I rooted my Xperia L-LT221 with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2023756. Basically, it does this with a Flashtool:
- Flash 6.1.B.0.599_Kernel via FlashTool
- Reboot then run Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry
- Flash 6.1.1.B.1.75_Kernel via FlashTool
I have root, because Titanium Backup works.
Now I am trying to UNROOT the phone. I connected the phone to my PC and run Flashtool. Selected Root --> Unroot and I was prompted that my device was "NOT ROOTED".
How can I unroot the phone? I am trying to go back to factory state.
Model: LT22i
Android: 4.0.4

Not realy clear what are you trying to do.
You can flash stock ROM and lose all settings and some data (call log, contacts, messages, settings etc.)
Or you can delete su binary and app.
Why do you want to unroot?

Basically, goes back to factory state. The phone is still on 4.0.4 and I believe the root stop ANY OTA, since I haven't received any updates for JB from Sony.
So I can flash stock ROM using FlashTool? Where can I get the stock ROM?
It only stops updates if you unlock bootloader. Yes you can upgrade with flashtool. Just google Xperia P 6.2.A.1.100 ftf

I didn't unlock the boot loader. As a matter of fact, the link to root above is ONLY for locked boot loader.
However, I never get OTA update, so something is causing this. Thus, I want to go back to factory state to make sure they're is no other surprises.
Um @lanwarrior you can always flash it with flashtool?? No need for such a big trouble.

I understand flashing, but which ROM? Flash with Xperia P 6.2.A.1.100 ftf?
I am new to Sony Android phone and want to make sure I am flashing the right ROM. My phone is the unlocked version bought from Amazon.
@lanwarrior yes flash it and then root it with Doomlord's easy rooting kit

Could be there is no update for your region or no OTA anyway.
Install PC Companion and see if you got updates.

Good point. Mine is the international version though, so it is not tied to any particular region.
Looks like I have to use the generic world version?
@lanwarrior I can only find the Central Europe but i think that should be fine.

Thank you. Is there an identifier in the serial or build number that can identify which region the phone comes from? Samsung have this.

There is none. I have SuperUser v3.0.7, the old one from back in...err..2012? This is not SuperSU.
I did a factory reset (NOT FLASH ROM) on the phone, and this fix OTA thing. After factory reset, I immediately get notice that there is an update for my phone (6.2.A.0.400).
Now I just cannot remove SuperUser!

Search for the stock ROM on XDA( the same one you are using) and flash using flashtool (Search and you will find tutorials). This will unroot your phone and remove SuperSU.
If you want to keep your SMS, call logs etc, use a backup app from Google Play.

Hi,
I'm currently running 4.0.A.2.335 on my Mini Pro,
I've been getting the message to update to .58 for a couple months now, but was waiting to update because I wasn't sure if I was still going to be able to root.
So simple question: update before root or after?
Grtz!
Its not important, important not to use internal wi-fi updater when bootloader unlocked. in any case you must get root after every update, because all data will be removed

You cant update your phone to .58 if your phone currently rooted. You need to unroot first then update then reroot back.
So the answer is update first, then root

For my own information: do you have an AZERTY SK17i, and if so, would you please do me a favour and post your /system/build.prop (after rooting of course, can't access it otherwise) here or in my thread?
I'm looking for the 'generic Belgium' CDA code Currently running a french one but it came with some very irrelevant apps and I have another issue with it.

Nothing has been changed yet (phone is not rooted and hasn't been flashed yet). Stock can also mean, 'running SE firmware' as opposed to a custom ROM, regardless how the SE firmware was installed.

Please read my current post on such a stupid upgrade via PC Companion, flashed it back into .58, rooted again, installed ROM Manager, prior to upgrade it to .62 on the air... or you may simply cross your arms and wait for a few days to let SE engineers to fix that OTA bug
Get a "Generic US .58" firmware... you can use wotanserver... OTA update should be available with that.
Rooting the phone won't affect anything. So that's not the reason, it's the firmware.
OTA Update IS available for me, the problem is it can't install the update, anyway, I decided to stay with .58 fw version right now, I mean I don't have any problems at all using this version and I already deleted some system apps, so I think I'll wait for the ICS update.

