Questions regarding a stock app and Jelly Bean - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there. As the title suggests, I have a few questions about a certain stock app and another for Jelly Bean 4.2.
1.- I'd like to know if anybody can know what this app does. I didn't notice it till today, and before you ask anything, my phone is new, it has only 3 days of use, and it's not rooted. For those curious, it's a BLU Dash 5.0 running JB 4.2. I can't read chinese but as I was saying, I find it a little, odd, to have it as a stock app. Why stock? Because I can't uninstall it but I can disable it. I haven't done so since I don't know what the app does. Here are the screenshots:

}
2.- My next question regards the RAM. I know Jelly Bean is slightly different and heavier than ICS, but is the RAM I have in my screenshot, well, normal for the activities running? (My phone has 512 mb as the minimum required). Of course, I have no idea if it's an issue since I experience no lag. (Sorry if it's a noobish question ), yet on ICS, I had around 130 mb or so free. But does having free RAM really matter?
I appreciate any response given, thank you for your time.

Hi. For the first, disable it and see if anything useful stops working. It's probably not tied in with anything you actually need. If it is? Enable it.
For the second, don't worry about RAM. If there is no lag then it's a good thing. RAM keeps necessary stuff at the ready. In fact, not having things in RAM can create lag for that very reason.
Hope this helps, mate. Cheers.

Edit: forgot to affirm that yes, JB needs more RAM, and with only 512 you won't have much still free.

Thanks for your quick reply! So, the RAM issue is normal? Oh thanks, I thought that the app I mentioned was tied to the RAM, but I guess it's not. Thank you!

Okay, I just got that weird app to show up on my RAM, apparently it runs 2 services called "UI service" and "SS". Also it has the name of com.port.win... Any ideas about it?
EDIT: Wait, it was another chinese app I had on my downloads. I didn't download that! Is this a wormhole or something??? I just uninstalled it.

Information about what this log does?
Okay, sorry for double posting by the way. I found this log inside my SD Card and was wondering if it's related to the app. Can somebody please tell me what this log does? I'll leave it as an attachment.
As always, I appreciate any help given thanks.
(By the way, I removed my IMEI from inside the log for security reasons).

[Q] Forcibly preventing app kill

Need a way to prevent an app of choice from being killed when low on memory without recompiling the app, adding a notification, or any of that horsecrap. If absolutely necessary I can rewrite a chunk of the ROM.
It still amazes me that Froyo has this many oversights / poor choices, especially with regard to user control over button actions and internal workings.
bump
also, galaxy s2 is going to be awesome in US
I'm using cyanogen now if that makes it any easier.
yet again
.
really would be nice to know..
it's for my custom lockscreen which uses a replacement home, I want to keep the default home launcher in memory but froyo has no user-customizable memory management options.

Edited:
I ended up using a service to poll for processes that are in the foreground which is a much-much-much better solution than a home replacement, as well as being able to control apps on the lock screen (several allow use of the web browser, which is even more of a security issue).
I still need to know how to do this for something else though.

Hows this app working? Im looking to find something to prevent unwarranted killing of certain apps: various games and my browser (not all together or anything), which given that I get sidetracked a lot, I don't like to return to just to find that its all been shut down. My SGS2 has a gig of ram, many of the tasks that use less than 100mb are killed while im talking on the phone for a while doing nothing else with little or nothing open. Email and other little syncing things cannot consume all of this phones resources, to the point one fairly medium-sized task must be euthanized!
Searching has yielded very little, most people are looking for the opposite: some crazy task-killer app to kill, kill, double-kill, killing-spree, RAMPAGE! lol! Some things were goot about winmo 6.x, for example a quick:
HKCU/software/HTC/taskmanager/enableautokill = "0"
is the winmo equivalent to the answer, IF ram isn't tightly budgeted already. I had apps running for DAYS on my HTC Raphael with that setting
I'm testing it again
-Setting the killing spree threshold to 0 for all the sliders seems to help a _lot_.
-Setting the process's priority / using "Always keep alive" is only temporary and doesn't affect anything on my device
-This app is really useful

hahaha....wow....I'm overwhelmed by the complete lack of response to this, even after all your bumps
I came across this thread while trying to figure out the same thing myself. But as euphoria47 said, all the searches are cluttered with how to kill apps, not how to prevent them from being killed....I can't seem to find the "magical" keywords to find a legitimate answer to this question.
How did that app you linked to work for you? I'm trying to force one app to stay in memory (QuickDesk), but can't figure out how...

[Q] How can I get More RAM?

Just wanted to know if there was a way to increase my Free RAM on this device. Some ROM's I have run have about 150megs free while others have less, the current ROM I running has 200megs free. Other than killing a running app or task, is there a way to free up more? Or is this just how this device works?

