Hello guys,
After roaming around almost a year and half around xda, doing something fruitful
Here i present my first CM11 based kernel,
Disclaimer : You installed Kernel ,on your device ,I am not responsible .
If you installed kernel ,on a device ,without reading instructions ,I don't give a Damn !
Warning : I don't support Nandroid Restore
Attempting to use Nandroid Restore can lead to a perma brick .
Consider Nandroid to be permanently broken on this kernel.
Features :
100 mb shrinked from system to /data (For more internal memory ofcourse )
cache reduced to 8mb
Some touch tweaking (11 mb more ram Thanks @Dark Raven )
Toolchain used:
Linaro 4.7 by @Wedgess
Unique Feature
Modified partition layout which works flawless as far as my knowledge .
One Layout is maintains original system Layout ,The rest of 5 layouts come with Modified System Layout .
All Kernels have 8 MB cache partition so by default roughly 90MB bump in /Data is seen .
The best results with latest LX builds
-CM11.0-
Changelog:
Code:
V3
-- 201401227--
Reclaimed 60 mb more space
Same as LX 20140122 LX CM11 build
V2
-- 201401227--
Reclaimed 6 mb more space
Same as LX 20140122 LX CM11 build
V1
-- 20140122 --
Like in 20140122 LX CM11.0 build.
Steps to be followed:
Flash kernel (boot.img)
Boot to recovery, do all the wipes (data, cache, system, dalvik)
flash the rom zip
flash the minimal gapps if u want (here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48535200&postcount=4)
boot
Note:
1) If you donot format system the rom wont boot even if your on same rom with different kernel. SO its mandatory
2) Flashing the whole gapps will result in a bootloop as i have shrinked a good amount of system size (~100mb)
3) You can run ART well but please donot report issues if your running ART as it is experimental (mike already said that)

I would like to remind all testers to READ the ENTIRE OP. This is NOT tested by the developer.
You users requested it for testing, now you are responsible for what you do with it.

How about adding a link to your source, to comply with GPLv2. (in all you kernel threads would be nice)
Thanks.

im using CM10. no wifi. most of the custom kernels i used for JB doesnt have that only the frexperia stock kernel works... will download your new kernel version and flash. hoping wifi will get fixed.
EDIT: still unable to use wifi over this kernel... what base GB should i come from first before i go to this kernel then to FXP CM10?
Suddenly running too slow and restarts without warning. Everything else works great.
JB for xperia play is in alpha status, we working for a better performance and stability.

undervolt Backlight panel (less bright but more battery )
Add Cifs
Add ntfs support
fix some bugs.
Recomendation:
Please verify if your system partition is not full (if you flash gapps full maybe your free space in system partition are cero) if your system partition is full the modules (ej Wifi) fail to autoload. your system partition must have 10 Mb free or more to load the autowifi or ntfs and Cifs.
You can type df in terminal emulator and see free amount of partitions, or check in link2sd.

Using this kernel in place of fxp. Everything is running pretty smooth. Haven't tried any demanding games but ones like angry birds, temple run, age of zombies run lag free. Battery life seems pretty good so far. And the biggest plus is that both the pictures and video recording work. Finally. Thank you.

No my friend, root doesn't enable you to flash a custom kernel.
You must unlock your bootloader.
Rooting is a different process.
This kernel roots the phone (if using test 2) so don't worry about root

No problem my friend, I suppose I will for someone to confirm it, in the end it's still in it's test phase
Yet I'm still waiting for performance & battery feedback
Re: [Kernel][Sony Xperia U][March - 21] Sliding_XU [Stock]
Battery life is so far good.... A bit better than stock... Not extremely better ( miracles dun happen overnight )
Nt experiencing lags... Games running smooth (temple run 2 and shadowgun tested, I have just these 2 :/... Nenamark 2 is 29fps ( max for stock I guess)
Antutu 7200(+-100)
M nt a fan of benchmarks bt performance is smooth overall
Since this kernel is compiled from source... It has almost equaled the stock kernel wid additional features
In the very first release
Great job ......

To be honest I can't confirm anything because I don't have the device, my expectations are based on what I've seen on my Xperia P before it got bricked and also building my expectations on what users will report.
So you will have to try it out your self and if it doesn't work you can simply flash back a different kernel to make your device boot again
Re: [Kernel][Sony Xperia U][March - 21] Sliding_XU [Stock]
It worked well on Fw. 1.45 so I'm sure it work on Fw.C.1 too

CyanogenMod is an aftermarket firmware for a number of cell phones based on the open-source Android operating system. It offers features not found in the official Android based firmwares of vendors.
What works:
SIM1 for phone calls (incoming/outgoing) and SMS, data (2g, 3g)
- SIM2 is a WIP
- Audio (microphone - now also outside phone calls, loudspeaker, headphones)
- Sensors
- Wifi (not wifi direct)
- GPS (no A-GPS yet nor EPO assist files, so the fix can take a bit)
- hw composer
- camera for taking pictures (not video)
- wifi and usb tethering
- battery usage stats (expect the usage for Display to be very unprecise)
- candy crush, facebook and twitter
- USB OTG
- bluetooth
What doesn't work, known bugs:
- 2nd sim card 3G switch
- Dual SIM is a WIP, not has some bugs (data connection instability, etc.)
- camera for "movies" does not work
- (hw) video en/decoding not enabled
- FM radio not available
- A-GPS does not work, GPS works though but slowish

...also one question bro... it is a rom ported from wiko stairway ... and cm for wiko stairway is source built ..so as the working part still the same now as that rom ... can we expect that the bugs fixed there can be fixed in this rom also..?

It is running on KashKernel v2.3. Because I have added a patch required for Android 4.4. It won't work on stock kernel.

Thanks. I have given it to chrmhoffmann, he will try to integrate it. Yes, some bugs can be fixed, but the best way to fix everything is to build from source.

Good to know :victory:
Does it has features to disable dt2w/s2w with power button?
Had some issues with AICP. wanted to test both and report. I had screen lock up and some shuddering when multitasking.
Hard reset and just wiped and flashed another ROM.
Any ideas. I used same process as with Rastakat. Thanks
Works fine with mahdi. Please add support for battery LED always on.

It seems that the zip patch does not work well (i think) with some ROMs.
Since it's based on AOSP sources, with just 10 library files inclusion.
Usually if I see a ROM saying it's upgrading packages (as if we're flashing newer ROM) I know there'll be a lot of FCs.
Seems I'm not the only one.
What do you think, should we continuing releasing this method (advertise with CM ROM capable) or enough with AOSP.
