hi,
i have a 4.3 S3 android phone.
i have a serious problem - when i plug in my phone to the charger,
its like the phone is decide by himself about charging - sometimes so slow(10 hrs), sometimes normal,(2-3 hrs) ,from 0 to 100%
please help me, can i flash the **** out of him or anything that could help??
Are you using the Samsung charger and cable? I experienced similar issues using those cables, and the solution was...buying another USB charger.
Samsung cables are of very low quality, they work for like 6 months and then they stop working...In my case, I bought a USB charger and a micro USB cable, not from Samsung of course, and the problem solved. In fact, it charged even better than before.
So you should waste some money, I think:laugh:
i did it man.. and it still happens...
its something with my phone, but i dont know what...

First, download this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...dium=organic&utm_term=galaxy+charging+current
And while charging, look at the value in the 'avg' line:
if its below 900 when using 1A charger, than it might be a problem in device's usb port (considering the charger and cable to be ok)- the soldering seldom gets loose over time, so you should take it to lab check.
If the value is above 900, that I suggest you to consider replacing your rom.

ohh its below 900!!
maximum: 300
now: 999
Avg: 300
those it normall???? something wrong with the phone itself?

First- the app isn't 100% accurate, so you should check it several times with different chargers/cables and electricity ports. if you have another s3 to compare it to, do it. If the result is the same- so you should take it to a lab check

you could also try another kernel - Boeffla Kernel.
It allows you to set charging value higher then usual (but be careful....)
I charge mine at 1600 with no problems

So I have this duracell usb charger and always when it becomes empty (or when I turn the off switch when still plugged in my phone) it displays that message after like 5 seconds. Can this damage my phone or anything?

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I've seen the same message using an Energizer high-power USB charger which gives 1 A instead of the usual 500 mA.
My hypotheses so far are:
- when turning off/on the charger/car engine, there's a voltage spike from the charger which is not filtering properly the output, causing this message to appear on the phone
- the stock ROM/kernel is not intended to be used with high power chargers like these (the Samsung charger gives only around 700 mAh)
- the USB board of the phone is starting to give away, a common fault with the i9100 it seems.
As long as the message appears, it means the "exceptional condition" was caught and handled, so it should probably not damage anything.
I use iSound Potable Power Charger and i dont get any sort of error. Can be found here:
http://www.amazon.com/i-Sound-Portable-Power-iPhone-BlackBerry/dp/B00439G3WS/ref=pd_sim_e_1
There is also a smaller version available. Its the best USB charger available out there!
if you have resurrection remix or any that allows modifying charge voltage, try reducing it to minimum, worth a try

okay, so i had this problem and it drove me mental tryin' to find the solution.. i tried flashing roms, restore it to factory setting and all the good stuff with software but none of them solved it..
after much googling and searching around in web, i bumped into youtube video which taught how to change the flex cable of the phone.. (the cable and a small circuit which connects usb to main board).. i went ahead and changed the cable and VIOLA!!!
PROBLEMS GONE..
turns out it was a hardware problem and not a software one..

Hi all, I just realized a problem with my Galaxy S2, when I charge it with my AC Adapter (the original one comes with the phone), the phone recognizes it as USB, it shows UTP (or UT... blah blah i don't remember, the same sign when you connect your phone to your laptop to copy file). Not only that, what disturbs me is that the charging current now is USB too, I didn't realize that 'cause I used to charge over-night. But now it has been charge for 4 hours and still not full yet, I download the "current widget" app and it shows exactly 451Mah , I checked on Extweaks's Misc Tab and nothing's wrong, I recheck and restart, calibrated battery, still doesn't work.
Who has the same problem with me and knows a solution? 'cause I can't wait for my phone 5 hours to charge in an afternoon like this
I'm using Checkrom Revo HD 6 (2.3.6), Siyah lastest ver for GB, I don't install anything involved battery or scripts or internal tweaks 'cause I'm no pro
P/s: Sorry for my clumsy English
First of all you should try another charger. If the charger is reported as USB device it is probably defective (at least the short between the USB data lines seems to be missing). The slow charging of the phone is just the consequence of the charger not being detected as such.
I think there is no use changing something on your phone as long as the charger is reported as USB device.
May also be worth checking the USB port is fairly clean? Some GS2's (including mine) have required a new USB port due to false reporting of USB status, e.g. charging symbol without actually being plugged in. Hope you are not in this category!
Good luck
Thanks All, first I dont think the adaptor is defective, 'cause if it broke down, it would not be able to charge at all, in this case it shows exactly the usb voltage charge, it.makes me think it's the fault of the phone.
And I think cleaning the port is a nice idea I havent tried, I'll do it and tell the result latet

Hi. i just want to share my work with you my firends. I made dock station and i was able to get OTG MODE AND CHARGING AT THE SAME TIME for SONY XPERIA S LT26i , but XDA USER GregórioAxiaMagno get it tested and working on XPERIA MINI st15i. Thats mean you can do your own almost for nothing, few cables + 100k resistor thats it.
Enjoy!

