Hi guys,
I have moved onto a new device so I wont really be in the L9 forums anymore. Ill try to check in when I can and see if I can still help people out, ill also maintain my P768 bootloader thread if people have questions on unlocking the bootloader - although it seems to be a pretty hit and miss situation.
Ive got a new Sony Xperia SP so ill mainly be in that forum and the nexus 7 one too.
Good luck to all you L9 users and thank you to everyone who has helped me out during my time here. The L9 has been a great phone, annoying at times with the bootloader issues, but otherwise awesome!
Thanks guys!

My previous devices have been much worse. I had a ZTE Skate -300mb user storage, then a Huawei Honor which died during an update. This was almost my first problem free phone. The downloader did unlock for me, I hated how LG handled SD cards on stock ROMs, couldn't install any big games. Once it was unlocked and running CM10, it was a good phone. Using LG notifications was good for adding useful light notifications (should have been a stock feature!)
Disappointing that you had to hack it up to make it work how it should.

Im thinking about getting the optimus l9 p769, but I was looking at the threads, and i noticed 2 android development forums and one has roms and the other doesnt, so whats the difference?
And will those roms all work on the p769?
Thanks, sincerely
first, I'm not really sure of the difference myself, so I won't comment on that. but NONE of the roms work for the p769. Let me repeat that just in case I wasn't clear. NONE OF THE CURRENT ROMS WORK FOR THE P769!!! this is partially because of the difference in hardware, and partially because the p769 doesn't have an unlocked bootloader like the other versions.

well then what do i do? if i unlock the bootloader will that fix it?
I'll answer that question, no, because nobody can unlock the bootloader. there.
P.S. my brother borrows my account periodically, this was my brothers question.
nope, you just have to wait. when we get an official release of jelly bean, we'll get the ability to unlock our bootloader, and the people that have this phone will be able to develop roms for it.
The P769 will be [naturally] unlockable once T-Mobile approves its Jelly Bean update and it gets out in the air. There is a roundabout method available for unlocking the bootloader for the impatient/tech savvy as well as a CyanogenMod 10.1 unofficial P769 build, but I'd recommend waiting.
Is the jelly bean update definitely on the way?

The source code for JB on the P769 was recently released. So it's only a matter of time when it is officially released and we get a KDZ

It runs pretty well. My only real problem is that the clock seems to to not sync correctly. I had to set my time myself because when I set it to Central Time (I'm in Chicago so) but gives me a time 5 hours in advanced. Also no Apps2sd is tough. Hopefully this will be turned on soon. Otherwise I'm not having any problems with it. Battery drains a little quicker then normal but I can't complain.

The reason it does that was mentioned in the op for that rom "This will basically turn the p769 to p760 with the appropriate mods to enable proper function of the p769"

Very nice.
djrbliss, would this enable the flashing of a patched aboot? That way it achieves a similar setup like with the Verizon S3.
this just seemed obvious. http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?p=483
are we ever gonna get an unlocked bootloader? I'm seriously considering just getting a new phone, its been almost two years :x Thanks!

Most likely gonna switch to AT&T or T-Mobile and get an S5 or maybe even an LG G2. I saw an LG G2 last night and it honestly blew me away, S4 was fun while it lasted

Yeah i understand the frustration with the locked boot loader.. No Aosp Roms is fine with me but no kernels sucks .. I should have researched a little more before buying this phone but i only paid $185 for it two months ago so its not a big deal . I can still sell for a profit it i decide to get a different phone...Might check out the g2 but will probably end up with GS5
Okay, listen up! I know I thought we wouldn't be getting an update, but THIS IS A POSSIBILITY!!!
We have the L9 right? The L3, L5, and L7 are getting it! So why wouldn't we?! THIS COULD HAPPEN.

I fear you are right, on CyanogenMod site they said OMAP support was lacking. So, even if it's not written on stone, I fear we will be kicked out of KitKat even on CM...

I also have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. It has a working CM11 ( KitKat ) port. Users were experiencing install issues at first. Recovery ended up being the problem. Updated to newest recovery, CWM 6.0.4.4, and installed fine. 4.4 implements some things not supported by previous versions. As of this post, CWM is the only recovery capable of installing 4.4 roms

Good news! Unfortunately only are for L II, Lx
sorry for my bad English! xD
It's two sided. Because of our OMAP chipset, we shouldn't get 4.4 update, but look on the bright side - l9 is the strongest of L series, so why shouldn't we get that update? I mean, what policy LG is using if we won't? Even freaking L3 is getting the update, the oldest L series phone, but L9 no? Cmon

I don't see why you're so against LG - how 'bout a brand new Nexus 5? It's great, just like OG, OG2 - there is nothing strange if not a flagship doesn't get an update to the latest firmware. It's not about LG, it's about all non-flagship phones - all of them get either customs or nothing after a year of support and our L9 got quite a good number of updates!
Because every lg I've ever owned has been thrown at one point or another.
Their habit of locking them down like fort Knox is bs and I'm really sick of being driven nuts every time I get one.

I ve read this article in this link http://www.phonearena.com/news/LG-t...te-many-of-its-devices-to-Android-4.4_id51571
It seems many LG devices get direct kitkat update, but not l9, if l9 is not compatible for android 4.4, why can't atleast get 4.3? Do anyone have clear ideas about this?
Sent from my LG-P765 using xda app-developers app
Android does not officially support TI OMAP CPUs as of 4.4 and if I'm not mistaken the L9 uses one so were out of luck. You could always try your hand at unlocking your bootloader and flashing a custom 4.4 or even 4.3 build
Sent from my LG-P769 using xda app-developers app
Honestly there is nothing that LG or T-Mobile could put out that can touch any of the custom roms available for this phone anyways. There are a couple Unofficial CM 11 roms availible and I have not had a problem with it.
I thought atleast we would get a 4.3 update, anyway we I will try custom ROMs
Sent from my LG-P765 using xda app-developers app
But the list mentions L9 II will get 4.4 update, how is our L9 similar to it's successor? Is it possible to port the update from the L9 II to L9?

I's not that the device isn't KitKat compatible, I also have an ARMv6 Optimus One, old and slow, but it fully supports running KitKat. LG Simply doesn't want to support the L9 anymore.
As I've previously stated, not here, and others have also stated, this is my LAST LG device. My money. My blood and sweat made the money, so I should be able to do with it what I want. Plain and simple.
Agreed!!! I dont think I'll ever buy another lg device again... It's my phone and I bought it out right, I should be able to do what I want to do.
Currently I'm thinking of getting a T-Mobile google nexus 5 hopefully in a couple weeks. Which I found out was made in collaboration with lg. Lol. At least the bootloader is unlockable. I guess I might look at some other devices then too.
well think of the cpu not getting anymore updates by its company which isnt lg i mean if you guys want kitkat and are on a budget get the lg optimus l90 its a really good phone that i recently got that i upgraded to

Odds are you won't be able to unlock unless someone creates a new method.
Alright, once i have been unlocking bootloader on p760 and i was succesful from first try. But i did this after i've reflashed kdz threw lg support tool, because i,ve got security alert. I wanted to flash cyanogen mod, and after flashing, i've got security alert. so i reflashed kdz with support tool and after that i succesful unlocked bootloader by adb unlock. so i'm wondering.. maybe we need first to get security error, when fix it and after that try to unlcok? anyone, who got unlocked, have you ever got security error before?
