Trying to make backup... - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I just got my S4 rooted last night, installed CWM/recovery however when I boot to recovery I have no option to create a backup. I even tried selecting create backup from inside the OS of the phone in CWM app and it boots to recovery and nothing happens. I want to make a backup before I put CM10.2 on it.. some help please?

Your only option is Safestrap. You have some research to do. Start here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606501

So if I flash the Safestrap recovery will I then be able to do backups and flash CM10.2 without any huge(beyond the obvious) threat to bricking?

Sorry. My bad

Jeez. No offense to the OP but these posts are always on here. Lot of money for a phone should mean lot of research 1st. Maybe these folks have that issue of having '' extra money '' so that can trash top dollar phones and not care

I can't understand why time not taken to research before you turn your phone into a paperwieght. This S4 verizon forum has countless post all concerning the same mistakes and yet the noobies NEVER see them?? pure laziness in my book.

Good news is if you can get into download mode then your not bricked. You may have to just Odin the factory image back to stock and you should be fine. Don't panic!

Also might you be able to help me actually get a custom recovery working so i can flash hyperdrive? This was a lot easier with my i9500 back 3 months ago, its killing my head figuring this all out all over again
Also i notice RLS9 on the thread for hyperdrive is downloadable @ 1.7gb. could i just flash this in download mode?

That is correct. No custom recovery, no roms, no going back. Root, debloat, try playing with Nova Launcher is about all you can do for now.

Nope no roms at the moment. Next time do a little bit of reading, it goes a long way. Its been beaten to death literally theres no custom recovery for me7, its been posted atleast a hundred times and its posted in the me7 image thread as well. Check out the safestrap thread in the general section. Hashcode is working on a method for roms/recovery as we speak. After you get your phone fixed and rooted if you choose to do, look into xposed framework and the wanam module.from the play store. You will atleast be able to get some customization out of the stock me7 rom.

Hes not screwed he just has to odin the stock me7 image. The phone is still bootable in fact but everytime he tries to go into recovery its going to throw him into download mode. Back onto topic I would odin one of the stock me7 images so you will atleast have a stock recovery.

My phone is running JB Build 21 with TWRP. So which comes first: restoring recovery to stock or restoring stock ROM?

this is what ill flash in ODIN right : http://server10.stockroms.net/download/GalaxyNote2/SCH-I605/official/I605VRAMC3_I605VZWAMC3_VZW.zip
I believe so but it would be great if someone else who has gone full stock on this device to chime in. My experience going to stock was on the s3.very similar just wanna double check with someone else too. I never Odin ANYTHING unless I'm 100percent sure that it's correct
And as you might know, CHECK md5. A bad tar flash will most likely hard brick your device. It's not the same as a bad rom flash

it's simple
1st root your phone
2nd install cwm recovery
3rd download cm10 or cm10.2
flash using cwm recovery, search the forum to root. You can also use farmaroot app to root, try your luck, it rooted s3 for me.

All I can say is check out the development section and see what rom catches your fancy. If it doesnt use the stock kernel its not compatible for the moment. Eclipse is a touchwiz rom with aosp styling so you might like that (not exactly sure if it uses stock kernel but I think it does)

Stuck in TWRP install on ME7

So, I am like many of the other noobs in here who tried to install TWRP through goomanager. I realize that this is not possible, and am paying for my actions. I have read on many threads like this one that by flashing the stock ME7 recovery onto the phone through odin I can get my phone up and running again. Only issue is that I cannot manage to find the stock recovery for ME7 to save my own life (or the life of my phone coincidentally). Could anyone help me by posting a link to the download? I certainly don't mind being marked an idiot if it helps me out or other people who do the same exact thing.
Thanks in advance guys.
