\system\framework\framework-res.apk\res\raw-xhdpi\ (or similar - it is path for hdx7)
But you should know what you're doing exactly, otherwise you get bootloop.
So basically, make files or pictures the same name and or file size? I assume that'd be the protocol.

like that

you need jpg with same name, size and resolution doesn't matter.
to properly replace file I recomend to you create update.zip with framework-res.apk and install it from safestrap. And hold update.zip with original one on sdcard for the possibility of recovery.
Think ill wait on this. I don't want to mess up what I have already done. LoL. Thanks!

Ok guys I'm learning to theme. I have spent hours and hours making png's. All my files are named exactly as the ones they are replacing. Same size. Same format. I got it all together. Using apk manager & sdk manager. After recompressing everything and sending to the phone and flash. All I get is an eternal boot loop. Any ideas guys? I'm clueless. I followed instructions step by step I found in theming I've been back through my files and xda, Im unable to find the thread.

Its easier to use 7zip to open the apk as an archive and drag your hdpi files out, they'll be copied not extracted, make your changes to pangs and then drag back in.
Working with the xmls will require decompressing and can get a little more tricky but doing it the above way first or last will cut down on errors.

Thanks man. I've got about 12 hours invested so far...plan on a few more tonight trying the recommended method. I'm learning once you close a folder, DO NOT reopen it. You always find something else you can change. Who knows maybe this will be something I can share. (Depending on outcome) thanks again EB I will hit thanks when I get my kids off the PC.

Anyone found a way to make the camera app change the file name to date when it takes pictures? I miss this from my old phone and I can combine folders with my old pictures because it keeps trying to overwrite them.

I would love this feature. I bet the stock app can't do it though.

I use my device for studying, and find myself needing to copy and paste images which I need to annotate, however, I have yet to find an app which allows me to easily paste an image and write or draw on it, your help would be greatly appreciated.

I have to return some video tapes....
Probably should have said so in my original post, but I've tried several programs already including skitch and sketchboard, and neither one suits me.
Both of them do not allow simple image pasting.

May be stating the obvious but have you tried S Note?

Try freenote. It helps me a lot during classes.

Haven't tried freenote yet, I'll give it a try.
As to s-note, ive teied it but find it cumbersome and unresponsive.

Still looking for a simple way to paste images

Is it possible to make a flammable zip to incorporate settings options from one Rom to another?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Flashable
Autocorrect strikes again
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
No. That would cause nothing but issues that you would not like.
There use to be a build prop script file that tweaks certain background processes. But can't remember the name.

Thanks for the response
I am running windows could any one point me to a program or programs that would help me accomplish adding in the extra settings id like to add not replace if that helps
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
The problem with this goal (I wish you could do it) is the files that settings are stored in vary from rom to rom. So copying a file for example named phone_settings.xml that contains all your preferences and making a flashable package of all those xml files, then flashing that set of files in another rom where the file might be called phone_preferences.xml, the flash would fail. So unless every rom uses the exact same names this cannot be done.
What I was meaning with the second question is there a way to do it other than a flashable zip
Id like to have it like jelly bam is with the settings from other roms combined in one
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
As I explained, unless every file with your preferences would have to have the same files in the new rom. They usually don't. Its a good idea, it just can't happen.
Ok I thought you were talking about a zip not doing a complete build

Thanks I guess I'm just stuck hoping the dev will see fit to add those features in the future
Still would like to learn more and start doing a little cooking of my own

While i was exploring my phone using Root Browser i found in /system/media/video/shutdown a file called shutdown.qmg that i suppose is the animation that comes when i turn my phone off.... my question is... If I replace that with a custom shutdown.qmg file when i turn the phone off will it do the animation that i put in it,?
Sent from my GT-S5310 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It should so long as its of a similar size. Make a backup of current ROM and try it out!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Okay
Sent from my GT-S5310 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I converted the same file that i have as a bootanimation.zip file in a shutdown.qmg file i replaced it and my phone wouldn't turn off.. the touch didn't responde and the buttons didn't work... don't do it.... it is a bad idea
Sent from my GT-S5310 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Well two things, the bootanimation is probably much large than shutdown so try to keep the size similar. Also you would need to chmod or change it to the proper permissions. This of course can all be ROM/device dependent as there may be a file elsewhere dictating if it is replaceable or not. A logcat while shutting down may give the answer to that
