[Q] Rom 4.1.2 Rooted - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
i trying to find a stable rom rooted for my galaxy s2. I looking for 4.1.2 release but if you know of a newer stable version it's better.
The important things is that is stable.
Thanks in advance

Go for NeatROM xwms2, or flash WanamLite if you want pure stock.
Or take stock Samsung and flash philz kernel if you want 100% stock with all the bloatware.

Try CM 10.2. it stable and most sorted out. but as one member said there are many options so look for things you dont like in CM 10.2 and search which ROM has them. it a big world. you have to do some reading.

Thread closed as its a best ROM thread.
OP please do not be lazy, and also remember that what works best for one person may not work best for someone else due to differences in how you use the device and what for.

Try Batista70 2.4 + speedmod kernel K2-16...
Allow me to quote myself:

It gets asked all the time, and as one might expect, you'll just get replies from people saying "I use x ROM with y kernel and I recommend it because z".
There is no suitable answer to your question, instead I would recommend you take a deep breath and have a read through what's already been written and decide for yourself what to pick.

I'm running checkrom revolution atm. I've tried many roms and personally find this the best by far. There's online kitchen app with it a but like rom manager so you can change anything like themes, apps, widgets and even modems! Check it out

thats correct i think that i need to try and try some ROMs but im little bit confused need some advices i mean: like the top5 or top10 or roms so i can give it a try
thanks for all answers
i saw two CheckROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1251688
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312240
what are the differences between each other?
I have been using VillainROM for ages now, have tried the rest but keep going back to VR. Best battery and closest to stock (I don't normally theme).
However, your question is a bit subjective, everyone looks for different things in a ROM.
Best way is to try a few and see which you prefer.

Try Batista70 2.4 or 2.5. the best of the best!
I suggest you learn how to flash and try out a newer deodexed stock like KJ2, then start flashing customs if you don't like the behaviour of stock roms. Usually stock are very good with the right kernel.

Hardcore's SpeedMod K2-15 is pretty sweet. Give it a search up top ^
In my opinion HyperDroid-Androidmeda is one of the best ROM's
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288850
For sure it's worth to try. Some people were able to get over 6h display on this ROM
I recommend checkrom revolution v1 with cf root or speedmod and bigbanghds ICS theme. Looks nice, fast, good battery, mostly stable.

so the steps to flash my galaxy s2, are:
1-first root galaxy s2
2-then backup efs
3-then flash it with custom rom?
im right?
thanks
I wanna flash something similar to stock samsung, but better, like no home button lag, the samsung hubs removed, crapware removed, which rom do you like better? villain rom or cognition? both look similar

[Q] MIUI rom question

Hello guys, I have a question regarding this MIUI ROM
http://translate.google.co.in/trans...a=X&ei=XqZNUKyCCcXqrQey7IHQAg&ved=0CCIQ7gEwAA
check out the link and scroll down, Galaxy S3 i9300 is supported and is currently based on 4.1 Jellybean
I now wonder how I can install the rom to my S3, and what do I need to flash it.
I'm also curious about the ROM's bugs, is there any if ever? is it stable?
since this one came directly from MIUI devs, I thought this one would be better?
I really like the simplicity of the ROM, I also wonder if the its okay to flash the kernel fix in this rom so I will not have the Sudden death issue?
I hope you guys can answer all of my questions ~
thanks a lot in advance!
1) To install a custom rom you need custom recovery..clockworkmod recovery is the best...search in posts for cfroot+cwm(clockworkmod)..
Steps to install will be found in its official website
2)miui rom is an excellent..it is stable...few bugs will be there...even the official release has bugs...but a very few only..
3) kernel fix is safe and is recommended to prevent dead devices
Hope it helps...