I can't update by OTA to .62... at the end, the final step I guess, my handset stops and reboots normally, and a message appear on status bar: can't install.
Is a .377 (oooollldddd) st15a with root (by zergrush method), locked bootloader.
All stock, just with root.
So I decide to wait a custom ROM, the Mini ST15a/i Clean 'n' Tweaked, updated, by serajr.
Same here .... I am running a stock .58 fw
I have rooted the phone long ago but never unlocked the bootloader or installed the CWM.
Nonetheless, i start the update to .62 fw but the final step just says that is not possible ton install the update.
Any idea?
The only thing i did that MAY AFFECT the ota update is that i used titanium backup to integrate some app into the rom system and to delete some sony bloatware. This could really be the problem?
Here my step to root my mini pro SK17i, boot loader still same as when it buy..
When I bought it the phone is 2.3.4/4.0.2.A.0.62 and try out many ways from XDA. Yes it rooted but when I update firmware from OTA or pc... my phone back to early state that root are gone...
So I tried out many ways and found this one, try over 3 times to make sure and decide to post this guide.
A.prepare...
1.flashtool 0.7 from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351309
2.fw 4.0.2.A.0.58 .ftf you can find from xda or place..(its not hard to find)
3.root v1.5 without unlock boot loader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346198
...
step 1.
open flashtool then select flash ==> flash mode ==> select fw 4.0.2.A.0.58..
then check only exclude TA / FOTA / Baseband (only 3 choices) the others must not check..
then select [ok] to continue and wait for connect the SK17i
step 2.
Push your phone in to flash mode by....Turn off your phone..
Then press and hold [volume down] while you plug PC-USB, if you never install driver of flash mode the PC will install it...[please choose continue(ignore) to install, even no matter what happen]
step 3.
waiting around 5-6 minutes... untill all message said all finished..==> then disconnect the phone..
step 4.
turn on your phone..==> then set display to maximum timeout / and set develop USB debug...
step 5.
open (root v1.5) to root the phone
after phone restart....
Your phone SK17i are rooted ready and fw is 4.0.2.A.0.58..
then Backup every things while you are root user...
step 6.
OTA to 4.0.2.A.0.62 back by wifi only, don't choose other else..
Done...enjoy.

Sorry for bothering.
I was reading many texts on this forum and all over the net, and because I`m a newbie I`m still not sure if I`m right about this.
So this 4.0.2.A.0.62 firmware is not rootable unless I downgrade right ? I have an xperia ray if that makes any difference.
So the only solution for me to root the phone is to flash the phone with an older version of gingerbread right ?
Thanks in advance.

I guess there's no .68 firmware. Only .58/.62/.69/
I would update; with an ota update (via wifi) you shouldn't loose root. To be on the safe side, download the local-prop script (how to root .431), run it on your current firmware, update, see if you have root, if not run push-root-files

Hi guys,
Just realized there is a new update. I am on rooted .290 model C6802,
Here are my few questions:
1. Do i need to update it from Sony Pc Companion ? As on rooted fw there is no notification for any updates.
2. Do i get to keep root ?
3. Will I still have an unlocked bootloader?
4. Will I still have a stock kernel ?
5. How do i update it to a clean stock rom will every thing 'untouched' ? Wanna check a few things and then root later.
6. Any improvement in this fw ?
7. how do i keep track of fw update as my ultra doesnt deliver me any notification ?
1. You have to update it through PC Companion or SUS..
2. No doubt your root will be lost..
3. To keep the root you've to first update then unlock the Bootloader of your device..which will void your warranty unless you take a TA backup and then unlock..
4. To root on your lock Bootloader you've to wait for a while..
Revert back if you need anymore info..
Hit Thanks if I helped you..

1. I've not see anyone with an ota update, I think they have all been PCC or flashing a FTF
2. The FTF kills root, not sure about PCC. Root is easy to get back with a unlocked bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2630781
3. Wont touch the BL state
4. Yes
5. Um... just flash the FTF or via PCC - make a nandroid backup beforehand of cause
6. There is a thread about this in grneral
7. Plug in the ultra to a PC, some of the updates have come as OTA, but will normally fail on a rooted device

That leaves two causes, unroot and flash via PCC or flash the FTF from flashtool. Plenty of ways to get root back if you have an unlocked bootloader now
FTFs are here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2453921

You can update via Pc companion by repairing your phone (you will loose root though) then re- rooting or you can flash a FTF via Flash tool.
