a few questions? is the boot loader locked? or unlocked? Rooted? Which version of firmware are you running? Is USB debugging enabled, and is Unknown Sources checked in applications under settings.?

Hi guys,
I don't know very well what to do. The screen timer to turn it off from the display settings menu is at 1min, but it can stay hours on. Somehow the setting is being overriden, so I take it may be another app doing so? DO you know what may be causing it? Or how to investigate it?
Thank you!

Don't flash a new ROM, but don't just factory reset either.
Have you installed any apps before you noticed the screen staying on? Some apps will not let the screen sleep.
Check what apps you've installed since the change. Are you rooted and have you granted any apps Superuser permissions?
I'm guessing reboot doesn't work, sometimes Titanium backup or another backup program can mess with settings if you restore them, especially if it is a different version of Android. Did you do that by any chance?
Hello guys!
I am new to this forum. I own a Samsung galaxy S2 and sorry for my terrible english
I have just reroot my gs2 from the old ICS to the new Jelly bean system 3 days ago (This "X-TremE JB AOKP" is the one I root to my phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795200) but after the successful root I found out that I can't download anything from the internet by using any browser on my phone and I can't upgrade my exist software(such as google map) from the google play store, when I click "upgrade" it just stuck on the loading status forever and not download anything but the system works just fine and the internet connection works perfect...I've been looking for solutions for long time, but seem like almost no one has the same issue as I do so please help!:crying:

No. It can't be a factory problem.
Try this:
Clear data of "Google play" and "Google services framework" in settings, then reboot phone.

No. It can't be hardware problem (please don't ask this question again).
1. Are you using a mobile data network or Wi-Fi to connect?
2. Do you get any error message from Google play?

then i think Google play is not the problem.
It has something to do with either your mobile internet, or a component of your system apps is missing.
Try these:
A.
1. Download Opera mini apk on your Pc.
2. Run it and try to download anything with it using your mobile internet.
B.
Try to download anything using Wi-Fi connection.
Let me know what happens

Try this:

Reboot phone

1.
I'm also running the same ROM and kernel as you. My phone never goes "too hot". Maximum is for it to get warm.
When do you normally experience this hot behavior? When playing HD games or when your phone is idle?
2.
About your USB connection, that may be because you are connected via MTP.
Try to connect your phone in Mass storage mode.
Goto Settings - Storage, Press menu button, select USB computer connection - enable Mass storage mode.

For your gallery: Goto Settings - Apps - All - Media storage, clear data and reboot phone.
For the hotness, first flash latest version of paranoid or version 2.16 with full wipes. Don't flash any kernel (because the latest version is not compatible with any custom kernel for now.
Don't install any app or use the phone for about 30 minutes, then report what happens

Hi
I've unrooted my phone because I'm missing SkyGo and also couldn't get updates easily via Kies. Titanium Backup won't even show as an icon, SuperSU gives an error when starting and ROM Toolbox says root access is required. All of this would confirm to me that my phone is not rooted and in addition the phone's status is 'normal'.
So why does SkyGo still tell me my phone is rooted and it won't support rooted devices?
Also, when I connect to KIES to look for updates, why does it tell me my firmware is not supported?
I downloaded stock 4.1.2 ROM from SAMOBILE and the build number is JZO54K.I9300XXEMA1. Baseband version is I9300XXELLA.
Do I need to do anything else?
Thanks, Paul

What about Skys own forum ???

I suspect Sky won't help you Unfortunately.
The reason they do not allow access from rooted phones is from a security point of view. .
It is much easier on a rooted phone to find ways of recording from the app etc and sky obviously won't allow that .
So I guess your decision comes down to what is more important to you. ..
The ability to watch Sky Go?
Or the functionality and features of a rooted phone.
I personally chose the latter. ..
There are plenty of ways to skin a fish