I've tried lots of roms and none had more free ram than UR Rom. But it does take more time to set up than other roms because its light, which is great IMO. O wish it had 2gb of ram like the S3. If it did it would be perfect. By the way I hate the s3.

If your running sense and dont mind disabling sense aspects of your rom, you can freeze sense and run another launcher like ADW. When i was running the older viper i did see on average another 100 megs of ram open.
Or you could go aosp and win right there just saying

UR is the rom I running now. I would like to keep sense, I understand that freezing/removing will lighten it up. So until CM is fully functioning, I want to try to make the most of what I have.
I'll probably add swap when I get around to playing with the kernel in the mean time if u have tasker u can set up a profile to bulletproof apps, I was pissed when dolphin closed while watching hulu on the EVO LTE, it has 2x the ram of my og EVO but less avaible for me to use
Tasker profile active when dolphin running in foreground:

[Q] Huge battery drain since i've upgraded to 4.1.2

Few days ago i've upgraded to the official 4.1.2 (not rooted) and i can't get half a day the way i normally use my SGS2...
Let the screenshot speaks for itself:

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
*Screen brightness is set to automatic
As you can see huge (instant 20%+) battery drop occurs when i restart my phone.
I'm not using GPS , Bluetooth or whatever, just Wi-Fi. Only Chrome and Facebook was used when i took that screenshot. AND YES - IT LASTED ONLY THREE HOURS NORMAL USE.
Haven't had this issue before i upgraded. Last time i checked the leaked 4.1.2 there was similar problem and i hoped they'd fix it but nah...
Any help would be welcome , guys!!!
Install BetterBatteryStats, read the BBS thread on here, post to that thread. Same as for any Android version whether GB, ICS or JB (those screenshots are pretty much meaningless, BTW).

AW: [Q] Huge battery drain since i've upgraded to 4.1.2
The main reason of battery drain on 4.1.2 is media scanner. I found a good way to stop that. I downloaded 2 apps called "media scanner root" and "media scanner". One stops the media scanner from running and the other one runs it as it should normaly run.

My phone is not rooted. Is there any build-in method to disable media scanning?
P.S: Nobody seem to pay attention to my BBS log in the other thread.

Instead if using that app,.you can disable it using Terminal, but you still need to be rooted!
About BBS thread, please be patient. Someone will answer soon. Meanwhile, u can go through the BBS thread to see if there are cases similar to yours.

4.2.2 RAM ? : Memory leak still exists !

I observed killer consumption of RAM in leaked 4.2.2 ; yes I know it's not official ergo not perfect but I wanted to ask if your riding the same boat ? and hope its fixed with official release.
ps. Not complaining or anything. I love the leak and its fluid too. just wanted to crosscheck the numbers.

Why does it matter?... I don't understand why people don't get how Linux based OS's... If you're not having problems, stop looking for some.
Why ask why it matters? If you can't answer don't answer, he obviously wants to know for a reason lol

I can answer it perfectly fine. Your post added nothing. If the phone is running fine and its fluid, why try to find something wrong with it?... Its a Linux based system, it caches it in the RAM, everything it can so that it can be accessed faster. Don't worry about it.

this is the exact condescending reply I was not looking for. I know how Linux works. I just wanted to know why 70 mb was remaining when same processes on Previous firmware was around 200mb + . I know you can only sing free ram is wasted ram . except that you don't foool me. Thank you

Actually this is a problem. I know its linux and its how it handle memory etc etc but we are talking about memory leak, after some usage the memory used by apps can not be released by android task killers and it keep getting bad until a point when even if you open settings the launcher gets killed. It's a plague on all touchwiz roms and in my opinion the most frustrating part of this phone

you ever tried to open 2-3 apps when memory is too low ? it will close 2nd app always its a very big problem and LMK cant fix it whenever your notes closed without save you will understand that, its biggest problem in android and most annoying 1. and on 4.2.2 leak because of low ram games crash too like rr3 and real boxing
So which app is memory leaking in the screen shot? How many MB of RAM is leaking and at what rate?

Minimize on unnecessary apps ea. instead of installing X app that i know is accessible via browser then avoid installing said app. Well that's my basis for apps that I install

[Q] Constant lag problem

Hi all,
I have Innjoo i1 device specs here
512 MB Ram - MT6852 Quad Core 1.3 GHZ - Android 4.2.2 JellyBean

The problem is the device constantly lags/freezes..in nearly all apps..
And my main launcher "Themer" takes a long time to load every time I press the "home" button while I'm in any other app.
What's causing this? I think my free memory is fine to make the device run smooth.
Please help and thank you.

No solution, really. It'd run better on Kit Kat, but I didn't find any custom ROMs available. You could try different launchers and find one that's lighter.