It's not. You need to try them for yourself to decide which one is the best for you.
I prefer TWRP

That s true.
I like CWM better because of the sobriety.
TWRP is more feature-rich, but a little more messy UI wise, in my opinion

I got Ics Passion v13 with 3.1.10-ICS Passion Kernel.
I tried to update from Kies but it doesn't recognize my Phone (There is no option in the ICS ROM to put the USB connection in Kies mode )
I really need help - how to update the version and what Kind of Rom and Kernel are the bests in your opinion ?

You can try the new AOKP build. Vibrantmtd is once supported again instructions for installing the rom are listed in the thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2208126.
As far as GPS is concerned it is either a hit or miss...might work or it might not. Unfortunately I am not able to test it since my vibrant is bricked
But I can tell you that AOKP is an excellent rom I been using it for nearly a year now since I bought my Galaxy Nexus. It is far much better than ICS passion in every aspect. Never had any problems with it.
As for the kernel I can't really say which one I would recommend since I honestly can't ever recall flashing a kernel for my vibrant...I've always used the kernels that are included in the ROM(S).
Just remember to backup your apps...because you will lose them in the process since this is not an update...it is more of an upgrade(4.0.3 to 4.2.2).
Good luck and feel free to ask any more questions.

The ROM will update you straight to 4.2.2. I don't think you need to be on 4.1 to update or any other version for that matter. Just flash the ROM through recovery and you should be good to go. Good luck.
You can use my cyanaosp build which is reported to have good gos from many users http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167819
Or you can use my rootbox port which also has great gps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167857

[Q] So i'm willing to Flash CM10.1.3 Stable on my i9100, I need assistance, Please :)

Good day,
So First of all i have a Samsung Galaxy SII Gt-i9100 with Official Kernel and 4.1.2Jb
Overall, Jelly bean is good but not on the S2, still a noticable speed difference with its successor i9300
I Looked up some ROMS on Cyanogen website, And i looked for Stable roms, and the latest stable version is this one
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=i9100&type=stable
I really don't know what they exactly mean by "Stable" and All i'm worried about is the battery life, i want a better battery life than the one i already have, and i would really appreciate some guidance from you experienced S2 users in choosing a custom Kernel that suits my needs which are nothing but good battery life and no random reboots. i heard Siyah kernels are pretty good and cyanogen's too.
And all Cyanogen ROM Suggestions are highly appreciated.
Thanks for reading
OK......CM JB is gonna be more battery friendly than stock JB simply because of the lack of bloatware........
Please don't ask for kernel/ROM recommendations as this is against XDA rules.......
the idea is YOU try them out and YOU decide what is best for YOU.........

Thanks for the clarification, But trying all kernels available will be just a total waste of time and energy, although i'm actually thinking about flashing the cm10.1.3, Do i have to change the kernel? can i just
download latest CWM,
flash it with odin,
do all wipes etc and
flash rom + gapps?
will this process change kernel? because cm10.1.3 doesn't come with any custom kernel inside the package..
All ROMs come with their own built in kernels......if you want to change this, it's up to you.....just gotta do your research first........
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
i'd suggest you to flash cm10.1.3 stable release or cm10.2 last nightly ( i guess 26th jan nightly was the last one ) as they both are stable and can be used as daily drivers . if the tag " stable " matters to you and of course , the battery too , try out Infected_'s EOL cm10.2.1 final release .. it is a stable release and is a bit faster than the official one as it is compiled using the linaro toolchain .. all the roms i mentioned are smooth , lagless , and yes , stable and battery friendly . i hope my suggestions are helpful and all the best ! #HappyFlashing

It depends on what your 'everyday using' means. For me this ROM works great. [ROM][Feb 18][4.4.2] I9300 AOSP NeatROM v3.1
There are still bugs in all 4.4 Roms and will be until Samsung release their official one (or we get a leak)

I have tested Teamasek CM 11. This Rom is very smooth and fast and have many Features. But all AOSP or CM Roms are a little buggy.
ok, thanks... I prefer stable to new. I will wait for the well working ROMs. Thanks for your responses