Yeah!
As said by our fella, sonic_boom :highfive:, we can easily mod a OTG cable, or even mod any normal cable/adapter, to allow OTG and battery charge, at the same time, in our little lovely paunchy phones :victory:.
On the sonic_boom's site you can find clear and simply diagrams to the goal.
Also you can find my test at youtube channel - and other things more
So if you think that the LiveDock, even with a nice design, can be just an expensive plate, you have now one more argument haha.
The resistor is easy to find... in fact, all the materials are cheap and easy to find. In my case for example, I'm a geek so I have a lot of old oficial cables and some equipments, the only thing off my collection is the resistor.
My video here.
The only thing what can damage your phone is if you use power more than 5v 1000mA (genius), or maybe connect the wrong pins (genius x 2, because everything is well explained), I mean, if (isTrollTin || isMorePowerThanTheCorrect) { yourPhone = ; }.
It is worth is very simple!
EDIT: BTW if you have ICS at your mini and maybe OTG isn't working, is just install the BusyBox by Stephen (Stericson) and done! To mount one or more data travelers I used [root] StickMount by Chainfire

Why? Connect your charger then check command DMESG. Connect USB charging from computer then check same command. Then connect 5V 3amps charger and do the same thing. Android will decide how much power can take while charging. Phone is charging slower when you use computer I AM not sure but I think max is 500mA from AC charger you can get 1500 mA but iam not 100% sure

Problem. USB host mode RESET on "fully charged"
Hello guys!
I have such a OTG+Charging solution for me and it works like a charm (on cm10, sony ericsson mini pro sk17i - see freexperia). Thanks to sonic boom for the comprehensive howto!
The OTG-USB is connected to a USB hub (that powers my devices and charges the phone!) and a usb-ethernet connected to it for network access.
It works perfectly, but...
...when the phone is "fully charged", it does something to its usb connection (reinitalizing it, I guess) and the ethernet is lost. That would not be much of a problem, but the phone resets the usb connection roughly every 2 to 3 minutes once it's fully charged.
As long as it's charging: No problem whatsoever.
Do you know that problem and what can I do?
So far I have found the kernel-switches in the filessystem (proc or sys, dont remember) to influence host-mode and charging beahviour and have starting playing around with them, but to no avail: Either no network or no charging.
And, as soon as the phone goes to stand-by, the charging is resumed and the usb-host connection subsequently dropped.
I am very grateful for any suggestions as this problem prevents me from having a nice little server running on my phone with performance better than a raspberry pi! (Wifi is hardly an option: I have around 14 Wifi Networks in my surrounding that kill any decent latency).
Thank you for your help in advance!

There's no problem. Only "Now" is relevant and it is charging at maximum level for AC. Even the app developer says he has no idea what average and maximum mean if you read his description.

On what? AC?
If you've changed the cable and plugging into a wall socket and only get 500mA, you've got problems. You don't need a "fast charging kernel" you need to return to stock and send for repair

Hello, I've also had the problem it took about 12 hours to fully charge, I think the problem's in the with galaxy s3 charger, it has a usb plugin, I think there it goes wrong, I've started charging my phone with an "old" I 9000 charger, no usb connection in it and it charged in 2 and a half hour, try that or send it to samsung for repair ..

So I got this strange problem where my phone stopped charging. I tried diffrent cables, adapters, charging it while being off, charging it via the computer and even tried to adjust the little lip in the micro usb port. Is the charging board dead? If it is, will a replacement be expensive?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Free mobile app
Well dude I think your assumption is right.
It might be the charging circuit only which may be dead.
Because as you told that you have tried diffrent cabels and chargers but still your charging is not working which means that the usb micro port through which we charge and connect our phone to computer is damaged and should be replaced .
There are many possible reason of damaging usb port like you may have drop your phone or by using faulty cabels and chargers or if u have rooted your phone then there is possibility of changing the voltage of current to more than 1000 Mhz etc etc.
You should try to flashed a complete stock rom by downloading from sammobile or directly using kies to update or re-flash your phone
you can try that may it may help you.

You can try micro usb port which is available on ebay but it would be extremely very dangerous until and unless you know what you are doing.
My suggestion is to give your phone to the samsung care and tell then to repair it.
If your phone is in warranty then they will do it for free. You just need to provide them a copy of bill at the time you purchased s3.
Press THANKS if I helped you
