This is just a thought... The phone application in MIUI rom supports smart dialing, a feature which is not there in stock Nexus roms, CM6 and other froyo roms..
I am just thowing in an idea of porting the same onto other roms... I don't have any idea how this should go about... So i need some info from all the masters out here on what is needed to port it...
Grabbing apks, lib files etc etc.. from MIUI...
Just have your idea flowing in...
Dialer one does support smart dialing. Have you tried that application? But I have to admit that the MIUI dialer is quicker and nicer.
Take Youlu Address Book and GOSMS and it looks similar than MIUI.

sorry for jumping the gun.. The dialer one app worked on the HTS desire rom that i was having on the phone...
Today i tested it on CM7 nightly... I imported my phone contacts from my SDCARD. I added my FB account and synced those contacts as well..
Now i can see my phone contacts and FB contacts in my normal phone application...
But i do not see the same in the dialer one application. The dialer one only shows the phone contacts and not the FB one... any idea why... It shows the same FB contacts on EVIL NxSense desire rom...but it does not in CM7 nightly rom....

I like the performance of the stock JB ROM, but Samsungs apps well and truly suck. Is there a way to flash the vanilla versions? Thanks.

If you don't want to root, then most are on Google Play Store. Eg search for Android 4.1 Jellybean Calendar (by Tim Hutt).

Thanks, just what I have been looking for. The Samsung calendar is so ugly. I took it hard switching from a GNX in this department. Love my S3, but will never be a fan of TW.

I'm already rooted, so if there's better solutions I'm all ears. Thanks!
What i was doing was downloading a CM10 nightly, and copy/renaming the apps over...
Could only do this for email, Exchange, MMS and Calender. Email causes FC so need to wipe cache on app etc.
Works 100%. Easier still, drop them into the ROM before flashing.
Or bite the bullet with the latest CM10 in all its JB glory now source was released.

It should be possible to swap most apks, but Im also interested if there is a good faq that works with TouchWiz phones.
Sent from a gadget...
Rename the original system app and replace and install with the new app but remaned the same as what the original was.
Works with email, calender, sms/mms, etc.
Remove Calendar, mail etc and flash "gapps" from CM. Or select the ones you want from the zip and transfer those apk's to system/apps manually (not forgetting permissions).
There are many ways.
Search and investigate

Android stock dialer is crap though.
How do you fix that monstrosity?
Hello,
Some develper here in xda made the stock keyboard and Sms apps support emoji for the GS3
can someone please help port it to our GS2 please.
The keyboard : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929771
The sms : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1922104
Thanks.
I'm sure a dev will have that ready for you by tomorrow (given devs generally have nothing better to do than sit around & wait for requests from lusers )
wow, great answer
I don't understand how you became a Senior Member with 1235 people thanking you.
because all I see is a looser who think he is better than everybody else. and you want to get paid for your themes and tweeks
get out of your parents basment and get a job loser.
and I didn't ask for this port for me only, people ask here all the time so developers "REAL DEVELOPERS" can help other people.
no thanks to you.
But they do not accept orders for things like this. They have no time for it.

So flashing it that way won't work.
And the MMS app you mentioned is an app which was modified by Smando and created for stock only.
Stock is not equal CyanogenMod.

Hey,
I just got back to Sammy after using CM10.1 for a while. CM is a great rom and has a lot of benefits but have some serious bugs and the battery life isn't so good.
Now I'm using Sammy but really miss the AOSP experience...
Is it possible to get the apps from 4.2 to Sammy?
I found the camera/gallery and the launcher which I just put in the system folder and used it normally.
I'm looking for Phone, Contacts and SMS apps.
If someone can help me find/install this on my rom I will be grateful!
Thanks in advance
i know i have those files and they work flawlessly on my foxhound rising 1.9 rom for s3, anyway i will have a look when i get back home and post them up for you mate

Thanks a lot! Waiting for your post
Contacts and dialer directly from CM won't work. They're too embedded in the framework.
good working AOSP SMS (dark-blue), Be carefull and make backup: the cwm will delete all your SMS's!!!

Does the SMS will work good on 4.1.2 EMA1 rom? because I saw in the zip that something is changed in the framework.

The rom is a fantasy rom, but why not add some samsung function? Such as mutilwindows or smart stay? The official samsung rom for 9100 includes some interesting fuction but the ReVolt doesn't.

Those Sammy functions (multi window, smart stay) will wrk only with Samsung Frame wrk, while Revolt rom is based on AOKP/CM10/PA hence it will not support the same unless they are modified
Thanks.I have flashed the latest rom, unfortunately, they cancel the accuweather. The most useful widget has gone.I don't know wether I should install the other rom.
