecked and then when finished importing Outlook contacts, you can go into your Google account and just make sure to only sync the options you're interested in by checking/unchecking whatever boxes you need.
I find a good way to transfer texts, call logs, apps, etc from device to device is by using an app like Go Backup. You were on the right path with the idea of backing up on the phone, transferring to PC, and switching it to a new phone. If you don't have access to a PC at the time, you can use something like Wifi File Explorer Pro to connect to it, assuming you have access to wifi or can wifi tether between the 2.
Cutting of the SIM is possible manually, but if you don't have access to a good SIM card cutter tool (obviously you don't have one in your possession, but any respectable repair shop or cell phone provider will have one. It only takes 5 seconds, but still there is a slight risk of damaging the card. It is best to get a new one. It is possible to cut with a sharp Exacto knife or something of the sort, but when going to nano, the margin of error is so small that I don't recommend.
As far as root and Barclay's, I don't believe it is an option. There have been attempts to bypass this restriction, but I believe that it has been without success. See:

Thank you for your helpful reply! I've moved most of my data over successfully, installed/copied most apps and setup most accounts. I did however ruin my MicroSIM in my attempts at converting it to Nano size. Have ordered a replacement but currently unable to call or text. Ah well!
I took the plunge and blew some money on the Play Store. I have the apps working now, and hope that they will remain available to me hereafter.
Thanks for the info on the Barclays App. I think I will skip rooting again *sigh* It's very annoying. There's a bunch of bloat I cannot freeze/quarantine, the ability to move apps to the SD card isn't available...all for one app If I found an APK of an old version, from back when it worked on a rooted phone, that might be an option?
Only issue I now have (apart from getting used to a few changes!) is with Email. On the S4, I set up my email as follows: Email: Forwarding Address - Incoming Server: BT Internet - Outgoing: Gmail (Set to send using my forwarding address). It worked fine. Now on the Z3C, I no longer have a box to enter my "Email address". Only "Username" and "Password". I can get my Emails from BT, can send via Gmail but it comes with "On behalf of..." in the sender field which is driving me mad! These are the little things that reallyget aggravating. Spent 2 hours already trying to work it out
